Hey everyone, this is going out to all listeners of Legends of the Old West and Infamous America
on the public feeds and to Black Barrel Plus members.
I want to update you on what's coming up and what's been going on.
And so that I don't bury the lead, the scheduling update is that there's going to be a longer
break than normal after the seasons that just aired.
If you just finished listening to Women of the West on Legends and North Hollywood Robbery
on Infamous, I hope you enjoyed them.
And the seasons after those were originally scheduled.
to start in June, but I had to push them back to July, and here's why. Long-time listeners,
especially to Legends of the Old West, know that I've been writing a book about the Old West
for a year and a half now. The book is a really exciting project, and it comes straight out of the
podcast. It's a non-fiction book that will feature some of the biggest names in the West,
all in the same book. I had the opportunity to pitch it to a major publisher, and when they said,
yes, I obviously couldn't turn it down. I tried lots of different things last year in
2021 to buy myself time to work on the book while also working on the podcasts. And unfortunately,
none of those things worked out the way I'd planned. I wanted to slowly chip away at the book
over the course of a year and a half, and instead, I ended up having to lock myself away for a
month and do nothing but work on the book. So the result is that I have to push back the release
of new seasons by a month. During the break, we're going to rerun the Dodge City series on
Legends and the Alcatraz series on Infamous. This year, Mark,
the 60th anniversary of the most famous escape attempt from Alcatraz, and Dodge City is part of my book,
so those stories seemed most appropriate. Again, long-time listeners know that I hate doing stuff like this,
but unfortunately that's how it goes sometimes. I believe it was the prophet Mick Jagger who said,
you can't always get what you want, and that's definitely true in this case. But there are a couple
silver linings in the deal. Number one, the book is done, at least the first draft anyway, thankfully.
If there are no major revisions, then that's a massive project off my plate.
Number two, we're not cutting any episodes.
So the second half of the year is going to be jam-packed, and the gaps between seasons will be really small.
We're already working on four new seasons right now, so when we start back up again in the second half of July, we're going to be off to the races.
For our Black Barrel Plus members, again, I wish there was a way I could have avoided this.
If it affects your memberships, I totally get it.
hopefully this is the last time I have to do something like this.
So that's the update. I won't keep you any longer.
Thanks for listening and I'll talk to you soon.
