History Hyenas with Chris Distefano and Yannis Pappas - How World War II Created the Suburbs | History Hyenas
Episode Date: August 20, 2026How did World War II help create the modern American suburb? This week, the History Hyenas dive into **Levittown, the GI Bill, and the postwar housing boom** that transformed Long Island—and eventua...lly America. We break down how returning GIs, government-backed mortgages, mass-production construction, and the GI Bill turned potato fields into rows of affordable homes. We also look at the **Marshall Plan**, the booming postwar economy, the rise of the automobile, and how America went from crowded cities to the suburban dream. But there was a darker side to that dream. **Racial discrimination and restrictive housing policies kept many Black veterans and other minorities out of communities like Levittown**, helping create the racial and economic divisions that still shape American suburbs today. From World War II to the white picket fence, **this is the story of how America became Suburbia.** #HistoryHyenas #Levittown #LongIsland #GI Bill #WorldWarII #MarshallPlan #AmericanHistory #Suburbia #History #PostwarAmerica Support our Sponsors: Head to https://forkfulmeals.com/HYENAS for 50% off your first order today! What's up, everybody?
Welcome to another episode of History Hyenas.
I am Chris O'Stefano, aka Chrissy Poland Forever.
With me as always is Yonnas Poppice, aka Yanni the Greek.
Make no mistake, because we're both not feeling good.
We're a little bit under the weather.
And I'm looking forward to this episode because after this episode,
I'm taking my Puerto Rican family to see not Spider-Man, as they call it, Spider-Man.
Spider-Man's.
If you, here's the thing, I'm not attracted to you as a female if you say Spider-Man.
No.
I want you to be looking at me and say, take me to Spider-Man's.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yes.
The Spider-Man's is what we're going to see today.
Because I love what you've achieved and you just have to take a second and do a little helicopter view of your life.
That's what I want to do.
You've been able to incorporate the neighborhood.
You've been able to bring it.
You got, you know, because listen, like your life is that of a working class construction worker.
100%.
Your bank account is that of someone who works at Black Rock.
Yeah.
I shouldn't be living near a golf course.
You, but you.
So what I did is I brought, I brought the people who would be selling Icies outside of the golf course on the highway.
I brought them into my home.
You've combined those two worlds in a way where you should be celebrated to see.
See, we can all meet in the middle.
We're all the same.
You bridge two worlds.
I bridge two worlds.
I spent for a family of five, probably close to $160 to see, to spot.
Spider-Man in 4DX and make no mistake, I'm taking my family to see Spider-Man.
Yes.
And when you do shows, you go on the road or you did like TV tapings, you had all your friends
over here and they're all like, I went to Skidmore, I came up in the Comedy Central
Mailroom, now I'm an agent, now I'm this, down that, my family, we have a house
in the vineyard, and then you brought somebody who works at the bag section of JetBlue, and you
introduce those people, firefighters.
Yeah, and what happened is, is there's an interesting thing that happens like chemical
reactions is I
two things happen I introduced my friend
who works at the bag handler in JetBlue to
the president of Comedy Central at the time and he
the first thing he said to her is are you
are you the uh... agency
and she said excuse me he said are you the
agency and she said I don't know what that means
and he said head and we're in charge
and he said it at a Dodgers game
and then I we went on a comedy
impractical jokers crews and I brought my friends
who are cops and firemen and one of my friends who's a cop
you know there was a black female
comedian up who I introduced him to and she was just saying how people are racist and cops are
racist and this and that and he was like don't worry about it honey I got it whatever and then he
fucked her that night and then woke up the next morning and she so I introduced those two worlds
where I just watched it all happen and then that black female comedian told me that my boy has a
huge dick and laid the dick down on her yes so international waters you bring you bring you bring worlds
together you really do bring people and both of those parties obviously have different worldviews
different politics, different groups of friends, different socioeconomic statics,
different experience levels, one lives a little more on theory, talking with their friends,
the other ones out there on the front lines, sort of seeing what's really happening.
And you're telling me, even though I have these fantasies of moving and all that stuff,
to just accept that we will always be where we are because where I've brought my Puerto Rican wife,
she will never leave where we are.
She will be.
Because I brought her there.
So don't even try to think about that fantasy.
She is not going to leave where we are.
Because I hate to say, you know, you're just one of my friends who just needs to hear some reality once in a while.
If she was going to leave you, she would have done it a long time ago.
Just make absolutely a sake, I put her through some things.
You put her in to rig.
If she was going to do it, she would have walked a long time ago.
It's not going to happen.
No, she is committed.
I mean, if you want to know who's loyal to you, I think your wife would be number one.
Yeah.
Number one.
So she's not going to go.
And then that you put her to West Chasta?
Yeah.
Let me, you put her to watch her stuff.
That's what it is.
And she is just, I mean, that's like a kid in the candy store.
Yeah, so.
Are you kidding me?
So that's, seriously?
So forget it.
So when I bring up the fantasy, when the kids go, you know, away to college or whatever, in 10 years, we're
going to go to the city, it's not happening.
It's not happening.
It's not happening.
It's not happening.
No.
It's not happening.
You leave.
She goes.
She pours a little rosé.
Yeah.
She looks at her pool.
Yeah.
She stands like that.
Yeah.
And she just.
Sips and she just stares at the pool and she says,
Dasse.
That's it.
That's it.
That's it means final level.
Because I married Marisa.
You married Marisa.
That's final level of
Frogger because that is super
Marrier brothers.
She met the queen.
It's just what it is.
Game over.
That's it.
It's now to live in peace
and write poetry and she's a good artist.
She's a good artist and I'll tell you,
I was telling you outside the coffee spot before
is what I've kind of accepted and understand too
is I do have a Puerto Rican army
that will fight to the death to protect me
because they want to protect where they're living.
So all the Tos and Tos will fight to the death.
If you try to come at me, make no mistake.
You're going to have to go to Chancletta Army.
Yeah.
And it's going to be hard to get through them.
Because they fight.
Yeah, I mean, they bite.
And Chancletas, they pick up enough speed can really hurt you.
I mean, I, yes.
They just got to pick up enough speed.
I've been on the receiving end of a few of them.
Yeah.
And if, you know, if there's a Puerto Rican woman that has enough, she has enough anger behind her,
she can really launch.
Because I've gotten chancletas and little bottles of sassonne and adobe
thrown at me full speed left handed.
Don't forget my wife's a lefty.
So she comes at you with an angle and I've gotten hit square in the face with them.
Yes.
And I was at Adventureland yesterday with my...
Because you're a white...
Lat 14.
Weissong she ain't.
I like you best shot out of a cat.
It's what it is because you're in SS.
Wei song she ain't.
Greeks are just...
that now. That's what you are to be.
Yeah. I want you off my property. Yeah, we're
just lower class European
people. That's what it is and
you're not welcome in Poland.
You'll be shot at if you come to
the border guy. They cannot distinguish
you from some one of these other fuckers.
5.14.
Especially if you come in a dress
like Greek people do.
Yeah, I just can't
do that, right? Can't do that because you will be shot
We talked about it at patreon.com.
That's what the new Polish border policy is.
And they will shoot anybody coming to their borders.
And that's including Greek.
I can't believe.
I can't believe that they signed that in the law.
Yeah.
They just said, listen, we have now made it legal to open fire.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's what it is because, you know, Uncle Lukash is my kid's godfather and he's a Polish citizen.
So I wonder what he thinks about his godchildren.
Now, are they allowed in his home or not?
Yeah.
It was fun talking about Poland with him at your wife.
wedding. Yeah, because he's big on Poland. He's big on Poland, but yeah, he was, you know, I think
he's like open-minded, liberal guy, and he goes, yeah, it's like, you can't really, yeah,
his brother is the opposite of him. His brother is going to join the, the prime minister of Poland,
leading to charge. He goes, yeah, it's hard to deny how good they're doing. Yeah. But, um, yeah,
I was going to say, I was with my daughter and a woman came up to me and went, Mauricea. Yeah.
So, and then your daughter, you have to explain that to your daughter. I have to explain to my daughter.
And then the woman goes, don't get me wrong. I know your name.
too, but I was like, listen,
this isn't the first time I've been
approached and been
someone said a name that I am not.
