And Emily is going to tell us about an experience, a ghost hunting, experience in a very apparently haunted location, I think.

Yes. Emily, welcome back to the show. I know we've talked at least three or four times. Welcome back. Please tell us what happened and we'll go from there. Yeah, absolutely. So every year, a group of friends and I go out and do a paranormal, you know, excursion. And this past year, we went to the South Pittsburgh Hospital. And it is, they've dedicated it now to being a paranormal research center. but it is in South Pittsburgh, Tennessee, and you can just rent it out for the night. So we decided to do that.

We had about 10-10-ish people in our group, just a wonderful group of women. We split up into two, and we had one guy that was there that was in charge of our well-being for the night. So he had given us rules on don't, you know, don't go outside. If you see anyone outside, let us know, obviously, because people try to break in to ghost hunt on their own. And we were like, cool. So we went on with the night. And we had a normal, paranormal experience from what I can tell, you know, EMF readers going off, hearing things. I won't get too much into that because it was a long night.

But about two in the morning, most of the. crew was just so tired. And they were like, we're going to go back to the hotel. But my sister-in-law and my cousin and I were like, we're not done yet. So we'll stick around. And the the person in charge of us said that typically you end up getting more experiences with fewer people in the group. That makes sense. So yeah, yeah. So we were like, you know, maybe it'll change a little bit. We'll get some more spooky stuff.

And we decided we'll go to this one spot we hadn't been to yet because the hospital is pretty big if you know, you're a smaller group. So we went in and we're like, man, we're feeling kind of weird. And we're next to the front door. And we heard the front door open and close. and we radioed our guy and was like, hey, was that you that went outside because he smoked? And he was like, yeah, but I'm back upstairs now. And we're like, okay, cool. That was accounted for, no big deal.

So we went into the lobby next to the front door. And as we're talking to him, we start feeling really odd. And he radioed back almost immediately and he said, hey, where are you exactly in this hospital? And we said, we're by the front door because that's where we thought you were. And he went, okay. And then did not elaborate. So I was like, why did you ask that? Because he hadn't asked us where we were the whole night. And he said, oh, I heard you upstairs in your setup room. But you're a story down and like a hundred feet away on a completely different level. He's like, but I'm a story down. He's like, but I'm a story down. And like, I heard you guys talking in this room that you have all your equipment in. So they were copying us there. And we were like, okay, I think we're done here. This is that really freaked us out.

And it kind of freaked out the guy too. And we went back upstairs and I was sitting down taking notes, just kind of taking notes. Just kind of taking notes. So I don't forget anything because we. do do this for a reason. So I was taking notes and my cousin is staring a hole in my head. And I'm like, shy, are you okay? And she said, I hear your voice coming down the hall. Oh, man. But you're sitting in front of me silent writing. And that I was like, okay, write faster. We got to get out of here. And then my sister-in-law is also staring a hole at me. And I thought that she was just

freaked out for the same reason. And we were like, okay, we packed up the rest of our stuff and we got out of there. I think we left like an hour earlier than we needed to because we were, we were like, okay, we're done. And then we got into the car and Shelby, my sister-in-law said, I have to tell you something. And I didn't want to tell you at the time because we were still inside the building. But as you were taking notes, someone, I saw a shadow looking over your shoulder, like looking at my notes as I was writing them. Like someone was looking over around the corner. Oh, man. Oh, man. I know. I know. And we were like, well, that was crazy. We went to the hotel, went home. All seemed to be fine. Well, I was going back through the

recordings and again there were just three women standing in the part of this audio that I found. We were standing in the front talking to the guy about where we were, where he was, and he was telling us he heard us upstairs. And in the recording, we didn't hear this in person. He said, or there was a voice come on and it said the F word Oh, okay.

Very low and it was a male voice so it wasn't any of us and he was the only guy that was there was upstairs well away from us and so it was a F it was like

fudge you know I'm not trying to guess but you know I got you good job good job thank you scared me to death because we did not hear it at all during that time. We would have said something. You can tell none of us reacted to it in the recording. And that was probably one of the scariest things.

I got to tell you, you're braver than I am. Now, let me ask again, would you go back to that place after this all happening? You're really braver than I am for sure. We have plans to go to the Fort and Savannah, Fort Pulaski, this September. So, yeah, I'd go back. Now, did you get any sense? I mean, obviously, the place is haunted any sense for the history or who that might? I mean, there's a lot of people in the history of a hospital, so it could have been almost anybody.

But any thoughts? Is there like a known ghost or something that this might have been? There's a couple known ghosts. I forget his name because it's been a while, but there was a character. taker of the hospital. And in the very front, there was his, like, apartment. And he actually had, he played music. So he had, like, a couple soundproof booths and stuff. So he lived on the hospital. And they said his ghost resides there. So it could have been him. It could have been one of the many people that passed away there. We don't really know exactly. But we were in

relation to, you know, we were right outside of his, like, apartment area. So it could have been him. Hmm. Interesting. Interesting. Well, you definitely sounds like you stumbled on something there and wow. I mean, that's something when you're taking notes and, oh, he was watching you or it was watching. Ooh, that's creepy. That's what we specialize in. That's a great story. It's a great story. Emily, thank you for being on the show once again. And stay spooky. Stay spooky. Next up on the campfire is Alara from Canada up in Edmonton there. And she's been listening for years and years and years pre-pandemic. And we're so glad to have her with us. Alara, you told me that you lived in some place that was haunted. I won't give away the punchline. But tell us about it. And thank you for being here. Tell us what happened.

My pleasure, Jim. Okay, so this happened when I was about 18 years old, so about 2007. I had just graduated high school and gone all the way across Canada on a train, which is a longer trip than one might think, and was living with my aunt and uncle away from home for the first time. And I was staying in my cousin's basement. My cousin is only a couple years older than me and had just moved out. and the setup of the basement matters. So it was two rooms where a wall had been knocked down to create one room.

