Finally, a horror movie that shows the true monsters are Irish businessmen.
We saw Halloween 3 Season of the Witch, so you know what that means.
Now it's time for How to This Get Made?
Come to have a good time, celebrate some failure, not just be a hater,
because you know you wonder, how did this campaign?
Let's follow in the mediocrity of subpar art.
Perhaps we'll find the answer to the question, how did this get made?
Hello, people of Earth and welcome to how did this get made.
I am joined as always by my two co-host, June Diane Rayfield.
How are you, June?
I'm great, Paul.
How are you, Joe?
Very good.
And Jason Manzuka, how are you, Jason?
Pretty good, Paul.
Pretty good.
This week, we do not have a guest.
Fuck guests.
How does this get made first?
This is just a three of us.
Is that true?
It is, yeah, the first time we have not had a guest.
We've had many times where we've had not one of us.
Always had a guest.
Just a little bit of them.
Is this the people on the boards are going to freak out?
What is going conspiracy theories?
The show has jumped the shark.
I will say that I don't revel in anybody's downfall,
but I got a lot of tweets today that Paul Hogan is getting a divorce after 23 years.
So I figured I'd mention that.
I don't know if our podcast played a part.
Sorry, Paul.
Wait, but she's single?
Well, Linda Kozwaski is back on the market.
Oh, shit.
For all of you how this gets made listeners.
And also a big thank you to whoever,
sent us Amy the communications gorilla from Congo action figure.
It's in its packaging and it's awesome.
We'll take a picture of it.
Thank you, nameless person who didn't even put your name in there.
You were selfless.
And it's, I mean, like a real, like, is still in the package action figure is very rare.
It couldn't have been from Amy, the communication.
What's this?
It couldn't have been.
I'm just turning to figure it out.
Do you think the woman who played the gorilla sent it to us?
I mean, that would be.
That would be pretty amazing.
By the way, found out on the mini episode
The Gorilla was played by a man named Peter Elliott.
Wait, really?
Yes.
Because I did when, oh, that's weird.
Because when I looked it up, it was a woman who did it.
Yeah, maybe multiple people did it.
You know what?
Maybe a lot of people lied on our message boards.
Anyway.
You know what?
You goddamn liars.
Get off our goddamn message boards.
Stop creating weird memes.
Those memes are great.
I'm memeless pretty much on that,
but you guys do some great memes.
Guys, Halloween 3, season of the witch,
a fan favorite,
We asked people to vote on their favorite Halloween movies.
Oh, I see.
This is the one that was voted on most consistently.
Was Sleepaway Camp our last horror movie?
Our last Halloween horror movie.
Halloween horror.
Yeah, that's what I meant.
Yeah.
I thought we'd do sleep camp too, but I thought that would be maybe too easy.
This one is pretty amazing.
Halloween three, a non-Michael Myers Halloween movie.
That's a really big question I have straight away is because I kept expecting Michael Myers to show up.
Well, here's the thing.
And is there a mythology I'm not aware of?
Well, they are watching the movie within the movie.
A few times.
They, yeah, the big, the whole movie draws to on Halloween night they'll be playing Halloween
and everyone needs to stay tuned after it to watch a very special commercial from a mask factory company.
Anyway, which is.
Where they'll be doing a big giveaway.
Which is a company that apparently has like, is like a small company in a,
Northern California that has
reach all over the United States.
They are supplying masks to the entire
country. I wasn't clear on that. Whether
it was like a national thing or
whether they were just... Well, it cuts to like Dayton, Ohio.
Oh, you're right. You're right. It's weird.
You're absolutely right. It definitely is
a national company.
And they're very... They only have
three masks for sale. Anyway, we'll
get into all of this. I will answer your question
first. It is not a Mike Myers movie. Here's
the deal. John Carpenter
said he would make a sequel.
to Halloween 2, only if
it stayed true to Halloween 2,
which is Mike Myers is dead.
And so it was going to become an anthology
series. So Halloween 4
would have become another story
around Halloween. So that would
have been the linking factor.
And why is this the season
of the witch? Yeah,
I also kept expecting there to be a witch
who was like, when
we get to the factory
and it's like what is causing
like the masks to be like
murderous elements.
Yes.
I was like,
they must have a witch.
Well, here's my thought.
I think without really saying it,
the man who runs the mask factory is a warlock.
Oh.
But Season of the Warlock didn't really work?
Yeah.
Because they were like,
there isn't a song called Season of the Warlock.
I think it would be great if it was just like Warlock's evil plan.
Oh, yeah.
I love that.
Now.
I thought at one point we were going to find out that he,
because I couldn't understand why he was Irish,
although that accent came and went.
A little bit.
Why he was Irish, why the whole town was Irish.
And I thought at one point, it was going to be that he was a leprechaun gone south.
Like he had been.
Well, you're saying that you're taking that a leprechaun, I think the leprechauns that we've dealt with on this show are proven to be evil.
The only leprechauns I think that are nice are the lucky charms lepercon.
What I'm trying to get at is I thought his motivation, we've,
come to find his motivation simply to do practical jokes on kids.
And by the way, that's a big part of his factory is not just about Halloween.
Really?
Most of his work centered around novelty gifts and practical jokes.
That are real, that aren't like deadly?
That are not deadly.
Well, here are some of the things.
He goes, don't you know this guy?
He invented sticky toilet paper, the dead dwarf gag, and the soft chainsaw.
All three don't sound like giant bestsellers.
The dead dwarf gag?
There's a lot of similarities between this movie and toys.
Oh, yes.
A lot of similarities between robot people and toy makers and all this kind of weird fucked up stuff.
I felt like I was like, this is another toys.
Well, let's go back just to set up our main character.
So the movie starts off arguably with one of the worst title sequences of all time, potentially.
Like it looks like print shop, old school.
Prince shop. This is a reference for people in my 30s. This was one of my favorite
sections. Yeah, the... I loved the opening and I will say I mean, I love it because it's
ridiculous. Because it's ridiculous. But I also, I unabashedly love John Carpenter's
film scores. He does all the music for all his movies and they are, they remain like
amazing music. I was thinking... And this one was great. I was thinking that... I loved it too,
that synthetic. Just, I loved it. And the song, we'll get to the song that plays about 15
times in the movie. That actually is a, that is true, 15 times.
What's weird is that when they show the Halloween, on TV, there's a commercial for the
movie Halloween that has the exact same theme that this movie is using as its theme, which is
like the world's that, at that point, I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, you can't do that. You can't
have the same scary movie theme be both part of my movie that I'm watching and the movie within the
movie. Bro, John Carpenter can do what he wants. This is the high 80s man. By that rationale,
like, Snake Pliskin could have arrived at any point in this movie and been like, oh, by the way,
I'm here too. And Snake Pliskin could have run into the Kurt Russell character from the thing.
