Because I was in track and field. If a guy would, like, dressed as a woman like her and everything and race to other girls, I think the coaches, everybody would run the track and, like, gravel. Yeah. Everybody would have.

Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's such a different freaking, world from when we was in high school. Yeah, and it's not for the better. I don't know how this is happening. I really don't. It's so bizarre. I was thinking of some videos of which you do. I couldn't do it. Yeah. I get car sick. That shit is nuts what you're doing. Yeah. I'm the only person that can make me car sick, and it's only at a certain part of the world,

like going really, really fast at like 28 miles an hour in a particular part of Baja where it's just up and down. You know, most of it is, you know, my former motorsports, my truck doesn't accelerate well, slow down very well, and it doesn't like to change direction. Where it excels, just like, you know, all the other trucks in the field is going fast in a straight direction and going through big bumps.

So when I have to, like, navigate going very slow through, you know, very technical areas, then I, like, kind of like, oh, my God. I'd thrown up in the truck a couple times. Really? Yeah. You're doing a race? Yeah, it's just this. I ought to pass out in your truck.

It's just this, like, 40 miles of Baja that make me absolutely. miserable. Right. But, yeah, I just fill my suit up with barf and then after I get out of that section, then I'm going to go. Wow. That's crazy, man. You won the Baja 1000 twice consecutively, right?

And it's called the Iron Man fashion. Yeah, Iron Man fashion. Most teams have, you know, two or three drivers. I drove the entire distance. That's very tiring. That's the Iron Man. Yeah. Ivan Stewart was like the OG Iron Manion.

And, you know, back in the 90s, he always did the Bahamas. He was known for doing the Baham 1,000, doing all the driving. Because you're in the truck in the most brutal environment, going as fast as you can over crazy terrain for 21 hours, 22, 22 hours. So it's pretty difficult. How did you get into that? How did you get in that style of racing? You know, it started as kind of like a hobby with my family when I was. a lot younger and then I started having some success.

I saw you with your dad. Yeah. Beginners luck. Oh yeah, he was like to. Yeah, yeah. He said, I'm doing some jumps now. That's crazy. You was a kid doing it.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, my dad's pretty cool. He's, he's been from Vegas too. He was involved in a lot of the development and the resorts on the strip and stuff like that. Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah.

So I started racing with him in a buggy. Um, a long time ago. and then we got into trucks, and then I had some marketing partnerships, got involved with Monster, General Tire, and eventually it turned into, you know, an operation like it is today. They stole it. They were calling out your ass. Yeah, yeah, they did. I mean, when they had that first, they came out with their first coffee, was in the bag. I forget what it was called. Yeah, I forgot the name. It was freedom or something.

And then to see what these guys are now, and they take you from Monster. And those guys are like your good friends, huh? Yeah, I've been friends with them for a long period of time. Like, I do a lot of, I've done a lot of firearms training for 20 years. And I have a lot of friends that are Tier 1, SF guys, Sealed Team guys, Rangers, all those guys. I saw some of your videos.

You were like 007. Yeah. A little bit better looking. Yeah. Yeah, but you're too sexy, man. Thanks for that. That was gay. Yeah.

But like with a similar auto rifle, like an air 15, I'm okay. With a bull gun, I'm not crazy good. I basically dedicated all my bandwidth as it relates to system operation with a handgun. So I'm really, really fast and really accurate with a handgun and the rest of the stuff. I'm like, that's just crazy. You got to be a criminal's nightmare. You actually got into a shooting with someone. What did that happen at? That was actually right up here on 215 and Tropicana. Oh, really? Oh, okay. Yeah, it was like three weeks after COVID and you were just able to go through the

drive-through, like food, but you still couldn't go inside and stuff. Yeah, I went to, I went to go get something to eat late at night with my girlfriend Tori. You know the freaks come out late at night, right? Well, I thought this was a very good part of town. You know, I've never seen anything. It was right next to my house. I've never seen any, you know, crazy stuff happened there.

But the guy that I got in the engagement with, he started shooting at Tori and I, and I returned fire. There was an exchange of gunfire. Wow, you're very lucky, huh? Yeah, gunfights are not something I, I just wanted to get a hamburger. So it was like, hey.

You know, and then that happened, which was, man, it was a very strange thing. Right. Following that and how, because I'm, you know, pretty high profile person in motorsports. Right. And seeing how everybody reacted to that. It was actually really, I felt pretty cool. Not cool, but I felt like loved. Yeah.

