A haunted wedding night and much more on this Halloween edition of Jim Harold's Campfire.
Sit back, relax, and warm yourself by Jim Harold's Campfire.
Congratulations are in order for Sabrina.
You see her there on your screen and her husband Matt.
They're celebrating their ninth wedding anniversary today.
Their ninth wedding anniversary as we record this by the time you see it will have passed, obviously.
but Matt actually told Sabrina about this show, so thank you, Matt, and a big stay spooky.
And they've been listening since 2015.
Wow, wow, that's dedication.
We appreciate both of you.
And what's cool about it, it's all very kind of serendipitous because this is your anniversary.
And this is a story about the night of your wedding and, well, some strange happenings, some haunted happenings.
So tell us what happened and welcome to the show, Sabrina.
Thanks, Jim.
Of course.
So we got married in New Orleans and Jackson Square.
And one of the really important things to me, because all of my grandparents had passed at this time, was to have something from each of them at the wedding.
And for my grandmother, Charlotte, that was a rosary.
And the plan was to have it wrapped around my bouquet and to walk down the aisle with that.
But unfortunately, once everything got going, we could not find it.
And my mother told me that I must have left it at home, but I knew that I had it.
But I wasn't about to be late to my own wedding.
So I decided that I would decide, I'd find it later and I'd walk down the aisle.
Everything else went really well.
And later on that night in the hotel room, I was asleep and I just woke in a total panic.
I started looking around the room.
I couldn't figure out.
I thought maybe like I had a nightmare.
I couldn't figure out what was wrong.
And as I'm looking around the room, up in the TV in the corner, there are these blue hands
in arms.
Yikes.
Reaching out at me.
Like, it looked like the ring.
I can't, like, describe it anywhere.
I don't know I just age myself.
But that's what that looked like.
And I'm just kind of frozen with fear because I have no idea what's going on.
And my husband is right next to me.
And I'm trying to wake him up, but I'm trying not to take my eyes off of whatever I'm
seeing.
And so I'm, like, kind of tapping him, like, wake up, wake up, wake up.
And he just doesn't.
And finally, I get the courage, just look at him.
And I'm like, I shake him.
And I'm like, hey, there's a ghost.
And he, yeah, but he is out.
And when my husband is out, like when my husband is asleep,
like I've had whole conversations with this man and he does not remember them in the morning.
And so he literally, he just like, yeah, he just looks at me and goes, that's cool, honey.
And just right back to him.
late. And so at that point, I look back up for a TV screen that's up in the corner and it's gone.
And I'm just totally freaked out. My husband is not waking up. And so I decide that like I can't be in the room.
I need to go downstairs to my mom's room and I need to tell her about it because it's, I know it's like midnight at the time.
But I know she's going to be awake. She's a night out just like me. And so I go down there and I knock
on the door and I'm a little freaked out because I realize I'm in a haunted hotel and I just
like rode the elevator and I'm all about myself in a hallway and I'm like, what am I thinking?
And so I start patting on the door. So I'm like, wait, what am I doing? And just no one answers.
And my mom's a really big smoker. And so I realized that she's probably downstairs smoking.
And so I go down to the lobby and I go out and I walk out. And I walk out.
outside and I'm at the Bourbon Orleans and that hotel if you've ever been there, it's literally a
block from Bourbon Street. You can see the partying. And I look at the doorman because we had our
wedding reception there and I look at them and I'm like, have you seen my mom? And he looks at me like I'm
completely crazy. And I realize I'm standing there in my pajamas. I don't even know if I was
wearing shoes. My hair is a miss. And I'm asking the doorman if I,
if he seen my mom.
Have you seen my money?
Yeah, yeah.
On my wedding night.
It's just a comedy of airs.
And so I just, I realize this is, I get embarrassed.
So I'm just like, okay, we have to put our big girl pants on.
And we need to go to bed.
So go back up there.
Nothing else happens.
And then the next morning, I knock on my mom's door.
And I, she opens up the door.
and I'm about to tell her like, I got haunted.
But she goes, B, that's what she calls me.
B, we got haunted.
