Starting point is 00:00:29 Cyndra Kampoff joining us here for some Monday motivation. I love this. Hey, thanks for welcoming me back. You look tan though. You just got back recently from somewhere, didn't you? Just a quick trip. A quick trip. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:00:42 It's nice to get away and get back. It's really nice to get away. Yeah, good to have you back in. We're going to talk a little bit about self-doubt today. This is a topic that you guys came up with when I was gone and what people might need to know a little bit more of. I think there's a lot of self-doubt that goes on all the time. I think daily with me, I doubt myself, right? I appreciate you just being honest and vulnerable about that. And that's really today's message is that we all can experience self-doubt. I'm going to start with a quote. I love this one by Brian Tracy. He said, fear and self-doubt have always been the greatest enemies of human potential. I like that. Yeah, absolutely. That holds you back. So
Starting point is 00:01:19 is that what inspired the topic today or what inspired? There's a couple of things that inspired it. One, I was having a one-on-one session with a professional athlete this week who's highly successful at her sport. And she was talking about self-doubt and wondering why she doubted herself. And I told her everybody doubts themselves, just like you said. And that just means that you're human. And we talked about how to address it today or in that session. So I thought we could really talk about it today to really give some people some really tangible things they could use on this Monday. So why is this important to us? Well, confidence can make you really feel bulletproof, but it can also be really fragile.
Starting point is 00:01:53 And confidence is one of the most important ingredients to our success, to our performance every day. But we actually need to nurture it. And if we believe in our self-doubt too much, it can negatively impact our confidence. And we really want to protect our confidence. So that's one of the reasons we want to really address our self-doubt too much, it can negatively impact our confidence. And we really want to protect our confidence. So that's one of the reasons we want to really address that self-doubt. So, Cyndra, what's one of the most important things that we need to understand about self-doubt? The most important thing is to realize everybody has negative thoughts.
Starting point is 00:02:17 Everybody can doubt themselves. And I call these ANTS or automatic negative thoughts. And I first read about this concept in a book by Daniel Amen. It's called Change Your Brain, Change Your Life. Amazing book. But that was several years ago. And the concept was really life-changing to me. You know, I wish I would have read it as a young person.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Because I really struggled to be at my best, particularly in cross-country and track. Really struggled in that way. And I think since then, just understanding that we all have automatic negative thoughts has really prevented a lot of suffering in myself. So what should we do to overcome that self-doubt? I think the most important thing is we have to condition our mind every single day. And we have to condition our mind to really think powerfully about ourselves. The way I think about it, we can't take a day off of training our mind. Can't take a day off it. And so the best way to talk to yourself would be I will or I can or I am. And I call these power phrases and I am is the most powerful because it shapes your reality, your destiny. When you think I am, you can focus on
Starting point is 00:03:17 the traits you already have inside you or maybe what you want to become more of. So you can focus on your strengths or your talents. Maybe like I am confident. I am happy. I am motivated today on this Monday. So how have you handled this in your own personal life then? Well, I condition my mind every single day. You know, since January, I've been doing this new practice since January 1st, and it's been a game changer. So I have 25 power phrases I say to myself every morning. Is this something where you get up and you look in the mirror and you say it to yourself? I don't even have to look at it in the mirror. It could just be like, I might, because sometimes I say it when I'm getting ready or when I'm driving here
Starting point is 00:03:50 or driving somewhere. But literally 25 that I have planned out that I've thought about, you know, who do I want to become more of? What do I want to remember about myself? And so some of them are like, I am bold. I take massive action. I see my value and the value of my work. I'm confident. I'm courageous. And it's really helping me just show up my best every day. So I encourage people to think about what do they want to say to themselves every day. Write it down.
Starting point is 00:04:15 Start it in your morning. And do you feel like you have to write that down if you're just beginning? Is it okay to make a list? Yes, I had to because I had to really think deliberately what do I want to think. I would think that might be a hard thing to do is come up with that list. But if we write it down, it's easier to have in front of us. And then you can say the same thing every morning. Okay. So how do you summarize today? I'd say high performers, they train their minds every day and they intentionally condition their mind to believe what they want to believe about themselves. They use this I am phrase to really own their power and think about who they want to believe about themselves. They use this I am phrase to really own their power and think
Starting point is 00:04:46 about who they want to become more of. What's the power phrase for today? I choose to see the possibilities for myself and my future. I condition my mind each day remembering I am. Boom. Let's go. I am. I'm ready for Monday. Me too. As ready as you can be on two hours of sleep. It's okay. I'll be good. As long as this room stops rocking. I'll do what I can. In fairness, like I said, that's the rum. Cinder, if folks want more information, if we want to listen to the podcast, get the book, where can we
