The power of dreaming big. Cindra,
Starting point is 00:00:30 you start us off with a quote every time we talk to you. Usain Bolt once said, believe in your dreams and anything is possible. And so how do we start this conversation today about dreaming big? Well, I love watching the Olympics, Lisa, and I'm sure you've been watching it too. You know, it's just so fun to see world-class athletes kind of realize their dreams. And last night we were watching and Lydia Jacoby became the first Alaskan swimmer to win an Olympic gold. And I don't know if you saw it, but there is this awesome, like, viral video of people erupting in her hometown. I did see it. Yes, I did. It was amazing. And she beat the world record holder, Lily King, who hasn't been beaten since 2016.
Starting point is 00:01:11 And what I loved about this story is her quote afterwards. And she said, you know, a lot of big name swimmers come from big powerhouse clubs. But me coming from this really small club in a state with such a small population, it really shows you that anyone can do anything that they want to and that you can do it no matter where you come from. Now, Cyndra, I talked about this this morning that you actually work with a lot of Olympians who are in Tokyo right now. What does it take for them to be able to thrive while they're there? Well, Lisa, it takes actually a lot of different factors that play into account. You know, I've been talking to a lot of athletes this week, if it's the phone or Zoom, you know, while they're in Tokyo. So I have to talk to them at like midnight our time.
Starting point is 00:01:55 But there's a lot of distractions. There's, you know, because of COVID especially, but they have to really manage pressure and anxiety. You know, there's so many things outside their control that they can get really frustrated about and waste a lot of energy around. But I think that, you know, the biggest thing that really it takes to qualify for the Olympics, but also to thrive there is this deep belief in yourself and this goal that you have to make it happen. Because if you don't believe a great performance is possible, you know, if you don't have this really deep desire to be one of the best in the world, it's not going to happen. And so why are these big dreams important for all of us, regardless if we're an Olympian or not? Most of us listening are not ever going to compete in the Olympics. Yeah, me either,
Starting point is 00:02:38 although it was one of my dreams at one point, you know. Sure. But, you know, goals and big dreams actually help us step into all that we can become. And sometimes people think, well, I'm just going to, you know, write some goals this year and check them off like I achieved them or not. But I want people to really think about goals as really like helping us push to all that we can become. And that's why it's really important to dream big, because we're more likely to reach our full potential. If we really have these big goals that sometimes maybe even seem a little impossible, because then they, you know, each day we're really growing and we're expanding ourselves. And I hate to take it anywhere negative,
Starting point is 00:03:14 but can you tell us what sometimes holds us back from setting those big goals? Well, I think fear, you know, Lisa, and I also think, you know, people just generally dream too small. You know, they often let limiting beliefs get in their own way. And that's why I started with Jacoby's comment, you know, that, you know, even if I'm from a small town, I can still do it. And that's a limiting belief that can get in a lot of people's ways. You know, like I don't have the coaching or I'm from, you know, this particular town. And we generally can lose our ability to dream. Sometimes people might tell us that our dreams are too big and there's no way that we can
Starting point is 00:03:45 do it. And so I'm just going to encourage everyone to connect with what their dreams are today and to push them up just one notch than you normally would, because that's when you really grow and that's when you really step into your potential and become all that you can become. What's the first step in doing that? Well, I think just to ask yourself, you know, what are your big dreams? And, you know, could you level them up a notch? And it's always better if we write them down because it holds us accountable. And when we write them down, you know, our brain works in a subconscious level to really make it happen. And then, you know, how can you keep those in mind? Maybe for you, it might be trying to keep them in mind daily or weekly or monthly. But the point is, is, you know, to give yourself some permission right now to really think about what are your, what are some big dreams that you have and what can you do to start making them happen even more than you already are. Cinder, do you have a final point for us today? I think we can all step into our Olympic mindset and continue to dream big. And many people,
Starting point is 00:04:43 you know, dream too small or lose the ability to dream because of limiting beliefs or fear or listening to other people's disbelief. So, you know, the power of setting goals is really to become all you can become. So I'm going to encourage you to connect with your goals as a daily mindset practice. And what is our power phrase this week? I dream big to help me reach my best and my potential. All right. I know you're busy, but if people want to connect with you and follow along and see what you're doing,