And there was like a landing right above the stairs like facing my bed. So like when I like if I looked up, I could look across the room and see up to the top of that like little little miniature floor landing. So the first thing happened. I don't remember how long I had been there. but I don't think it was very long. The first thing happened, I woke up to a song being whistled, and it was like, clear as a bell, a song being whistled right at the top of the stairs. And I just like shuffled in my sleep and assumed right away that my aunt was whistling to try to wake me up.

But when I looked up, there was nobody there, and it was like 2 a.m. And I was like, okay, that's really, really weird, but like whistling, whatever, not the end of the world. So that happened maybe two or three times within the first couple of weeks that the experiences started happening where I would wake up in the middle of the night to whistling, like right at the top of those stairs. Right. And then it escalated. It started escalating. So after the whistling, there was one or two times where. I would look over onto my wall beside me, and there would be like three to five lights just like kind of dancing around on the wall.

And yeah, and again, I wasn't scared by this. It was just like, oh yeah, okay. I've had paranormal experiences off and on my whole life, so I was like not super freaked out by either of these things happening. However, after those two things, it continued to escalate. And one night I was sleeping, so I said that the setup of the room matters. And the setup of the room matters because the wall was like right to my left. That would like, that used to be a wall. And it was a separate room. Like, it was kind of like, I had like a little shelf between the two spaces. So it felt like two rooms.

but the other room, I was just using it for storage. So I wasn't in that side of the room very often. So I was sleeping and I was sleeping facing that side of the room. And I got slapped in the face awake and woke up in the middle of the night, having been slapped in the face. And that scared me quite understandably. and I woke up and went upstairs and did not sleep in the basement again for probably a month or so and I would still spend time down there

because all my stuff was in that space and as I was like spending time down there and I just felt creepy every time I was in the basement I realized that there was this like one point in that in that like storage area part where there was this old photograph on the wall that drew my attention and I asked my aunt about it and apparently my cousin had just bought this old photograph at a garage sale he had no idea who was in it or anything about it just thought it was like a cool photograph and it was just a photograph of a bunch of people standing it looked like it was maybe from like the 40s

It was very old photograph. And I took that photograph out of the space and then the creep factor lifted. So I think there was something attached to that photograph. Yeah. And then the activity kind of stopped after I moved that. But it took me a couple of months to figure out that's what was going on because I was just too scared to. I don't blame you. I would stay out there as much as possible.

Especially, you know, it's one thing if something moves, something. or if you see something, that could be scary enough. When it comes to physical contact, somebody slapping you or something slapping you, it's like, okay. And we've not really had a lot of that in the show. I think we had one where someone felt that something had tried to push them down the stairs, which is very scary. But not a lot of physical context. So that, to me, that correct. I mean, it's just like real, you know, real life or everyday life or with real people, you know, somebody might irk you.

they might bother you or things like that. But then when it comes into physical contact, that is definitely a line. Then it gets dangerous. Yeah, it was terrifying. I also kind of just like I felt like I can't remember. Like it was, I was 18. This is a long time ago. But I think that I felt for a while, I felt like just like something was watching when I was like if I would face in the other direction, like my back felt watched somehow.

And it just, it felt uncomfortable and creepy. And then that happened when I was facing that room. Wow. Wow. And then everything dissipated after you got rid of the picture. Everything dissipated. I put it in the garage and there was a bit of an ick factor in the garage. So it wasn't mine to get rid of.

But the energy lifted in the downstairs. Well, the thing is, is that I, you know, and I've said this many times, so I'm repeating myself. But I backed off a little bit off of buying vintage stuff. And I used to love that. I used to, you know, even if you look in back of me, there's like a brownie camera up there that I probably bought 30 years ago. You know, and I'll occasionally if something really catches my eye, I'll get it. But I'm a little more circumspect because you wonder who had this, you know, you wonder if stuff can attach. You wonder if stuff can attach.

And I kind of coming to the conclusion that it can, especially with stories like yours. Well, Alara, thank you for joining us. Go Oilers. And take care and thanks for being a part of the campfire. Jen, welcome to the show. I know you've been listening for a few years. I appreciate it very much. Tell us what happened. Thank you so much, Jim. So I live in Columbus, Ohio. HIO. Yes.

And we have a ghost tour here. It's called booze and booze. So basically you go to different bars around downtown Columbus. And you get a drink, you hear the stories. So the way it works is usually go to five spots. And so you get a drink at every one. The last spot on the tour is called the Boat House at Confluence Park. Okay.

By the time I get there and I'm tipsy, I've done this about five times maybe. You're like a little bit tipsy. So I have my phone out and I'm just like, oh, let me just take all these pictures, picture, picture, picture. By the end of the night, I'm good. I'm like, okay, I'm done, going to go home. The next morning I look at my photos and, whoa, I have pictures of ghosts. Oh, my. It scared me so much.

So the first picture I saw and I actually deleted it because I didn't want it following me. Oh, man. I've never had that experience before in my life. So I was like, oh boy. So basically, the boathouse at Confluence Park is at the confluence of two rivers in Columbus. So that is known for having paranormal phenomenon. So during the Revolutionary War, there's an island there. There was an island, like a little island.

and they called it British Island because the British Revolutionary soldiers were on that island but then the Americans were kind of on the outskirts and had their rifles and they shot the British soldiers.

So it was renamed Bloody Island. So I took pictures and it's a window in the boathouse. I took a picture and it's a restaurant but you can do ghost tours there. So I took a picture and in the picture was a soldier. So I googled British Revolutionary War Soldier, same uniform, hat, everything.

And I was like, oh my God, I got a picture of it. And so I deleted it, though. I don't have that anymore. But after that, I kept doing this tour and I got a series of photos. So one of them. And so my phone was, I was on a trip in Europe and my phone was stolen. So the photo was actually a live photo, but I had screenshoted it. So the live photo is gone forever.

But in the screenshot, there's a girl in the picture in the window that was, I mean, this group is all 21 and up. I mean, this was a small girl. Right. And the picture. And it is creepy. Another one I have, and sorry, I'm just looking here, is someone, it kind of looks almost like pilgrim. Like there's a weird hat on it. And it has, if you watch scary movies, I love scary movies.