You know, it's like dying and everybody's, you know, oh, we're going to miss them. But you don't die. Right. Because everybody's like, oh, my God, I'm glad you're okay. I'm glad you're safe. You know, how's everybody doing? And people were checking on me and stuff, which was really cool to see that kind of support for my family. My fans are, you know, my family and, you know, all my team, they're super, super awesome.

What did the guy look like? He was six foot five, eight hundred and fifty pounds. Damn. That's what he looked like. Like a gorilla? Yeah. What the fuck? You got attacked?

You're going to in and out from a gorilla? Well, he looked like he was 850 pounds at the time. I was like, you know, pretty scary looking guy. Pretty scary looking guy. Would he have a bunch of tattoos and stuff? No, just there was no exchange of words or anything. There was no, you know, it was just like speedwalking up with a handgun pointed at both of us. Oh, he had a gun out.

So he already had his, he already had his gun out. Wow, that's crazy. Most, most gun fights, you know, when I got my CCW, you don't even get the opportunity to pull your gun out. Only thing that you, only thing, well, the main reason why you was able to probably counter him because you're so good with your, with your pistol. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've done like 45 combat and gun classes and a handful of different achievements was really supposed to balance of speed and accuracy. Like challenge coins and stuff like that. So, yeah, it was, it was already out. I was like, okay, this is going to be an exchange of gunfire.

He obviously thinks this is some kind of assault or robbery or whatever. I'm not going to let him get any closer to her. And I was like, okay, I'll try and create a counter-amblush opportunity in the next second to half. Or capitalize on one he provides, where his attention is divided for a moment. Or I'll just go and, like, if I get shot, she can drive me in the hospital after I brought these guys.

I've seen you when you draw your weapon, yeah. It's like that and it's out. You sound like 007. What is it? Like a white guy or something? He was two African-American guys. Oh, shocker there. You guys get a asses of a lot.

reach out to me and say like what the fuck you know you're racist and all this stuff and you shot them you shot him so many times because you wouldn't have shot him that much if he was white. That's the thing. People don't understand when you shoot somebody you revert to your training so if you practice a bunch of quick firearm techniques your body when you're in a

right-off. And when you're shooting somebody defend your life, he's got your gun out so you're going to shoot him to the threat that's no longer there until there's no more activity. Ain't nobody going to shoot you in the leg. Yeah, if he would like dropped his gun ran for me then I would be like fuck let's go home.

Yeah, but he started shooting at her. He shot at her twice, shot at me six times. Wow. So it wasn't like, you know, it was a pretty wild exchange. Did y'all get anything to eat afterwards? Yeah, I'm like, fuck these burgers. No. It's probably her idea.

Back up hungry. You're like, I don't know it's pretty late. You know what comes out of nights. No, we were still, I didn't know what this was. So I was like, okay, after it was over, you know, he hit my car, the tire during the exchange, one of the rounds, hit the tire of my car. And as soon as it was over, and this was a very far exchange. This, you know, started at 14 yards, ended at the 26 yards.

It was dark. All the lights were off in the parking lot. And we weren't there for very long. We just went to go eat, you know, out of the car. I had smoked cigarettes at the time, which obviously I quit a long time ago. And we were like, what the fuck? And then drove home, what was this? I didn't know if this was some kind of assignment or something like that.

And then I had to make sure my son and everybody was okay, make sure my dad was okay because they don't live too far away. Right. And then called it in and went through that whole thing, which was very interesting. That's crazy. I don't understand what's going through these people's mind when he's trying to rob somebody because nobody carried

cash anymore? Well, I had a pretty speedy car. Oh, okay. You think we're trying to take your car. Maybe. Yeah. But I don't,

there's nothing that would lead me to believe that he was interested because it was... Black culture, man. Well, you think it was like he was trying to hurt you because he was white and handsome or?

No, honestly, I just think... Like his sexy, 007. Going to get him a damn hamburger. Yeah, I gained him full shit to eat.

Because I'm being oppressed. No, actually, he was just, like, I did my research on the guy. Oh, you did? Oh, you did? Yeah, so. Background, chicken. Yeah, he was. A little late for that background.

He was going through, like, some stuff. And I looked at the toxicology report, and he had, like, he had a bunch of, I'm not going to feel, or I don't give a shit stuff in his system. And I'm not going to feel it anyway stuff. And alcohol and a little bit of cocaine and stuff like that. And the second person, there was two guys. It was him and another guy. The original plan was to vandalize this gun store. He had some altercation with early in the night.

