Hi friends, my name is Dr. Sindhra Kampoff, a national leader in the field of sport and
performance psychology.

mindset of the world's best, so you can accomplish all your dreams.
Get ready for a jammed, packed episode focused on practical tips to help you get after your
goals and step out of your comfort zone.
Let's go.
What's up? How are you both doing? You know, as can be expected,
Cinder is hanging out at home where she should be. And we're talking a little bit today with
Dr. Cinder Kampoff. And our mindset is really struggling right now with some of us. So we've got a Choose Gratitude Over Fear topic today,
which I absolutely love.
Sandra, what's our quote to start it all off?
It's an anonymous quote.
It says,
The secret to having it all is knowing you already do.
We already do have it all, don't we?
All right.
What inspired the topic today?
Well, I think with all the uncertainty and change, it's really easy to feel a lot of fear and anxiety.
It can feel really overwhelming, not only for kids and adults during this time.
You know, for me, I realized Monday through Wednesday last week I didn't leave my house.
And I hardly ever do that.
And so I just noticed my mood really suffered and now it is more
important than ever to train our mind our brain is here to protect us and coping with this fear
and anxiety is going to help you help the people that you care about and make our community stronger
if we really choose gratitude over fear and speaking of choosing gratitude over fear. And speaking of choosing gratitude over fear,
I know you discuss this in your book, Beyond Grit. By the way, you can get that at drcindra.com.
What is important about this? It's important because gratitude is more than just saying
thank you. It's really about seeing difficulties as opportunities and problems as gifts. It's about
really not taking the small things for granted.
And I think there's just so much uncertainty.
You know, we can't control COVID-19,
but we can control our response to the disease and our decisions.
And by choosing gratitude, it really lays the foundation of
feeling fulfilled and having a worthy life,
despite all these things that we can't control right now.
Now, Sandra, why is gratitude so important right now at this time? It's right now. It's important because it's going to help
you cope and reduce your stress during this time. And, you know, I noticed kind of where my mental
space was last week. And so I started practicing it on Thursday, really intentionally throughout
the day. And I felt incredibly different. I was able to be there more for myself
and for my boys and for my husband. And I was really able to work to protect my mental health
a little bit better. And you know, our minds really can easily go to the future fears,
the future based emotion, and we can often go to the worst case scenarios. And so right now,
gratitude is perfect. So we practice every day throughout our day because it's a perfect antidote to negative emotions like fear and anxiety and worry and anger
because you can't feel that and those negative emotions at the same time.
Now, I understand from talking to you off the air, you have some gratitude-focused questions.
Do you want to share them with the listeners?
Yeah.
So, you know know your focus determines
your feelings and um you can be grateful for no reason at all so to help you do this i have five
questions these are some of the questions i've been using myself the first one is what can i be
thankful for or what's the opportunity here third one is what am i happy about right now
what is going right in my life and and what is awesome about my family.
So, Logan and Lisa, what are you grateful for right now?
I'm grateful that we have, I thought about this this weekend, I'm grateful that I have
my house to be in.
I know other people are not so lucky.
Yes.
And I would say that I'm grateful for the fact that both my fiancé and I, we actually haven't, because of what our occupations are,
our day-to-day life hasn't really been affected that much, oh good for us.
But I'm very grateful that I guess we haven't had to deal with some of the insanity that other folks have.
Sure. And I'm grateful for the medical professionals and those people who work at the grocery store.
I think I'm grateful for this time to spend more time with my family and build those relationships.
And wow, isn't our governor, Governor Waltz from Mankato, isn't he doing a great job?
I'm grateful for him.
Absolutely.
What are some of the other questions?
So the other questions are, I'll just say them again. What am I thankful for? What's the opportunity here? What am I happy about right now? What's going right in my life? What's awesome about my family? So you could take any of those and really think about those and spend some time, you know, just a few minutes thinking about that question in your mind. So, Cinder, I guess one of the other things that we're grateful for in the studio is you to help us with our mindset as we kind of
head about our week here. And we don't know what the week's going to look like. You said there
could be some fear with that uncertainty, but we can take our thankfulness and our gratefulness
in the moment, and that can help us out. How do you summarize today? I would say during this stressful time and this
time of uncertainty and change, to reduce your anxiety and fear, choose gratitude instead,
because it's impossible to feel fear and gratitude at the same time. And you could use one of these
gratitude-focused questions to choose gratitude over fear. And remember, we can't take a day off
of training your mind, especially now.
So make sure this is really working for you, not against you.
And we can easily live in fear right now.
So choose one of these gratitude-focusing questions to help you cope.
All right, Cinder, what's today's power phrase?
I choose to intentionally practice gratitude daily.
I focus on what I'm grateful for to stay fueled with my life. And how can we get in touch with you get more information,