It has that face, like the wide open mouth. Oh, man. Now, what we could do is I could edit these in after the fact. So send those to me and I'll put them in. So the first one was the little girl. And this was someone with a pilgrim's hat? It looks almost like, yeah, it's like a hat that is like a cap and then it has wings. Oh, my.

Yeah. Whoa. Very creepy. And I still can't believe I got these. Okay. And then another story from the boathouse, there's a room where it said that you can hear kids and there are little kids handprints up really high on the windows. like kids cannot reach them. So I took pictures of these windows.

I have a picture of a child's handprint. And to correlate that, I had a friend who worked a shift at the boathouse and the manager told her that he went back to this room, heard kids playing, open the door, heard shh. And when he opened the door, no one was there.

Oh, man. I know. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. A storage room, I got a picture of a man and he looks diseased. Like, his face is missing pieces, I would say. Yeah. It looks, like, to me, it looks definitely like a man's face.

Like, I can see a nose and eyes and all of that. Oh, my. And it's just, yeah. looks like he's just missing pieces of his face, very creepy. And in that same room, I saw, like, you know, orbs. Yeah. There's a almost, I don't know how to describe it, like a line going across. That's a light.

Wow. Like it's a spirit. Oh, it's so creepy. And then one other location we went to was the Cultural Art Center in Columbus. and there was a stack of chairs, and I was just taking random pictures, and I saw a woman's face. Oh, my Lord.

So you feel that the ghosts that night were showing themselves? Yeah, and well, this was over, like, because the first tour I did was that Revolutionary World War Soldier, and I deleted it because I was so afraid. But then I did several other tours, and I took pictures, and I just was like, I need proof. Like, I believe in this, you know? Like, I need proof that this is real.

Like some people, I've showed friends, you know, and some of them are like, oh, that's not real. And I'm like, no, I mean, I took these photos. Like, I cannot edit this. This is real. Well, well, two things we will, if you can send those along, I will put them into the file. I'll put them into this video. So, folks, hopefully, if everything works out, you will have seen these. And then you would have been very nice and said you would put them on our virtual campfire.

But she told me stories and then I've always been into like scary movies. I got all the scary books from the library when I was a kid, but I had never seen anything. And so this definitely was like fundamental in me truly believing that these things exist. And I've had. Yeah. And I've had other experiences like not photographic where I've had like my shirt tugged. I've had someone breathing on my neck. Wow.

Yeah. No, we try to, and I find a lot of that. We do the show. And then I find, oh, now they're reporting on that. It's just a coincidence, but we try to pick up on those things early and let our audience know. So if you want to know it first, listen to the paranormal report, as Jay says. That's right.

Jay has a story about his grandma in the Philippines, and we're so glad to have Jay on. Jay, please tell us what happened. Okay, so I'm Filipino on my mother's side, and I'm out new on my dad's side. I know your family hails from West by God as well, right? That's right, West by God, Virginia. You got it. Okay, so we lived in the Philippines when this happened. in the fifth grade, I believe. You know that post-burt scent of a candle right after you blow it out?

Yes, yes. So, well, one day, my mom and I smelled it very strongly, but we haven't been burning any candles at the time. As soon as my mom heard, I smelled it, she started to worry that it was a bad omen that when the family had passed away. I think this was a common way her family members who lived far away would allow those members to know something like that happened. Right. So in the 60s, communication wasn't really easy.

It wasn't readily available, especially if your family lived in another island. We'd need to either get on a plane or get on a boat to get to where my mom. province was. So my mom was just beside herself with worry, and she started organizing things in her head just in case. About three days later, we received a telegram that my grandmother passed. And as soon as my mom read that telegram, we started to smell this very distinct herbal, flowery scent.

I have nothing to compare it to since I've never smelled it before, but my mom was familiar with it. She quickly made arrangements. We traveled to her province, and as soon as we made it to my grandparents' home, we were inundated with this scent again. Wow. We missed the funeral because of the time lapse from when we were notified. and then, you know, when my mom was able to make the arrangements. But when we got to my grandparents' house, her memorial, you know, like her pictures and things like that, pictures were still up. So we started crying, and my mom was really, really sad because, of course, she wanted to see her mom one more time, but she was able to.

And then we were, like I said, we were surrounded by that scent. again, no one else can smell it, just me and my mom. And then we spent about three weeks in her province, and then as we were leaving to go back home, my mom started crying again because she said that my grandma was saying goodbye to her by surrounding her again with that same aroma. And this time, she was the only one who was able to smell it, no one else. And then I did find out what that scent was from. It was an herb that my mom's family grew in their farm, and it's an herb that they used to bathe the body to prepare it for burial.

Oh, boy. Wow. So it was a very specific, it was a very specific herb that, you know, fit the situation. she was really communicating that through scent. And I do believe that. I believe our past loved ones have ways of communicating things that are very direct and they're directed towards us very specifically. Yes. And I thought it was really, it was really interesting that when we were leaving just my mom was the only one who was able to smell that scent. No, it makes sense. It makes sense. You're very directly telling her daughter, okay, this is it. I've moved on to the other side.

I've moved on to the other side. Yes. Yes. I think in a way that's a beautiful story, you know, Jay. I think that's very meaningful. Yes. And I think it's kind of unique to my mom's side of the family because I don't hear of anyone else having this kind of story unless you've heard of something like this before.