I want to know, I want to
be a fly on the wall when the conversation
happens of when these pictures
pop up and they go through your daughter's
algorithm feed, and you have to explain to her
that this is the reason why she's able to go to private
school. This was so...
This is the reason why you have property and
multiple acres of land and an in-ground pool is because
that's what daddy did for you.
It was a wig. Yeah.
Other guys used to fight in a war and they killed Nazis and that's how they got their kids to life in Levitown.
But this is what you did.
There's a big difference.
Yeah.
A big difference is just called being a new age guy.
It's a new age type of guy.
Which is a lady.
It's a lady.
It kind of works across the board.
Just what it is.
I want to really be there if you could let me know when you tell your daughter what the truth is of why they're successful.
Guys nowadays kind of do make money a little bit more like ladies.
It's more like negotiation
selling things online
Like you know like a QVC
Like I'm selling shoes online
You know
Selling my cards
Yes
Yeah
We're all selling our brand
Our content
Yeah
Let's admit we're selling
We're selling coming by
I work from who
Yeah I work from who
That's what the woman used to do
Yeah we're talking a lot
We talk a lot
Look at this
I'm just we and I are just sitting here
Gossiping like catty little bitches
Making money
The guys kind of do make money
That's how I'm able to pay for my daughter's
Spider-Man
Yeah
We kind of got
for a living.
And almost everyone does,
even if you're like a lawyer
or a way,
you're just kind of,
in sales, you're just kind of...
It's going to keep going
a hundred years from now.
This is what females are going to prefer.
Yes.
This is the guy that they want
that already started.
I mean, look, dude,
have you seen like teenagers now?
It doesn't matter white, black,
Chinese, they all have like pink hair.
They all kind of look a little lady like.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, it was like that Italian kid
we saw on the street who had the look
of an old school Italian guy
who kind of was maybe a mechanic
or something like that.
But he spoke like,
yeah, Chris, what's up?
I went to Hugh Penn.
Yeah.
He had a Jesus piece.
So he had the look.
Yeah, he had a moisturizer on his face.
Yeah, but he was just more of like a modern man.
Yeah.
Which is a little like a lady, which is a good point.
I mean, if you would have told me 10 years ago that my daughter and her friends were going to be listening to Korean lesbians and lose their minds off these guys, K-pop and all these guys and Katzai is the new band now, these girls, everybody's queer and trans and ADHD.
I would have said, you're crazy.
Yeah.
The world has changed.
The world has changed pretty radically.
This is an attractive man.
to our daughters is a is a is a is a is a Korean woman yeah with a penis yeah because I mean
no matter which way you slice it the jobs we work are more service based than anything so
nobody's really working with this is a very small population that's working with the hands
and as it turns out as the economy is changing those people are going to do very well very
well I'm put I was literally my my daughter and my mom yesterday I was telling my 11 year old
daughter she was like what should I do like and you know my mom said what do you want to
do when you grow up like grandma question
and she was like, I don't know yet, whatever.
And I was like, I think you should go into plumbing or carpentry or something like that.
And my mom was like, started laughing.
I said, mom, the plumbers and people at work with their hands are going to be the ones who are sought after.
And she was like, my daughter was like, yeah, she was like, maybe, maybe that's what I'll get into.
And I was like, well, you're going to have to talk to your mother to teach you those skills because daddy doesn't know how to do it.
Yeah, we just don't know.
And, you know, a lot of manufacturing, that process has come back, a combination of Trump and Biden.
I don't want to, you know, I know a lot of people get upset about that, but Trump and
have made it, especially Biden when he signed into law, we're going to be bringing these chip
companies back. So there's a lot of manufacturing that's coming back. The problem is we just don't,
we have a skilled labor problem. Yeah. Yeah, you can't just tell Americans like, okay, go back to work
and start making stuff. They're like, what are you talking about? Right. What are you talking about?
I majored in history. I can't do it. What are you talking about? And then we deported all the people
who would work at those. Yeah. So we're in a little bit of a pickle. A little bit of a pickle.
Because those are the people who can do it and will do it.
But we said they can't be here.
So we're in a little bit of pickle right now while we're waiting for AI to be able to do it.
The only business that I know that I can consider myself an expert at this point, 15 years in the game, is comedy.
And I know the comedy club business and the business of stand-up and all that.
And so I speak to the comedy club owners and I spoke to an owner.
And he was saying five years ago, three, four, five years ago, he could not get waiters and waitresses at the club.
They were understaffed.
Now they're almost overstaffed
because all these people have taken these jobs
and the reason why is because those waitresses
and even some of the waiters
that were making a lot of money on only fans
because of the competition within Onlyfans
and online suff, sex stuff, is God.
They're not making the money.
So now they have to return to the workforce.
So you're going to start to see a change
because after COVID, you know, let's be honest.
People like there's no more hot waitresses
because they're all making money on Onlyfant.
And I get that.
Yeah.
But now they can't because there's not enough
to go around.
anymore. Listen, universal basic income is coming. It's coming. UBI. It's coming. And it will be good.
I think it will be good because robots will be doing all of those jobs and doing it much more efficiently
than we are. And they will accelerate an era of abundance like we haven't seen. Right. It's just we're
in this little bit of a holding pattern now where we just hope people don't rip each other's throats out.
That's all I'm hoping for is I'm hoping people are able to just keep it together and understand that 99% of the time you're just getting
manipulated online and what you're seeing isn't real. And even if you are seeing someone real who's
popping off how they're more scared of a MAGA person than someone from radical Islam, which again,
we talked about at patreon.com slash history and is and we showed you the videos of that. There are
people going around saying radical Islam doesn't scare them as much as MAGA. Just know that those people
have been brainwashed and they represent the overwhelming minority of people. So don't let that affect
your day. Just go out there, put somebody in your arm bar and enjoy it. And just accept the fact that
Chinese kids are just a little smarter than you are.
They just are.
One of my favorite things is looking at the United States Spelling Bee team.
Yeah.
Or I think it was the math team that beat the Chinese team.
Yeah, and I can't even spell the kids on the team's names because they're all Chinese names.
They're all Chinese kids.
It's a very funny picture.
Yeah.
They say the United States team wanted it.
Yeah.
I would fail the spelling bee of trying to name.
Yeah, look, I mean, look at this.
It's just really funny.
Like, they just emphasize education in a way that we don't.
anymore. That's very funny. It says the USA Math Olympiad team beats China for the first time in 21 years, but all our kids are Chinese. They're all Chinese, and it doesn't, it's not a coincidence that the only guy who was blowing the whistle on this was a Chinese kid, and his name was Andrew Yang, and he was 100% correct. It's what it is, guys. I'm trying to get in an office, I'm trying to figure out a way to get people universal basic income, because this is coming, and he was saying that before it was the Zichikov. And unfortunately, this is the way it works in our country, is he was a really, really smart guy.
and had the best idea,
and he had the foresight to see it years before anybody else,
and his career got reduced to nothing,
and he has really no wind in his sales,
and his team has contacted me to sit in my trunk and do my podcast.
So that's just the truth is he will now want to sit on the Chrissy Kass podcast in my trunk.
So he did it.
Unfortunately, he had the best idea,
and he didn't become president,
and now he's going to sit in my trunk.
Yeah.
It just, truth always takes a little time because it's jarring for people,
because people just, it takes a little time to get to a break,
point. Okay, and we just saw Chris Italia roll by in a wheelchair, so it's finally
comes. It's finally having. The kid is just in a motorized wheelchair where it belongs to
me. Yeah. Yeah. So, but you know, the economies, they've changed. We've gone through changes
before Long Island, which we're going to talk about today. Yeah, big. Is probably
one of the best examples of a place in time where the economy was changing at that time.
and that is because World War II ended
and a nice Jewish boy named Levitt
with his family.
He was a World War II veteran
and he had a private real estate company
and he had an idea.
He said, listen, these guys coming back from war
they need the place to live.
The GI Bill was going.
FDRB, the GI Bill.
And he said, what we're going to do?
We're going to use all those assembly lines
that we were doing to make box.
And what we're going to do is we're going to make cheap cookie cutter fucking houses for these returning GIs.
And there has it gone.
Yeah.
Who is that guy?
He's a cheetah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's a cheetah.
Yeah.
He's not MAGA.
No.
