As you remember from our last episode, I was at the doctors due to some symptoms

Being sick is never fun. but it gives us a good opportunity to learn some more Spanish especially related to the home and taking care of oneself firstly to say I'm resting in Spanish you would say I'm resting in Spanish you would say I'm descansando
Starting point is 00:01:14 next if you want to tell someone you need to sleep you'd say Necessito Dormir Necessito Dormir Remember Necessito means
Starting point is 00:01:41 I need And dormir means To sleep To drink water As the doctor advised Is Beber Agua Beber Agua
Starting point is 00:01:58 So If I want to say I need to drink A lot of water I'd say Necessito Bever Much water. Necessito. Beber. Much. Much. Agua.
Starting point is 00:02:17 Bever is spelt with two Bs. Not that it sounds like it though, and that's because the B, sound produced in Spanish, is very soft and actually closer to how we English speakers pronounce the letter V. If someone asks how I'm feeling today, and I want to say I'm feeling a bit better, I would say,
Starting point is 00:02:43 Me Siento a Poco meh Siento Un Poco Mejor Just like we learned last time, me Siento means
Starting point is 00:03:02 I feel. In the midst of this, if you ever wanted to say you are taking medication, you'd say I'm taking medication. This iso Tomando Medicacion
Starting point is 00:03:22 This is very useful when you want to tell someone why you're resting or can't do certain activities Oh look, that must be rim service I just ordered some soup over the phone Hello! Soup in Spanish is Sopa And yes, it's as delicious in any language.
Starting point is 00:03:49 If someone's asks how are you today in Spanish they'd say Como estas oi comeo estes oi a possible response especially if you're feeling better is estuioio which means i am improving to mention that you've been resting a lot you would say
Starting point is 00:04:30 say, I've been a lot of much E I've stado descansando
Starting point is 00:04:44 much If you're spending a lot of time in bed like me the word for bed in Spanish is Kama So to say
Starting point is 00:04:56 I am in bed you'd say I'm in the Kama I'm in la camera. During sickness, we often read books or watch movies. Book in Spanish is El Libro.
Starting point is 00:05:25 El Libro. Movie in Spanish is La Pelicula. La Pelicula. If you want to say you're reading a book, it's If I'm going to a book. I'm reading a book. If you're watching a movie, you'd say,
Starting point is 00:06:04 I'm seeing a movie. I'm doing a movie. A video. And yes, sometimes a good movie or book is all you need to feel better. Now, let's think of another home comfort. Ah yes, warm blankets. In Spanish, a blanket is One manta.
Starting point is 00:06:41 If you want to say, I have a warm blanket, it would be, Tengo Unamanta Caliente. Tengo Una Manta Caliente.
Starting point is 00:07:03 That must be my are checking in on me. Let's answer and use some of our newly learned phrases. Hello! Yes, I'm in the camera. I'm mejorando. That means, hello, yes, I'm in bed. I'm improving. Now, let's do a quick test of what we've just learned.
Starting point is 00:07:32 To say I'm resting would be, I'm I'm I'm Descanzano To say I need to sleep would be
Starting point is 00:07:51 Necessito Dormir Necessito Dormir To say I need to drink a lot of water would be Necessito
Starting point is 00:08:15 Bever much water Necessito Bebe Beber Much Agua I'm feeling a bit better
