Hello, all my audience of Emersive Spanish.
Thanks for accompany me.
Right now, I'm in La Plaza of Spain
with my
my friend
Jorge
Iglesias
Hello
Jorge
I'm very
content to
be here
I'm very happy
to be here
La
Plaza
of Spain
is simply
beautiful
beautiful
here's a tip
simply
is a nice
adverb
to remember
take the word simple exactly as spelled in English and simply add Mente
Simplemente this might be the most beautiful square I've personally ever seen
although rather than a square which is what plaza actually means
the place de espagna resembles more of a big open half circle
In the middle of it all is a fountain surrounded by canals, which are very picturesque.
Jorge, this plaza is hermosa, vera.
This square is beautiful, right?
I just love how the sun is bathing the whole plaza in warm, vibrant colors.
It's very aesthetic and hard not to be put in a good mood here.
As Jorge and I take a slow walk around the fountain and soak in all of the sites,
let's go over some things you'll find most handy in a touristic attraction like this.
Is there an ATM here?
There is a cajero automatico
Aki, this is an important question as not everywhere except card.
I've heard that to ride a boat along the canal here is as cheap as seven euros, but they only take cash.
Therefore, the next question you should learn is,
Can you pay with targeta?
Can one pay with card?
Say,
Pue
Pagar
With
Targetta
Can One Pay with Cod
In a place as beautiful as the
Plaza de Spain
It's common to ask others to help snap a photo
Happens to me all the time
Luckily, I can ask Jorge
Jorge
Pue de tomarme a photo
Can you take a photo of me?
Pue
Tome
A photo
Pue
Can you take me
a photo
A photo
Pue de tomarme
a photo
Or
more simply you can just say
A photo, por favor
A photo please
One
photo
for
favor
here's a tip
photo is one of those
few Spanish words
that sounds like it should be masculine
but is actually
feminine
this is because despite ending in an O
it's la
photo
as amazing as these tourist attractions are
we never know when we need to answer
nature's call
therefore
to answer to
ask where are the bathrooms, we can say,
Donde stand los banos.
Donde
Estan.
Los
Banyos.
Fortunately, the Plaza de Espagna is completely free to enter and enjoy.
However, I've also heard they'll soon be implemented.
an entry fee, which is pretty normal for tourist sites like this, I guess in order to cover
maintenance fees. To ask, how much is the entrance fee, we can ask,
Quanto cost la entrata.
Quanto, cost a la entrada. To ask what time it opens, you'd say,
Ake or
Abre
Que
Oda
Abre
Ake Ora
Ake Ora abe
Likewise
To ask what time it shuts
We'd say
Ake
Oda
Sierra
A
What
Siera
Cierra
Ake Ora
Sierra
Alternatively
You could just ask
What the Operator
hours are.
Ke orario
diene.
Let me say that slower.
To remember
orario,
think of its similarity to
ora, which means
hour in Spanish.
And of course, we use
hours or hours
to schedule our time.
Hence,
horario.
What hourio
Well, there we go.
That should be enough to get you navigating around one of the many beautiful tourist attractions,
not just in Spain, but the entire Hispanic world.
Hey, a momento.
Can you hear that?
It's unmistakable.
What else could it be around here other than the sounds of flamenco echoing through the plaza?
It sounds majestic.
It sounds majestic.
Vamos.
I want to get closer.
I want to get closer.
I'm coming from that way.
Up the stairs.
And by the column, can you see?
There seems to be a lot of people gathered.
Vamos, let us.
Here.
Here.
Here.
Here is that.
A baller of flamenco.
Stunning the crowds.
Ole!
Oleg!
Uh-oh.
Jorge.
She's pointing at you.
At me?
No.
I think she wants to dance.
Okay.
Fine.
I hate to disappoint.
I'll follow your step.
Well,
vamos to bailar.
Wow.
That was a rush.
I loved that.
Lots of people recording, though.
I hope I didn't mess up too bad.
I actually need a break.
How about I sit on this mural away from the action?
Whilst I watch the horses pass and catch my breath,
we can test you on everything you need to know
to be prepared to come to a place like this.
How would you ask if there is an ATM here?
There a cajero automatic here?
There.
Cajero.
Automatic.
Here.
How would you ask if one can pay with card?
Cue.
Pue de Pagar with targeta?
C.
Pugre.
With targeta.
If ever, you need to ask somebody to take a photo of you, what would you ask?
Pue tomar me a photo?
Pue.
Tomarme.
One
photo.
Or, a more simplified
way of asking this would be
a photo,
for favor.
One photo.
For favor.
The next time you need to answer
Nature's call, what would you ask?
Donde stand those banios.
Donde?
Where are the
Banyos?
Where are the banos?
How would you ask how much the entrance costs?
Quanto cost the Entrada
Quanto
Cuesta
La
Entrada
How would you ask at what time it opens?
Aque hour abre
A
What?
Ora.
Abre.
Likewise, how would you ask what time it shuts?
Ake or a sierra?
Ah, what are the opening hours?
Cierra.
Alternatively, how would you ask what are the opening hours?
Remember, think of the word,
Oro.
O'rario.
What orio
Tiene?
What?
Orario.
Tien.
For example,
what do you
have
La Plaza de
Spain?
And that's it
finished.
Once you can
answer those questions,
you'll be
well on your way
to impressing the locals
and you'll never have to worry
about wondering
where the toilets are again.
But guys,
I'm feeling a little bit exhausted after that adrenaline rush
and I seem to have left Jorge with the crowds
you guys should be able to hold your own around here right
if there's anything you need
you know how to defend yourself
how about we catch up in the next episode
maybe we can tour some of the local casino in Sevilla
I heard it's rather exquisite
after
Pronto my
people
we're
we're going
in the
next
episode
Ciao
Here's
something
I learned

struggle

they struggle
with

they know the

too afraid
to speak

why