I've heard of sense being associated with people who have passed, but not this specifically, and particularly that piece about that herb being used for burial. That's fascinating. That's really great. Jay, it's a fantastic story. I thank you so much for sharing it today. And thanks for your kind words and stay spooky.

another story, but this might be about something on two legs. She's going to tell us all about Ti. Welcome back. One of my favorite people. And can't wait to tell this story. You're such a great storyteller. And I always have such compelling things to say. Tell us what happened this time around. Well, thanks, Jim. I really really. appreciate this. It's great to see you. So last May, it had been just a heck of a winter. I had fallen and broken my back in February and was still recovering. We had mountains of snow. I live up in northern Michigan. And then comes May and everything thaws. And in early May, we had our first day where it reached 70 degrees. And since I had been,

recovering from this injury, I was using a wheelchair and a walker, and I would be able to sit in my wheelchair on the front porch, and it was just so gorgeous, and the birds were singing, and I said to my husband, let's go out, can we get out to the woods? Can we go out? There's a spot that we always go to. It's by a creek, and there's a ravine. It's just gorgeous, but it's fairly accessible. And it was the full moon. So I said, let's go watch the full moon rise, and he's pretty much. much ready for anything. And so we pack up my wheelchair and my walker and a camp chair for him. And whenever I go out to the woods, I always bring a little something for the woodland beings for the woodland creatures. You know, it's sort of like a hostess gift. I usually bring

like butter, bread and honey or apples or something. And this time, I had baked blueberry muffins. So I brought two fresh blueberry muffins to leave for the creatures. Now, also in early May, in this area, there's a lot of black bears. So of course, blueberry muffins could attract a bear. So we were being mindful of that sort of thing as well. So we get there and the sun is just above the trees and we park the car and this little turnaround and then we're making our way. I'm, you using my walker schlepping through the thick leaf litter because it's early spring and the trees just have that lacy green on them. We were also, the spring peepers were out and that's one of my favorite that we called the spring symphony, the peepers. So we were going to listen to the peepers

and watch the moon rise on this beautiful, clear evening, not a cloud in the sky. And we put our chairs down. My husband pulled out his phone. He's got one of those sky apps to see exactly where the moon was going to rise, and we just positioned our chairs facing the, where the moon was going to come up over the trees. We stayed on top of the hill. We didn't go down to the creek this time, because I couldn't get there this time. And I left the muffins right next to this big grandmother tree, an old ancient tree that had a little, like a spot right at her base, where it wasn't in the dirt. It was on the root of the tree. And that was between. the car and us, which is, I don't usually do that.

I usually put it further away, but I was disabled at the time. So we sit down, we put everything away, and the sun just starts to drop below the trees. And as this is happening, I'm noticing more and more clouds are coming in. And this is where we live, we get lake effect. What that is is the evaporation on Lake Michigan forms clouds right about where we live. Right. I'm watching these clouds roll in and thinking, oh, I hope we could see the moon rise and they're moving and more and more. And the sun is sinking.

And as soon as the sun dropped below the trees and we're in that twilight, the peeper started singing. And the daybirds, you know, that we're calling, it was, you'd think the forest is quiet, but it's a cacophony. It is a, there's so much going on in the woods. And the daybird stopped and the night bird started to call. and then the peeper started singing and drown everybody else out. And it was just glorious. And we just sat there and the sun sat and it was getting darker and darker. And we didn't move.

We didn't talk. We didn't look at our phones. We didn't build a fire. We didn't bring something to drink or to eat. We just sat still in the woods in silence, just observing. And I was paying attention. We were in this grove. I was paying attention to the periphery because if a bear did come in, I wanted to let them know,

hey, humans in the woods. You know, I didn't want to surprise a bear, especially that time of year, and could have cubs. So I was paying attention to the edge of the woods. And you could see pretty far in because it was early in the year. And then the sunset and the peeper is just saying as loud as it could be. And the moon should have been rising. but it looked like there was a full cloud cover. So we could see the glow behind the clouds where the moon was,

but we couldn't see the moon itself. But we still just sat there listening to the peepers. And then at some point, we were there probably an hour and a half, just sitting still, not speaking, which is very unusual for my husband. And just sitting. And the moon rose like above the trees. you could see it glowing behind the clouds. And then all of a sudden, everything got really quiet.

The peeper stopped singing. And I got this chill. Now, at that time of year up north here, it could get cold really fast. And once you reach a certain temperature, the peepers will stop. Right. You know, like at 40 some degrees or something. They just, they get back down in the water and quiet down. So I thought, maybe it's getting cold.

and everything was silent, not a sound in the woods. And so I just very quietly said to my husband, I'm getting chilly, I think it's time to go. And he said, okay. And now it's pitch black because there's clouds, so there's no moon or stars. And I stand up stiffly, oil can, oil can, and grab a hold of my walker. And my phone was on like this phone purse. So I hung it over the front of me and put the flashlight on aiming down so I wouldn't trip on roots or anything. And I'm just making my way with my walker with step, step super slowly. My husband is pushing the wheelchair with his camp chair on his back. And just these slow steps, the only sound was our footsteps through the leaves. And we're about maybe 15, 20 feet from the car. And right next to us, we're side by side. And right next to us was this

ear-splitting whoop. And it was a two-pitched. It was low to high, like a woo-woo, loud, so loud, and it was right next to us. It was within five, six feet of us. And we couldn't see anything. We didn't turn to look. We both just froze and didn't move. And I didn't say anything to him. It was just this loud, so loud whoop. Now, we've been in the woods a lot. We've heard owls and barren Owls will make a huge variety of sounds. This did not sound like an owl. This was louder than any owl I've heard. Plus, the trees are really old there, so the branches are high up, and this was right

next to us. So we froze and then didn't say anything, and I took one more step, and it did it again. same sound just a little bit further away but same sound and and i just said what was that and rasmid said i don't know and so now i fumble with my phone to see if i have a recording app because i want to know what's making this sound now i got to tell you i am a ghost person i am but i have never considered cryptids at all. I never, you know, I never even thought

that there'd be something like that in the woods of satchquatch. I never thought about that. I'd hear the stories from time to time, but that was not, it's not just not in my wheelhouse. So I wanted to see what owl or creature was making this sound so close. And I couldn't get it.

So I put on my video and it was just black and waited. We stood there. I think it was like two and a half minutes on the video. Nothing happened, so I stopped it. We took two more steps, and once again, this super loud, so loud, whoop. And it was like the hair on your neck stood up, but it wasn't, it didn't sound threatening. It was just like, it was like a warning. It was like, we're here, you know, and so we froze again. And then off in the distance, we heard the same call.

Now that made me think maybe an owl because owls will do that. But it was not, I mean, I googled every owl call there is. Anyway, so we're just thinking that was weird. And we get to the car, throw the wheelchair in the back. I'm driving. And so I get in the driver's seat. And I look at that when I start the car up, it's not cold at all. It's 63 degrees.

