goals and step out of your comfort zone. Let's go.
We're checking in with Cinder Kampoff this morning. And Cinder, we talked about this
topic a while back, but I think it merits revisiting, but I can't pronounce it.
Yes. So today we're talking about our IT guy. And I'm going to start with a quote that I like
from Mark Anthony of all people. And he said, if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life.
Oh, I've heard that multiple times before. That's so very true. So why do we talk about this today?
So today we're talking about this concept called Aikigai, and it's a Japanese concept
that translates to reason for being. And our Aikigai refers to the reason we get up in the morning. And so what's
interesting is some people have really found their I.T. guy while others are still searching for it,
but ultimately each of us carries it in within us. All right. So what does it take to find it
if we don't know what it is? So first it takes some reflection and awareness. You know, the first time I learned about this concept a couple of years ago,
I have been working to apply it to my own life and to my own business.
And so I've thought a lot about what I am good at and what I love and what the world needs
and what I can be paid for.
And that's really what your IKGuy is, is the balance between these four areas.
So what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. And that's really what your Aikigai is, is the balance between these four areas. So what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.
And ultimately, when people get clear on their Aikigai, there's research to show that you're
happier, you're more satisfied, and you just feel like you have more of a purposeful, meaningful
life. And so that's pretty much why we find it important. Is there anything else? Any other
reasons why finding it for ourselves is important? I think what's important is so that's pretty much why we find it important. Is there anything else? Any other reasons why finding it for ourselves is important?
I think what's important is so that you can live really intentionally with not only your life and your career.
And, you know, what it also helps you really do is think about what you're uniquely positioned to offer,
so what you're passionate about, and then how can you really express that? And so maybe one way to
kind of think about this is to think about a time where you were really into what you were doing.
Maybe you lost track of time, you were in the flow. And this gives you just a clue at what
your IKGuy might be, and what you're uniquely positioned to do and what you really love.
So how do you teach people or tell people to apply the idea to us? So I work with a lot of,
you know, my one-on-one clients, we talk about this. And so again, what you want to do to think
about your Aikigai and what you're positioned to offer the world is answer these questions.
Number one, what do you love? Number two, what are you good at? Number three, what does the world
need? And four, what can you be paid for? And
your Aikigai is like if you would draw four circles, your Aikigai is in the middle of that.
So it overlaps what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.
I can kind of see that as a visual as you're talking about it with the circles. So can you
give us an example? Sure. So when I think about me, I think about what I love is like mindset training, and I love
reading and learning new ideas and guiding others.
And what I'm good at is providing tangible strategies to people that are backed by research.
And what the world needs, I think, is more courage and less fear and more people living
their best.
And what I can be paid for is things like speaking
and writing and coaching and masterminds and workshops. And so my Aikigai is in the middle
of all that. And so when I think about you, Lisa, and I'm wondering like, okay, what might your
Aikigai be? I think about the times where I've seen you, you know, at least it seems like when
you're at your best, right? When I see you emcee
different events and you make everyone feel so comfortable and welcoming and you're so professional
in what you do and even your voice is so welcoming and what make people want to listen. So what do
you feel like is, you know, things you love or what you're good at, what the world needs and
what you can be paid for? It's really interesting that you say that because I have used that, you know,
do what you love and you never work a day in your life before in conjunction with what I do for a living.
So I kind of feel like I'm here.
And thank you for saying those things about me.
Those are very nice.
But, yeah, it is all about, I guess, a part of who I am is making people feel comfortable
and welcome to join the conversation.
Absolutely. And, right, the idea if you really get some clarity on what you love, then you don't
feel like you are working a day in your life. And so I think as people are thinking about this
and applying this, it takes time and takes reflection. And it takes you really thinking
about and answering these questions, maybe even writing them out.
Well, Cinder, can you summarize today for us?
I would summarize that we all have a need to matter.
And I just want people to think about how do you help others?
How do you inspire others?
And really our deepest satisfaction comes when we make a difference in the world
and we can express what we're uniquely gifted at.
And so I encourage everyone to answer these four questions and reflect on your Aikigai today.
Cinder, what's the power phrase that you want people to use this week?
I live with purpose in my Aikigai today.
All right. And how do people follow along with you and learn about your books and your speaking?
