to develop the mindset of the world's best, so you can accomplish all your dreams. Get ready for a
jammed packed episode focused on practical tips to help you get after your goals and step out of your comfort zone. Let's go.
We check in with Cinder Kampoff on a Monday for a little positivity. How are you doing, Cinder?
I'm doing great. How are you doing, Lisa? Excellent. We're going to take this week and
we're going to talk about gratitude again, showing gratitude this week and beyond. What's the quote
that you like to start with? I'm going to start with a Zig Ziglar quote. He said,
gratitude is the healthiest of all emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more
to express gratitude for. And what inspired the topic today other than I think the obvious with
Thanksgiving coming up? Yes, that's really what it was. You know, this week with Thanksgiving in
the United States, I think it's a really important reminder of just practicing gratitude. And but we're really going to talk about today that it's not just this thing that you might do this week or on Thursday.
And the reason we want to practice gratitude is it's connected to better health and more optimism and changes in your mental health and just increased resilience in general.
So tell us a little bit more about why gratitude is so important.
Well, I think people see this word gratitude and they, you know, think of like just the
idea of saying thank you, but it's really more deep than that.
And it's not taking the small things for granted, even seeing difficulties as opportunities.
And the reason we want to just practice more gratitude, and it really is a practice because
it does lay kind of this foundation for just a fulfilling life.
And it's a great antidote right now to all the emotions we might be having related to COVID.
You know, like fear and anxiety and worry because you can't feel gratitude and all these other emotions at the same time.
So what are a few different ways that we can practice gratitude this week and then beyond this week?
Yeah, so here's three proven tools to help you actually practice gratitude. And one
example is actually starting a gratitude journal where, you know, every day you write down just one
or maybe two or three things that you're grateful for. And there's a lasting impact. Just if you did
this for two weeks, there's a lasting impact for like six months. Another way that you can practice gratitude is to use more gratitude language,
like words like blessed or abundance or gifts or lucky,
instead of words like, you know, unlucky or unfortunate or hopeless.
And then another way that's proven to increase your gratitude is by taking a gratitude walk.
And this means, you know, just maybe a five or ten minute walk to start your day
or maybe over your lunch or at the end of your day.
But with the focus of reminding yourself of what you're grateful for.
So during that time, you'd make kind of a mental checklist of things you're grateful for.
Cinder, with Thanksgiving being this week,
do you have any tips or ideas that you could
share on what we might do for Thanksgiving?
I think this is a great time to, you know, really focus on gratitude.
And so one example is you could go around the table and choose a question to answer.
And maybe even if you can't be with your family or your friends, you could call them or video
chat them and you could focus on answering one of these questions.
And here's a
few questions you could consider answering um maybe you could just i'll talk about what you're
thankful for or what you're happy about right now or a third one would be like what's going right
in your life and i think when you know just as i say those i'm thinking of all the things i'm
grateful for um the medical you know professionals the researchers, my family, my friends.
And so that helps you kind of focus on these small things that it's easy to take for granted.
So how would you summarize today for us?
Lisa, I would say, you know, gratitude is connected to better health and more optimism
and resilience.
And this week, I'm going to encourage you to use some of these scientifically proven
tools to help you to use some of these scientifically proven tools to help
you feel more gratitude. We talked about maybe a gratitude journal or using gratitude language or
taking a gratitude walk and even on Thanksgiving you know share your answers to one of these
gratitude focused questions because this choice of gratitude and perspective is always available
to you. What is the power phrase that you leave us with this week?
I choose to intentionally practice gratitude every day.
I focus on what I'm grateful for to stay fueled and excited for my life.