There's no reason for the peeper. to have stopped. Right. And so I was like, well, that's weird. So anyway, we start driving home. And we get off the dirt road and we're on the paved road and there's a spot between this place in the woods in our home where it opens up and there's a pond on one side and there's a stream and wetland on the other.

And as we started to approach, the peepers were so loud that I just stopped in the little causeway between these two wet areas right in the middle of the water. the road, kept my foot on the break, opened all the windows, and we just sat there listening. And it was still, and it was warm, you know, it wasn't cold like it was in the grove over there. And we sat there just maybe three to five minutes, just listen to people's weird, we are old people. And then I thought, well, I'm in the middle of the road. I should make sure that there's nobody coming up behind me. So I look in the rearview mirror. And the red light of the brake lights in the rear view mirror, there is this red handprint in the middle of the back

window. We have like a, we've got an equinox, so it's got, you know, the back, it's like a mini SUV thing, handprint right in the middle of the window. And I was like, and it was red. It was so scary looking, I got to tell you. It wasn't there before because when I looked to back up and And there was anyway, the car was clean when we left home, you know, so I don't know, but it scared me and I said to my husband, what is that? And I took a picture of the rearview mirror because I couldn't turn around yet with my back. He turned around and took a picture of it. And then I rolled up the window and said, well, you got to get out here.

And we got home. So when we pulled in the driveway, there's a street light right out front. And we got out and looked at this handprint. and it is the strangest thing I have ever seen, except for the painting at the Roadhouse alone, in my life. This handprint, the fingers are longer than what is anatomically normal for a human hand. The position of the thumb, you know, when you get a handprint, you get a flat handprint for the person. This had what's called a simian thumb print where it's like the thumb is crission.

and you only get the tip of the thumb. And when we looked at it, it looked like it was like somebody dipped in white clay and put it right in the middle of the window. And it was, it was, it was crazy. So I just did a little, you know, fingerprint on it and, you know, just kind of wiped a little bit off. And it was, it looked like white mudder clay. Now, where I live, the clay is red because of, I.

That's weird. So I have no idea where that came from. I, my son lives next door, and it was late. You know, it was maybe 10 o'clock at night, and I called him up and said, you've got to come see this. So he came over. This handprint was bigger than my husbands, my sons, my own. It was, well, I don't know if you could see it.

I'm going to try to show you what I saw. And if you can send us a copy of a copy of it. we can put that up as well. Okay, so here's the rear view mirror. Let me see if I can get this position drive this way. Okay, I see the top of it. I saw something there and it went away. It went away,

but we will. It's too big. I'll post it. I'll send it to you and post it. Okay. I'll read this. Yeah, I see it. It's weird. It's weird. And then the white handprint it's and okay, so

when we looked at it. Here is this. I don't know if you can see. I go this. I can. Right? Yeah. It looks a little bit strange. Okay, there's the hand, right? And see the thumb, the position of the thumb? Yes. If you look closely around the wrist, I will enlarge that. It's hairy. There's hair all around the wrist. And you could see, oh, I can't get it. I'll send it to you so you can get a look at it. We will all have posted, and by this time, people will have seen it on the screen. Yeah, you could see the the palm prints, you could see the hair in the wrist. And it was just, I've never seen anything like it.

So the next day in the morning, we went back and we were looking at it. And there's a few more like fingerprints around the side of the car. And I took some clear contact paper, it was going to rain. And I wanted to try to preserve it. And I thought, this is not going to last. This is going to, you know, it was able to wipe it off with my finger. So I took clear contact paper and put it on it and I lifted the print. So I have the solid, I have the print collected, preserved inside clear contact papers.

So anybody who says, you know, that I made this on AI or something, I have the actual handprint sealed. You always bring the evidence. I mean, there's pictures of the Roadhouse Saloon. It exists. people, listeners have gone there. It is a real thing. I'm convinced this is a real thing as well. And those wilderness areas, they're so open to these kind of things.

And people forget, there's a lot of wilderness out there. So there's a lot of room for something to be roaming around. But I interrupted you. This is the Manist. Yeah, this is the Manistee National Forest. So it's huge. And actually, since I, you know, since this happened, my algorithm has shifted. and now I get different Sasquatch things.

And apparently there are other sightings in the area, other encounters in the area with this. Then we went and I tried to find the sound. I searched for all different owl calls, could not match it. And then my daughter sent me a YouTube or something of vocalizations of that were captured by Sasquatch vocalizations, you know, the old man in the forest. And there's one from Ontario that is identical to what we heard. And I can't find an owl that sounds like that.

But boy, oh boy, that vocalization that they sure sounds like it. So I think we had a visit from the old man in the forest. And my son said, you know, we weren't acting like humans. we weren't doing anything. We were just sitting very quietly, and we had brought muffins, and every time I go there, I bring some kind of treat. And he said, it was probably, you know, like the universal high five,

you know, just that we're here. Because it wasn't like if something was just had their hands up on the window to look in, it wouldn't be like that. It wouldn't, you'd have two hands. But this was like purposefully put there. crazy. Pretty cool, pretty cool. Another thing is pretty cool.

Now, she tells me that this story is about a mysterious island, which for somebody of my vintage, my age,

it reminds me of fantasy island. De plan, boss, de plain! You remember that, Jen Exers? You remember that? Well, I don't think that's exactly the story that Jen's going to tell us, but it is about an island. So here we go.

Jen, welcome back to the show and tell us about this mysterious island. My curiosity is peaked. Yeah, it's great to see you again. Anyway. Good to see you. So, yeah. So this is kind of like a spooky but funny story at the same time. So my family sails. We have a large sailboat and we sail off of the coast. And they have these. And this story takes place back in 2007. And back then we didn't have smartphones and things. And there were these books that they would publish called cruising guides.