Yes, from the thing. Sure. And they would have not have recognized each other. Why not?
So basically, all right, this movie, the protagonist of this movie is a drunk, like, a doctor who loves to fuck.
fucks everybody in the movie. And they love him. Like, every woman is throwing herself at him like...
This is what's so weird about the movie because, yes, he's set up, I guess, as a womanizer and an alcoholic and sort of a, like a rene...
Almost like a renegade. Divorced dad. Divorced dad. Bragged.
Well, I didn't know if he was divorced from that woman because he goes, yes, yes, I'll take the kids trick-or-treating.
He's definitely divorced from her.
Wait, the woman in the house?
Yes.
Oh, I thought, okay. I thought they were together, too.
I thought that was his wife.
And then later when he's on the phone with a woman, he's like, oh, my ex-wife.
I was like, oh, that must be a different woman.
Because he came into that house.
Warmly.
He came into his ex-wife's house.
Very normally.
He didn't knock on the door.
He just walked in as if he was, and they were like, Daddy's home, daddy's home.
But then they discussed that he's getting the kids the next weekend.
Oh, for Halloween.
I didn't pay attention to their dumb words.
I will say the thing that I really did like about that when the father comes home is he,
he seems like he just came home from like a hard day.
Like, hey, I'm going to see my kids.
And all of a sudden he's like, oh, I'm on call, got to go.
Like he literally, he is not in the house for more than 35 seconds.
We're like, oh, got, yep, back to work.
See you later, guys.
He had bought the masks that the kids already had.
No, he bought the masks that the kids didn't like because they had already purchased from mom the silver shamrock.
The bad news masks.
Now, this, this doctor is amazing.
He goes, he gets called into the hospital.
There was a guy who gets killed in the beginning of the movie.
not gets killed, gets frightened.
He's in a frightened coma?
Yeah, he's in a frightened coma.
He's like John Hawks in Congo.
Yes.
Yes.
And he's holding clutching onto a Halloween mask.
Which is so weird, by the way, because the doctors had been working on him for some time.
And they must have, because it does seem he's in a coma.
They must have placed that mask in his hands almost in a prayer position.
It was so odd.
Not a single doctor or orderly took that out of his hat.
Well, the only thing that wakes him up is when he hears the Silver Shamrock commercial.
Yes.
On one of the hospital TVs, he wakes up and is like, they're going to kill us all.
And then passes out again.
And everybody's like, what I can't figure out is that happens.
And then the police come and our sexy sex addict doctor doesn't tell them that.
No.
He doesn't say anything to them.
He kind of whispers it to the corners.
He basically lies.
That's the major.
plot point in the movie that's
really flawed. Why this doctor
feels compelled to go on on this journey
to figure this out. He's not a law man.
He's not a detective, even though they then start referring to him
as a detective later. You're a pretty good detective.
I think this movie pretty much sums up with this guy
is a horny dude and he sees a semi-hot girl, the daughter
of the guy who died from, well,
spoiler alert, he gets his brain crush
in the hospital. The guy,
the guy in the
introduction who's running away from the bad guys
the bad guys catch up with him in the hospital
and they basically shove their fingers
into his eye sockets and like
melt his brain or something. Crushing his brain
and then the guy, he's in a suit.
By the way, this movie does have the thing that I love
in all horror movies. Everyone
running, running, running. And these guys
just walk with purpose and
manage to get 50 to 75 feet
ahead much quicker at all
times. The slow walk beats
people running. At one point,
the man is running, just running, away from a car.
Yes.
And gets away.
The car cannot close the gap.
It's a car.
It's a car.
All they need to do is speed up.
Just put your foot down on that gas.
That guy, a little bit more.
By the way, that guy's getting away.
Nope.
Nope, we're going to get him.
Don't you worry.
Also, when they try to chase out, well, when the murderers crushes that guy's brain,
this is my favorite part, one of my favorite parts of the movie,
he's got blood all over his black gloves
and he just kind of grabs like a hospital
like a curtain
and just like wipes off his blood
casually wipes off the blood off his hands
and then walks out like saunter's out
saunter's out and our doctor
then starts racing after him
and again this guy walking
walking with purpose not going fast at all
is able to walk out into the parking lot
into his car douse himself with gasoline
and light himself on fire
before a sexy doctor can get to him
Yeah, and sexy doctor.
By the way, there's nobody working at this hospital.
No one.
The night shift is basically him and that nurse that taps her ass.
He's like a sexual predator, this guy.
But here's what's so weird.
He is because he does those things, but there's nothing about him that actually seems like.
I don't know why these women are fucking him.
He's like, I should have married you, Doris.
He's, you know.
And he slaps her ass.
And she's like, you should be so lucky.
And she, like, this guy looks to me like he smells.
like Budweiser and cigarettes.
And cigarette butts.
Yeah.
By the way, he is not handsome.
No.
Who is he?
I've seen him in 10 million things.
Yeah, he's been in everything.
I'm trying to think of what he's been in recently.
So people have a reference point for it.
I'm going to pull it up.
But you know him.
He's like a quintessential character actor from the last two decades.
More than his looks, what I was baffled by is he has no swagger.
He doesn't seem interested in these women at all.
No, but he clearly is fucking every.
Yes, I am.
By the way, the name's in this movie.
Her name is Ellie Brimbridge?
What is it?
Grimbridge.
Another woman's name is mini, mini Blankenship.
Okay, wait.
There is also a character named, okay.
Brimbridge.
Who's, who this, our curly-haired broad gets into a conversation with the woman's in the, in the, Ellie, gets into a conversation with the woman next door to them in the motel.
And they have like an awkward exchange.
And then the woman is like, oh, by the way, my name is Marge Gutterman.
I'm at Union Square in San Francisco.
You should come look me up.
And then she is dead, almost immediately.
Like, what?
Why did you just introduce yourself by first and last name
and tell us a location that we can find you at
and then we never revisit any of this?
I feel like all the people, everyone in this movie are Exposition Robots.
They're like, I am this person, I do this,
and everyone has their game.
Here's some of the names, I'll just read them down.
Honestly, I think we met her so that when she died,
Ellie could seem upset about it.
Because when she died, she's like, March!
That's how they had some sort of a connection.
Here's some of the names.
Conal Cochran, Rafferty, Buddy Cupfer, Betty Cupfer, Little Buddy, Linda Chalice, Grimbridge,
and those are pretty much the biggest ones.
Now, this guy, we were talking about where he's been in.
Tom Atkins, he's Daniel Chalice, and he's the doctor, and you might have seen him in,
movies like Drive Angry as Cap
My Bloody Valentine as Sheriff Jim Burke
He was in striking distance
That was 93.