And I'm just like, wait, what?
You got haunted too?
And she's like, what, you did too?
And we get so excited.
And she's like, tell me your story.
But I didn't want to influence her.
So I'm like, no, you go first.
So my mom was sharing a room.
My mom and dad were sharing a room with my aunt, so a double room.
and in their room there was a balcony and the door had shutters and they were about to fall asleep
and my mom looks up and my aunt is standing at the balcony at the shutters and she's just
opening them and closing them huh and so my mom goes what are you doing and my aunt from the bed
she's in goes, I'm trying to sleep. And at this point, my mom realizes that she's looking at
something, some woman in a blue nightgown. That's what I'm sorry, I wrote this down, a woman in a blue
nightgown with long blonde hair. And she just completely freaks out. So she does. So it wasn't,
it wasn't your aunt. No, my aunt was in bed. So my aunt. So my aunt was in bed. So my aunt,
answered from the bed. And that's what my mom realized, that's not Lirinda. And so my mom freaks out.
And I guess I took a page from her book when I whacked, like tried to like get my husband to wake up.
But she just straight up like scrambles backwards off the bed, pushes my dad off the bed. So he wakes up and is just, what is happening?
Because he's falling out the bed. And then as soon as my mom like gets to the
edge, she realizes I just left my sister to like fight a ghost or fight this person. And so my mom then
lunges forward, turns out the light. They both look over. My aunt's like, what is your problem?
Nothing. So my mom freaks out and it's just like, I need to, I need to go smoke. I need to go
downstairs. I need to get a cigarette. They go downstairs. And as they're walking around,
they see the room that the bridal party was getting ready in.
And they see my dress bag.
And they realized that they had left it there.
And the staff was there cleaning everything up, throwing everything away because that's what we told them to do.
And my mom goes, oh, no, we should, we should grab the bag.
Sabrina will probably want the bag.
And they get the bag.
And when they lift it up, it kind of swings and like hits her.
And she opens it up and she looks down inside of.
bit and there's the rosary.
Oh.
Yeah.
And so if she hadn't been freaked out and she hadn't been walking around, she wouldn't have seen, she wouldn't have seen them about to throw it away and we would have lost my grandmother's rosary.
Wow.
And so, yeah.
after she told her story, we realized that the time synced up.
When I was banging on her door, like, freaking out because something happened to me,
she was downstairs finding the rosary.
And when I was downstairs looking for her, they were like at another part, but she was only gone for 15 minutes.
So we pretty much had this happen at the same time.
So do you think the ghost was put there to get one or both of you down there to save that rosary?
I do. The timing overlaps. My mom swears up and down that she thinks it was my grandmother Charlotte.
Except for my grandmother Charlotte didn't have long blonde hair, but I don't know.
but the hotel that Ribbon Orleans used to be a convent, Catholic convent.
And so I kind of think that maybe it was a ghost, like a nice ghost, trying to make sure that my grandmother's favorite rosary because she was very religious wasn't thrown away.
Very, very cool. That is an awesome story. That is a that is a, that is a,
awesome story. Now, I always ask people this, you know, when they're in a haunted hotel or something like that or a haunted Airbnb, would you go back? Would you go back to that hotel?
Yes. We have went back multiple times and we'd been there multiple times before and this is just the only time anything ever happened.
And it had a happy ending. It had a good, good ending. Good stuff. Good stuff. Well, Sabrina, I love it. I think it is a great story.
It's an awesome story.
Thanks to you.
Thanks to Matt.
Happy anniversary, and I'll say to you both,
stay speaking.

So we hope to see you at all of those things.
And now we hope you'll stick
around to hear some great campfire stories. You know, when kids tell us different things, we
sometimes as adults, we think, oh, overactive imagination, you know, they're just, you know,
they're just having flights of fancy, that kind of thing. But sometimes out of the mouths of
babes come some real wisdom, particularly when it has to do with the supernatural and the
paranormal. And we have somebody today who was going to tell us about just such a
experience. Mary, I know you've been listening for a while and you enjoy this show. I thank you so
much. Tell us what happened. Okay. Well, a number of years ago, back actually in 1998,
I had, after a really difficult divorce, become a single mom with two young kids. It's not an unusual
event. We serendipitously ended up in this wonderful neighborhood and renting a cottage.