Sure. And so because we had two kids who were about four and two, we would look at the cruising guide and see where to go and pick activities to do while we were there while we were sailing. So we found a spot and we were like, oh, that looks like a great place to spot to overnight. And so we do it and we grab a mooring there. and we hop on our dingy and go ashore and we go ashore and there's this dock and we go up to the dock and we're like disembarking from our little dingy and tying up and all this stuff and there are people on the island there's a great big white old-fashioned hotel kind of looking

building that just like overtakes the ramps game. This is sounding more and more like Fantasy Island go ahead. Go ahead. Yeah, but not as fancy. But anyway. But still like that Victorian picturesque kind of thing going on. And this woman walks down the dock and she says to us, she's like, she's like, welcome. Just so you know, we're not a cult. Okay. Now does protest too much. Yeah, go ahead.

Yes, exactly. And there's kids running around and there's families. We're like, oh, okay. And the cruising guide's like, hey, yeah, you can go. You can explore, wander. around whatever. So, so we did. And so we wandered around this island and, um, and as I said, it's like this big Victorian hotelish kind of like creaky floorboards, old camp kind of vibe, like uninsulated, like a place you'd lock down for winter and that sort of thing. And, um,

and so we walked through that, through one level of that. And then there was, um, then there were gardens where you could walk through and there was a wall that was built of hedge and there was like a doorway through it and we walked through the doorway and we in the four of us my my husband and I and our four-year-old and our two-year-old and there's this gigantic obelisk like sitting just standing there inside this tiny little garden and we walk around and like this is kind of interesting and odd and really, hmm, I don't know, but whatever. We're like, okay, this place is a little weird, but it's fine. And we go around.

And the kids are still running around and it has big fields and stuff. And we're getting ready to go, but not really. We're just kind of like hanging out because, you know, once you get back on the boat, you're kind of cooped up and stuff. And we had been sailing all day. And we just wanted the, we always called it getting the yawas out. So the kids are running around. And then I look and I notice and I see my older kid and she's picking up little, like little flowers out of the grass, you know, like little clover or like that type of thing.

And she's going over and she's found a cemetery and she's putting the flowers on a grave, my little four-year-old. And we walk up to her and we're like, hey, what are you doing? And she says, I think she would like these. Huh. And I'm like, oh, okay. And we just kind of like, we're like, okay. And kids are kids in supportive things. We never really talked about cemeteries before we never talked about, you know,

just didn't come up in conversation or whatever, four years old. And we're just like, okay, well, and we let them play for a while and wander around, and we go back to our boat. And that was our story. And we did some, we did some research on the island and found out more about it and found that it was, it was like a former, it had been a hotel like over a hundred years ago. but then it was owned by like a religious organization and had done all these types of things with like having group events and that sort of stuff. We're like, oh, okay, well, weird place, whatever, not a cult. Uh-huh. And so then I want to fast forward 10 years to 2017 when I'm watching ghost hunters and they were on the island

and they were investigating that place where we went and doing all the things and walking to all the places we went to. And we and my kids saw it and they were like, and they were like, oh my gosh, we were there. Wow. So it was, so we've been there and experienced some little things there. And it's, it's called Isla Shills in New Hampshire. And it is a spooky place. and you just go around and weird things happen. It was definitely spooky.

Would you go back again? Would you go back again? Yeah. Yeah, we weren't scared or anything by it. It was just like moderate. But would I spend a night like on the island? Probably not. Yeah.

All of a sudden, tattoo shows up out of nowhere, the ghost of Irvé Villages. But anyhow, thank you so much. Thank you so much for joining us and telling us your story. and I just think that's such a cool little spooky story, you know, kind of just kind of like, hmm, one of those things that make you go. Jen, thanks for being with us once again and being a part of the campbell. I don't know.

Stay spooky, Jim. Sean is on the line from the great state of Texas, and he has a story for us about his dad. Sean, welcome to the program. I know you've been listening for several years. I appreciate it. And thank you for sharing this very personal story. Tell us what happened. Oh, thanks for having me on, Jim.

So, 2022, my father unfortunately passed away due to several medical complications. He had some health issues. He had to be diagnosed with cancer, and then he caught COVID. You know, just... So, after that, about a... Me and my dad were very close. It was, you know, especially after his diagnosis, I was spending a lot of time helping him taking care of him,

all that stuff. And one thing about my dad is, you know, he was born in the mid-50s. He was part of that generation that he saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan Live. And like, every boy who saw that, he wanted to play the guitar. And unlike most of those boys, he kept playing his entire life.

As a matter of fact, I have a memorial tattoo, it's a headstock of his favorite guitar with his initials. So what it was, his hobby, though, was also was building guitars. Guitars, cooking, and woodworking were his major passions.

Those were things he'd just go on about forever. And so this stream, I had the first stream, and I know it wasn't a dream about him. Because you know when you have a dream that people are in there. Right. It was a dream with him.

So there's a place in Dallas called Charlie's Guitars, famous guitar shop. And my dad, when he would finish a build, he would take it over there to have them look it over. And I would go with them. So in the stream, we're in the car, and we're heading down towards Charlie's. And as it's going, I'm realizing things aren't meshing up. things aren't quite as clear. Everything, the environment's all distorted. I realized, well, no, this isn't actually happening.

The entire time, my dad's been going on about this guitar or that guitar. Just happily chatting along, and all of a sudden, he goes quiet. And the perspective shifts. And it's him, like how he usually like to sit in the bed, his t-shirt, shorts, bed watching TV. And then how he was what I last saw him in the hospital gown. He was intubated. you know, and we had to make the choice.

And so there's this duality, these two versions of him and the healthy version. He's just kind of, he looks at me, he's just got this sad smile like, you know, when you got to, you know, end the conversation or somewhat. Or, you know, a parting smile. He's like, you know, I'm sorry, Sean, but I got to go. And I just woke up. And so what had happened is several months later, my mom also had a lot of health issues. I had to help her sell the house that they had because it was a very big house they didn't need. She couldn't afford the mortgage.

She ended up having a stroke. I had to move in and help take care of her. So we got this much smaller house. And it was probably about three months after we moved in. This was like summer of 2023. And it's another one of these dreams where I'm in the kitchen. It's like one of those open kitchen, dining, living areas like that. And so I'm in the kitchen at the island doing dishes.