So he drug his brother along. He was like, you know, he was kind of bullying his brother. Like, you got to fucking come with me. And he's like, fuck. I don't want to. So he drug his brother along. And then at the last minute, he saw me. and made a left and pulled this gun out and then, you know, mayhem happened.

That's got to be a traumatic experience. Do you have any, like, like, any stuff lingering from that? You or your girl? Tori does. She struggles with it a little bit, and she's working through it. It's got to be hard for her just to go out. Yeah. At times.

Yeah, I mean, me personally, like, maybe it's because it might have something to do that with throughout my motorsports career I thought I was going to be done like I've been on fire five or six times you know car caught fire I've crashed race cars very high rate of speed so I've had that in my head

where okay this is the day probably 300 times right so I've been able to compartmentalize like adrenal response and fear for a certain for certain point in time right and then or delay fear and then like get scared later

like holy shit this just happened so and yeah there was also a very large volume of of people after like three weeks after it happened that accused me of doing something else i think it was like intermingled with the george floyd thing you know in the country when everybody the way everybody looked at stuff was different so i got a lot of support at first and then there was a small volume people that oh you know they didn't want to Touch it. They had, yeah, they had, like, different theories of what happened. Right.

Like, it was wild. It was super, super wild. Because you're a white, right? Yeah. Yeah, well. And no shit. White and good looking, that's not a good combination. White, successful and good looking.

Yeah. People got to hate you. Come back with sorry-ass Negro. One o'clock. How late was it? Like 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock to the morning? It was, uh, it was about 12.30. Yeah, it's late.

Yeah, it was super late. But I'm, I'm like, I don't go to bed. until three. Yeah. And I get five or six hours of sleep. So most nights I go to bed pretty late. And this was obviously everything was happening with COVID. And I had a bunch of people that were smarter than me telling me the sky was falling.

And, you know, home invasions were going up. Yeah. People was desperate. That's a thing out here. Yeah. People's desperate, man. Couldn't work, couldn't do anything. Yeah.

And I understand that. You know, that's, but my God, like, that the world was really different for for quite some time. Yeah, yeah. I think, I mean, I don't think we've reverted back to normal, normalcy yet because things are pretty crazy right now. Yeah. Yeah, when are we getting back there?

I don't know. I think it's gone, man. You think so? I think those are the good old days. Oh, my God. That's terrifying. But I do love the way you say that. Those were the good old days.

Back in, I would say, like, probably the late 70s or early 80s in that time frame when Biden was, he would be RFK today. He'd be a liberal. He would. He changed so much. Like the Democrat parties changed so much. like he was totally against, you know, same-sex marriage.

Like, he was friends like with that guy Robert Byrd. He did a eulogy for a former clan member. Oh, yeah. I saw something like that. Democrats used to be liberal. Now they're progressive. Yeah. I really, I can deal with the 1975 to 1985 Joe Biden.

I could probably deal with that. I can deal with Bill Clinton. I could deal with Bill Clinton. It makes sense. But when I look at these two parties now, when I look at Democrats, They're no longer liberal. They're progressive. And now when I look at Republicans, they're liberal.

They always reach out to me. me when something happens. I see like my demon like, oh, this happened, what should I do? Because I have, obviously, I have experienced being a lethal force scenario. So the guy got in an engagement in traffic. He's got like an F-350. And it was like some road rage thing.

And this guy was like, you know, F you or whatever. I think I know the guy you talking about. Jared? He was out here? No, this one was in California. Oh. I know that it's hard to keep up. Yeah.

But the guy got out and shoot. Sounds like a guy we went shooting with here. Well, there was, there was, there wasn't even an exchange of gunfight. This guy had a gun and then he got out of the car and shot up the window and this guy drove along. We got shot in the neck. And so now he's just, he's just saying this guy's, he was just getting, he went, he went to jail, got, you know, booked and everything. And he got out like the next day. What?

And he went like six or seven months before they had a hearing. Now he's gotten booked. He's going to jail for a little bit. Right. So just go out. That's crazy. Get out of jail like the next day without bail or anything. Yeah.

Soft on crime. Yeah. That is crazy. Like that guy that you got in the firefight work. Yeah. I'm sure he had a history. I'm pretty sure he shouldn't have been out on the streets. Yeah.

He was a very exciting guy. You had a rap sheet? Yeah, he had some stuff. going on. And again, like, I don't hate him either. Yeah. At the end of the day, what sucks about that? Oh, somebody shoots at me and my girl, oh, I hope you burn in hell. See, you're Christian. We're struggling Christians.

