Get ready for a jammed, packed episode focused on practical tips to help you get after your goals and step out of your comfort zone.
Let's go.
It's time to check in with Cendra Kampoff, and we talk a little bit about how to go after big
goals in the upcoming year. Cendra, start us off with a quote. I love this quote by Les Brown. He
said, your goals are the roadmaps that guide you and show you what's possible for your life.
Okay, so you've got an example to start us off with.
You know, doctors and scientists and other experts thought for years that the human body was simply not capable of running a mile under four minutes. And lots of people thought it was impossible,
like maybe the runner's heart would explode, you know. But in 1954, Roger Bailister did it anyway,
and he visualized the accomplishment with certainty
and confidence before it even happened. And once he broke the four-minute mile barrier,
multiple people ran under four minutes that year. And I think what's powerful about that story is
that he showed it was possible, and others had to see it actually happen before they believed it
was possible. But he believed it before it even happened. And so what are we exactly talking about today, then? Today, we're talking about
going after big goals. This is clearly an example of a huge milestone, right? A barrier breaker.
But I think what's interesting is most people really don't know what they want, Lisa. You know,
it's hard to get clear on what you want. Yeah. And, you know, the people who know what they want to operate differently, because we selectively attend to things that are interesting
to us and excite us. So for example, have you ever noticed like when you buy a new car,
and you kind of see everyone with the same car as you? Yes. Uh huh. Maybe you didn't notice it
before. And so the power of that is just when you decide what you want, it's similar to buying a car.
You start seeing all the opportunities.
Okay, so why is this so important for us?
Well, we really know what we want and we're clear with our goals.
We obviously get there quicker and you can see quicker ways to get really what you want.
So if you're unsure or if you feel unmotivated or confused or unsure of which opportunities to follow, right, if you're not really clear. And when you know what you want, you just start noticing those
opportunities and you start going after them with courage and you're less likely to procrastinate
and you're more likely to be directed exactly to what's possible for you.
Well, Cinda, how do we start going about some of those big goals that we might have for the
upcoming year? So first of all, I would just spend some time thinking about what is it that you really want
for the upcoming year? And I would encourage you to level that up one notch. Most people,
if they dream, they dream too small. And we can easily let our limiting beliefs get in our way.
But in general, limiting beliefs produce limiting results. So if you're going to level up your
goals just one more notch,
you know, what would that be? And I think what's important to remember is that goals
really help you to become the person you can become. And you're not a failure if you don't
reach them. So that's why it's really important to write some stretch goals. You know, Lisa,
I rarely accomplish all of my goals every year because they're just a little out of my comfort
zone. And then that's how I keep
growing a lot every year. So how else does knowing what you want really help you?
Yeah, that's a good question. I would say, you know, it also helps you know what to say no to.
I have this list called the not to do list when I'm working with my clients one on one.
You can think of what would be on your list. But OK, what do I mean? I mean, like, what does not serve your growth for this coming year? You know, what do you need to give up in 2025? What does not lead to more income or empowerment for you? You know, what does not lead to a higher purpose? What doesn't serve your family or your bigger future? And you could even once you write those goals out for the year, write your not to do list for 2025.
All right. Cinder, what's your final point
today? My final point is this, you know, you design your destiny and you get to decide what
it will be, right? So consider today, what do you really want for 2025 and write it down. And maybe
just, you know, write down one big goal or three goals for the year. And if you know your goals,
what's important is to keep them in focus. It's easier to continue to take steps towards them when you really have them written down.
And success is really about sustained performance.
So you've got to work hard every day towards those goals.
Keep them top of mind.
Write them down.
And keep them focused every day because I think the key is you are the designer of your life.
What do you want it to be like?
I like that.
Can you summarize today for us?
High performers set goals, and they know what they want to do. They consider,
you know, who can they become in the process. So they set their goals just slightly out of their comfort zone and they get clear on what they want, what their dreams are, and they follow
through with those goals and keep them in mind during the year. What is our power phrase this
week? I'm committed to myself, my goals, and my dreams.
All right.