Sergeant Fred Hardy
You would know to me
Bob Roberts, maniac cop, lethal weapon
Oh, he's a lethal weapon
That's who he is Michael Huntsacker
He is the guy who like Danny Glover goes to
He's like my daughter
She's in porn
Michael Huntsacker
Oh, I love it
All right
The only reason I can think of
As to why he goes to solve this
is because...
He wants to fuck that girl.
No, that's not it.
I really don't think that's it.
Oh, I think that's it.
He seems surprised in the scene we just read.
He does want to solve the mystery,
but he wants to fucking plow this girl.
But why?
That's the other thing.
Because he has another line, though, where he says,
I've been at this hospital for eight years
when he's talking to the coroner,
and it seemed that that was the reason that he did...
Like he's done with hospital work?
He wants to get into detecting.
No, that he felt so connected to this hospital
that he couldn't stand.
this happened on his.
Well, he was like, he did some, he did, like, he's talking to his ex-wife on the phone at one point.
He was like, two men died here tonight.
And you can hear her to be like, yeah, yeah.
That woman.
She was a nightmare.
A real shrew.
Yeah, yeah.
Like all women.
Well, because he goes, two people died last night.
And she's like, are you going to take the kids trick-or-treating?
And he's like, I'll be there.
Let me want.
I think first what she says is something to the effective, doesn't that happen all the time there?
And he has to be like, no, it wasn't my fault.
Like he's like, it wasn't during operating or whatever.
He's like, to people there's murder and there's police around.
He is, he, his wife sounds like a nightmare.
And so no wonder, he's like, let me get the fuck out of here with this hot little number.
She apparently packs the smallest little bag and it's only full of lingerie, I believe.
Langerie and a parkup.
She just flew in from L.A.
And these two are ready to party because also when he gets, before he gets in her car to go detecting, he just has a six pack of beer.
Oh, yeah.
Just a six-pack up there.
He's an alcoholic.
He's an alcoholic, but it means nothing, ultimately.
Yeah, his alcoholism does not play a part in this.
It doesn't not make him a bad doctor, does not make him a bad detective.
And he's never trying to prove that he's not an alcoholic or that he...
He's just an alcoholic.
It's just a fun side choice that his character is made to just be an inveterate drink.
Because the time that we meet him, when he meets the girl, Grimberg, he is a, there,
He's at a bar on a Sunday morning watching cartoons, watching cartoons and drinking.
It's crazy.
It's crazy, too, because he's sitting there in the bar and she just shows up.
The girl whose dad just died.
Well, she does say, finally, she's like, the nurses told me you'd be here because you're a fucking crippling alcoholic, apparently.
And then the movie kind of skips seven days.
The movie opens up on October 23rd, and then all of a sudden, the next day is Halloween.
Don't you also, sorry, just to back check one second, don't you also feel like he was fucking the coroner?
Oh, the blonde?
He definitely was.
She kissed him and then later on in the movie he goes, I owe you a dinner.
I'll take any dinner with you.
Oh, he's totally.
This dude is gross.
If he hasn't fucked her, he definitely fingered up.
First of all, she's sifting through those ashes with no gloves on.
No.
Just her hats.
Yep.
And it takes her, I would say, probably five days to figure out that there are no human remains.
Yeah.
And she goes, I think someone might be tampering with this because it's just pieces of the car.
You know, it's like non-organic material for whatever she says.
And then, I mean, here's a big spoiler for later.
A lot of these people are robots.
I'm sorry.
A lot of these people in the movie are robots.
We'll get into that.
The majority of these people are robots.
Once they get to that one town, a solid 75% of residents are robots.
If not all, are robots.
It takes place in the same small town.
Is that true?
I didn't realize that.
So the townspeople are robots as well?
I think a lot of...
The suits.
The men are.
Because remember, they say the drunk says,
they should they have all the...
They brought in all outside labor.
You know, I think so...
Those people work at the fact.
But the town's people.
He's like a real person.
There's some real people there.
Now, but...
The...
Oh, so she's like doing the...
She's doing the investigation, the corner,
and she's like sifting.
through. And then all of a sudden the second time we see her,
it's just gizmos, like robotic gizmo. And they're in the
same kind of petri dishes. It's like, oh, yeah.
And these are odd that all of a sudden I have like four trays of just
like gyros and like little like it like it's so.
And they also make a big deal of the fact that she's the assistant
coroner. So she can't like speed along this investigation.
Oh, is that right? Oh, I miss that. When he first meets her, when he first goes to her.
But then like she is the only one.
Yeah, she never answers to anybody.
With no gloves on.
By the way, let's just for everyone to hear it.
This song, like I said, plays 15 times throughout the movie.
Every time there's a TV on, this song plays.
Oh, more than 15.
8.4 days to Halloween, Halloween, Halloween,
A four days to Halloween, Silver Shabra.
A four days to Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween,
A four days to Halloween, Silver Shabok.
So that is a song that plays start the movie.
Now, just to give you the scope of the plan.
So they're the evil guys, the silver shamrock people.
The advertising for...
The Irish.
The Irish, basically.
The, the average, the amount of advertising that this company has put in,
they have put more money than Apple in their advertisements.
It is on every commercial, nonstop.
And their big claim to fame is that they make three masks,
a pumpkin mask, a skeleton mask, and a witch mask.
And a witch mask mask.
The thing that I love about, though, is like, it's a terrible plan.
Terrible.
So, I mean, I guess we have to talk about, oh, I don't know how they're talking.
So their plan is basically they've put microchips into the masks.
They've sold masks to every child in the country.
Yes.
And at 9 o'clock on Halloween night, they're telling all the kids.
Because, by the way, these masks are being sold in smaller shops.
I guess?
No, they're being sold everywhere.
No, no, no, because all of these local buyers from wherever are buying from this factory.
So, wait, is there a...
So her father was a buyer.
Is there a big store versus small store, like small town America thing happening?
Yes, there is.
Because the guy who died, the daughter gives a speech when they're in the shop about how, like, business hasn't been going well.
Right, right.
And how, like, everybody's shopping at the mass marketed.
So you're saying that like, all right, so the plan is that these kids put on this mask and then they watch this ad and their heads explode into snakes and bugs.
So now, anyway, we'll get into that.
Just to be clear, Ball just said, when.
these kids put on the mask and then watch the commercial, their heads melt and turn into
snakes and bugs.
At 9 p.m.
on Halloween nights.
Snakes and bugs.
So now, are you saying that the kids who buy the masks from the bigger stores won't get
hurt?
I don't think so because they're not from the shamrock.
Those are the masks.
Remember when he brings the mask to his kids and his wife?