He is not.
If you have cheetah in your head, you are not MAGA.
If your hair has died like that, you're not MAGA.
And I got, I just got a mouthpiece for boxing because I start sparring with Sergio.
And my mouthpiece says 250 and red wine blue.
So Sergio's going to punch me in the face.
So, but you know, what's interesting about Long Island is before it became Levitown, the first suburb in the country that, you know, spawned suburban living all around the country because then Leavitt was successful in Levitown, and then he went to Pennsylvania.
Wait, is that the truth? Levitown, Long Island was the first suburb. There were no suburbs really in the United States. It wasn't everybody lived in the city or in a farm. Or in a farm. I mean, Levitown was built on potato farms.
That's where it was built.
So they bought up, they made a lot of potato farmers rich.
Yeah.
And they bought, they bought all the potato farm land,
and they turned it into cookie cutter houses that they put up pretty quick
with all the assembly lines that they already had going from the war.
From the war.
So they make no mistake.
It's a very Jewish idea and make absolutely no mistake.
I've been taking Krav Maga classes, which is Israeli street fighting.
And make no mistake in the class on Saturday.
They taught us a combination.
And then as part of the combination, you had to take three steps back and call the police.
Way so she.
It was a one-two kick to the balls
and then you take three steps back
and you have to pull out your phone
and mimic calling 911.
It's a very Jewish art fighting for it.
It's a very Jewish art from...
I took a few...
Krav Magovs.
I started doing a few Krav Magovs
and it really is sort of a
by all means necessary.
Yeah.
All the cops is on the plate,
biting.
Every move ends with a kick.
Yeah.
They teach you how to get up
by going back.
Yeah.
Up that way.
and getting your feet up and kicking.
And it's a very Jewish form of self-defense.
And I was the only one in the class who laughed out loud.
Yes.
When he said, take your phone out of your pocket to take three steps away from the person you just assaulted who called the police.
Yeah.
And I laughed and I got, and they looked at me like I was an asshole.
And then by my fourth class, they had told me how to go up to a Palestinian and take his house and tell him it was because God told him to take it.
That's what it is.
Lad of 14.
No, when did you take Krav Maga?
I took Pramagat a couple of years ago.
Yeah, and you'll never say it right, which I like.
Krav Maga.
Yeah.
And I just, I was like, you know what?
This is fine.
It's practical.
But I want to, I'd rather take boxing because it's like a pure martial art.
Right.
And so I just, I got obsessed with boxing.
You got obsessed with boxing.
But you took, how many Krav Maga classes did you say?
Just about two or three Kramagah class.
And you felt at the, I wasted a lot of money.
On the third one, you learn nothing.
I just, you just kind of, they just say bite, kick, call the police.
Yeah, it's just what it is.
And then they were giving me, they were showing me drills on Saturday.
Knee in the nuts.
Well, that's good, though.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, that's good.
And then they're also doing things with, like, a gun in your back or a knife to.
Did you do that and learn how to get out of that?
I didn't get to swipe it away.
It just doesn't feel like it feels like I would get shot in the head.
Yeah, no, no.
Listen, boxing and jujitsu are the two ways to go.
Those are the two ways to go.
You know, it's good to know how to hit and it's good to know how to choke somebody out.
And also good to know how to kick.
It's good to tell you, learning how to kick, you kick somebody.
it's going to hurt big.
Yeah, yeah, it's good to learn.
Kick somebody in the back of their thigh,
hole or the inside of their thigh.
But I think a martial art is good.
It's not only good for practical reasons.
I think it's good spiritually.
I think it's good, obviously, cardiovascularly.
I think it's good musculally.
But it also just, it's something like, you know,
the Asians figured that out.
They really figured that out that it's really good.
They're very thin.
Yes.
You focus.
You get in touch with your body and movement and flow.
Yeah.
There's a lot of good things about it that don't have to necessarily deal with cracking somebody.
It's just what it is.
But at the very least, you do learn how to fucking crack somebody.
It is nice to know to crack somebody.
And if you're a heavy guy to put the weight behind it.
Yeah.
Because I want to talk to you about forkful.
First of all, I'd like to get a fork full of you.
I'd like to get a fork full of you.
Eating well can be difficult when life gets busy.
That's the thing people don't think about.
And meals, you got to prioritize flavor, function, and health.
I don't want any seed oils.
I want them chef cooked.
I want them fresh, never frozen.
I want them ready to eat.
I want them made with high quality premium proteins, grass-fed bison, wildcourt,
salmon, and fresh vegetables.
So the only place that can do that for me?
A forkful.
Yes, it's really good.
It is low-carb meals, whatever you want.

hours, you know the deal. Because I had the chimichurry filet mignon. And it was yumsicles.
Oh. And high protein. I had some creamy spinach. I had some asparagus. My kids love that spinach.
The filet mignon with truffle mac and cheese. There's also yummy, yummy in my tummy. And if you
don't like meat, you get yourself a little eggplant palm over spaghetti pasta. They have all that
in the meal kit that they sent to me and it was yumsicles. Coincidentally, I had all those same meals.
Whoa, what a quiki dick. It was really delicious. They were all really.

So I went back to school shopping with Quince.
And because I got, when I filled up my cart, I literally was saying to myself, I'm probably
going to spend about $600 here.
It was $130.
Yeah.
Because Quince cuts out the middleman.
They have 80 to 90% lower prices than anybody else.

And let me just say everything at Quince is priced 50 to 80 percent less than similar brands.
So I was correct on that. They work directly with ethical factories and cut out the middleman
so you're paying for high quality, not brand markup.
Ooh, go look at those sweaters. Go look at those clothes. All right. So let's talk about these
Jew houses.
Ladd 14.
So before that Long Island was a very interesting place because I found it very interesting
that it was inhabited by native people for 10,000 years.
Levittal Island.
I think it's important to honor those people.
Honor them.
So they were there for 10,000 years.
Are you saying Columbus didn't discover America?
I'm saying it's wild to think that like 10, 11,000 years, right?
the sea levels were so much lower that the straight between Siberia and Alaska was exposed
and a lot of these Asians, a lot of these...
They walked from Alaska...
They walked across and walked down and settled...
The Bering Strait.
North America.
And a couple of these tribes, you know, settled in Long Island.
And it was interesting to know that they...
they weren't the same.
Like, you know, like when you talk about Native Americans in different areas,
you're basically talking about like the same thing as like Europe.
It was just like different people, different politics.
They wore, they had arrangements, they had trade routes, they had all the same.
The only thing is they just didn't in 10,000 years, figure out the wheel.
They couldn't figure it out.
They just never made a circle.
Yeah.
They just didn't have a wheel, but they were very well adapted to the environment.
They knew how to fish.
And a lot of the Native Americans are now underwater.
Did you know that under Smithtown water?
What? No, I didn't know that. Tell me that.
Because as the sea level rose after the ice age, the Bering Strait went underground.
Yeah.
And so did a lot of the land on Long Island that those Native Americans inhabit is now underwater.
So in other words, there's a lot parts of Long Island, even as big as it is, we don't even know of it because half of it's under the water.
It's underwater.
So do they ever go digging for archaeological digs down there and try to find things under the water?
I think it would be difficult to do, but I'm not sure about that.
I didn't research that part as far as what they're trying to find, but they have found, like, arrows.
It's funny, all the relics they always find.
Technology is really motivated by war, which is such a weird thing.
Like, the internet was originally, like a war thing.
Yeah.
And whatever they find, whatever civilization you find, the sturdiest thing that they made was war shit.
Yeah, it's just funny.
So you always just find arrows and...
Yeah, everybody's always putting their GDP into war stuff.
Yeah, they used to take courts.
and they like chipped it and made nice arrows to kill.
It's just what it is.
Yeah, the last thing I'd want is to be shot with a Native American arrow.
Yeah, you don't want that.
And isn't it interesting to think that these people were there like while, like Rome,
Rose and Fell, and they just had no idea of each other.
They had no idea that.
No clue.
That's crazy.
They didn't exist.
Dude, you know what's crazy about the ancient world?
Yeah.
