It's Dr. Sindra Kampoff in studio with us today. High Performance Mindset on the Country Club.
Good morning. Good morning. It's great to be here. Good to have you in. Good to have you back in the studio here. The last chapter.
Yeah, it feels so good.
I bet it does. I bet it does. But let's get into the very last chapter here then.
And it's timely for me. It's a good one. 99% is hard. 100% is easy. What do you mean by that?
So I'm going to start with a quote by Jack Canfield. He said, once you make 100% commitment to something, there are no exceptions.
It's a done deal.
Non-negotiable case closed.
And the story that I want to start with is actually of Joseph's schooling.
So if you watch the Olympics, you saw perhaps a picture of Joseph's schooling with Michael Phelps.
So he was a 13-year-old boy from Singapore when he met Michael.
He's the most declarated swimmer of all time. And he met Michael
when Michael was visiting
his swimming club
just before he won eight gold medals
at the Beijing Olympics.
And schooling said, you know,
I want to be just like him.
And this great picture shows him,
you know, just kind of like
shoulder height with glasses.
And, you know, he said, you know,
eight years later,
who would have guessed
that I would be racing
head to head with with Michael?
And that was Michael's second to last race in his career.
Michael had won the race in the three previous Olympic Games, and that was the 100 meter butterfly.
So schooling was leading at half and Phelps turned, but he was pushing.
He couldn't catch schooling.
And so Phelps, you know, would just finish just behind.
So schooling won by three
quarters of a second. And so schooling won the gold, the first ever gold from Singapore, which
is a new Olympic record. And if you watch the Olympics, you saw that Phelps got a three-way
tie for silver. Right. So after the race, schooling said, it's crazy to think of what happens in eight
years. A lot of this is because of Michael. He's the reason I wanted to be a better swimmer.
And I can't really describe how this moment feels.
All the adrenaline is just running through my veins right now.
It's a dream come true.
I was 100% committed.
So, you know, schooling, just like every Olympic medalist we saw,
gave everything that he had to becoming a world-class swimmer.
He was 100% committed.
And today what we're talking about is
when it comes to commitment, 99% is hard, but 100% is easy. So what exactly do you really mean by
that then? I think I know what you're saying. Yeah, yeah. But what I mean is like when you're
100% committed, you don't let excuses get in the way. And 100% commitment keeps you focused. It
frees your energy when you don't have to decide in the moment because your decision is already done.
And so you take the kind of no matter what approach.
You give it your all.
And you don't let excuses or in the stories that we make in our head up or the reasons to creep into your mind.
You're just all in.
All right.
So do you have a good example of that for us then?
So, you know, some examples might be let's say you want to lose 20 pounds or you want to get a new job or you want to buy your dream house or maybe win a medal at a championship.
You know, let's say, for example, you're 100 percent committed to losing 20 pounds and working out as part of that.
You're going to do it regardless of how you feel, regardless of if you stayed up late the
night before, or regardless of the five other million things that you have to do, right?
Because there's a difference between being just interested in something and committed to something.
And when you're committed, there's no excuses. You're just really only focused on
what happens at the end. I think there's a lot of people that are going, yeah, there's a goal
that I have in mind. There's something I want to be committed to, but what's actually the first step in becoming 100% committed to things
rather than just thinking about it? Yeah. So think about what is it that you want to be 100%
committed to? What are you thinking about right now as you're listening? What's worthy of your
100% commitment? And what's your gold medal, like schooling, that you want to really go after? So
just pick one thing you're
absolutely committed to rocking and make the 100% commitment. And then, you know, just think about
what that one thing is that you want to level up. Maybe it is, you know, let's say getting the bonus
at the end of the year. So the thing you're going to do every day is make two cold calls or, you
know, maybe one hour, you know, every day you're going to work to get new clients. Or let's say you do want to lose weight.
You're going to be 100% committed to eating clean and exercising at least 30 minutes a day.
Okay, so we've got that.
We've got it in our head.
We've got it written down, whatever we're going to do.
What is the next step?
So one thing I would have you think about is the idea that you start something,
stop something, continue.
So stop, start, continue.
For example, what's that one habit that you need to, stop something, continue. So stop, start, continue. For example,
what's that one habit that you need to start to be all in? Maybe what's the one habit you need to
stop so you can avoid the 99% commitment? And then what do you need to keep on continuing so that
100% commitment is possible? We were talking before we got on air about the things that
we're 100% committed. So mine is like my organization.
I've been working on this.
You know me.
I mean, I've been working on this for years.
I'm not perfect at it, but I'm committed to it.
Yes, absolutely.
And I see every single day you're doing it.
All right.
Good for you.
I'm feeling better about that.
That's awesome.
Well, I have to say, I mean, if I had to pick something, there's a fine example.
It was just two weekends ago where I had been, you know, I trained for and ran Grandma's Marathon.
Because of the heat, it didn't quite turn out time-wise the way I had hoped.
It still finished, you know, and a lot of people didn't, so I'm proud of that.
But I thought, you know, I know there's a better time in me out there somewhere at a marathon.
So you had said, hey, well, what about Twin Cities Marathon?
I considered it.
I kind of started what I called closet training for it, like doing the running,
not telling too many people,
not actually signing up, but I felt
miserable the whole entire time. I really felt like
I wasn't recovering from the one in June.
And so last weekend, not this past
but the one before, I decided, you know what?
Not this year.
Maybe another time for Twin Cities. I just
need to recover, but I am going to sign up
for and do the Mankato Half Marathon the following weekend.
I swear it was the instant I committed to that, I started feeling better.
My next training run was great.
I just haven't felt as crummy as I had along the way.
And I think it was because it was that one extra 1% of commitment that I put into it.
Yeah, you were fully, fully into it.
Absolutely.
And now I've got that goal.
So the guy that I'm going to run with, I said, you know, you got a goal time?
And he said, well, I ran of this, and I'd love to run of that,
and somewhere in between there would be great.
And I said, okay, well, here's the number.
Start training, and we're going to go for it.
Excellent.
You're 100% committed.
I'm in now.
I will be on the course cheering for you.
Awesome.
Looking forward to it.
Now, we always end with an affirmation here, and it always goes along nicely with what our topic is for the day.
So what is your affirmation for today?
I am 100% committed and all in.
I don't make excuses, and the next level is calling me, and I hear it.
Oh, I like that.
That's a good one.
That's a great way to end that one.