I really wanted to stay in the neighborhood. The kids were making friends. They were about the ages
of seven and nine at the time. My son was seven, daughter was nine. And they were really,
they love this neighborhood. It was a great school system. I really wanted to stay there.
but money was a definite concern.
I was on the verge of bankruptcy following this divorce.
So when one of the neighbors mentioned that a house, just a few doors down from her,
which had been a rental, was up for sale.
I worked on my years.
It was a ranch, three bedroom.
It was just the right size.
And she said she thought it was really a good affordable price.
It was a fixer-upper for sure.
And so I went and looked at it.
And to give you some idea about this house, it was on a triple lot.
And in this neighborhood at this time, a lot, a single lot was about $40,000.
That should have been assigned to me because the whole thing, house included, was for sale for $80,000.
Oh.
Ding, ding, ding, ding.
But I was like, I can do this.
I can do this.
So we moved in.
And we were really happy. It was a fixer-upper. The neighborhood came together. It didn't even have a functioning bathroom at the time. And they helped, you know, make it a livable space for us. And shortly after we moved in, we adopted a rescue dog. And she was a mutt. But this dog plays into this story. So I'm going to give a brief description of her. She was a,
a perkyered dog, obviously a shepherd, medium size, about 40, 45 pounds.
And we're pretty certain she had some Rhodesian Ridgeback in her because whenever she became
excited about something, she didn't just get her hackles up. She had like a full mohawk from nose to
tail. It was distinctive. She was quite courageous. So there wasn't much that intimidated her.
She was great. She was great with the kids.
And so we moved into the house, we got the dog, and I'm a single mom working.
So one night I had been up late.
I was a teacher grading papers.
And so often happens when you're in that situation, when I finally did get to bed, I was exhausted and I couldn't get to sleep.
And so I was just on the verge of going to sleep when I heard the mom alarm.
go off.
Everybody who's a parent knows what the mom alarm is.
The mom alarm is when a child starts to go, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom.
And you know the mom alarm is not going to get turned off until you respond.
So after some back and forth initially, this is my son who set off the mom alarm.
I finally, very reluctantly, dragged my mom self out of bed and went down to his room and said,
oh, what's going on?
What's up?
And he said, Mom, there's something in the house.
And I said, no, no, the dog would be barking if there were something in the house.
There's nothing in the house.
Go back to sleep.
We're fine.
Mom, there's really something in the house.
So I, knowing.
that this is not going to end until I check out the whole house, I said, okay, fine. And I was very annoyed and very exasperated and very, er, I want to go back to. Yeah, I know. I know. I'm in no mood for a ghost. Right. And so I go into the hallway and I turn on the light and said, there's nothing in the hallway. And to the bathroom, there's nothing in the bathroom. There's nothing in the dining room, nothing in the living room, nothing in the front room. Go back to sleep. And,
entire time I'm going around the house, the dog was attached to the hip. And she's going,
tick, tick, tick, tick, with her little toenails going with me from every room, you know,
to the next. So I go back. I say, there's nothing in the house, go back to sleep. But he goes,
did you check the basement? So I went, fine, I'll go check the basement. This was a classic.
This is a classic 1950s house with a cinder block basement and a cement floor.
The unusual thing about the house is that it actually had a full basement because we were very close to a large body of water.
And most of the houses in that area didn't have that sort of thing.
So this was a great basement.
It was a boon for a storage space in this one large room was like the playroom for the kids.
and so I but the way it was laid out was that you get down at the bottom of the stairs there was a
laundry and utilities and then straight up ahead there was a doorway and a large room that was just
empty and that had become the kids's playroom so I go do do do down the stairs with the dog
and I turn on the light in the laundry room there's nothing in the laundry room and I'm heading
towards that big room when suddenly I stopped because something stopped me.
