Are you on your side or on your case? How are you doing, Cinder? I'm doing great. It's such a beautiful morning out. I love the weather this week. It's supposed to be gorgeous all week long and a good time to start, you know, thinking about maybe being kind to yourself, which is the topic today. You usually start with a quote.
Starting point is 00:00:44 This is by Oprah. She said, it is confidence in our bodies, minds, and spirits that allows us to keep looking for new adventures. So what inspired the topic of are you on your side or on your case today? Well, today's topic is really about confidence, which is the trust in yourself and your abilities. And confidence is the core of just being at your best, reaching your potential, the core of peak performance. And we know that confident leaders, they really seek challenges, they take on challenges. And I was reading this this weekend, this article in Psychology Today, and it was called, Are you on your side or on your case? And I loved it. And I thought it was just a good topic for today. Why is the topic important? Well, I have found that, you know,
Starting point is 00:01:22 leaders, high performers are really, you know, really satisfied with have found that, you know, leaders, high performers are really, you know, really satisfied with that they're, you know, their success, they can be overly critical of themselves. And sometimes we think that the more we drive ourselves, the better we're going to do. But it's actually quite the opposite. When we tend to be really hard on ourselves, we fall short in our own eyes. And we believe that we push ourselves more, the better we'll be. But that's really faulty thinking and doesn't improve confidence. So what do you mean by being on your case? Well, being on your case means like you're not satisfied with yourself or your performance. And that's when our confidence is negatively impacted.
Starting point is 00:01:57 What happens is when we treat ourselves this way, we tend to treat other people this way, where we're overly critical, picky, maybe negative, never satisfied. And we, this can really be demanding or irrational. And it leads to us just feeling really dissatisfied and overwhelmed. So that's really what being on your case means. And then being on your side, what does that mean? That means really being kind to yourself, knowing that you're not perfect. And instead of beating yourself up, you know, by saying things like, you know, what's wrong with me, I could have done better. When you're on your side, you're learning and you're growing. And instead of beating yourself up, you ask questions like, you know, what exactly didn't work here?
Starting point is 00:02:32 What part of this is under my influence? Is there anything that I could have done differently? Or what could I do differently next time? So you're thinking and focusing more on learning and growing instead of beating yourself up when things don't go perfect. But, Cinder, how are we supposed to figure out how much we're on our own case versus on our own side? Yeah, that's a good question, Lisa. I would say, you know, what you could do is you could just take a scale of one to a hundred and just ask yourself, you know, generally, what percentage of your time do you think you're on your case? You know, what percentage of the time do you feel like you're kind of scolding yourself, not necessarily being kind to yourself and asking yourself, you know, what's wrong with me? When am I going to learn this? Or why am I so stupid? And I want you just to kind of take a
Starting point is 00:03:11 percentage of that. And then just notice how you feel when you're on your case. And I'd encourage you to be kind to yourself, be on your side instead, because that's really where you're going to more likely reach your potential and improve your confidence. So you can really be your best more often your confidence so you can really be your best more often. How would you summarize today for us? I'd say confidence is really the trust in yourself and your ability. It's really at the core of reaching your potential. And so to build our confidence, we have to really be on our own side, not on our own case. And on your case, it means you're overly critical, negative status, not satisfied. But on your side means
Starting point is 00:03:44 you're realistic and encouraging yourself. And when we're more on our side, we focus on learning over beating ourselves up. So what's the power phrase that's going to help us be on our side today? I am on my side and I keep growing and learning. I like it. Cydra, how do we get in touch with you for more information?