Is even recently, like colonial war, colonial America, you know that there were people who were
living in Long Island in parts of, you know, northern New York.
in Vermont where the war wasn't happening, where they only found out there even was a war for
independence when it was done, when soldiers finally got to their property and announced that
we are now a free country. They didn't even know that any of it. They had no idea what George
Washington was. They didn't know. Isn't that wild? I mean, a lot of blacks didn't know slavery
was over because their slave owners weren't too eager to tell them. Right. Well, that's what
we talked about with June 10th. Yeah. That's what we said. That's what that holiday is all about.
They were like, you know, let's squeeze out. We're going to eke out a couple more weeks. Right. And it was
white soldiers from Texas.
who were the ones who told the last remaining slaves in Galveston,
black people, that they were free.
And that's what we made that joke,
where we said white people should be a little bit more appreciated on Juneteenth.
Yeah.
And we told you.
We were the ones that told them, right?
We're the ones that told you.
And it's just one of those things where it's like,
yeah, it's funny to say,
but it's just a little true, the little appreciation.
Loud of 14.
And also it's interesting to think that, like,
the Aztec and Mayan civilizations didn't happen to like the 1400s.
So whole civilizations were happening years before this.
Like, no, I'm saying like that's pretty recent considering how long the Native Americans were there.
Right.
And like those different tribes and stuff.
And then these in Mesoamerica, you know, you had Aztec and Incas.
Like those were big civilizations with like fucking pyramids and cities and human sacrifice.
They like that.
That's big human sacrifice.
Bring a back.
What if that's really what God likes?
That's what God wants.
If you roll somebody up to the top of a pyramid and you just cut his head off and roll them down.
You just cut their heart out.
Everyone just feels good about this.
Just do it.
And then God will just give you, just make the world a little easier.
Yeah, and they weren't the only ones.
I mean, the old Jews used to do that too.
Just once in a while, you just got a sacrifice.
But they were doing animals.
But at some point, it was humans too.
Yeah, you just roll one out.
You just, hey, we're going to give God, this is what you need.
You need a fucking dead guy.
It's just what you need a dead guy.
Cause I get it.
Now, okay, so what do we got?
Oh, so Jesse, this is just the history of Long Island?
Yeah, these are, well, these are Long Island.
So there was what they call Al.
Gonquin speaking Native American communities.
And a lot of the things are named after.
That's what the Indians got after they all died was they got things named after them.
Like, Massapigua.
Yeah.
That was a tribe.
That was a tribe.
Shinnecock?
Yeah.
Mantaque?
Yeah.
Yeah.
All of it.
Yeah.
That's Montauk.
Yeah.
Montauk.
Now they call it Montaukut.
You know, and so when you look at things as a combination of Indian names, Dutch names and English names, that's really what we are.
Brooklein.
Yeah, it's New York City.
And Long Island is all of Queens, Brooklyn.
That's all Long Island.
So I grew up on Long Island.
We all grew up on the island.
On the island.
Which is what Long Island people love to tell you.
Yeah.
But it's funny because that is something that people live who live in Long Island below the Hamptons, say.
Yeah.
Because when you go to the Hamptons, they don't say we're on the Hamptons.
Yeah.
People with a little class say we're in the Hamptons.
So that's, you can really tell socioeconomic status in Long Island by whether they use
in or on. You're talking to someone who says I'm in the Hamptons or in Sag Harbor.
Yeah. You're talking to someone who's got a couple of sticks. Yeah, it's just what it is.
You're talking to someone who's saying I'm on the island. Yeah. They own a jewelry shop in
Plainview. It's just what it is. It's just a difference. Yeah, it's just what it is. Yeah,
it's just a little bit of a difference. What's interesting about Long Island, they're both
Republican, just one is more open and one is more undercover. It's just kind of what it is. Kind of what it is.
But if you look at the whole island, the Long Island, you could really see the stage.
of
industrialization and how it hit, right?
And like the history of Long Island
because after industrialization
hit,
immigrants came,
the city overflowed into Brooklyn
and then Queens
and it became very urban, right?
And then Levitt came around
post World War II.
He created the suburbs
and Long Island became very suburban.
And then when you go all the way out
to the North Shore.
Yeah.
When you go all the way out to what they call the, you know, the ass of Suffolk out there in the back.
Yeah.
Right?
They call that the ass of Suffolk, right?
I just figured it.
I just figured it up.
Yeah.
It's in the back there of Suffolk.
Yeah.
Suffolk County's way bigger than Nassau.
Yeah.
When you pass Nassau, you got to go past Nassau and then you get into Suffolk.
Yeah.
Right?
And when you get into Suffolk and you go all the way, then you get and you see what Long Island used to look like.
Right.
So it's almost like going through time.
If you traveled all the way from the airport.
Esosophic down.
Yeah.
If you travel all the way down, you're seeing the history of Long Island change as you go.
As you go.
And you're going to have plenty of time to do that because you can be sitting in a lot of traffic.
A lot of traffic.
Yeah, make absolutely no mistake.
To get to the end, whether it be Montauk or Orient Point in North Shore, could take you three, four hours from the city.
No problem.
No problem.
There's only a few ways to get down that island.
You, even though your family, your wife's family's from Long Island, you don't want to be on Long Island.
I'm not a big fan of being on the island.
You don't like it.
be a big fan out of the island.
So it's very interesting because those potato farmers got very rich, right?
The GI Bill, the Marshall Plan.
This is the error that we're in.
Right.
We're in this era post-World War II.
Right.
These soldiers come back, right?
They come back, they look at Brooklyn and say, we don't want to live around those people.
Yeah, they say what it is.
Weissongxi-she-Ain.
Unfortunately, we're not saying it's right.
We know that it's wrong, but we're just here to report the facts.
It's what we do with the history I ain't as podcast.
It's just bad.
It's actually bad.
This is where you get a lot of redlining.
This is where, you know, unfortunately, Levantown has a little bit of a dark history.
Nick is fully aware.
It's the only portion of history that he likes to pay it that you don't.
Right.
For good reason.
Right.
They said one thing about Levin Town is they said no blacks.
Did he explicitly say that?
They kind of did.
They said no blacks.
Yeah.
You know, they just kind of redlined it up and they said, these homes are for white soldiers.
It's just what it is.
It's just what they did.
It's like when Robert Moses made the parkways.
Unfortunately. He made them lower. He made the overpasses low. So buses, which was most likely carrying black and Latino people from the city couldn't go out to Long Island. It's racist, but it's funny. It's racist. It's bad. There's nothing good about it. It was just what happened. It's called federal redlining when government and banking maps marked minority neighborhoods as hazardous. Denying federally backed mortgages to black and Hispanic homebuyers.
Not good.
That's what you call institutional racism.
that's just what it is.
You can't deny it.
If you're denying it, you're denying history.
That is institutional.
There's a definition of institutional racism.
They had the restrictive covenants in Long Island
where they said early planned communities like Levittown
used explicit deed restrictions
that prohibited selling homes to non-white buyers.
So if you weren't why I couldn't buy.
It's just that was part of the interview.
They said, Abla Español, and they said, yeah.
And they said, go back of that away.
Yeah, you can't come out here.
And then they said, I want you to use the word ask in a sentence.
And if they heard acts, they said, you have to go back that way.
Yeah.
So it's not right.
And it sucked too for the black and Latino people who fought in World War II,
far from our country couldn't live in Lung Island.
In Levittown.
It was really bad.
It was based on racism.
And then, you know, you had blacks moving up from the south and increasing and moving.
and moving to Brooklyn and Queens
so then more white people
were leaving.
That's what they call white flight.
They were going,
we don't want to live.
Unfortunately,
I mean,
I'm just saying what the conversation
was at the dinner table.
At that time,
it was going,
you know,
they were sitting there going,
Eileen,
what,
what do you,
you know,
the neighborhoods change it
and in a way
that both of us
is not comfortable with.
Yeah, we got to go.
Okay,
they were two,
they were three blocks over,
now they're two blocks over.
Yeah.
So,
yeah,
I picked up a pamphlet.
They building,
some nice homes out there
in a place called Plain Jew.
Yeah.
And we're just, we're getting a car.
Henry Ford has made the car.
Yeah.
And we're just going to go a little bit farther.
Yeah.
Commuting to work is worth it,
not to have to live where we used to live.
The neighborhood is changing.
There's nothing we can do about it.
Yeah, so we're going to go,
even though we don't necessarily love them,
but we just feel Jews are better than blacks.