The table is over here and my mom's at the table. And my dad's kind of standing and kind of the center point of all this. And he's, you know, he's asking us how we're doing. You know, he's kind of poking, you know, fun of my mom, you know, just, you know, how couples are. they've been together for like 50 years. They just start ribbing each other. Yep. And I think it's kind of odd that he's asking these questions because, you know, well, he lives here, right?

And so the door rings, and I go over and I can check the doorbell. And some guy trying to drop off dry cleaning. I'm like, well, this makes no sense. We've never had to deliver dry cleaning. I'm like, no. So I walk back to the kitchen. I'm like, Mom, what's this about dry? And then it clicks again.

This isn't actually happening. Right. and it's him though and he's kind of like he's got that sad smile you kind of like you cut it off too soon kind of thing and um his nickname for me was shawnee he called me that my entire life and i realized that you know it was him this wasn't a dream with him. It was him. And Jim, I broke down.

Just sobbing. I rushed him. I ran my arms around him. And I was just... Sorry. I was just begging him. I'm like, please, don't leave us. And it was that same thing. He's just like, I'm sorry.

Very shodney. I got to go. And And yeah, and then I woke up. And I've been chasing that ever since. Every night I go to bed and I hope, you know, he comes back to see me again. And I'm guessing because I've heard these kind of dreams before. This was very realistic. I mean, eventually you realized it didn't add up, but it felt very real, didn't it?

Oh, yeah. It was as if, you know, the conversation was. having now. It was just, you know, I was doing dishes after we had dinner and we were just chatting, just like we would any other night, except the setting wasn't right, because he had never been to this house, because, you know, obviously. Right. He had been gone for several months already. So, well, first of all, I'm sorry for your loss, but also, you know, I do believe, I mean, again, I always say this, who am I? I'm just a guy who hosts a podcast. And I'm like the rest of us. I'm asking all these questions and I don't know the answers.

But just based on the amount of people I've talked to over the years and just their stories and the different signs they get, Sean, I really believe they're still around. I really do and I do think we will get to see them again. And I hope that's some small amount of consolation. And thank you so much for sharing this because I think it's important for other people who are going through these kinds of things. I think it's very important for them to hear these kind of messages from others. I know that they're not alone. They're going through grief. They're seeing the signs.

And tell us what happened. Oh, sure. Glad to be here. So this was last Labor Day weekend in 2025. And I really wanted to see the 50th anniversary exhibit of the movie Jaws. I love Jaws. And it's the last weekend. Yeah, the last weekend was Labor Day weekend on Martha's Vineyard at their museum on the aisle, right?

So I'm like, oh, I won't be able to go anyway. I got into doing research. I found that I can take a ferry from Bedford, Massachusetts, only three hours drive away. I have to get through early. But I went ahead and did that on Sunday of Labor Day weekend last year. So when I come home, I did it all one day. And then when I came home, I was able to still have a day to recover. I'm sorry, my cat was lucky.

Anyway, so I did that, and I had to go early, so I was a little-time, go out, but that quickly went away, and I found a ferry, it was a beautiful day, and, you know, the ferry flies really fast to the ocean, and there was my living, and I've never been to the theater. I'm living on the East Coast, but I'm living in California, it should be in lots places I haven't gone to. So I'm excited about seeing the draw's exhibit. I put my head in the mouth,

it's the shark and everything. You know, someone did the picture for me. You know, it was really fun. And it was an gorgeous day. I had this pain. I had this pain and go, perfect day. So I get on the ferry to go home and now it's dark, you know, and I was not tired, but I knew I could drive.

It wasn't so bad where I had to get in my towers. Right. But, you know, I thought the little, I didn't feel 100%, you know, when you're a little weary and, you know, sure. Sure. Sure. But, you know, anyway, so I got in my car and sorry to drive back and it's a dog of sports. So I have a Honda HRV, so it's kind of higher, you know, it's like a mini SUV.

Right. And I love my, it's only like two years old. I love my car. And so anyway, I'm driving along. And I have, what I'm sorry, not the AC, but, well, sort of AC, you know, going, it's clear, and I'm missing the podcast. The Vend, hello. Yeah. Sorry, I'm sorry to them, but.

But so anyway, I'm doing that. I'm doing fine. I'm listening to Funny Podcast. And then I switched to a spooky podcast. It wasn't one of yours, but it was a spooky podcast. and this woman, and I'm on a free lane, right, three lanes or whatever, two lanes. And this woman said, she wanted, you know,

a random person died and she wanted to, you know, hear from him or she was thinking about him and wanted to sign or something. And then she said, and I didn't realize that was a bad thing to do. And I'm thinking, really? I had never heard that before. So I'm a little tweaky, like, where did she? You know, getting in a little attitude bone.

anyway so then and she had taken a dummy or something so she wanted a substance so I'm just thinking what is this girl

thinking you know I'm judging right so then she said I accidentally tapped into a forest of demons I could hear them

and you know it was dangerous or whatever and she had to try to pray and I'm thinking I actually said it out loud you know sometimes I'm tired I had a great day

and I don't know I'm like oh my God stupid why was just so stupid I don't why don't you do that you're on a substance and then he was trying to

you know reach out but I was just again tired and doubling and everything and I was thought oh that was so stupid you know really like up and up and you're left so then I have to change lanes

to my mind and again it's dark and I always look over my shoulder and I look over my shoulder to change lanes and just partly any track And in that seat on the passenger side, it looks darker than the rest of the inside of the inside of the problem.

So I came and I looked out the front, you know, and I'm like, that was weird. So I looked back again because I knew something wasn't right. I looked back again and there was a woman sitting in the passenger side with, and she was just sitting there. Jim, she didn't move. If she had moved, I might not be singing with it. But anyway, she didn't move. But I could see the black lace. If anyone saw the movie of the Cormo, the Jordan Seal movie,

the woman in the yard, I saw it see it. I might just see it to kind of tear it. And I have a tag for this, too. I got some insight for this. But anyway, so she's just sitting there. and wearing a black dress. I didn't see the dress, but this black lace like shawl or whatever that covers your whole head and your whole body.

And I think your arms were like this. And I mean, it was Thursday, Thursday. And I'm sorry, this is going to be very about that. But my reaction, because I immediately knew what was going on, They were saying, hey girl, you know, you have to have some respect for us, too. There's yin and yang. There's dark and light. Right.