And I looked down and all of the hair on my arm has gone up and I can feel the hair on the nape of my neck is up.
And I looked at that room and then I looked down.
and the dog is no longer next to me.
I look back.
She's behind me at the base of the stairs, full Mohawk, full Mohawk.
And she's glaring into that great room going,
and I turned around and I took a big step back towards my dog
and said, there is nothing in the basement.
And then I turn around, I ran back to the stairs with the dog.
And I go back to Jake and I said, there's nothing in the basement.
And he said, can I stay with you?
I said, yes, absolutely.
Yeah, because there was something in the basement.
So the next day, I, you know, the sober light of day, I go back downstairs with the dog and it's all fine.
She goes with me.
And all of the windows are sealed.
there was no sign of anything having come into that space,
no sign of any way anything could have gotten in there.
And the thing is that if it had been an animal,
like a raccoon or a possum or something like that,
the dog would have gone after it.
She had a very high prey drive.
So I didn't know what that was.
But the next day after that, that was really disconcerting.
I was talking to a neighbor of mine, and she said, well, you know about your house, right?
And I went, what?
What about my house?
And she says, well, you know, when they were building it and they did that full basement,
they found all these bones and arrowheads.
And the legend is that there was a really large battle between two Native American tribes on your property.
And it started when one member of the tribe who was ambushed there had betrayed the tribe with another tribe.
And just in the middle of a ceremony, just as the chief of the tribe that was there had raised his arms and was making an invocation of some kind, an arrow had come out of the woods and pierced him through the throat, impaling him.
on the beach tree in our front yard.
Wow.
And at the end of the battle, the warrior who had done that, he was dead at his feet.
And supposedly they were buried just across the, they were on a dirt road.
They were buried just across the dirt road down there somewhere.
But they had found all these bones.
They'd found all these arrowheads.
There had been stories about apparently the house having something passing through.
it on a regular basis. And I think that's maybe what it was. My neighbor was also part Native American.
She offered to smudge the house, which was great. And I said, yes, please. I don't smudge all you want.
And she did. And we didn't have anything happen for a while, but we were there were there for almost 20 years.
It was a great house, but there were definitely times when Phoebe would,
that was the dog, she would stop.
She wouldn't go in the basement.
She would growl at a corner.
She would growl at certain places.
And my son also and daughter later as well.
She slept quietly through that night,
but they both said there were times when there was just something weird.
There was something going on.
You know, and that's, I mean, that's super,
that's about as creepy as you can get in the middle of the night,
going into the basement.
And there's like, there's nothing there.
There's something there.
There's something there.
Wow. Wow. What a great story. And you do a very good job of telling it.
So obviously, this is, I don't know how interested you were in the paranormal before, but you're obviously interested now.
So always interested to seek more answers, I'm assuming.
Yes, always. I still think that what was happening in that house, it was a, it was a, it was a, it was a, it was a, it would like literally roll through like a fog.
you could feel something rolling through the house, something moving.
Mary, thank you for joining us and stay spooky.
Thank you.
Thank you.
And you stay spooky too.
Thank you, Jim.
Oh, this is one.
Jazz from California tells us maybe this one will give us the chills.
I bet it does.
But first of all, we want to give a big stay spooky and a thank you to Walker
who told Jazz a couple years ago about the show.
and she's been listening ever since,
and she's now here as a story tell us.
So thank you, Walker, and stay spooky.
Jazz, so good to meet you.
Thank you for taking time.
Tell us what happened.
Great to meet you, too.
It's been a long time now.
I think this was back in the 1997 that this happened.
I had a bit of a sleepwalking problem.
It started when I was four.
and it got pretty bad as I was growing up.
It escalated.
And, yeah, have a little bit of a story to share with you about an unorthodox way of how my family thought it would be a good idea to fix it.
So, yeah, as a little kid, I had been sleepwalking and had been, you know, innocuous until the point where I ended up
sleepwalking through the house, opening the front door, walking out into the street.
Yikes.
Yeah.
And it got pretty heroin.
My family thought, you know, this is a, and, you know, I am a Latina.
