Let's go.
Cyndra Kampoff with us this morning. Dr. Kampoff, what would change everything for you? That's our
topic today. You usually start with a quote. This is a quote by Stephen Covey. He said,
the main thing is to keep the main thing, the main thing. Amen, right? How do you start this
off with a story for us?
Well, I'm going to talk about Warren Buffett, who's one of the most successful investors in
the world. And I was reading the story about how he told his airplane pilot about this powerful
exercise. And he was telling his pilot to write down the top 25 career goals that he had,
and then circle the top five. And you might think that
maybe he was going to tell him to prioritize that list or something like that. But he actually said
you should only focus on goals one through five and you should completely walk away from
six through 25. And he said that, you know, it's all about focus. You're not going to accomplish
25 things in your life.
So the other goals are really just potential distractions.
And I thought that was a really powerful thing to consider.
And how does this connect with the topic for today?
Well, today what we're talking about is helping you think about the main thing, right?
What would be the thing that would help you change everything?
And I'm going to encourage you to do something similar where you make a list of all of your goals and your dreams.
And that's powerful just because most people don't do that. It helps you get a lot, you know,
a lot of clarity on where you're going. But then ask yourself, what's the one thing that you wrote down that would change everything? Like what's the one thing that would move the needle for you
or the one goal that would have the biggest impact.
And Lisa, we're going to call this your ultimate game changer goal. For example, like in business,
let's say you, you know, you owned your own business. Maybe, you know, your ultimate game
changer goal is to write a book or develop a new product. Or maybe as an athlete, it's, you know,
working to get on this particular team. Or personally, it's maybe,
you know, exercising more, eating right. Or in business, it could be like hiring blank number of new employees, something like that. And the power of this exercise is that many times we have
kind of multiple competing goals without even realizing it. So once we have those written down,
what do we do? I would say after you have your ultimate game changer goal written
down in a specific way, then you want to consider the how. And the how is, you know, the steps you
need to move forward. And let's say, for example, it's to write a book. That's maybe your ultimate
game changer goal. Maybe, you know, it means, you know, writing at least 30 minutes a day or
finding a publisher or outlining the first chapter or maybe even deciding on a topic.
So the next thing to do is kind of write down all your thoughts related to this question.
You know, what are all the possible things I could do to achieve my ultimate game changer goal?
And then what do you do once, like when you're writing that list?
I say as you're writing that list, be an idea generating machine.
And kind of what I mean by that is write down all your ideas, even if they seem impossible
or even if it's, you know, you're not even sure how to do it.
Don't discount any ideas, even if they might, you know, might not seem like it's going to
work.
Write it down anyway.
And then after you get that done, ask yourself,
you know, what's my starting point? What's the next thing I could do today to get closer to
achieving this ultimate game changer goal? Do you have a final point for us, Dr. Kampoff?
Yeah, Lisa, I would say, you know, I work with a lot of different high level athletes,
and I coach business leaders, and the majority of obstacles getting in our own way of just,
you know, our potential and ultimately, you know, accomplishing this game changer goal is really internal barriers related to our mindset. So, you know, as you're listening and you're thinking
about what's your ultimate game changer goal, I think ask yourself what's, you know, what's the
barrier internally that you need to really move past to accomplish that? Because when you go for it, right, it does change everything.
Can you summarize today for us?
Yeah, Lisa, I would say, you know, this week I encourage you to consider what's that one goal that you went after would change everything.
And today we call that your ultimate game changer goal.
And then commit to the next step.
What's the next thing you could do or the thing you could do today to get you closer to that? Because many times we have kind of multiple
competing goals. And so we want to keep the main thing, the main thing to focus our attention on
what matters most to us. I like that. What's the power phrase for this week?
I go after my goals with a deep passion and commitment.
