Let's go.
Checking in with Cindra Kampoff today, and I always love our topics that we cover today,
four ways to level up your self-talk. Cindra, start us off with your quote.
I like this quote by Jim Rohn. He said, work harder on yourself than you do your job.
Harder on yourself than you do your job. Okay. All right.
How do we start? What inspired this topic today? Well, we're going to start with talking about
working on yourself. And I was reading a study in the Journal of Organizational Behavior that
showed that employees who actually go through mindset training, where they work on themselves,
they experience an increase in confidence and enthusiasm and job satisfaction and optimism,
as well as like a decrease in nervousness.
And so today we're going to talk about how we need to use these strategies to build our
mental toolkit and to help us, you know, have self-talk, which is our inner thoughts, to
be more wise and calm and positive.
And we can use these mental strategies to master our own mindset so we can really have
more of an optimistic outlook on our future and future challenges we might experience.
So we're talking about our own self-talk.
And what is important to know about the thoughts that we have?
So our self-talk is really exactly what you said is the thoughts that we have in our mind.
And we develop our thought patterns really early in our life.
And so sometimes this negative, disempowering voice is really developed to protect you from harm. But as adults, we don't really need these thought
patterns the same way. And so instead of protecting you from harm, they can sabotage our own success,
kind of get in the way of our fullest potential, and we don't really live our life purpose.
And so what's freeing to know is these thought patterns are actually habitual and automatic,
which means that we can retrain them so that we can really level up our thinking.
And we want to do this through today what we're going to call is daily mental conditioning,
where every day you really notice your thoughts and level those up so you can create new thought patterns.
So what's the first strategy that we use that we would have in our mental toolbox if we had one?
This mental toolkit is sort of like these mental strategies that you can use to really channel the inner self-talk that's more calm and confident.
And the reason we want to have it is just so that we have tools to use and that we can level up our thinking.
And so the first strategy we can use is called reframing.
And this means that we
can reframe stressful situations into more learning opportunities. And so we can ask ourselves, you
know, what's the opportunity when we experience negative events or obstacles and, you know, help
us think about how we can learn from them and how they could maybe even these difficult moments can
help us reach our goals. And a second strategy we can use if we are going to reframe first, what do we do next? So a second strategy we can use is just to notice
our negativity and use more positive self-talk and mental imagery to replace those thoughts,
those negative thoughts. Because most of our thoughts are really like limiting us and they're
false. And so we want to notice our self-thinking in a more disempowering way. And the question we
could ask ourselves instead is like, what is a thought that could serve us right now? And we can
likely always choose a new thought. And what's a third strategy? A third strategy is to notice
our thoughts and to notice what triggers our negative emotions and our negative thoughts.
And so what's really important is kind of just to notice these thoughts from a more observer perspective
so that we can actually choose a different perspective.
And so I'm just going to encourage you to think about
what does kind of trigger your negativity and your frustration
and gain some awareness there.
Is there another tool that we can put in our mental toolkit?
Yes.
So the third tool we can put in our mental toolkit
to level up our own thoughts is just
envisioning our own success.
And envisioning, you know, imagery is one of the most powerful tools we can use because
our mind doesn't know the difference between something that's vividly imagined and something
that's real.
And so just thinking about where you want to go, what are some goals that you're going
after, and imagining yourself, you know, accomplishing
those and asking yourself, you know, what could you imagine today to help you stay excited about
your own future?
Cinder, how would you summarize today for us?
Today, we talked about, you know, four mental strategies to put in your mental toolkit that
allows you to really remain optimistic and see life through a clear lens. And so these allow you
to channel more of this inner self-talk that's
calm and wise over the disempowering self-talk and which will allow you to, you know, get to your
goals quicker and see the opportunity in every difficulty. What's this week's power phrase that
you leave us with? I like this power phrase today that we can use throughout our week and it's this,
I level up my own self-talk
to level up my life. I like that one. And if people want to get in touch with you or follow
