We're making our way through the dense rainforest around Lake Guatavita. We're heading towards the northern shore. It's hot.
Starting point is 00:00:58 It's humid. and wait. God, what was that sonio? I think it's a mono. They're all parts in this cell. Don't worry.
Starting point is 00:01:18 I think it was just a howler monkey. They're everywhere in this jungle, which is a biodiverse hotspot. Speaking of which, let's learn about some of the animals we might encounter here. First and foremost, what we just heard, the howler monkey.
Starting point is 00:01:38 El Mono Aweador El Mono Aoyador Number two is a big cat exclusive to South and Central America. It is of course the jaguar. El haguar. El haguar. The spelling is exactly the same as it is in English.
Starting point is 00:02:12 But remember in Spanish, J is pronounced as an H. El haguar. Number three. We have the toucan. El Tucan. El. Tucan.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Remember to stress that A. El. Tucan. Very bien. Number four is one we really need to be careful of. The poisoned dart frog. La Rana venenosa. La.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Rana. Venenoza. The frog is La Rana. The poison frog is La Rana Venenosa. Finally, one of the bigger predators around here, the anaconda. La Anaconda.
Starting point is 00:03:33 La Anaconda. Finally, we have the slough. El Perezzo. El Perezozo. Did you know that El Pere Soso also means the lazy in Spanish? Makes sense why the slough is therefore called El Perezzo. Kaab, mirage, be that pasharo? Oh my goodness.
Starting point is 00:04:17 It's a tucan. Anna, no te move. as. Wow. What a beautiful creature. These are only found in this part of the world. Peru, Colombia, Ecuador. I'm really feeling blessed right now. While we wait for this, beautiful Tukin to pass, let's practice some more useful phrases. Number one, watch out for the snake. Cuyadado con la Serpiente. Starting point is 00:07:19 Viajero, seeing all of these amazing animals, It reminds me of how important it is to protect these rainforests. They really are home to so much biodiversity. Oh, I think I hear a stream nearby. Let's stop for a water break and review what we've learned. How would you say, the jaguar in Spanish? El haguar. El haguar.

Starting point is 00:09:35 but we still need to find the underwater cave and figure out how we're going to explore it.