I come from a culture that is steeped in, you know, I mean, for some and others,
very religious, some are very paranormal.
I have a family that has a lot of practitioners, healers, what we call hudanderas.
So we went on a trip when I was around seven to Pankhamo, Guantuato.
Guantanato is a state in Mexico, and Panko is just a very small little rural town.
Some of it's not even paved yet.
People live amongst the hills and when my father grew up.
So I had some family there and we took a trip.
I did not know exactly whether or not the trip was specifically for this issue.
So I talked to my mom a little bit about it.
She ended up filling in some gaps from me because like I said, I was very young.
I was just seven years old.
And so we went.
It was definitely a trip just to visit family and get.
to know the area is my first time in San Amos, and I got to ride a donkey, I got to hang out with my,
you know, with my cousins. It was all very good, fun and game. But one day, closer to dust,
I was ushered into a room, and there was my great aunt and a couple of her cousins,
my mom, and I was putting some very heavy swim.
And I was put in a bed and I was wrapped in white cloth.
Huh.
Yeah.
And I, you know, and then they started to this ritual.
The ritual was, you know, nothing that I've ever done before, something my mom says she's never heard her or done before.
but they lit some candles
and they started chanting
Jasmine or in Spanish it
has mean
Puntae at your spiritu
Puntae at your spirit
In English this translates to
Connect with your spirit
Connect with your soul
Join your soul
join your spirit
and at that time
I was under a blanket
I did not know exactly what was going on
it's all I can hear
and
but my mom told me recently
they had a very
they had an urb
she thinks it's an earth called
it's called ru in English
and they were casting the herb over my body
as they were chanted
Huh.
This is going on for hours, maybe two to three hours,
until I fell asleep.
I fell asleep during the Ridgeville.
So I couldn't tell you anything else that happened until I woke up in the middle of the night.
And I woke up in ditch darkness.
I was in a room that I was in before.
Just to describe a little bit the room.
It was the second floor of a two-story house.
I had a balcony at that time to the right of me.
The bathroom was on the bottom floor outside.
This was how rural this community in this house was.
The bathroom was outside.
And I had, so I woke up to go to the rest.
And I went downstairs and I went outside and I did what I needed to do.
It came back up.
Again, all in pitch black.
When I went back into the room, I walked, I, you know, had this kind of, I sensed something
was outside or going on outside.
Maybe I heard a noise and I walked out through the balcony door.
And as I was standing in the balcony, I, you know,
nobody's out there as far as I knew.
It was very early in the morning or late at night.
It was still dark.
I look around the street and I see one street lamp, you know,
illuminating cobblestone street.
And there's a figure standing under the line.
What I consider to be just a man, a gentleman
in a
one of those
kind of
camel-colored
trench coats
wearing a hat
but it's like
a cowboy
hat
you know
like a Mexican
techano
and
and at first
I didn't make
much of it
this guy
following
drawing a figure
or something
but I was
drawn to
him or them
and when I
paid more
attention
and I look more
closely, I realized that
these feet were not normal.
He had one
cloven foot and one
booster clubbed foot.
Oh my.
I didn't know what I
didn't know what to expect, but it was not that. And at that
moment, off in the hill, out in the distance,
I see lightning strike a tree, a giant tree.
Giant bolt of lightning just kind of shook me out of it and it struck this tree and I startled me.
But I also think it kind of shook me out of whatever kind of trans I was in.
And that's when I backed off and went back and went back.
in my room and essentially went back to bed, although to be honest, I can't remember going back
to bed.
Like, I can't remember that of the actual action of walking into the bed and putting the
covers on and going back to sleep.
But I do remember the tree and the man.
And I never slept once ever since.
Wow.
Wow. You know, so the sleepwalking, do you think that the sleepwalking was cured by this ceremony? Do you think it was a coincidence?
Or do you think that it was a one-to-one correlation that, you know, you did this thing and whatever it was, it cleared it up and that was it? What do you think?
I grew up basically thinking this is 100% how it cured me because I didn't have the problem
of sleepwalking after that.
Once we got back to the States, I never sleepwalked again.