I think he's not local.
Let me guess you went to the mall or something.
Oh, right.
Yeah.
She's like, yeah.
Something like derisive to shopping at the mall.
And by the way.
So where did she?
get those masks? From Silver Shamrock. No, from, no, I think from the
Dad's store. Silver Shamrock is the supplier. I don't think they are
individual toy stores. I think she bought those masks from Ellie's
dad's store. Okay. Got it. Like the local in-town
mask store? And can we
I don't know, man? Every small town has one. And can we also just
cheese shop, the post. And the mask store. And can we all just talk to the reason
why the daughter gets suspicious
of this whole plan is because her dad
was like, oh, they'm not letting me order
my Halloween masks for next
year. Yeah. It's not even
this year's Halloween and he's like already... Wasn't that the
other guy? They're both. They both
said that. As did Marge.
Because they messed up her order too.
So basically
from Union Street.
Union Street. San Francisco.
So they basically
all are just
like these are mask store owners going
We need to order masks for next October.
We can't be left out in the cold.
You know why there are no masks for next October?
Because they're going to kill everybody.
All the children will be dead.
Although that's the theory is that it's unnecessary because like he, right, is he bringing about like some sort of apocalypse?
I guess so.
Just a child apocalypse though, because, oh, I guess maybe what he was testing with that family.
No, the snakes and bugs kill the parents.
Yeah, is that everybody would die.
But it did seem to.
Well, we got to his reasoning at the very.
very end, he said...
Do you want to hear his reasoning?
Sure.
We have this clip. This is his reasoning.
It's a little bit long, but it's worthy because of understanding it.
Here we go.
I do love a good joke, and this is the best ever.
A joke on the children.
But there's a better reason.
You don't really know much about Halloween.
You thought no further than the strange custom of having your children wear masks and go out
begging for candy.
No Irish accent here.
He's still talking about a Joe, right?
The last great one took place three thousand years ago when the hills ran red.
With the blood of animals and children.
Sacrifices.
Part of our world.
Our craft.
Witchcraft.
To us, it was a way of controlling our environment.
It's not so different now.
It's time again.
So do you think he's a way of controlling our environment?
So do you think him getting into the novelty business was all leading up to this?
Is this guy immortal?
Well, he says he's a warlock there.
He's, I guess he's immortal.
Oh, well, he's immortal.
And he spent a lot of time building up a very big novelty business with the dead dwarf gag,
the sticky toilet paper and the soft chain saw.
Just for this?
Just for this big plan in 1982.
Now, here's the other big problem with this movie.
and I know many people have pointed this out
but an elaborate part of this plan
is that they had to take a giant
piece of Stonehenge.
This I couldn't understand at all.
They have a giant piece of stonehenge
and when asked he says something
to the effect of
oh we had a...
I'm going to find out exactly how he said it
because it's really worth reading it.
He just grabbed a giant
piece of Stonehenge and brought it here
and when asked how did he do it?
He basically just says
oh well that was a crazy story
I'll tell you that much
But is that stone
Are we to understand that stone is powering
These chips and masks
And causing this?
Yes because those scientists are chipping off
Pieces of the
Stonehenge rock putting it
Into the microchips
Now why are they still doing that?
And my question also is
Why does the microchip
When tampered with shoot a laser?
Yes that's another
Right, remember when Marge Gutterman is...
By the way, Marge Gutterman's sleep attire is...
Whoa!
I wrote, what is Marge wearing to bed?
And I want it, like, immediately.
You need that.
It is some sort of sparkly situation.
Cap-tapped, like, it was, and there were pants to it.
There were layers.
There was levels to it.
Well, there's...
I was very turned on by it.
I came a bunch.
Especially when she took the laser to the face, like a real...
She was so buttoned up.
She got laser bucocchi.
For the first time we saw her.
Yes.
And very like, you know, wholesome, corn-fed, you know, mom.
Say it again, but slower, Judge.
And then she goes to bed in this insane outfit.
Like something that you would see on Little House on the Prairie because they didn't have sheets or something.
Except with sparkles.
Like metallic material.
There was a lot of weird behavior.
There was that.
And then there was Ellie Blumcock or whatever her name is.
When she gets out of the shower, there's a scene where she gets out of the shower.
Yep, I'm very familiar with it.
Oh, yeah.
I rewind it because I'm like, I'm not seeing boobs, but I'm pretty sure I can see her bush.
Well, okay, I thought so too.
I don't think that was the case.
I think you just see a shadow.
Okay.
Sorry, Jason.
I don't, I'm being followed by a bush shadow.
She gets out of the shower, has a tiny towel, sort of covers herself, and then makes a beeline.
for the bed.
I don't know, man.
It was just a weird behavior.
What's even weirder is, what's even weirder is,
Dr. Sexy comes back, and you are like,
oh, he's going to find, maybe, because in my mind,
I was like, oh, maybe she's, like, wants to be naked for when it comes back.
But no, she's put on lingerie.
Yeah.
But it's in the exact same position where we left her.
Yes.
Just with lingerie.
And as they're having, like, a real hardcore effing scene,
Marge Gutterman,
realizes that one of the tags fell off on the mask,
and she's like, well, let me start figuring out.
engineering here.
By the way, isn't that her complaint
about a lot of the masks? Yeah, the
tag is falling off.
So she looks at the microchip
on the back of that thing and just
willy-nilly just is like, well, let me just
rub a metallic object across. Let me start poking
at this. At which point
a laser
zaps her in the face.
Boom. At which point
bugs crawl out of her mouth.
What?
Wait, it cuts open her face.
The laser creates
bugs? That was my question, too. Is the laser
a bug bum? Like, what the fuck is happening?
Not only does it burn your face.
Now, I want to ask. So it's like evil creatures from Stonehenger
inside the lake. I did want to ask because I felt like June, you knew a lot more about
lasers than us in the Congo episode.
Yes. I just didn't know if you had any experience with lasers producing bugs.
I think these lasers were stone lasers and I think they had like elements.
Exactly. And I think they had like the earth's elements in them.
And so that's why this, you know, the bugs and snakes were.
I'm very interested in the connection
between these last three movies now.
Lasers, toys, robots.
We have a lot of connections. And people being
frightened to death. Yes?
Yep. Well, now, look, so here's my favorite part.
She gets Marge Gutterin's face ripped off
and then they all run out to see
what happened to her. And then the evil
toy manufacturer says, oh,
don't worry. We're taking
her to the toy factory hospital.
We have one of the best intensive care units.
That's the most suspicious
thing ever. It's a fucking
factory. It's not like... They make
toys. They make toys. They
goddamn make toys. And it doesn't look like
anything more than a straight-up
factory. It looks like
an assembly line factory
and they're like, we'll take her to the toy factory.
