Let's go.
Checking in with Cinder Campoff this morning. Today, it's a little bit about
fear, how to embrace your fear. Cinder, start us off with a quote.
I like this quote by Tiamo De Vorte. He said,
fear is the only thing in the world that gets smaller as you run towards it.
I love that quote. Yeah. What inspired the topic today?
Well, I've actually been studying a lot about fear as I try to grow my own business and how it impacts me. And the interesting thing is I've been studying it more. I've noticed how all of my
one-on-one coaching clients that might be executives or high-performing athletes,
they experience fear when they're working towards their goals and their dreams.
Because fear really does apply to all of us.
We can't grow towards the person we are meant to become without fear.
And so what's the most important thing for us to understand about fear itself?
I think the most important thing, Lisa, is just to understand that it does apply to all of us.
You know, fear is very universal, but it's also personal.
We experience a lot of different types of us. You know, fear is very universal, but it's also personal. And we experience a lot of different types of fears. We might have fear of embarrassment or rejection, or we fear success or
the outcome or the unknown. And we all experience it. So I think that's the most important thing.
But I think what we fear or what I fear might be different than what you fear. So really
understanding that to push towards our goals and dreams is really key.
So why is embracing it so important to reach our goals? Well, it's so important to reach our goals because everything that we fear is self-created. And what I mean by
that, whenever we're trying something new or taking on a new project or going after a new goal,
we're going to experience fear. And so the very thing that you fear might provide the biggest
growth experience. And I think we have to do the things that are scary to allow us to address our fear.
And, you know, the goal isn't to eliminate fear.
That's impossible because fear does help us in some ways, protect us.
But we need to take action towards what's scary for us in our lives
because that's the thing that really is going to provide us the biggest growth opportunity.
What's the difference between having fear and having courage?
I think that you can't have courage without fear.
So courage is really feeling the fear and walking towards it.
It's not the absence of fear.
So in fact, you can't be courageous without fear.
And so the goal isn't, as one of my sports psychology practitioners call it, he says,
like, the goal is not to be fearless, but just to fear less. So the fears are there, and we need to
continue to take action. And what I was saying earlier is the thing that we fear is what we
actually should take action towards. So for example, Lisa, when I wrote my first book, Beyond
Grit, I was so scared when I was writing it that, you know,
no one would read it. But I also knew that it was what I was meant to do. So I needed to move
towards it, even though it was scary. So the main point today is we need to move towards what scares
us. All right. So how do you summarize today for us? I would say the world's best choose courage
instead of fear. They feel the fear, but they don't let it keep them from doing what they want to or have to or what they were designed to.
And high performers know that when they feel the fear, it means they're doing something really important and meaningful and they move towards it.
Now, Cindy, you usually leave us with a power phrase.
Do you have one this week?
I like this one.
I embrace my fear and choose courage today.
