Episode No. 16.
Al Partio de Football
Welcome back to Maru's Spanish.
As you recall, in our last episode,
I found the wallet of a man called Signor Juan Gomez.
I managed to find his address on a business card inside of his wallet.
I'm on my way to give it back,
walking through the Gothic quarter of Barcelona, my favorite place.
Ah, look, here it is.
Numero Catoose.
14.
Wow.
He has a big Barcelona
football club banner
hanging from his door.
What a legend.
Hello,
Acaba de
his bigger
in the supermarket.
I've been
to devolversila.
He was very happy
to see his wallet again.
I'm not surprised.
He's just offered me
some money,
but I'm going to decline.
Let me kindly tell him
I can't accept.
Um,
Mr. Juan Gomez,
thanks for offering.
But no
I can accept the
money.
Oh my.
Juan has just
offered me
a ticket to
tonight's
Barcelona game at home.
He insists
on giving me a ticket.
I mean, if he
insists, I have always
loved watching this magnificent
team.
Sir John Gomez,
much more thanks for the
bullet.
I hope that I have
a good time.
I just said many thanks for the ticket.
I hope you have a good afternoon.
I'm thrilled by this unexpected turn of events.
The game starts at 4 p.m. and it's already three.
According to my phone, it takes half an hour to arrive by car.
That's media hour.
Thank goodness it isn't rush hour.
I don't want to miss a minute of the action.
Hello, taxi, por favor.
Buenos d'ardes.

In Spanish, before saying a sport that you would play, you'd say Al.
So, to say I play football or soccer, you'd say

There are other sports that in English
rather than saying you play them
you simply say
I
followed by the activity
like
An example would be I cycle or I box.
Well, in Spanish, you would say that you practice these sports.
So, to say I cycle, you would say,
practico el cyclismo.
Practico el cyclismo.
To say I box, or I practice boxing, as you would say in Spanish,
would be practico el boxeo.
Practico el boxeo.
I do gymnastics would be practico gymnasia.
Practico gymnasia.
Alternatively, you can say that you do these activities.
I go the cyclismo.
I go the boxo.
I go gymnasia.
Ah, I have made it to the stadium just in time.