Nothing suspicious of there.
Super suspicious. Oh yeah.
Oh, yeah. They do have their own
ambulance and they do take her away
and instruct. I thought the ambulance, though, was
like, that's the hospital ambulance. Like,
divert it from the hospital, send it up to the toy factory.
What's weird is that the first act of the movie is
like in this town where he lives with his family and he's a doctor and blah, blah, blah.
And then he and this fucking curly-haired belly get in the car and drive to a whole other location where the rest of the movie takes place.
Yes.
Almost as if I started to feel like, I feel like I'm watching somebody poorly play a video game.
Where you're controlling the doctor and all you do is run around, get into cars, get out of cars, get chased, you chase.
But you don't know the mission you're on.
You can't, I couldn't figure.
It's like someone doing Grand Theft Auto sandbox.
It's just running around.
There's no mission.
And he has no emotional connection to figuring this out.
Well, no, but he should because his kids own those fucking masks.
And he never calls his wife.
He does.
He does call his wife.
He does call his wife.
He does call his wife from the fact.
And again, she's like, you did tell us the most mass I buy.
Yeah, you're just jealous.
Yeah.
He's like, I'm fucking this broad now.
Leave me alone.
I'm drinking.
He's always drinking.
And by the way, even if you're a fucking drunk,
don't share your bottle with like a homeless guy on the street.
Even if the guy says, which he does,
I'm not sick of nothing, but can I get a drink of that?
Hey, guess what?
Do not share drinks with guy weird gross.
Here's the other thing, too.
They go undercover in the factory as Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Oh, my God.
Unbelievable.
And they're going for a tour of the factory with this weird colonel.
And they immediately blow their cover when, just for some reason out in the open,
Ellie's dad's car is just out there.
This is a dead man's car.
Guarded by weirdos, the robots in suits.
Yes, again, the other thing is the whole factory is guarded by weird Irish people in suits.
They kind of look like Mikhail Bershtikov in bad suits.
Or to me, they were like the precursors to like the agents and the Matrix.
Yes.
I was saying they're like adjustment of port row.
Adjustment Bureau people with less personality.
Oh, we didn't talk about the,
they kill that homeless guy in the field by just ripping his head off of his body.
This is a big problem I have with the movie, too.
I didn't totally, I did not understand why certain people were getting killed.
For talking.
Other people weren't.
For talking, I think.
Yeah.
So he was, this guy was, like, creating monopoly in town and didn't want anybody.
Like, he had, was he the mayor?
Who is setting the curfew?
Oh yeah, there is a curfew in town.
Cochran is like...
The toy manufacturer has that much say in the town.
Oh, I think he just owns this town and is like...
And do you think he brought in other Irish people and businesses
because he felt they would be friendly to him and not ask the hard questions?
I think I would equate it to he is like Ben Gazara in Roadhouse.
Everybody, he's a powerful, dangerous.
dangerous man that everybody is afraid of.
And so much so that the
drunk is like,
I'm not afraid to say anything.
Fuck you,
carcran.
And then cut you next scene,
he's Deadsville.
But now,
why rip his head off?
Because it's only hours away
from the plan happening anyway.
Oh, yeah.
And everyone's going to die.
See,
this is what I don't understand.
He also kills his best salesperson.
Well, that makes no sense.
I couldn't figure out
Why did they need Ellie's father's car?
Was that explained?
Did it explain what he discovered?
Well, that was the thing.
Ellie's father clearly was investigating something in the middle of the night at the factory,
which caused him to run away or they captured him.
Again, the only reason why he was at the factory is because he tried to put an order in for next year.
Now, let me tell you, I'm not an evil mastermind,
but if my plan was to kill all the children of this Halloween and someone said,
hey, we want to order masks next year.
I wouldn't give the realistic response.
I'm like, great, what's your order?
Knowing I'll never have to fill it
because all the children will be dead.
What was the issue?
Like, why was he so committed to telling the truth?
Like, no, we're not doing that.
We're not taking orders.
What's really weird about this movie,
and I feel like a lot of movies of this genre,
of this era, like the,
whether it's Friday the 13th
or Nightmare in Elm Street,
The victims are teenagers and adults.
The true victims of this crime in this movie are like seven-year-olds.
The scene in which they put the kid in a pumpkin mask with his parents in the room,
and then they're like, watch this, watch this happen.
And then they play the commercial that's going to activate the mask.
And the little boy's head melts and turns into bugs and spiders.
And giant snakes.
Giant snakes come pouring out of the kids.
kid's mask, craziness.
That was really, really dark.
And she was an annoying kid.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Fuck that kid.
But still, it was upsetting.
But he did not deserve to die by having a face melt into bugs.
He, but then, oh my gosh, some of the funny stuff in that scene, though, too, was the doctor
is watching them as they're in this, like, private test room and does one of the best reactions
of all time.
If you haven't seen it, I'll try my best to describe it.
But it's a silent rage where both.
fists come up and he looks down and just shakes his head like,
yeah.
But not a yell.
Almost like he's like, I will avenge this.
So upset.
And why would he kill his best salesman?
These guys done nothing but get those masks.
And by the way, again, the fact guy.
The fact guy is just a believer in their product.
I love that guy.
He's a big fan of their novelty toys.
And by the way, isn't it odd that after curfew that the toy maker's like,
come over to my factory.
I want to show you some commercials
in a fake living room set
because you need to watch it
in a fake living room.
And his wife,
Buddy's wife, was a little bit weird.
Why did she start laughing maniacically?
Yeah, she's like,
I was like, is this part of the thing?
Yeah.
That it causes people who are watching it
to become euphoric or something.
But then I was like,
oh, I think she's just a fucking weirdo.
I think she was a weirdo.
I mean, it seemed her character
wanted her husband to make more money.
After they find Ellie's dad's car,
We don't know why it was there.
We don't know why they didn't dispose of it.
I don't even know why they didn't cover it.
Yep.
Cover it.
It was a little cover.
It was a half cover.
It was like a bikini with the bum a little off.
It's like the copper tone girl.
Now the thought too was a...
Who would have been very negatively affected by these Halloween masks because she is the right age.
And but if you put it on her, that witch masks, she could have been sexy.
Wasn't the copper tone girl Jody Foster?
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Now here's my other question.
They're going undercover.
yet they killed this
this is the daughter of the man
you would think that this guy who owns everything
would probably go oh that's probably the daughter
of the guy like he would connect
it or you think the guy would be like
who are these people
they are not people I'm giving toys to
they are not they are not they're not like
I've never sold to them but that fat guy and his family
makes sense why they're there yeah these two
just appear to like want a tour or something
you know what I mean? They don't
so anyway they see the car
she runs at it and she's like
She goes, Papa's car.
