High Performance Mindset | Learn from World-Class Leaders, Consultants, Athletes & Coaches about Mindset - 703: See It, Say It, Become It
Episode Date: September 2, 2025What you believe about yourself determines what you’re capable of becoming. In this episode, Dr. Cindra shares how high performers—from athletes to entrepreneurs—use the power of belief as a fou...ndation for confidence and success. Drawing on the inspiring story of Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, Cindra shows how speaking your vision out loud and believing in your potential—even before there’s any proof—can fuel massive results. Blakely had no business background, faced constant rejection, and yet declared daily that she was going to help millions of women feel confident. That belief pulled her forward and shaped her actions. Dr. Cindra offers practical tools to help you apply this mindset by using “I am” identity statements to rewire your thinking and align with your future self. Whether you're building a business, preparing for a big opportunity, or simply growing into your next level, it all starts with belief. This Week’s Power Phrase: “I speak to myself like the person I’m becoming—because I’m already on my way.” This Week’s Quote of the Week: “You are not what you think you are. But what you think—you are.” — Norman Vincent Peale REQUEST A FREE MENTAL BREAKTHROUGH CALL WITH DR. Hi, friends. My name is Dr. Cindera Campoff, a national leader in the field of sport and performance psychology.
Every week, I'm on the local radio sharing my top tips on exactly how to develop the mindset of the world's best so you can accomplish all your dreams.
Get ready for a jammed, packed episode, focus on practical tips to help you get after your goals and step out of your comfort zone.
Let's go.
It's time to check in with Cendra Campoff today and a little positivity. Never hurt anybody today.
Today we talk about see it, say it, become it.
And Cinder, start us off with one of your quotes.
This is a good one by Norman Vincent Peel.
He said, you are not what you think you are, but what you think you are.
Uh-huh.
What are we talking about today exactly?
Well, we're talking about one of the most important mindset tools we can use, and that is the power of belief.
You know, Lisa, every high-performer I coach, whether it's an elite athlete or a Fortune 500 leader,
I have to answer this question, and I ask them this question, and it's, what do I need to
believe about myself to get to where I want to go? Because it's not just what you do, but it's
what you believe before you actually do it. All right. You usually have a story to kick things off
for us, so tell us a story. Absolutely. Let's talk about Sarah Blakely. So she is the founder
of Spanx. And before she became the world's youngest self-made female billionaire, which is incredible,
she was selling fax machines door to door,
and she was constantly getting rejected.
And here's what's powerful.
Sarah would start every morning by saying out loud,
I'm going to make millions of women feel confident.
And she didn't want to know how,
but she just believed that she could
and that belief pulled her forward.
And she didn't have any background in fashion or business,
but what she had is a clear vision,
and she kept repeating these empowering beliefs.
And so she wrote down her goals.
She visualized the product that she wanted to produce,
and she spoke it before it actually existed.
And today's Spanx is in more than 50 countries.
And Sarah often says, you know, my dad encouraged me to fail,
but he also encouraged me to believe in myself so deeply that I would be willing to try.
I love that story, but what does it have to do with us?
Great question.
I would say just like Sarah, you know, we all have ideas, goals, and dreams
that can feel bigger than us.
But the question is that whether you're ready.
The question is, you know, what do you need to believe about yourself
in order to start. So do you need to believe you're worthy of success? You know, do you need to believe
your voice matters? Do you need to believe you're capable of figuring it out? You know, your vision
needs a foundation and that foundation is your belief. All right. So what do we do with that particular
idea then? But here's where the magic happens. We can use intentional identity statements every day.
So what that would mean is starting every day with I am and then finish that sentence with
what do you want to believe, you know, even if you're still growing.
into it. For example, you might say, like, I am building a life I love, or I am a confident person
who stays grounded under pressure, or I am someone who figures things out. And remember,
your brain looks for evidence to prove your beliefs are true. So get it something powerful to work
with. That's really interesting. I had this conversation with my daughter just the other day when
she said, you know, I've got the new school year and everything, and I'm really nervous about this
because I'm not very good at that. And I said, hang on a second. I said, you've got to stop
saying I'm not very good at that. Because I told her, I said, you know, and I've learned from
you, Sandra, that how you talk to yourself matters. And even if you're not the best at that,
you are working on that. So watch how you talk to yourself and watch what you believe about yourself
because you're listening. Absolutely. I love that. You just provided that example because, you know,
it's like not only can we do it with ourselves, but we can reinforce it with the people that I love.
and people can be thinking about how they can use this message in their parenting, too,
because we all have automatic negative thoughts, right, that get in the way of our success.
And so how do you summarize today for us?
I would say today's takeaway is simple but powerful.
You know, before you become it, you must believe it.
And beliefs are not fixed.
They're chosen.
And if you don't like your current story, start rewriting it today with intentional self-talk.
And every time you say, I am, you're casting a vote for who you're becoming.
I love that.
Tell us a power phrase this week.
I speak to myself like the person I'm becoming because I'm already on my way.
All right.
