It's a gloomy Sunday afternoon here in London, and I've finally decided to tackle cleaning out my attic. Poh, it's really dusty up here. Let's see what we've got. Old books, Libos of Antigues, photo albums,
Starting point is 00:00:30 albums of photos. And... Hang on, wait. What's this over here? It's some kind of leather-bound book. Let me brush off this dust. Oh wow. It's a diary.
Starting point is 00:00:49 A diario. And it belongs to... My great-grandfather, Albert. I can't believe it. My great-grandfather, my bis-a-bo-a-a-aubuelo Albert, this is from his time in Colombia, over a century ago. It looks like he was a translator for a company exploring Lake Guatavita. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:01:23 That's interesting. But, wait a second. What are these strange symbols? and these maps, oh my goodness, this seems to be about the legendary Tesora de El Dorado, the El Dorado treasure. There are clues here about something called El Secreto Dorado, the golden secret. This is incredible. What does this say?
Starting point is 00:02:00 I was a part of the expedition team sent from England to discover the secrets and the secrets. treasure of El Dorado. But I made sure the secrets remained undiscovered. What am I reading right now? I know the true location of the treasure and it's important that no one ever discovers it. You know what? I think we need to go to Colombia to figure this one out. But before we embark on this adventure, let's make sure you're prepared with some

Let's go over the basics, and if that's too simple for you, then you should have no problem telling me the following. Number one, hello. How do you say hello? Ola. Ola. No. 2. Starting point is 00:04:37 How? Te. Now, with that alone, everything we just covered, you can really get the ball rolling in a place like Colombia. Let me demonstrate how you'd use these in a conversation. Ready? Hola. Buenos days.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Me am I caf. Como te amas? This means, hello, good morning. My name's Kav. What's your name? Now again, but a bit slower. Ready? Hola. Hello. Buenos days.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Me name Kav. Como te amas? If someone responds with their name, you might say, Ah, mucho gusto. Como estas? Which means, nice to meet you. How are you? Once more.
Starting point is 00:05:43 Much gusto. Como estes? Let's break all this down. Hola is your go-to greeting. Use it any time of day. Buenos days is specifically for mornings. Remember, in Spanish-speaking countries, morning typically extends until lunchtime.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Me Amo. Literally translates to I call myself. But it's the common way to say my name is in Spanish. Como Te Amas is how you'd ask for somebody's name. It literally means how do you call yourself? Mucho gusto is a polite way to say, nice to meet you. It literally means a lot of pleasure.
Starting point is 00:06:47 Howe Estes? Is your standard? How are you? Now, as I keep examining this diary, this diario, I'm getting more and more intrigued. These maps, these symbols, I really think we're onto something big here. But before we get carried away, let's test your memory on those greetings. How do you say hello in Spanish? Hola.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Ola. What about good morning? Buenos days. Buenos days. How did you ask? What's your name? Como te amas? Como?
Starting point is 00:08:03 Te amas. And to answer that question, you'd say, me amo. Followed by your name, of course. me yamo lastly how do you say