And if you asked my mom, it definitely was a correlation.
That's what cured me.
And if you ask my friend, it was more probably like an exorcism.
And I got cured that.
So do you think that that weird figure with the rooster foot, do you think that was something that had been cast out of you?
I mean, to be honest, it could have been something that was plaguing me or if not in me, it was somehow beckoning my spirit out of me.
or and and frankly I think there's a lot of I just very recently in the last few years
started to delve into more of the paranormal and the spiritual and the connection that our bodies
and our consciousness and even listening to your show Jim I think I had I think sleepwalking
has a lot to do with pastoral projections.
And when your spirit kind of leaves your body, you're open and susceptible to other
kind of entities being attracted to you and attracted to that.
Maybe they have something to do with, you know, following soul in and out of this realm.
So I think it was something that was trying to hijack or piggyback off of my travel.
And so the spiritual ritual was more kind of like closing me off to that realm and tying my soul to my body so that I can't project it anymore.
And I can't go into like the spectral world anymore.
And that way I don't sleepwalk, but I also am not open to kind of getting a hitchhiker.
That's what I think.
Well, what a great story, Jazz.
And the thing is, is that, you know, as long as we've been doing this show, we've never
had a story like that.
And I love that about the campfire.
And also, I want to say a big thank you to Walker.
Again, that's how it works, folks.
You tell a friend, they become a listener, then they become a storyteller.
And then we hear a story, unlike any, we've ever heard, a fascinating story.
and jazz i should say this we're recording this in september it's going to air Halloween week in
october but i understand today as we record this it's your birthday so happy birthday
thank you it's it's really exciting to be on the show on my birthday and that oh one other thing
you told me that entity that you saw you did a little bit of research and you had a little more
information on that right yes yes um i did
Look it up before I got on the show, and that entity apparently has been a staple in Mexican folklore.
It's with people in Mexico and across the southern United States.
Call it it is the Chamucco, which is another word for the devil.
Yikes.
Ooh, see, you just gave me chills.
You said that we give us chills, and it did.
Jazz, thank you again. Happy birthday and stay spooky.
You too, Jim, stay spooky.
Next up on the campfire is Stefan from the United Kingdom.
And I was telling him I love the fact that we have people listening over in the UK and all over the world to the shows.
It's so cool. And especially when they bring it story like the one we're about to hear.
But first, credit where credit is due, Jessica, Stefan's partner told him about the show.
In fact, he plays it while they're motoring about, and kind of got him hooked on it.
So way to go, Jessica.
That's the way to do it.
Be like Jessica.
Subject your loved one to the campfire at each and every opportunity, especially when they have no easy out.
You know, you're going, you know, 40 kilometers down the road per hour or down the road.
Stephen can't jump out, so he's got to listen.
And now he's hooked.
And now he's telling stories.
But in all seriousness, thank you, Jessica, and stay spooky.
Seven, thank you for joining us.
I love this story.
I'm not going to spoil it.
Tell us what happened.
Okay.
So this is probably about 10, 11 years ago.
Me and my friend, Acorn, were really into ghost hunting at the time.
So about this abandoned R.EF base out in Norfolk.
which is RF West Rainham
it was built in World War II
and I think it was abandoned
in 1990 so it's basically been derelict
for about 20 years
at the point we go there
because we haven't been there before
we decided we're going to get there a bit early
to scout it out
so we're there probably about
half eight something like that
you have to drive down this long road
there's a big sort of housing estate at the end
which would have been I guess it was the RIF housing
which was sort of being converted into
private housing
So we park up there and we decide to just leave our equipment in the car and we're walking back up the road we came in trying to find if there's a way through the fence that basically we can get into the airbase.
So there's this building about part way up there which I would guess is probably like a security checkpoint.
It had that sort of feel to it.
So it's sort of half brick and then windows all the way around.
So both sides have got windows over around to see up both ends of the street and there's kind of a middle bit.
which is solid brick where the door is.
And as we pass it, there's a Christmas party going on.
There's maybe 15-ish to 20 people in there.
It's got a Christmas tree.