We're just moving everyone.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
All right.
I'm just saying the commutes worth it.
Yeah.
What's an extra 15 minutes?
That's what it is.
That's what everybody said.
I mean, what's an extra 50 minutes?
Even though when you always say that, you know, even I said that when I moved, it's like,
what's an extra 15 minutes?
Then you realize the 15 minutes is more like 45 minutes because you're sitting in crazy traffic.
In traffic.
Yeah, you're sitting in traffic.
So the GI Bill, you know, made it very easy for these soldiers returning to buy these homes.
I think they sold it.
What was it like?
They gave it to them for like seven grand.
Okay.
But then they gave them loans to pay for it.
Then these guys.
there was a massive economic boom.
Everyone went to work.
America, that's when America became the top.
We were making so much money because the Marshall plan, right?
Marshall, General Marshall, who was the Army Chief of Staff, who then became, what was the Secretary of State.
Yeah.
He had this great idea.
He's the one of baseball.
Exactly.
Am I wrong on that?
No, he did.
Baseball.
Yeah.
He had the idea, much like Abraham Lincoln,
who also had the idea.
He said, listen, a former enemy is here.
We're going to remake them in our image.
Yeah.
Okay?
We're going to lend them all this money to rebuild them.
So that put a lot of people to work.
We continued our manufacturing base and what we had in motion.
I think they did.
And we started rebuilding land and the Germans.
Yeah.
We started rebuilding their countries.
Yeah.
And we said they'll make us appreciate them.
They won't turn communist because we'll be helping them.
And it really boosted our economy.
We were selling them food.
We were giving them because they were decimated.
So not only did we save Europe from Nazis,
we also rescued them afterwards by giving them money
and helping them rebuild through the Marshall Plan.
That's a nice thing that they did.
Through the penny Marshall Plan.
By the way, I just want to, before I forget,
I just want to say that at patreon.com slash history I amaz last week,
we could not pick a winner.
And it came down to three people.
And we always read out the winner.
And this is the closest one we've,
ever had in history.
We had, well, one got blown out with 10% of the vote.
We have, I use my girl's chimney as a cereal bowl for free cocoa puff.
Shout out to you.
On another list, you would have won.
You would have won.
But now, with one having 49% of the vote and one having 41% of the vote, we had me Chinese,
me play joke, we put fentanyl in your Coke at 41%.
But then the winner with a 49% margin, the slimmest margin we've had in the history of the show,
waterboarding, aka Muzzy Baptist.
We are the winner.
So go to History Aieners.
It's Back.com.
So you name up in lights.
That is patreon.com says,
history a an is where all the fun happens.
So sorry, just wanted to make sure
before I forgot.
And I also just wanted to address a little bit
of a controversy with this.
Okay.
A lot of people were upset that Indian hand bidet.
Right.
Indian bidet, yeah.
They just...
Which is wiping with your hands, right?
And I saw actually a lot of...
lot of people felt that Indian
Badee
should have been in there. I don't think
in the Indian
it's my job honey.
Yeah. I just had a visual
of myself at my daughter's school.
This is what daddy does.
I'm trying to figure out who wins between
Muslim baptism or Indian Badez.
I don't think
it would have been enough to beat Muzzy
baptism is what I'm said. Right.
Do you agree? Yeah. Because I was thinking should we do
a re-vote and include that, but we picked
what we picked.
Yeah.
And so it just is waterboarding,
aka Buzzy Baptist's the winner.
Yeah.
Even Janice drops acid to open his second eye,
thought Indian Vidae should have taken the place of Cocoa puffs.
By the way, has that guy been read yet?
I don't know.
That's a contender.
To beam or not to beam,
William Shake Square also says Indian Vaday was robbed.
A couple of other ones.
Yeah.
So yes.
By ALS makes for a challenging,
way, call me glugheric.
Also says Indian bidet.
Even me Chinese, me play joke.
We put fentanyl in your Coke.
Who was in the running said Indian bidet is better.
So interesting.
Yeah. And then he was called the Humble King because of that.
Humble King, which is really, really nice.
Vena Antifa.
Yeah.
Fuck, man.
I love waterboarding.
But whatever I read the Chinese, I had to sing it in my Chinese accent.
So that's an auto win now.
Yeah.
So these people are back there really contemplating some of the serious issues that our country
is facing today. Yeah, it's what it is, and that's
why we love our fans, we shout them out.
And yeah. Also, it accidentally
came in her ass now expecting
Leroy.
I always gonna vote for the most offensive
PPW for the potty. So that's his
filter that he uses
to select who the winner is. So it's just
you got a whole bunch of different people
over there. I love amongst this just and
Amanda Kate. Amanda Kate just wait in.
Just waited, yeah. Just one person who
has a fully formed roof
talking to a bunch of people with leaks in the kitchen.
Leaks in the roof. She's got just a natural picture of herself.
She's probably a piece. She's probably a teacher.
And she's just here for the content.
Yes. There's a couple of people we have back there that are absolute pieces.
There's women who constantly content, comment, who are, you look at their pictures and their pieces, and they know it.
And they are, I think they really enjoy the attention they're getting from a lot of these sloboring fucking guys back there.
Make no mistake. Yeah, I would assume the men who are fans are probably not the most handsome bunch.
And what is funny is whenever they comment, you can see the responses are always about that.
Yeah.
Which means that the guys saw a girl, clicked on it, blew up her picture, and took a peek.
It took a peek.
They just did.
They saw a girl come in and they just said, yeah.
Yeah, there's a couple of guys that I'm sure have printouts of the girls that they like in the matriarch.
And it's just what is you can't stop it.
You're going to risk that when you join our page.
It's like the guys who used to take Jasmine spin class with the camera off.
It's just what it is.
It's the risk you take.
Just a little bit.
Can we click on that?
We're not going to save the day again,
but I just want to see,
I just want to see what's going on.
Yeah.
Yeah, she's a piece.
Yeah, she's a piece.
Yeah, she's been on the Patreon
since March of 2021.
Yeah, so she's been there,
and so you just got to deal with that
that if you're a girl,
your name will get clicked on
and people, they're going to take a peek.
Yeah.
They want, they're going to take a peek
because it just, it is more guy-heavy back there.
We do want more people back there
to even it out.
Yeah.
But the type of Yuma he has,
Sometimes seems to lean a little masculine.
Yeah.
Even, even one of our fans staring at Yanni Santiths till he says, my eye is up here, waited, and said that he likes the rhyme schemes.
No one told us to do the Chinese accent, but we instinctually know we know how to do it.
Yeah.
So a couple of these people, I think maybe their names haven't even been read out yet, and they will be honorary.
We will give them the love they deserve because a couple of those deserve to make the list.
I don't think we've read their names yet.
And there's no way we're going to remember it anyway.
Yeah.
It's going to be like we're reading it for the first time.
But it is a fun bunch back there.
It's a fun time back there.
It's all just giggles and fun.
It's a little escape.
The community has fun.
They're funny.
I mean, you guys are really funny.
Yeah, I mean, even this guy says,
his name is Where the Wild Fumes are.
He says the names in the comments are gold,
but his name is gold.
Yeah, where the wild fumes are.
It's just a great.
It's a play on a children's book, and it's nice.
And here's the deal.
It's really nice because, you know,
our jobs are to make people laugh.
It's really nice to go to the Patreon once in a while,
because the fans make me laugh.
Oh, yeah.
It's really, I just want to give a shout out to you guys because...
Burlington Throat Factory is a really good one.
It's a good one too, yeah.
Instead of Coke Factory.
These people are very creative.
And they have a picture of Vito from Jackass as their profile picture.
We just attract very funny people.
Like the people who are like hardcore fans who join the community are just very funny.
We have the funniest fans by our landslide.
There's no question about it.
Because other podcasts have tried to copy what we do.
We won't name the names, but we know it.
And they're just, they're not even close to this.
I think it's close to an objective fact as you can come for whatever reason we're attracting very funny.
Yeah.
People who have a really fun sense of humor.
Yeah.
And don't take things too seriously.
So it's a lot of fun for us, which is nice.
Because Blue Chew Gold, thank you, Blue, Blue, for sponsoring to this podcast, for sponsored to my dick.
