Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to High Performance Mindset with Dr. Sindra Kampoff. Do you want to reach your full potential, live a life of passion, go after your dreams? Each week we bring you strategies and interviews to help you ignite your mindset. Let's bring on Sindra. Welcome to the High Performance Mindset Podcast. This is your host, Syndra Kampoff. And today I'm excited and grateful that you're ready to listen to a message about finding your own MVP level. So the NBA's three-time most valuable player, Steph Curry, said this, what I tell people is to be the best version of yourself in anything that you do. You don't have to live someone else's story.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Now those are wise words by Steph Curry, the Golden State Warriors point guard, who this year was named unanimous choice for MVP. The first time this has ever happened in the NBA. And you don't have to be a basketball fan or like basketball or even know who Steph Curry is to appreciate this example. Because Curry is an extraordinary example of working diligently and deliberately to reach his MVP level consistently. You know, he's shorter than most NBA players. In fact, he's four inches shorter and 30 pounds lighter. But analysts describe that Curry's success happens because his exceptional work ethic. And he's redefining the
Starting point is 00:01:33 NBA because of his shot. Yesterday, I was reading an article about how he's 67% from 28 feet to the half court line. And that there's a few NBA greats who are saying, gosh, maybe we need a four-point shot. And this year during the postseason, he scored 45 points in one game. And the coach, Steve Kerr, said this, there's nothing left to say except that he's the MVP. So today what we're talking about is curry as an example of finding your best consistently day after day and day after day my message is about finding your own mvp level and your personal best
Starting point is 00:02:16 and my friends your mind plays a key role in that your mind can either help you so that you can be at your best more consistently or it can hurt you. And today what I want to do is I want you to think about you being at your best more often. And I want us to consider how you are at your best and what leads to your MVP level. This is how people describe when they're at their best. This is what I would describe as a psychological profile that leads to high performance or that leads to us being at our best more often. have positive self-talk, a lot of it. And I have this ability to bounce back from mistakes. I'm optimistic and I have a positive attitude. And I know exactly what I want. I have clearly defined goals. And I view these difficulties as opportunities, like I view difficult situations as like these exciting challenges. And I have this ability to cope with distractions and stress like I know how to handle it and I have high standards but I'm flexible and I stay focused in the present moment. That's what researchers would describe as
Starting point is 00:03:33 the psychological profile that leads to high performance. And you know what? This is so important because in sport, this is the difference that makes all the difference. This means either in high school making it a state or not. It means meddling at the all the difference. This means either in high school making an estate or not. It means meddling at the Olympics or not. It means winning the Super Bowl or not. It means making it to the next level or not. In business, it means starting your business or being too scared to do so, too scared to take the first step.
Starting point is 00:04:03 It means closing the big deal or letting someone else finish for you. It means getting the job of your dreams or freezing at the interview. And when we are at our best consistently, we describe ourselves as more fulfilled, like we have fun and we say that life is enjoyable. And so that's what I want for you is for you to think about what does it mean to for you to be at your best consistently so today I have a strategy for you to think about and a strategy for you to use so if you're listening to this podcast and you have a piece of paper or pen grab one out okay because I want you to write some things down so you can really think about your MVP level.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Because these characteristics that I just described of high performance, these are not characteristics that you're born with. They're ones you develop over time and you can develop. So let's first, let's think about what it feels like. What's it look like for you to be at your MVP level? So when you're at your best, what thoughts do you have? What feelings do you have? Like, what are you doing? What does your body feel like? What's it look like? Write down anything that comes to mind. So what do you look like? What do you feel like? And what are you doing when you're at your best?
Starting point is 00:05:26 The second thing to do is to think about how do you feel? So what emotions lead to your MVP level? So here's some emotions that when I work with elite athletes and entrepreneurs and business leaders, this is how they typically describe them at their best. They say, I'm confident. I am energetic. Maybe you feel humble, present, focused, satisfied, flexible, amazed, friendly, connected, optimistic, easygoing, alert, calm, loose, grateful. What do you feel like when you're at your best? And write those five emotions down. Next, think about what you can do today to be at your best. What can you do today to be at your best?
Starting point is 00:06:22 What I mean by that is when I'm at my best, I run every single day. I also have a gratitude practice. So I remind myself what I'm grateful for so I can stay energized and excited. What can you do today to be at your best? And then think about how you can continue that practice. But what's one thing you could do to be at your best more often? Because my friends, high performers, those that work to reach their greater potential, they understand what leads them to high performance and they recognize and they find their MVP level every single day so they can be at their best more often. And they use strategies and tools to keep their mind working for them and not against them. So thank you so much for joining
