Starting point is 00:00:34 Sandra, start us off with a quote. I like this quote by Benjamin Sprock. She said, trust yourself. You know more than you think you do. Well, do you have an example to start today off with? Absolutely. You know, I was recently working with an elite athlete, and she was preparing for a major competition. And she looked at me and she said, you know, what if I'm not ready?
Starting point is 00:00:54 And I asked her, you know, how much, what work have you done? And have you done that work, the work that you really need? He said, yes, of course I have. And then I said, well, then the real question is, do you trust your work? Because they said at the highest level, it's not about preparation. It's about trusting that preparation when it matters most. And that's what's true for all of us, you know, not just athletes. Okay, so our topic today is train your trust.
Starting point is 00:01:16 How does this connect with the topic? Well, trust is a firm belief in your ability and your preparation, and that trust is self-trust. And it isn't something you either have or you don't have is something that you can continue to build. And when you trust yourself, you make decisions faster, you second-guess yourself less, and you show up more confidently. And so today, I just want to share a few ways to train your trust. All right. So why is self-trust so important for our performance? Well, great question. Because when you don't trust yourself, you hesitate. And hesitation kills performance. It leads to overthinking, tightness, and just generally playing small.
Starting point is 00:01:52 But when you trust yourself, you're able to stay present, rely on your training, and perform freely, even under pressure. All right, Sandra, what's the first way that we start to train our trust? Well, the first thing you can do is don't wait for confidence. And we often think we need to feel confident before we act. But it actually works the opposite way. You know, confidence can come from action. And even the best in the world don't always feel confident, but they act anyway. And so when you take action, your beliefs can catch up with you and, you know, catch up for yourself.
Starting point is 00:02:21 And so you don't want to wait. You want to ask confidently and trust will grow. And this means you stand tall and tough powerfully to yourself. And another way that we can train our trust? Another way would be to doubt your doubts. And what I mean by that is most of our limiting beliefs aren't facts. There's just thought. But we treat them like truths.
Starting point is 00:02:40 And so instead ask yourself, is this actually true? And then replace it with something more helpful. Like, I've done the work or I'll figure it out or I can handle this or I can do hard things. And when you challenge your doubts, you strengthen your trust. And so what's a question that we can ask ourselves to build true? trust. Okay. I would say, you know, one of my favorite questions that can build trust and what evidence do I have that I can handle this. And when you look at your past, you know, your effort, your resilience, your growth, you start to build that really that true belief.
Starting point is 00:03:11 And you have overcome so much to get to where you are today. And so look at how far you've come and now how far you just have to go. And the last way that we can train our trust? I would say, be said, be kind to yourself. You know, your dialogue really matters. And most of us speak to ourselves in ways that we would never speak to someone else. But trust grows in an environment of support for yourself, not criticism. So ask yourself, you know, what I actually say to someone I care about. And if not, just keep on shifting that tone. Be compassionate and be patient with yourself. Sandra, how would you summarize today for us? I would say trusting yourself is like a skill that you can train. And don't wait for confidence. Act first. Doubt your doubts and speak to yourself
Starting point is 00:03:55 with kindness because the more you trust yourself, the more confidently you will show up. And the power phrase for this week. I train my trust, I act as police, even before I feel it. We love these. And, Sandra, if people want to learn a little bit more about what it is that you do, your teachings, maybe read your book, listen to your podcast, what's the best place for us to go? Absolutely.