I literally would feel like if I didn't have blue chew, I wouldn't even have a cock.
Oh, it is the.
best. The new arousal boosting formula combines passion and performance into one tablet. It dissolves
right under your tongue real sexy for super fast onset. Nick was telling me he can't even edit the podcast
without a blue chew. I can't do nothing without a blue chew. Most ED meds only focus on blood flow,
but blue chew gold goes further by combining two ingredients for blood flow with two for mental arousal
and connections. So you're not just physically ready. You're actually in the mood. This type of innovation
is why Blue Chew Gold is the number one brand in a rectile function, and I'm telling you, because it works.
It works. It works. Look, it makes my dick hard. It makes my balls hard. It solves all problems, right?
Yeah. Maybe it with someone you're not attracted to anymore. Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter.
Blue Chew will help you out. Maybe you're a gay guy who's still in the closet having straight sex. Blue Chew will help you with that.

I mean, make no mistake because I've been to Levertown many times.
There's a comedy club out there, which I'll be in October called Governance.
Governance Comedy Club, which has really good food and really a lot of Long Island.
People like to go out there and just have a good laugh.
And I love Jimmy over there.
Jim is the best.
The best thing about Jimmy is I did one week in there and I brought my family, you know, my family.
My in-laws, Italians.
So he put them in a nice.
little booth and he gave him, he put him like a free bottle of champagne.
It's nice for them, yeah.
He came into the green room.
He's half Greek, by the way.
Oh, I didn't realize that.
So he came to the green room and he talked to me for maybe an hour and a half.
We laughed.
We told family stories.
And then I saw him at Gotham like two weeks later, and he looked at me like he didn't know
who I was.
Yeah, it's just what it is.
So that's what you got to love about it.
And that's just Jimmy, because making a mistake, Jimmy's an amazing guy, classy guy,
but he used to grow up rough, probably got hitting the head a little bit.
It just, you know, and he definitely.
And he definitely hit people in that.
He's just a long island guy.
Yeah.
And it's just nothing you can do about it, but you will get...
And you got to beep all this.
Yeah.
So this is just for the main, just...
And we're back.
Yeah, there's caps on all that.
But you didn't miss anything except inside baseball.
It's just what it is.
Now, because the thing is, you know, Levitown was made.
By the way, there's not only Levitowns in New York.
There's also Levitowns in Pennsylvania.
There's Levitowns all over to place.
Yeah, because that's what the kid did.
The kid had a highly successful business.
business model and he replicated it. He basically, he's subwayed. He franchised himself.
Right. And he said, we're going to build these homes everywhere. They were building them very
quick, very efficiently with these assembly lines that were already in place, like we said, from
World War II. The GI Bill FDR was making it all possible. And it was a little something for
the troops that were returning home. So if you had a little bit of what we call the nightmares,
at least you could wake out and look at your backyard. It's just what it is. If you woke it,
it was also probably the Sunday scaries. Yeah, it was probably also good for the community to have
these guys outside of city limits a little bit.
A little bit. You know they were coming back and they were waking up and they were seeing Charlie
everywhere. So you just don't want people like that living on top of each other. Yeah, let them
shoot their guns in the yard. Let them have a good time out there. Yeah. Don't want to really
be in Ridgewood where the Germans are. No. So that was, because that was probably an awkward
time in your neighborhood during World War II. Yeah. We don't think about how awkward that
must have been for Chris de Stephanos family. Yeah, a very historically German family,
you know, historically German neighbored in Ridgewood. And my family was living in Ridgewood in
the 40s. Yes. From what I heard, I did a little bit of research and at that time in Ridgewood
Queens during World War II, there were a lot of German people who were wearing durags
and they were light skin. Yeah. It was people walking around going, what's up? What's the deal?
You know what I'm saying? What's up? I'm from Puerto Rico and say you look a little red and light skin
for Puerto Rican and they go, I'm a little light skin. Yo, it's great that we're over there,
though. Yeah. We're over there, you know what I mean? Like, we over there. Like, it's good.
We're over there doing what we need to do to those crouts. Yeah, but that, yeah, but that, yeah,
But then if a Jewish person came walking down the block, they just knew it.
And they would say, Jude, dead!
Yeah, they just, that's the way you could identify.
Yeah, they act differently.
They act different.
Yeah, it's just a thing.
It's a knee-jerk reaction.
Do you ever think about how awkward that time period must have been for Lynn's parents and grandparents?
Yeah, I do think about it because my mom wasn't born yet, but you know what?
Because I got to be honest with you.
My mom came over, came up from Ridgewood yesterday, and she always brings us Linda tarts.
And every time I take a bite into a lintet tart, I just really wish history turned out a little different.
it. Do you think...
Last 14thene?
Do you think...
It is the best...
It's really good.
It's so good.
Lindsay's.
Do you think...
World War II,
Germans and Ridgewood
were just hovering around the radio.
Hover around the radio?
Like, remember where Jack Johnson
was fighting all those white boxes,
all the black people would hover around the radio
and just listen.
Just hoping Jack Johnson won.
Yeah.
Do you think the Germans...
Do you think that was happening in my house?
Yeah, they're just sitting around going,
come on, Adolf.
Come on.
Come on.
Let's go.
Ways your change.
You're down 3-0.
There's three balls, no strikes.
But come on, hit a homer.
You think my family, when they, you know, was announcing the radio that Hitler was going up towards St.
Petersburg, Russian, splitting his army.
You think they were going, what are you doing?
What are you doing?
What are you doing?
Yeah, they'll go, come on.
Come on.
Don't do that.
What the fuck?
Yeah.
Jesus Christ.
Put somebody else in.
Yeah.
This guy sucks.
It's a mistake.
Who does that in that situation?
Yeah.
Why do you go in a fucking Stalin garage?
Yeah.
What the?
Yeah.
Who does that?
I think.
Yeah.
Change the furor.
I think that, I think that it's probably true.
And I think that, I mean, because make no mistake, Ridgwood was just a heavily, heavily, heavily, heavily German immigrant on the island.
On the island.
So it's just there's absolutely no way.
Some of that wasn't happening in people's radios in their basement.
It's just people were just cheering on the Nazis and it's what it is.
Yeah.
Long Island didn't really become the Long Island we know now until about 1898.
And it was because people wanted to like keep things.
They were like, okay, we like this the way that it is.
We don't want to continue to have this urban sprawl hit us.
We like this suburban life.
So we're going to start divvying this stuff up.
Right.
And that's when Brooklyn and Queens, like, joined New York City.
And Long Island became its own thing.
And that was the beginning of, we don't want anything to do with you people.
Right.
That started with like you're going into the city.
Be careful.
You could catch a gay.
Yeah.
MS-13's on the windows.
That was the beginning of that.
We're out there.
Leave us alone.
You're down here.
We're Long Island people.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And now today, Long Island is just, you know, unfortunately what Long Island is
down, they're getting a high rate of breast cancer out there.
So we've got to figure out what's going on out there.
A lot of companies dumped a lot of stuff, a lot of golf courses that used a lot of chemicals.
Unfortunately, there was a study that says that if you, I hate to say this right now.
I know.
I've seen her to get the Parkinson's.
Yeah, like it's like a high rate.
High rate, but you have to, they said, so when we looked into it, supposedly,
the golf course that we live near
does, it was a certain
technique of the water runoff that
they've already taken care
of years and years ago.
And all, we have a water filtration
system in our basement.
But some studies say it doesn't matter.
It'll still get through. But it also, it's like
prolonged. You got to live there for like 10, 15
years. So we, you know, me, that's not
going to happen.
You know how we roll.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
So what we're talking about is
chemical contamination of the groundwater.
They did a study, and they linked the pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers containing nitrogen
and fungicide, other chemicals that make the turf are linked to, for some reason,
they saw a high incidence of Parkinson's to people.
And it's very funny that as soon as we closed on the house, I'm talking about we closed
on my house, I think July 30th of last year, like July 31st is when we saw this thing pop up in our
algorithm.
The problem is if you live out in areas, it's hard to not live close to a golf course.
There's golf courses in a lot of places.
Yeah.
Because the radius they gave was pretty wide.
Yeah.
Like it was like a, I don't know, like 100 miles next to a golf course or something.
Yeah, which that's almost everybody in the suburbs.
