Get ready for a jammed, packed episode focused on practical tips to help you get after your goals and step out of your comfort zone. Let's go. We check in with Cinder Kampoff. And Cinder, you are in Vegas right now. How cool is that? Yeah, it's really fun. I'm here for the National Speakers Association. And it is hot, but really enjoyable. All right. Well, today, Cinder, we're talking about telling yourself the truth. And you
Starting point is 00:00:41 usually start us off with a quote. This is by Jim Rohn. He said, work harder on yourself than you do your job. Work harder on yourself than you do on your job. So do you have some examples to start us off with today? So today we're talking about working on ourselves and the power of our own self-talk, which is our inner voice and really how to overcome our own inner critic. And we can all have this inner critic. For example, you know, the clients that I work with one-on-one will tell me what their inner critic sounds like when we work to debunk it. And so they'll say things like, you know, I'm from a small town. There's no way I
Starting point is 00:01:13 can, you know, build the connections to have that job in sales. Or they might say, you know, she's so much better than me, or there's so many more, you know, qualified candidates than me. So there's no reason to speak up. Or what if I fail at this? And, you know, hopefully, as you heard this, you can maybe even think about your own inner critic as you were listening to those words. Because we all have some version of that inside our own mind. So, Cinder, what is exactly the power of the words that we say to ourselves? Well, what we think about ourselves, we become. And that's really important. That's why we have to train our mind to really level up the belief in ourselves and remember, you know, all that we already actually are. And we really need to look inside. So one question to help you think about that is like, what do you need to believe about yourself so that you can, and your ability to really reach your vision and your potential? And that's what you need to start saying to yourself more often. And we come to you because you usually have a strategy to help us deal with these things. So
Starting point is 00:02:07 what's the strategy to share today? So really what we're talking about how it's, you know, chance thinking doesn't lead to success, but really intentional thinking does. And so the strategy I'm going to share with you today is called the truth meter. And I call it the truth meter because it involves just asking yourself three really quick questions to notice when you're focusing on a really disempowering thought that limits your potential. And the first thing you want to do is just notice that thought, you know, just be non-judgmental with it. There's no reason to judge yourself because we all have this inner critic. And remember, really, the goal isn't to completely eliminate the negative thoughts, but just to reduce the power that they have over you. And so can you tell us about the parts of the truth meter? So it means asking yourself three quick questions.
Starting point is 00:02:51 And I'd encourage if people are listening to write these down if you can. And the first question is, is this thought true? And usually, you know, the answer is a yes or no to this. And remember if it's a no, that the thought is it's a thought, nothing more. It's not a fact. You don't have to believe it. And your mind's it's a no, that the thought is just a thought, nothing more. It's not a fact. You don't have to believe it. And your mind's likely just telling you something that's a lie, really to keep you safe. The second question is, is this thought serving me? And by serving me, I mean, is it making you better? Is it helping you reach your potential? And likely the thought
Starting point is 00:03:19 is maybe making you, you know, bitter or enabling you or hindering you. So usually that answer is no. And then the third question is, you know, what's enabling you or hindering you? So usually that answer is no. And then the third question is, you know, what's a more empowering thought that could serve me right now? And just know that we each have the power to choose a more empowering thought and can focus on that really serves us and helps us reach our potential and our vision for our future. And maybe people want an example. Do you have one for us? Sure. I would say, you know, maybe you think to yourself, you know, there's no way that I can do that. And so the first question is, is that thought true?
Starting point is 00:03:48 And you know it's not true because, you know, there's still an opportunity and you haven't even tried it. You don't even know if it's true. And then you ask yourself, is this thought serving you? And you know it's not serving you because it's really helping you, you know, leading you feeling stuck and unable to really think creatively about what you can do. So then you ask yourself, what's a more empowering thought that I could choose? And you decide that you choose a thought like, I will find a way to reach my goals by continuing new strategies and going for it. And you focus on that thought to keep you going and moving forward towards your goals and your dreams. Cinder, you have a power phrase for us?
Starting point is 00:04:21 The power phrase we're going to end with today to help us guide our thinking is I talk to myself powerfully and tell myself the truth.