Yeah.
I hate when in movies people call their fathers like Papa.
Disgusting.
Disgusting.
You're a grown-ass woman.
Papa's car.
Don't call anybody Papa.
Bluff.
Barf.
I was like, ew, barf.
You're gross.
Disgusting lady.
So she goes, Papa's car.
And then, like, all the weird Irish men in suit just kind of stare at her.
And then it's a weird moment.
And then, like, Cochran's like, secret ingredient.
Ha, ha, ha.
I don't know what was going on there.
And then the next scene...
I think what he was saying is like
she was about to go find the secret ingredient.
And that's why...
Oh, that's why.
Okay.
Now, I will say the next...
The very next scene...
They know nothing of the major plan at this point.
Nothing.
The two lead characters...
We don't, as even in the audience, know the major plan.
And the next scene, the guy goes,
we got to call the Marines.
Oh, yeah.
Why?
Like, Dr. Sexy?
Yeah, Dr. Sexy.
Like, all we know is that one of these men in suits,
killed a man in the hospital.
We don't have to call on the Marines for that.
Like there's no other...
Why are the Marines the option?
What they should have to call the Marines.
You know what?
We should call the authorities.
We should talk to the police.
No, call the Marines.
Maybe there's a sheriff.
Maybe we should...
There is so many levels in the hierarchy of law enforcement
before you're like,
beepoo, beepoo, beep.
Hello operator?
Connect me with the Marines.
Also, like, if there's anyone whose jurisdiction this is,
doesn't fall under?
It's probably the Murrays.
Now, they plan to eradicate this guy.
Instead of just killing him outright, they're going to put a mask on him and play him
the commercial too because they've captured him at this point.
And oh, and by the way, the daughter has been kidnapped as well.
Ellie.
So he escapes his binds because who the fuck knows?
He gets out of his binds before the commercial affects him.
Surgeon's hands.
And then manages to foil the entire.
entire plan
incredibly easy.
Oh, yeah.
He sneaks into a room.
Here's what's so weird about what he does, though,
what he ultimately does.
So he finds Ellie,
he grabs her, the two of them get to like the main hub.
And first of all,
one of my favorite moments was when they were,
they needed to get from one spot to the other,
and they just hid behind a card of masks
and the card of masks moved across the room.
That was amazing.
But what he ends up doing is taking a bunch of those buttons.
that killed Marge
and going up top to this sort of like...
Oh, wait.
Yes, okay.
I want to see,
I won't even sit up,
but go ahead.
I'll say it finished.
Well,
but this is what I didn't understand.
So he ends up killing all of these robots.
Yes.
By taking those buttons.
That they've made.
Yes, one box,
one cardboard box of those buttons
and throwing them over the railing
and the buttons somehow hit the railing.
Well,
They don't shoot lasers.
They start shooting lasers.
Well, that's happened to March Gutterman.
No, no, no.
That's not what happened to March Gutterman.
Here's the thing.
Two seconds before this, and this is very important, he goes up to a computer with no writing on it whatsoever, just blank buttons,
hits about four of them, and it activates the commercial.
And then he runs upstairs, so the commercial's playing, and then he dumps the buttons
and the commercials activating the buttons, and the buttons are shooting out the last.
laser. But those buttons...
Oh, I see what you're saying.
But I still have an issue with... They're being activated by the commercial.
Yes, I still have an issue of how he activated that commercial where he just ran up to a
faceless computer and just like typed in like he just literally like the Star Wars computers.
He just like hit like four buttons and all of a sudden all the commercials started playing.
Shut down all the trash compactures in level D.
Shut down all the trash compactors.
Now all of a sudden, now the, then the bad guy does the best thing ever, the golf
clap of like,
um,
bravo,
you,
you have done it
and you've done me in.
And then lasers
come at him
and he
disappears.
So is he not human?
Is he not corporeal?
Because everyone else
has snakes
come out of him.
But he's like
some sort of warlock.
I guess we're meant to believe,
right?
He's some sort of like
Irish leprechaun warlock
magic type figure,
some sort of like
trickster character.
I don't know
what his deal is, but he's a piece of garbage who, when he gets zapped, he probably is okay.
Right. Well, do we know if he reoccur? He does not reoccur. Okay. So they escape,
they escape the, the, the factory. It's on fire. Now, this is where the movie gets,
in my opinion, amazing, because it gets darker. So he's driving with the girl, and he's
putting on the radio, because why not, why not listen to some tunes? They just, they save the day.
Okay, yeah, bro. But by the way, they didn't save them.
the day because he's still got to stop people from
watching that commercial. Oh yeah, so he's pretty casual
to be changing the radio stations
finding the perfect jam. There's another
part of the movie. He's going to stop his own children
from watching that commercial. There's another part of the movie
earlier where
they get to the town or something and
she's like, well, should we go investigate or whatever? And he goes,
eh, it can wait till tomorrow.
Like, I'm almost
100% sure. This cannot wait
till tomorrow. He left his post as a successful
doctor in town to be an
investigator. I would be willing to
dozens of his patients die because of his absence.
And by the way, yeah, he leaves a hospital where, for all intents and purposes, he is the only doctor.
Yes.
The biggest death toll, I'm sure, was at that hospital.
Oh, without a doubt.
So now he's driving and all of a sudden, Ellie attacks him, starts attacking him.
We put it together very quickly that she's been killed turned into a robot, very quickly turned into a robot.
Is that what happens to people?
See, we've never actually seen that before.
No, they just, they were able to do.
No, no, I don't think, oh, oh.
He does explain, he does explain that he makes robots.
Right, but.
Was she created or was she?
That's my question.
Were her organs swapped out for gears?
Men we saw?
Were they, like, at one time people?
I think they were because, or, no, because he said that was, like, when he, when the lead
character touches that old woman when he breaks into the factory in her head falls off.
The knitter.
Like, he goes, something's a very.
expensive piece of plastic.
It's a very old model from Germany.
Yeah.
So she was once a townsperson?
No, she's like, I think, a German person or something.
We, yeah.
But is what he's doing taking real people and making maps out of them?
You're saying, is he taking human bodies and making them into robots or is he making
puppets that look like humans?
Yes, that's my question.
I don't know.
I fucking wish I did.
And they don't even want to do.
Describe, they don't, yeah.
I mean, if only Joan Cusack had shown up in this movie as her robot character from Toys, I would know what was up.
Here's the thing.
He could be doing the latter because her robot is very lifelike.
I mean, it looks exactly like she.
And why, and why did that robot help foil the plan?
Ultimately, that robot helped foil the evil plan.
So if he made this robot, that's a flaw in the machine, literally.