Yeah.
Maybe I'm exaggerating.
It's maybe not that much, but it was quite significant.
Yeah, they were saying something about like the what they have to do is like when they
poke the holes in the golf course to like release the air.
I don't know what it is, whatever that.
thing is is that's what that's what helps supposedly but also too you know people can say golf courses
can say we fix this problem but it's like how do you know yeah you won't know until you get Parkinson's
yeah now because did you know another interesting moment in history uh like the dutch had long island
first right remember brooklyn queens was part of it's named after Dutch words um then the English took it
from the Dutch, and then during your favorite point,
the Revolutionary War, there was a very,
there was very famous, very famous battles there.
In Long Island.
Yes, the Battle of Long Island.
Which is the Battle of Brooklyn.
And by the way, it's called Long Island
because it's not that interesting,
it's just a Long Island.
It's just an island that's long.
It's just an island that's long.
It's just very long and slender.
It's just long and so it's only 23 months.
miles and width, so it's very narrow, and it's long, so they just, what we're calling it Long Island.
It's got to be like a hundred miles in length, right? I mean, how long is Long Island? It's
very long. It's long. Yes, see, the Battle of Long Island also called the Battle of Brooklyn,
my favorite battle. That's your favorite. And some of it, guess what? Here's what's interesting
about the Battle of Brooklyn and why, you know, you're so connected to what I think. Number one,
it happened on your birthday. August 27th. Well, that's not my birthday, but close enough. Oh, August
25th is your birthday. I think that's closer to your birthday. I'm August 26th. So it's closer to
But also, do you know, one of the main points of that battle was where you grew up in Park Slope in that little park?
They have that little house in, you know, on Fifth Avenue in that park.
That's where Battle of Brooklyn happened.
That's where all the plaques are.
That's where the British occupied home there.
And we're one of the, you know, mounting battles.
And then when we moved to Bay Ridge, those shores that we saw underneath the Arizona Bridge, that's where the boats came in on the Battle of Brooklyn.
Yeah.
And also the famous fog story where George Washington,
was able to, because of Jesus Christ as well,
as we said last week, yeah.
Was able to evacuate 9,000 revolutionaries.
Right.
And from that point on, they made it to the city.
Those were the first people to make it big in the city.
They came from, that was the first bridge and tunnel crowd.
It's just what it is.
And they were like, they got there and they were like, wow, these buildings are tall and this is great.
And I'm not going back.
This is nice.
And then those guys started to meet girls who had like,
liberal opinions and open the minds and they started accepting gay people and things and they were
the first people to come from conservative homes in the suburbs it's just what it and just moved to the
city and be like we like it here better it's just what it gives because what happened at that point
was the british took over the whole island the long island skumbags and and and the revolutionaries in
george washington they had they were in Manhattan yeah they were in the city they were in the city there
so during war i mean long island was mostly occupied by the british and that's when we started
having those spy rings.
Yeah.
That we had some...
Cold Pepper Spy Rhy.
The Cold Pepper Spy Ries out there on the island.
On the island, that's why you and I got to take a drive out to Sotaket.
Yeah.
Tartucket is where the Cold Pepper Spy Ring really was, and we got to get out there to
Sotkutkut.
Yeah.
And we had guys in there that were telling our guys about what these redcoats were doing.
Yeah.
Because they were spies back then.
They were spies back then.
You know, the part of the Cold Pepper Spy ring has a lot to do with Benedict
Donnell.
We're going to do a whole episode on the Cold Pepper Spy Rine.
I often try to think what, if you...
If those guys could like, they probably have fun.
Like, let's say they're on the other side somewhere and they're just watching.
Like, this is like a TV show or something.
It must be really entertaining for them to see what Long Island looks like now.
Right.
Like they were on these, they were fighting these battles.
It was all rural when they come back.
It's just a bagel store.
Yeah.
Jim Serpico just got his bread.
He's got his pizza truck.
He's got his pizza truck selling.
Yeah, the Long Island mediums out there.
Yeah.
The Long Island mediums out there.
John Edwards is out there.
Yeah.
For some reason.
The bagel boss is out there.
Eagle boss is out there.
He's still doing his thing.
Yeah.
It's just very interesting.
Yeah.
A lot of guys are getting their eyebrows turned.
Yeah.
They got Rosenfeld Field Mall.
Yeah.
Go in there to Walt Whitman Mall.
Yeah.
Walking around.
It's out there.
Yeah.
You got a lot of traffic.
Yeah.
Just a lot of bar mitzvahs happening.
It's just a lot of things that these guys
probably couldn't have foreseen.
Let's see this guy.
Is this the best strip mall on Long Island?
And I would like to get inside the mind of her old school
Revolutionary War ghost seeing
if this is what Long Island's come.
Here it is.
It just would be pretty weird for them, right?
Yeah, yeah, he's just the best strip mall on Long Island.
Here's this guy, yeah.
This is an ancient recipe from the mines, 8,000 years old.
That's that clutch, that's what?
How's your air?
How's your air?
How's your air?
Perfecto or peanuts?
Buy peanuts?
Perfecto to the fat show.
Yeah.
Prefecto barme. Perfecto flavors.
Do it a slice.
Look at that.
Marius pizza.
Perfecto tacos.
We got the perfecto pizza.
They do have good pizza out there, right?
The best pizzas on Long Island.
Italian food on Long Island is just, it's next level stuff.
Yeah.
The bagel's on Long Island.
Careful, it's hot.
Town bagel, I think, is the best bagel consistently I've had in my entire life.
And I grew up in Brooklyn, New York.
Yeah.
And I will say town bagel, okay?
Every time you're at your mother-in-law's house, you do not leave there without going to town bagel.
We go to town bagel, and then we order from La Piazza.
It's just what we do.
I like to go to town bagel, and I like to see a poster of Chris Wyman up.
It's just what I want to do.
Chris Wyman's a kid.
He'll hurt you.
He will hurt you bad.
He'll hurt you bad.
he knows how to leg sweep.
And he also has a Puerto Rican wife.
It's just what it is.
And today my UFC instructor taught me how to leg sweep and slap somebody in the face at the same time.
You're ready for Dana White's slap?
Yeah.
I mean, what is going on with that power slap?
What is going on with power slap?
Because power is still doing it.
Power slap is crazy too because just because you get not, like you get hit, you get knocked the fuck out.
I know.
It's just really, every time you see a clip of that, all the comments are going, please stop.
nobody says they like it
and it's just what is the sport
because to me it just looks like hostage hitting
yeah I don't yeah good best match in power slip history
does anybody not get knocked unconscious
they all I mean it's right
like you can't win unless you get fully knocked
down what is the sport of a guy
putting his arms behind his back and getting slapped
yeah I don't get it it's just hostage
hitting it's what you do to a hostage
to get information
I mean are people really into it
I mean could you imagine
banging at Chiia leader at Texas Tech
how hot she would
be. It would be nice. I mean, does anyone talk about power slap? Do you ever, is anyone tuning in for
power slap? I've never once considered channel surfing and seeing power slap now. I think it's just
Dana White's ego going, no, we're going to keep doing this. We're just going to keep doing this.
I mean, these guys just get fully knocked unconscious. Yeah. I mean, there's people in the crowd,
so I don't know. It has to be an open hand slap, though. You can't punch. Yeah, no, there's got to be
some correlation between this sport and our downfall. Yeah. As a nation, there has to be. There has to be.
to be historians will look back and be like this is this is the moment one of those things where like if
they put it in that movie idiocracy it would make perfect sense 100% there is something that makes
me very uncomfortable about the sport knowing that people are watching it it's just what it is
something going like I don't get it but you know the thing is when you look at the comments it is
100% ridiculing it yeah there's never anyone who going you know who my favorite power slapper
no no no I love ken dalton Ken dalton is a great power slap yeah nobody knows anything about
these guys.
Let's see what the comments say there.
Yeah.
It's always negative.
Yeah.
It's always like, why are you doing this?
Yeah.
Why is Dana White doing this?
100%.
Oh, wait.
Can't wait?
Incredible athletes?
Let's see.
But let's see.
This might be all bought and paid for.
Yeah, yeah.
Scroll down a little bit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Why can't I post the words athlete or professional?
Yeah.
Look at theirs.