So I just went, I threw up my arm and I just said, great. That's just great. Yeah, thanks. That's great. Now, I did feel a ton of fear. I did. I was like really scared. But I was like, at the same time, I'm like, oh, thanks guys.

All right. All right. Again, again. You know. So my sister. and some friends of mine said, when I got to that part of the story, they said,

Starra, I would have been doing that too. I don't care if you move or what. They can't believe that I got through. Anyway, so I did immediately, though, I'm like, okay, I need to do something. I prayed, and I saw Archangel Michael in my backseat,

bullet with light, love, you know, my angel, whoever's any of it. You know, and after a moment, moment, I looked back and it was that. Wow. Yeah, that is

that would be frightening. I mean, to your point, you said, you know, good thing it didn't move. I mean, you wonder if people have seen things like that and it's actually caused them to have accidents. Yeah. You know, the one fear that I have, I have a, I won't even mention who it is, but I have a family member who is deathly afraid of spite of spite.

And I'm afraid they'll be driving and someday like, because I've had it happen. You know, you're driving. All of a sudden, this like weird bug comes in front of you. And it freaks me out, but not enough to like wreck the car. But I'm terrified this person will, will see a spider like, you know, on their windshield or something. And they totally lose it. So, I mean, to the same point, you see a ghostly passenger, you know, who's kind of ominous looking. I mean, it would be enough to make you wreck.

right and you know what's really creepy is that when I first started seeing a previous for that movie and I was going to see it I just for some reason I don't know about fast I was getting I got scared when they showed her like she sits in

the yard in a chair and then she gets closer and closer to the house and then gets into the house and it's an evil entity of some sort you know and the the inhabitants of the house, but someone who just passed away and they're tormented and said. So it did scare me.

And so they pulled that from my mind, because why would that be the thing that was chosen? That's interesting. I know, isn't that good? But a friend of mine who's a spiritual advisor and intuitive, I had a session with her recently, and I brought this up. I said, you won't believe what happened, blah, blah.

up. As she said, well, Starra, you already know what this is. They were saying, you have to respect the dark side. And she said, but you, I guess what else she told me then? She said, but you, you know, brought in the light and we were very strong and brought in the light. And so that's never going to happen. And as long as I keep myself, you know, don't pour down on drugs and get into the governor and ask for the double or something like this. keep myself in the way I amiss. And I said, oh, that's nice to know. Don't want to mess with that dark side. Well, Starra, thank you so much as always. I appreciate it. Always appreciate your stories and all your support and your, just good nature, just good nature.

And stay spooky. You do it. I'll do my best. I'll do my best. Stay true. Next up on the campfire is Jackson from Maryland. He's been listening for about three years. And, well, he's going to tell us about somewhere he lived that apparently seemed to be quite haunted and can't wait to hear this story.

Jackson, thank you for joining us today. I appreciate it. And please tell us what happened. Of course. So what happened was I spent a semester abroad last year in England. And the dorm I lived in had a sort of creepy vibe to it. But for a while, there wasn't anything I could really put my finger on that was necessarily wrong. But occasionally, the lights would sort of flash on their own, stuff like that.

But the main thing that happened to me was there was one night that I was just having a lot of trouble sleeping. And it was around three or four in the morning. And I woke up and I looked at the door. And in the doorway, there was a sort of shadowy figure. and my first thought was somebody's broken into my room and I was very scared and I sort of jumped out of my bed

and this figure started coming towards me and I tried to kick it and as I tried to kick it the figure just disappeared so it really freaked me out I couldn't sleep the rest of the night I was sort of just sat there like what's going on.

Right. And so other times where I would see sort of this shadow out of the corner of my eye. But yeah, I guess that's the story is I saw this shadow figure and I tried to kick it. Now, was there anything else that happened in that dorm that would make you think it was haunted? Or was it just kind of a one-off? I mean, although it's pretty dramatic. I mean, this weird shadowy figure. Yeah, but was that the only thing that happened or were there other things?

No, so there were lights. And I make this distinction. There are four lights all connected to one switch. And for some reason, there was one light out of the four that in the middle of the night would turn itself on at times. Huh. And for a while, I tried to sort of rationalize it as, oh, it might be. just be faulty wiring, I guess. Right.

But then, especially after the sort of shadow incident, I started rethinking like, oh, you know what? Weird stuff has been going on in this room since I've been here. And maybe I missed it, but the building it was in, what do you know about the history? Because there's a lot of old stuff over there. As opposed to here, we're basically in comparison, everything's relatively new. What did you know about the building, the history of the building? or did you know anything about it? I know very little.

I know that it was a manner at one point, and it was over 100 years old. But I did try to look into whether anybody else has sort of experienced anything weird there. And I kind of came up empty-handed. There you go. Well, I mean, that's the thing, is that people think, like, for a campfire story,

it has to be something that goes on for weeks, months, years, those kind of things. but it could just be one of these things that happened is just like what in the world was that and obviously you weren't dreaming you were awake when this happened yeah because that was my first thought was either it's a dream or sleep paralysis

or something like that but I was awake I could move I could do things well I'll tell you there are weird things I got to say again over in England when I went there several years ago I was just as they would say gobsmacked with how old everything was

and you could just like, I mean, I don't know about you. I'm sure that when you were over there, you went to some of the historic sites and things. You could just feel it. Oh, yeah. There was like a, I don't know, like a sense. And I thought, well, maybe it's psychological because I do these shows and I'm kind of thinking this way. But you could just feel it when we went to Stonehenge, Tower of London, you know, all these different places. You just felt Westminster Abbey.

You just felt something to me. me, I felt it. I felt as though there was a presence there. There was a, not a heaviness, I want to say, but you just felt that there was an energy there. There was an energy there. Well, Jackson, yeah, it's one of those things. I have a feeling many years from now, you know, you'll still be wondering, what in the world was that? It's just one of those open-ended questions, as I often say, some of the most interesting campfire stories end with a question mark, not a period. Jackson, thanks for being on the show today and stay spooky. Of course, stay spooky.