And when did he get time?
The girl had only been kidnapped for a mirror.
two hours? I'm going to give him more time than I think.
Two hours that girl's been kidnapped. He was able to turn her into a robot and put on clothes.
It seemed, because they kept on, they kept on cutting to her and she was on that slab of cement with all these, like, devices on her.
It seemed like they were turning her body into a robot somehow.
Okay. That would be, I think that would be harder.
I think it would be harder.
I do, too. Maybe it's this. Maybe there is a generic, this is how I would do it.
Okay. If I was in their position.
We have the materials to make robots, okay?
Right, because we're a toy factor.
Exactly.
So what you should do is you should choose like three models, like an adult man, an adult woman, and like a something else, right?
And then when you get people like an Ellie, you just take her skin off and put it onto the dummy, onto the dummy.
And hope it fits.
And like you secure it like with staples or something in the back.
All right, Jason.
That's how I would run it.
That's pretty crude.
Because individual custom robot making would be incredibly time-consuming and expensive.
All right, Jason, I'm going to give you a different way of how I would run it.
If I was this evil mastermind.
You know what we need to do?
Evil mastermind shark tank.
I would do this.
I would talk to the people who do that bodies exhibit that tours around the country where they take human bodies.
So that is.
Homeless Chinese people are what they are.
And prisoners.
And they make their bodies full of plastic.
Yeah, that's basically the whole thing.
Yeah, it's really bad news.
It's pretty intense.
Yeah, it's really bad news.
I just paid money to see that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you contributed to the murder of.
I actually paid money because I took you on a date there.
We had a great time.
It was a great date we had together, didn't we had a great date?
Did that like, was that like a very, yeah, I was going to say a very seminal experience.
Yeah, it was pretty amazing.
I put my engagement ring to her in one of their hands.
So.
On one of their fingers?
Yeah.
We're like, let's take this ring.
Take it.
So I would do it like that
I would plasticize them
And then
They're full of fucking gears and shit
This is what you do
That's what's weird
But I think you could just go into
Once you put the plastic
Like once you put the plastic fluid in there
You could just drop in a couple gears
No what you do is you take the body
You put similar to what they did
You put it on that slab of cement
And then you create a device that sucks out
All of the organs to just leave
Like a layer of skin
That you can press down like a pancake
What about bones?
You take them all out
The bones are gone
This suction, this vacuum is like nothing that's...
Oh, you can't.
Damon Dash, what do you say?
Damon Dash is out.
Damon is out.
Lori is still in.
Cuban is still in.
Mr. Wonderful.
And...
Wait a second.
So first, in your scenario, you need to invent a machine that...
Yes, that's patented.
That sucks out organs and pulverizes and sucks out bones.
So you're just left with what?
Your skin, just someone's skin and face.
Right.
That just sounds a lot like what I did.
Okay.
You take that skin and you put it on a robot body.
No.
Then you create the robot.
It's not about having those robot bodies because they're not going to fit every person.
Every person's different.
So you're going to custom build?
No, you just take that and you put in your organs or your wiring, which is the same for every robot.
And then you fill out the rest of it with stuffing.
But by the way, the rest of it was stuffing.
By the way, those robots were filled with goo.
With stuffing?
What do you mean?
June is not.
Pull off.
Like, well, look, those robots were definitely, there's something weird there because
basically our lead character, the doctor, just punches one in the belly.
And his hand goes right through.
And then just green goo is just bubbling out.
So clearly part of their plan was just fill them up with green goo.
Oh, yes.
Talk to the Nickelodeon people, get them to say, I don't know.
Fill them up with green goo and then let him go.
Oh, my God.
All right.
So the end of the movie, he fights.
She loses her head.
he has a fight with an arm, very evil dead.
But it all comes back to my favorite character in the movie.
We didn't talk about him at the top.
The gas station attendant.
Amazing.
Who found Ellie's dad in the beginning.
And oddly enough, they let him get really into the hospital.
And he's like, oh, sir, I'm always told that you're supposed to help people.
And I'm supposed to help people unless there's trouble.
And I don't, is there trouble?
I want to, like, this guy has definitely seen some shit, been through some shit, does not want to be blamed.
He's a charge he has because he lives in a stone's throw from that factory.
Oh, but wait, if he's a stone throw from that factory.
Why did the guy get brought to the hospital?
They must be close.
They're very close, yeah.
He's in walking distance because both guys ran to him.
But yet they seem like they were going on an adventure to go up to this other town.
Maybe it's not.
Maybe it's only a couple towns away.
But, I mean, the geography is really weird.
So anyway, they run back to that gas station attendant.
This maniac doctor basically calls up on the phone goes,
take it off, take it all off on every day.
I don't know who is he calling the mayor of television.
And go, hey, take him off.
It's killing children.
It's killing children.
I'm guessing he's called the Marines.
My only guess is that he is currently on the phone with the Marines.
And the Marine, and something you think, oh, this is never going to work.
And it does.
The commercial starts to air, and it's like, we interrupt this program.
And then he changes the channel.
Then the kid, there's a kid in front of him wearing a mask, watching the TV,
changes to another channel.
The song starts like, we interrupt this commercial.
And then finally he changes to the final channel.
And I guess that TV station didn't get the word.
The Marines didn't get to that TV station in time.
And the commercial plays.
And I guess the idea is many children are going to.
die. Yeah, bug snakeheads. And by
the way, people have brought this up
as a very good point. Why not yell at the kid
who's four feet in front of you? Take off
the mask. Or just grab the mask.
No, he's just...
So this movie ends darkly.
The plan worked.
Some work just not as big as
they wanted it to. And by the way, are we talking
about, I don't want to get into specifics
of television, but I'm going to have to say,
I imagine that these are local
commercials, not national commercials
and local... But I mean, like, they're in
Northern California, as the title cards say.
And then they cut to Dayton, Ohio.
They're like, I mean, it's like all over the place.
Film critic, like Jim Harper, called Wallace's plot deeply flawed.
He says, any plot dependent on stealing a chunk of Stonehenge, shipping it across the Atlantic is going to be shaky.
But there are four time zones across the United States.
So has the, how can, how it would be staggered?
So New York, the commercial would have already aired by the time it got to Northern California.
So, basically, he saved everyone in California, but everybody else is fucked.
Yes.
Now, this is my favorite review of this movie, Vincent Camby from the New York Times.
I thought it was worth reading.
He goes, Vincent Camby struggled to aptly define this film.
He says, Halloween 3 manages the not easy feat of being anti-children, anti-capitalism, anti-television, anti-television,
and anti-Irish all at the same time.
I mean, that is true.
This movie is amazing.
It cost $2.5 million to make, and its opening weekend, it made $6.3.
