Set nine, disparaging comments about the Alabama State University plus size dance team, the honeybees going viral this week. They came from an announcer with Florida A&M's universities marching 100 band during a halftime show. Southwest at that conference has since announced repercussions, But a former member of the collegiate plus-sized dance team says, that's not going to cut it. Your reporter James Giles talked with an alum of the honeybees and James, how did she hear those remarks? Well, Steve Brittany, Ionan Coleman, says she understands the announcer may have been trying to be funny, but to her, those words cut deep.

A video online shows halftime at Famu this past Saturday. That's when the announcer says the honeybees are the new face of Ozempic. Coleman says the comments were more than a bad joke. She tells me they hurt the dancers and others who look up to the team. Here's her message to that announcer and to anyone who may feel discouraged by his remarks. Why would you make a comment that could be fat shaming and disrespectful to young ladies who are trying to bring light to being who they are, which are plus size women doing something positive?