I guess, bro.
I guess, bro.
Yeah.
Yeah.
These are paid for.
Yeah.
The other ones are paid for.
This one's not paid for the hieroglyphics.
Yeah, there we go.
Yeah.
I guess there was just an Islamic woman who had a lot to say about power slap.
That's a real person.
Don't think that was gone paid for.
That's how you know it's not real.
Yeah, I mean, look at all these people.
Yeah, it's just paid for.
Yeah, it's just what it is.
It's just, I don't know what he's doing.
Nobody's into it.
Who's paying to see someone get slapped just go downtown?
Yeah, look at that video of Brian Riega.
Just look at it.
Brian Riggins is a 10 out of 10.
Stupid.
Yeah, A.C. Slater's stupid.
Fat Chinese baby laughing, smoking cigarettes.
Let's view the hidden comments.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's what it is.
Damn, the sports should be bad.
Yeah.
Because they're insulting themselves.
Yeah, it's just what it is.
It's just something that we have to deal with.
All right, baby. Thank you so much.
We're here every single week. We love you.
Yeah.
Go visit the island.
And like and subscribe to YouTube.com slash history.
I mean, that really makes a big difference for us.
So please do that.
I love you.
Yeah, go write a review and all that.
What we like to do in the live show is we read out the name.
Some of them are good, some of them are bad, some of them people don't even want to be identified
Is we read them out and then we like all by audience applause and laughter on who's gonna make the list and who's not
Okay, so you guys you guys decide you guys decide based on how funny it is
We'll choose yeah, okay, so yeah so yeah so by the way we totally skip them like they didn't even exist
Okay, so but yeah but they're I mean they're just your basic
basic fucking cookie cutter whites yeah, that's where it is
Oh, you're Hispanic Dias? Oh wow okay Cuban
Cuban? Maybe there is something interesting.
Yeah, you guys are sneaky. You're like the
white Hispanics. They can pass white.
Connecticut? No, Cuban.
Huh? Florida. Florida. Cuba. So you know about them.
So, do you guess where they map then?
Probably at a Trump rally, considering she's Cuban.
Cubans go for Trump. Big.
Okay. Here we go.
Her dad, I know, yeah.
Big Trump. Yeah, no. He was not happy when you fucking came
with home with a demo, a guy who
hot shot. He looks like
he campaigns for Kamala kind of thing, right?
Oh, he does. You do have a little bit of, like, Pete Buttigieg face.
Yes.
The Buttigieg.
Is that true, though? Is he like liberal?
And dad was upset about it?
No, I wouldn't say that.
She's like, no, he's racist.
He literally says slurs and he's late.
You actually don't even know.
No. Even my father was like, that guy goes hard.
He's fucking scumbed.
Okay.
I want to just say, I know there's a lot of people
having a good time, but for the 40% of people
having a bad time that we can feel,
the show's almost over.
So, it's just what it is.
It's hot outside, it was raining,
and you know, sometimes you got,
sometimes you do live shows
and you do experiments, and you just say,
on to the next one, we won't do that again.
But these are the shows that you want to be a part.
You really want to be a part of this.
What do you want to be a part of?
Oh, we're blowing the fucking roof off?
remember forever? That's not why you paid
$20.5.000.
You want to Steve the stinkers.
Yes. You want to be like, how
was the show? It'd be like it was like an
awkward new AA meeting where
they were just asking people
what their story was.
Yeah. This is what we wanted to see.
You want to see, you know, we met people from Chrissy's hometown.
You know, he ruined his life with a woman
from Georgia. And there were guys
from Yemen in the front row and some Cuban
bitch. And a guy who...
And don't forget the pilot who's
also not a pilot.
He's a flight instructor.
He's going to be the only pilot in fucking shorts.
He's never actually flown a plane.
Okay. All right, here we go.
Leading off the list, Italia the hut.

Here's the final.
And we pick a winner.
Trans in a short skirt,
call me Johnson B. Danglin.
That's a top contender right there.
Mom Dani mandates prayer rugs
and Crown Heights driveways.
Stick around.
Or how do I tell my brother
his first wedding was better?
Those are three good ones, actually.
What do you guys think?
What do you guys think?
Round of applause for trans and a short skirt called me Johnson B.
Dangling.
Okay?
Round of applause for Mom Dany.
Mom Donnie mandates prayer rugs and Crown Heights
Driveways.
That's bigger.
And then, how do I tell my brother his first
wedding was better?
That's the winner. That's the winner.
Name up in lines. How do I tell my brother
first wedding was better? And sometimes that
just happens, guys. Sometimes it is.
We would prefer if it didn't happen on a live
show, but it happens how it happens.
It happens how it happens, but I do feel
that overall, it was good because I had the positivity in light of our
Middle East and brothers and sisters.
I think it was a beautiful, beautiful time.
Eastern European, cocaine addict guy.
We had him to lay on the plane.
We had people from my hometown in Ridgewood.
We got a woman outside waiting to kill you after the show.
We got a little bit of everything.
You know?
We got the Trinidadian sisters.
Trinidadian sisters who this might, unfortunately, not be their last show.
They might say, you know what?
We came to a couple, and they were stinkers.
Yeah.
She could just, like, she could have learned to speak at the DM.
MV or something. What do you mean?
Like she, her mom just had her the DMV a lot
and there's a lot of people were angry and yelling.
Oh, the Brooklyn League. Yeah.
That's possible.
It's possible. It's possible.
Well, James, James Madden came up here.
He did a great job.
You know, and sometimes,
listen, sometimes you got to just
fucking deal with you. Sometimes you got to
figure out a way to walk off without
a bit of applause.
Sometimes we got to figure out how to
exit this thing and make it feel like a finale
when it's not. Right.
Yeah, and sometimes you just have to tell people
the truth. It's that wasn't our best
performance, but you unfortunately can't get your money
back. So that's...
In the rule book, it says that
you do just have to pay in full
for this.
No, you guys, was it a good time? Did you have a good time?
They're glad. They'll lie. I think they have a good
time. Yeah, I think they
really had a good time.
I think more
a lot of people here wish we spoke
to them. I think they're a little jealous, but we can't get
to all you. We're going to do this again next month.
We're going to do it every single month.
And we said that. We're going to do it every
single month, and it's, you know,
August. And the last
one we did was in March.
So, we say a lot of things
and then we just don't do them.
But this time we really will, right,
Yonis? Absolutely. Yeah, because... And we
will figure out how this format is going to go
one way or the other. I think making up their history
is good, but I think the thing
that we have to do is have themselves.
submit things, like, let us write it out before.
So how do we do that? How do we get that information? How do we know what tickets?
Don't know. Yeah.
I know how to come up here and be silly and then run out of energy.
I know how to get up here for about 40 minutes and then I run completely out of gas.
I don't know how to do the business part. I don't do any of that.
I make up these whole... I'm not even Italian or from New York. I'm just talking...
I don't need the family. It's all made up.
It's all a play. Yes. Yes. I don't even know what it means. That's not the real me.
Hey, I'm from Missouri.
Yeah, we'll figure it out.
Well, you were, this was less painful for you
because you're hiding behind the glasses.
I'm behind the glasses so they can't see my eye.
Yeah, I'm out here.
I'm out here in fucking Lulu Lemon sweats.
I got sweat-whip and dripping down my back
from the top of my ass crack.
It's like, fucking slitch-wash.
Should we go off opposite state?
Are you, because you have to walk longer than I do?
Why, you want, you're trying to get the shortest?
But you're going to try to shim me out.
I hope you fall over the drum set.
That would be a fun way to end as you fall and collapse over the drop set.
No, I actually want to go behind you and I'm going to squat down
just in case that Ukrainian girl comes in and shoots you in the head.
We did say in the back, we were like, look at her, she looks hot, and then she's a big problem.
Yeah.
Well, she asked how your marriage was going because she came all the way here to try to have an affair with you,
and then her husband's definitely not American.
She's lying about that.
He is fighting in the Georgian War.
He's going to live and come back and fuck.
and murder you. And you'll be on the run and you'll be excited about it because you'll get the tingle
and that's what you like. It's just what it is and that is the truth. And if he wants to murder me,
I'm going to say, get in line, buddy. Get in line. All right, have a good night. Take care. Good night.