It grows $14.4 million.
That's not bad.
A huge hit, but did nothing in comparatively to the movies that came out that year,
like Poultergeist, which made 76, Friday the 13th, Part 3,
which made 34, and Creepshow, which made 21.
Huh.
Now, obviously we had an opinion about this movie, but there are other people who have other opinions.
Now it is time for a second opinion.
Second opinion.
Four.
Just a word out there to anyone who is inclined.
You can make your own second opinion theme, and we will drop it in if it beats that one.
It probably will.
All right.
And if you want my Acapella, it's on that.
Maybe I'll join in.
We should give them a little track.
All right.
So you give them a little something.
Oh, what was it?
Do we want it to be as close to that or does it matter?
Anything.
Oh, these are second opinions.
From top to bottom, crazy movies are fun.
June, you want to give one?
Second opinion, second opinions.
They're not your first, but they're going to be a second.
From the depths of Amazon they come.
Second opinions for everyone.
Okay, you can say.
Second opinions.
All right, here we go.
Second opinions.
Micah.
We got to get the guy who sang the...
Oh, yeah, the Crash Chest Dumbies guy.
We got that guy to sing the song.
Second opinions.
That voice was so deep.
Oh, man, we should get the guy.
Once there was this boy who got into an accident.
Oh, my God.
Terrible song.
Can we just get Eli Braden, the guy who does all the Howard Stern-Robbins songs?
Oh, yeah.
Or let's get all of them.
Yeah, come on, guys.
Let's get Laiden to do it.
Let's get Mikey to do it.
Let's get that opera guy to do it.
Oh, my God.
The opera guy.
All right, the one thing I learned from Second Opinions this week is that a lot of people don't know how to spell Michael.
Mike Myers has brought up in pretty much everyone.
But Micah writes, on the profanity meter, I give it one strike.
A few words, but this film is another reason.
I love this movie so much.
Very little profanity involved.
You can sit back and actually enjoy it without having to cringe every time someone opens their mouth.
I even find the most scary and gory films are so much more enjoyable when little profanity is used.
Five stars.
Yeah, that sounds fucking great.
Of course, it's five stars.
This is another great one from Go Birds.
Director Tommy Lee Wallace effectively used the Altair Theory when he crafted this concise and disturbing view of Halloween and its ramifications on American
society and mores.
His producer, John Carpenter, allowed Wallace to effectively spin his tale of fate of
adolescents when they shrug the responsibilities of family life.
Parents should be warned, this is not suitable for young children under any circumstances.
Five stars.
By the way, that's not what it's about.
It's not about adolescents shrugging their responsibilities.
They're kids.
They're going out trick-or-treating.
Although that first scene with the kids, they are really annoying when they're in the house
and the mom wants to get them to eat
and they do run to the TV
like little zombies.
Kids love TV.
Yeah, they do.
Speaking of which, you're fucking idiots.
You have the dumb kids.
Look away from the stupid TV, you dumb little fucking kids.
They love it. They love it.
We have a kids review here.
Talk about a mass murderer.
That guy publicizes this product enough to get it
to Abercrombie level.
That's what he wrote five stars.
It is really weird though that kids would be
racing to tune into a commercial
at 9 p.m. on Hollywood.
It's prime trick-or-treating time.
Guys, this movie is fucking stupid.
I have...
I mean, the plot is insane.
Two more reviews.
I have a few of them because they're so good.
K.M. Morris writes, this movie has it all.
This movie has all the essential key components for a great horror movie.
Mood, plot, atmosphere.
Five stars.
Oh, my God.
That's it?
That's it.
M.
POT, atmosphere?
Yes.
M.
P. A.
What does atmosphere mean?
I guess it's spooky atmosphere.
Oh, man.
You know what?
I totally loved that movie.
It was like full of mood and plop.
But you know what?
There wasn't enough atmosphere for me.
It's not a good, hard movie.
I give it like a B-minus for lack of atmosphere.
And finally, Pumpkinhead, this guy was pretty great.
He goes, I think this film gives you an, oh, sorry.
I have to sometimes navigate bad grammar.
So this movie really makes you think, I bet you this could really happen.
I give it five stars for the cinematography.
and I like the scene after the boy's face explodes with snakes
and Tom is just watching it.
Five stars.
Everybody's an asshole.
Hey, pumpkin head, you're an asshole.
Just so you guys know, Jamie Lee Curtis did uncredited voice work in this movie.
Really?
She was the voice of the people saying, go home.
It's the curfew voice.
Oh, interesting.
And telephone operator.
So that's tied together, Halloween.
I just want to take this moment to apologize.
just a pumpkin head.
I didn't mean it.
I didn't mean what I said.
He deserves it.
You're great.
Would you guys recommend this movie?
Nope.
Yes.
I think you should watch it.
I definitely think you should watch it.
Here's the thing.
Here's what I will say.
Sure, fine.
Watch it.
But if you are looking for like a scary movie to watch and you haven't seen sleepaway
camp?
Oh yeah.
See that.
Yeah, that's a different.
You know what I mean?
This is definitely like.
This was a bit of a letdown.
I mean, this is, it's bonkers.
As you can tell, it is bonkers.
And it's weird.
I think you would enjoy it.
It's more weird.
Like, I guess I kept
It's more weird than scary.
It's not scary.
It's not scary.
It's not a lot of spooks.
For a long time, I thought Michael Myers was going to be in the movie.
So I was genuinely confused when like 45 minutes in, he had not appeared.
No, he only appears in scenes from Halloween.
So maybe if I knew that, I would have been less, maybe I would have been more into the movie.
Yeah.
I kept trying to figure it out like, well, is that guy going to turn into Mike Myers?
Well, I think one of the main plot points that connects him is that it's about masks.
I'm talking about Austin Powers is Mike Myers.
Oh, no, no, no, no, we knew that.
O'B. Hayes, Stonehen.
I knew the villain Michael Myers was not in this movie,
but I assumed Mike Myers.
From Love Guru.
So I married, an axe murderer.
Yes, Saturday Night Live.
All those great things.
Let's get into it, guys.
What do we got to plug?
June, you want to plug anything?
Ask Backwards is out in theaters November 8th in select theaters,
and you can follow at Aspacwards.
Move, MOV, to find out if it's going to be near you.
And you can still get it on the...
Still get it on iTunes.
Great.
Jason, what do you got?
No, I don't need to plug anything.
All right.
I do want to say thank you to whoever the guy is who drew that awesome poster of us.
This isn't a plug or anything.
But some guy drew an awesome poster of us, like Dr. Strange Love, like flying on a bomb and posted it online.
And it looks fucking awesome.
Maybe we will get that up on our Facebook page right away.
And so that is it.
