And today, Cyndra, it's good to talk to you,
Starting point is 00:00:31 first of all, but we're talking about Coach COVID. We're talking about Coach COVID today, and I'm looking forward to it. You have a quote for us. I want to know all about Coach COVID, but we always start with a quote. Albert Einstein said, once you stop learning, you start dying. And what inspired this topic today? Well, this idea, you know, just the pandemic and COVID has disrupted everyone's life in some way. I think some people, it's had like a profound impact on their business. You know, students are not always going to school anymore. They might be learning from a distance and it's impacted travel, how sports are played, if we can do our, you know, favorite events and our favorite sports. And so it's impacted all of us in some way.
Starting point is 00:01:10 So what do you really mean by what did Coach COVID teach you? Sure. So a few weeks ago, I had an international speaker on my podcast named Morris Morrison, and I met him through several speaker showcases that we've done together. And when we were talking, he said that Coach COVID taught him many lessons. And I love this idea of Coach COVID. You're just like a coach that you might have in a sporting event. And I think it's empowering to think about what have we learned, even despite this uncertainty and difficulty. So how do we see the lessons that Coach COVID has taught us?
Starting point is 00:01:44 Well, I think it's really easy to get stuck in the negative right now, you know, to think about what's missing in our lives instead of what we have. And I think at the heart of that is our negativity bias and just us being human. And so our brain is really here to protect us, not to help us be happy or to be at our best. And so when you think about this idea of Coach COVID, instead of kind of giving into the negativity, we can view our situation from a different lens. And we can reframe any different difficult situation we have by asking ourselves, you know, what are we learning? What is the opportunity? What is what is what's happening right now that might be a gift? We've talked
Starting point is 00:02:19 about reframing before, it's just a different way of thinking about what's going on. But how do we use it exactly? Yeah, good question. So Lisa, really it's like just changing your viewpoint and it's intentionally choosing to see circumstances and challenges from a different lens, from a different view. And it just helps us stay excited about what's going on in our life despite, you know, hardships or difficulties. And it doesn't mean that you ignore the difficulty or struggle or pain. Instead, it just allows you to see the circumstances differently. And so it helps us overcome obstacles like what's happening right now in our world, maybe a loss of a job or a poor performance or just a difficult day. What are some of the lessons that you've been hearing,
Starting point is 00:03:01 either from yourself or from people that you work with? Yeah, you know, other people have said, when I've asked them, what's coach COVID taught you? And they said, well, they're learning resilience skills and emotional intelligence skills. They're learning to reduce overwhelm and fear. They're learning to focus on what they can control. And I think for me, Lisa, you know, I'm just at this, this time last year, I was traveling a lot. And now every night, I'm home with my family. And what I've learned is, you know, family is most important always, but also that I can adjust and adapt. And in fact, I think that's what we were meant to do with humans. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:03:38 How about you? Is there a lesson you're learning? Yeah, slow down. I think I just have learned that it's okay to slow down. My husband and I have been really busy with, you know, raising four kids the last few years and going place to place and with all of the things being canceled. It's actually kind of nice to slow down and just really reassess and hone in on just family, just kind of like you said. How do you summarize today? So I would say reframing is just intentionally choosing to see your circumstances and challenges through a different lens. And we don't ignore the difficulty, you know, or the pain or struggle. But instead, it's just helping us see the circumstance differently and helps us be excited and keep
Starting point is 00:04:14 going and have energy despite hardships we're experiencing. So, you know, I encourage everyone who's listening to think about what lessons Coach COVID has taught you and how you can continue to grow and learn through this difficult time. One of the ways that you help us do that is with your power phrases. And what's a power phrase that we can use today? I reframe my situation and listen to the lessons from Coach COVID.
