I'm registering both myself and Anna, so she'll be all-south. set when she arrives. It sure looks like there are a lot of people waiting. I hope it doesn't take too long. But I still can't believe that after our adventure in Colombia, I'm now here preparing a new life for Anna and me.
Starting point is 00:01:21 It's like a dream. Going from treasure hunting to doing bureaucratic paperwork. Who could have imagined it? So, it's probably a wise idea that we love. some healthcare basics in Spanish. Let's begin. To say social security is La Seguridad Social Social.
Starting point is 00:01:50 La Seguridad Social. Here's a handy grammar tip. Notice Seguridad is feminine. La Seguridad. Well, words ending in DAD, Dad, are almost always feminine, like la Ciudad, the city, or La Libertad, the freedom. So just think Dad equals feminine.
Starting point is 00:02:25 The next word we should learn is health center. Health center is El Centro de Salud. El Centro dee salud. the center of health Here's a memory trick Salud means health Think of how

Starting point is 00:04:44 Insurance makes you feel sure you're protected. El Seguro medico. Health insurance. Next we have public health care. La sanidad publica. La sanidad publica. How do you think we would then say private healthcare? Remember, public health care is la sanidad publica.
Starting point is 00:05:26 Private health care is la sanidad privada. La sanidad privada. So, you may be wondering, how does the healthcare system work in Spain? How does the system of health care system of Spanish? Well, basically, Spain has a system of health universal. A system of health universal. One

Starting point is 00:10:07 It's La Emergencia La Emergencia Illness is Enfermedad Enfermeidad Now, do you think that's a masculine word or a feminine word?
Starting point is 00:10:34 Remember what I told you about words ending in that? Uh-huh, that's correct. It's a feminine word because, like most Spanish words that end in dad, it is feminine. La Enfermeidad. To say the pain in Spanish is el dolor the allergy or allergy is la alergia
Starting point is 00:11:11 the good news is that alergia sounds very similar to allergy in English but remember when a word ending in a such as la is followed by a word starting with a
Starting point is 00:11:35 such as Alerjia, we blend them together smoothly. I mention this in the first episode of Season 4. So, if you want to sound like a native, it's not La Alerjia, but La Alerjia. We blend those two words together. Next we have Prescription. La Reseta. La Reseta. False friend alert
Starting point is 00:12:11 Reseta also means recipe Doctors give you a recipe for medicine In other words a prescription La receta The word for medication is Medicamento Medicamento
Starting point is 00:12:33 Medicamento One medication is Medicamento Many Medicamentos We simply add an S. So, how elixo our center of health?
Starting point is 00:12:59 Entiento. Normally, it's assigned according the direction of domicilio. I want one close to our apartment. For favor.