Struggling Christians. I'm praying that he's roasting in hell right now. No, I mean, he's got like, you know, I do my research and I see all this stuff on this, on this guy that, you know, I got an exchange of gunfire with. And, you know, he's got three kids. he's got a girl that really cares about him so like now these three kids don't have their father because of this incident's because he decided to try and assault somebody you know what's sad about that he don't care about those kids he would never put himself in that position i feel bad for the kids but i don't feel sorry for that guy because you and your girl it's a strong possibility

you couldn't have been here right now yeah i i think it was because i've seen so much evidence that he did care about his kids I think it's a small moment in time where I don't care about anything. I just want to burn the world down. And, you know, certain compounds that you can get prescription writ for, you know, if you take too much of that stuff, then you'd be like, I don't care if my body's on fire.

I just want to burn the world down. Right. And I think that it was that and alcohol and a bunch of other stuff. So, but... So you don't think at that moment in time, he wasn't, he wasn't himself. I really don't.

He was like a big bad dude, you know, and he's been involved in, you know, certain shady things. Right. Time, time again. I think we all have. Yeah. Well, not to that level. Yeah, but we never got caught. But, you know, like we're all, you guys are a little bigger than me, but we're strong dudes.

Yeah. If you unplug that reasoning from us, you know, we can have some fucking fun. Right. You know what I'm saying? We could mess some stuff up. And certain compounds that you can take, you mix them with alcohol, then you have a monster, you know?

Right. Yeah. You know, when I'm drinking, I've seen people, like, attitudes totally change when they drink. Like, I see people, some people are mean drunks. And some people, they like to talk. Me? I get tired.

Goofy and just laughing and just being an idiot. Yeah. We're not aggressive at all. It enhances me with what I already got going. So when I get drunk, I'm real just laughing. I just want to lay down and just chill. Yeah. Well, it depends on rate of intake and, for lack of a better turn, compound.

Like, if you're drinking, like, Pops Blue Ribbon or, you know, Budweiser. I turn it to a redneck when I'm drinking. You do. I go get my rubber flag and everything. Yeah, boy. If you drink, like, wild turkey, like, I barely drink, and I'm very careful when I drink. But, like, if you drink wild turkey, you're like, man, this dude's a, annoying me, I want to throw him through the wall.

You know what I'm saying? Like the guy at the bar that's like getting on girls and stuff. You got some trauma from riding them trucks. Yeah, maybe a little bit of TBI. Hey, I was looking at a video. This guy probably means the world to you. His name was Larry Ranklin. Oh, Ragland, yeah. Raglin, yeah.

How influential was he to you in your career and racing off-road? Oh, Paramount. Before him, I couldn't parallel park. Oh, really? I saw his video. he said man when he first drove with you yeah drove from crazy yeah oh he was he was very aggravated he said i'm gonna i'm gonna take the keys for me because i'm like sliding the thing right we're in we're in my pre-runner and i'm sliding the truck around in and baha i'm like you know

this dude was my hero growing up i saw him win all kinds of stuff you pissing off your hero so yeah like fuck that's a rough feeling right so and then you know gradually uh you know i developed a relationship with him and started pre-running with them more. And pre-run is like studying the race course before race day. And then he's got to take a liking to me. And I was very respectful like, yo, you're the samurai. I want to learn everything. And I was very, very dedicated to listen to everything he had to say

and even write down shit that he didn't mean to say to me or stuff that slipped out about certain ways he does things. And he helped me a lot. Like I wouldn't have age. I wouldn't have one championship if it wasn't. So he was your custom motto? Yes. Yeah, he was like a custom motto to me.

And I've learned from a lot of other people, you know, that at the time were a lot better than me. And I've been so passionate about off-road racing. I've been so passionate about Baja, trying to, like, rip pages out of other people's books and gloom in my book as released in my skill set and stuff I'm able to do. that helped a lot. Just picking up every little bit of information that you can learn and apply it to your game. And I've had some certain amount of success with that. Your sister bought you your first real truck, right?

My first buggy, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You used to have power by your sister on that? Yeah, yeah, I did for a while. Yeah, my sister, my sister's 11 years older than me. She got me my first little race car. I think it was like 11, $12,000. So your dad, your sister, you had a lot of support.

Did they ever try to beg, hey, this is dangerous. I don't want you to get hurt. You're being tall and handsome. No, well, yeah, a little bit from my dad. Like, my dad never wanted me to Ironman the Palm 1000. We didn't. Yeah, for 10 years. We wouldn't let me do it.
