Cyndra, we're talking about the three
Starting point is 00:00:31 thieves of our potential. And you start us off with a quote. I love this quote by Jim Rohn. He said, beware of the thief in your mind that's after your promise and purpose. So tell us exactly what we're talking about today. Well, today we're talking about these three thieves of our potential. And the way I kind of think about it is think about how high performance really is your potential, which is unlimited and endless, minus your inner limits. And what I mean by that is like your inner limits are the thieves in your mind. These thieves kind of take away your power, your motivation, your connection to ultimately your purpose. And so we're going to talk about three today.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Relatively quickly, we're going to talk about limiting beliefs, comparison, and judgment as the three thieves that really get in the way of our potential. All right, let's start with limiting belief. What are those? Well, we all experience limiting beliefs in some way. And if they're not examined, they're really detrimental to our own potential in our life and our career. And so sometimes these limiting beliefs are reinforced by other people, you know, many, many years. So they really take conscious awareness to believe something different about ourselves. And maybe think about a belief is just a thought that we repeat over time. Usually these limiting beliefs kind of reflect in some way this belief we're not enough.
Starting point is 00:01:47 And so these beliefs do impact our potential and really we want to examine them so they don't just become invisible barriers or inner limits. Can you tell us how comparison will actually hold us back? Yeah, so the second one is comparison. And this means, you know, that we compare ourselves to other people in some way. But we don't usually compare in a comprehensive way, right? We usually just compare one thing we don't like about ourselves to another person. And again, this also makes us feel like we're not enough. And I think it's interesting because we live in this kind of culture of comparison.
Starting point is 00:02:20 So the first step in both limiting beliefs and comparison is just notice when we're experiencing these inner limits. And so can you tell us about how judgment comparison, can impact all of us. And there's different ways that we judge. We can judge ourselves. We can judge other people or we judge circumstances and events. But this also judgment impacts our confidence and our grit. And we actually know that, you know, less judgment and more compassion for ourselves is going to get you where you want to go. And so this judgment is the
Starting point is 00:03:06 third thief of our potential. And what would you recommend that we do when we notice our mind going to these three thieves, any one of them, or maybe a couple of them, maybe all of them? Yeah, absolutely. Great question, Lisa. So again, the three are like limiting beliefs, comparison, and judgment. And I would say the first step is just noticing how, you know, these inner limits impact you. So noticing your beliefs or noticing when you compare and noticing judgment. And so I just want you to kind of think about, you know, what are the limiting beliefs that you have? How do you experience judgment or comparison? And we just want to explore this in our own mind and just acknowledge these inner limits kind of without judgment,
Starting point is 00:03:46 meaning just take a moment to judge, not judge yourself and just explore the way that that's holding you back. And then the key is, is to replace it with something more empowering. You know, ask yourself, for example, what belief would allow you to become all that you could be? And you could even just close your eyes and imagine that new empowering belief to be true. And just see your life at a different level when you really believe in that thought. Can you give us an example? Sure. So I do a lot of executive coaching and all my clients have talked about these three thieves in some way. So for example, one of my clients said, you know, there's no way that he could build his business to his vision, he had this big vision. And so we explored it without judgment, you know, just noticing that we all believe, you know, experience these limiting beliefs. And we talked
Starting point is 00:04:35 about the impact of this belief. And then we he decided to replace this belief and look at what is possible, what would happen if he believes something different about himself. And then he decided to replace that belief to something more empowering, such as, I can build my business to this vision, and I'm a strategic leader who makes powerful decisions. And then, you know, that's what he decided to take on and tell himself more regularly. And so what's your final point for today? Today, Lisa, my final point is, is each time you notice one of these thiefs, which again are limiting beliefs, comparison or judgment,
Starting point is 00:05:09 is just noticing them, soften that internal voice inside your head. And every time you do it, you establish a new neural pathway in your brain, which allows you to really step into your potential because you're less likely to experience these inner limits. Sandra, what is the power phrase for this week? I choose to empower my beliefs about myself and the world to reach my potential. And if somebody is interested in finding out more about this or some of the other work that you do, what's the best place for them to go?
