Cinder Campoff joins us on the phone. Three Ps to a Million Dollar Mind with Cinder Campoff.
How are you doing, Cinder? I'm doing great. How are you doing this morning?
Excellent. You have a quote to start us off with. This is Zig Ziglar. He said,
positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.
So what inspired your topic today?
This week, I interviewed Dr. Ashwin Patel on my podcast, The High Performance Mindset, and he sees athletes have a million-dollar body but a 10% mind.
We're thinking a lot about that, that we really want a million-dollar mind to set us up for success.
So today we're going to talk about the three Ps that that takes to develop a million-dollar mind.
Well, first you said we're going to talk about the power of our thoughts.
What do you have to share about that? Well, there's lots of research over the last several decades showing
that the world's best athletes and business people really do think differently. And I think if we
don't train our mind, we're just letting our thoughts happen by chance. And chance thinking
doesn't really lead to success. So we want to be intentional and purposeful with what we think
about in our self-talk, because our thinking is really the most important factor in our success,
but we're really not usually taught how to think
and how to really set us up for success with our thinking.
So the first P in the three Ps is powerful.
What do you mean by that?
So powerful thoughts lead to powerful body language and positive action
and just generally enthusiasm for the day or our life.
And so high performers know that the opposite of powerful is weak thoughts.
And this leads to us feeling unworthy or defeated or tired.
So we don't want to let those weak thoughts multiply or grow.
And so an example of a powerful thought would be, I can do anything I put my mind to.
I am pumped and excited to go to work or school or practice today, wherever we're going.
So the second P is possibility oriented?
Yes.
And this means that we want to think about the future and visualize the future and think about what do we want to happen in the future so that our minds are really open to our potential and
pushing towards maybe our courage zone and pushing past just the status quo or what we
maybe automatically think of. And we don't want to settle for average but really strive for high
performance consistently. So an example of a possibility thought would be my future is going
to be outstanding and the possibilities for my life are endless.
And the last P that we have today is positive. What does that mean to you?
Yeah, this means that we think about what we want to happen, not what we don't.
And, you know, for example, if I told you to think about pink striped zebras,
if I said don't think about pink striped zebras, you likely would,
right? That image would pop into your head. So high performers are really focused on what they
want to happen, not what they want to avoid. And they use like I will statements to help them
focus on their best. So something like, you know, I will crush everything on my calendar today,
or I will be the best I can be today, things like that.
So how would you summarize today for us?
I would say that, you know, we want to have pre-planned specific thoughts to address our
negative thinking that leads us to feeling weak. And really, that negative thinking is automatic.
And we can do that with three P's, powerful, possibility-oriented, and positive thoughts
to give us the best chance of success
to develop a million-dollar mind. And that leads us to reaching our potential and setting us up
for success. There's a lot of Ps today. We have a power phrase then. Yes. I choose powerful,
possibility-oriented, and positive thoughts to keep me at my best. I like it. Cinder, how do we get in touch with you?
