Hi friends, my name is Dr. Sindra Kampoff, a national leader in the field of sport and
performance psychology.
Every week I'm on the local radio sharing my top tips on exactly how to develop the
mindset of the world's best, so you can accomplish all your dreams.
Get ready for a jammed, packed episode focused on practical tips to help you get after your
goals and step out of your comfort zone.
Let's go.
It is a Monday checking in with Cyndra Campoff this morning. How are you doing, Cyndra?
I'm doing great. How are you, Lisa?
I'm excited. I'm excited to find out about this topic today. It's called Dream for a Living,
and you usually start with a quote. What is that?
This is by Christopher Reed. He said,
So many of our dreams are at first seen impossible,
then they seem improbable, and then when we summon the will, they seem to become inevitable.
So what inspired your message today? Well, this weekend, we launched a new clothing line called
Mentally Strong Gear, and you can find it at mentallystronggear.com. And we have three t-shirts
with more items to come. And one of the t-shirts is called
Dream for a Living, which is the chapter from my book. And it really emphasizes the importance of
continuing to dream big because we never outperform our goals and dreams.
So why do you tell us to dream big?
Well, I love this quote by Ellen Johnson Furlough, and she was the president of Liberia until 2018.
And she said, if your dreams don't scare you, they aren't
big enough. And really, to reach our potential, we have to dream just a little bit outside our
comfort zone towards something that's just a little bit scary. And the reason we want to do
that is because, you know, everything that we've, well, I would say that discomfort is the price we
pay to kind of step into what we can do to step into a meaningful life and experience success.
And so when you're dreaming just outside your comfort zone, that means that you're feeling discomfort.
Okay, so specifically, why should our dreams be scary?
Well, goals and dreams are inside of us, I think for a reason.
And they help us step into what we can become.
And I think sometimes we might think of goals like we just check off a box.
We write it down and we check it off.
But it's more about who we can become when we push towards dreaming big and towards a big vision.
And when we dream big, that just helps us reach our full potential because every day we're growing
and dreaming for a living, which is really today's message is all about continuing to push yourself
to dream big and doing so, you know, every day, every week, every year of our life.
So what would you tell us to day, every year of our life.
So what would you tell us to do with our goals and our dreams?
Well, I would first say we want to just ask ourselves, like, what are our scary dreams?
And if we don't have any, you know, can we level up the scariness just one notch, right?
And what I mean by scariness is just being uncomfortable about it.
And when you consider what your dreams are, I think what's really important is to write them down, keep a record of them, because when we write them down, our brain works at a subconscious level to make it happen.
And then checking on them regularly, when we look at them, remember that they should be, you know, just a little outside of our comfort zone and that's where you're growing.
So do you find that most people dream big?
Oh, I don't.
Oh, okay. dream big oh i don't most people dream small and i think often we like kind of our limiting beliefs
get in our own way or or i think sometimes even when we get older we lose our ability to dream
maybe we've heard you know that our dreams are too big um or maybe we just start believing what
other people want for us instead of what we really want for ourselves um but when we really push
ourselves to dream you know once that's not more than we normally would, that's when we grow. And, you know, dreaming outside of our
comfort zone requires us to really, like, consider all the things that are possible for us.
So how would you summarize today for us?
Lisa, I would say, you know, your dreams and goals should just be a little scary,
meaning a little outside your comfort zone, because when you're dreaming big,
you grow into who you can become.
And most people dream too small.
They lose the ability to dream or they let our limiting beliefs kind of get in our way.
But goals are more about who you can become.
So I'm going to encourage everyone who's listening to make dreaming for a living
part of your daily mindset practice.
So I bet that's going to be part of our power phrase.
What is our power phrase this week?
It is, I dream big to help me reach my best and my potential.
I have everything inside me to make my dreams happen.
Now, Cinder, if we want to grab one of those t-shirts that you're talking about