It's got decorations everywhere.
It's got Christmas lights up.
There's like buffet table.
People are standing around talking and I've got drinks.
So it's like the party is kind of in full swing.
And it's on both sides of the building.
So as we walk past it, we see all the bats all lit up.
we walk down the road
there's no real way in
we turn left at the end
and we sort of walk up there a bit
but ultimately we don't really find a way
in through the fence so
we decide we're going to head back to the car
there's another building we'd seem that we
thought we could try out so we thought we'd do that
so we're then walking back down the street
we've probably been about
about half an hour or so
we get to that building
and the lights are off.
There's nobody there.
We look through the windows.
There's just nothing there.
There's no decorations.
There's no furniture.
The building's not like derelict at all,
but it is abandoned.
We have no sense of what was sort of in that building at the time.
We don't see anybody either because there's only really this one street.
So it's not like we have seen people
walking up or down.
There's no, it wasn't really many cars
but it's not like people have dripping away.
We walk all the way back to the car.
We don't really see anybody.
The housing estate seems fairly quiet.
We end up blocking ourselves in the car,
having a sort of bit of a mini freak out.
We decide we're going to sort of head back out
and sort of re-check it again.
To we walk up to it, we check it again.
There's definitely nothing there.
we do ultimately decide we're going to check out this other building which is just kind of a right-hand turn
a small little lane it's the officer's mess hall so we go over to that and that's that's very
derelict the only way in there's going to be through like a broken glass window which still has
a broken glass in the window so we decide actually maybe we've just had enough so as we turn around
we're walking back to that main road and we're now sort of side onto the building and we see
because there's some streetlights we see like there's kind of a person and the
right-hand side as we're looking at it we can see them on the glass they then walk past the
middle where it's brick and we can't see and then they never come out to the left and side they
don't leave the building we stand we wait there's nobody there we have to walk past this building
again unfortunately to get back to the car so we we do have to walk past it we can't see anybody
in there I mean
it's possible by just standing in that Brook Park we can't see.
But if they are, they're standing there in the dark in what's effectively an abandoned building.
Now, let me ask you this, what time, and maybe you said this, maybe I missed it.
Was it Christmas time?
Was it the Christmas season when this happened?
Yes.
I don't know exactly when it was.
It must have been December time.
It didn't seem weird to us at all that there was a Christmas party going on.
And was there anything, I mean, obviously you were some distance from the building, so probably not.
But obviously what Christmas parties look like, holiday parties look like, has changed over the years.
Nothing in particular that would date it or were the people wearing modern clothes or could you tell or you were far enough away that you couldn't get that level of detail?
We bought it all seemed fairly normal.
So everybody must have seemed in reasonable sort of modern clothes.
It's not like people were in sort of army uniforms or like RIF uniforms or anything like that.
their own normal clothes.
Yeah.
But, I mean, if it were the difference between something from the 1980s and the 2010s,
it wouldn't have been that maybe dramatic from a distance.
So what do you speculate it was?
Do you think you simply saw back in time?
Did you see, do you think you saw a time slip?
Do you think you saw an alternate reality?
Do you really have no theory about it?
What do you think?
Yeah, it's a weird one.
because the party itself just sort of disappearing, you know, it's, we spent so much time going,
did people just pack this up? It's like, it would be weird if maybe we just happened to be
passing it at the point of which the party was winding down and for whatever reason they
decided they were going to pack up all of their decorations and strip the building out.
But it just doesn't seem likely that happened.
Yeah, that, that seems unlikely, doesn't it?
So maybe it was just something, I think our best fear is that it was a part.
that had happened maybe in the past and we were witnessing it.
Maybe we just happened to be catching it at a right time when that party had happened previously.
Yeah, time is an odd thing.
You know, they said that time does not exist as we conceptualize it.
As we think about it, it's not linear.
So that opens the – there's a famous – and you would probably know it better than I do
because it's over in the UK, but supposedly there was a street in liberal.
pool where people
walked, you know, suddenly
for some people they saw it as though
it was the 1960s and
they walked into a shop and it
looked like, and I hope I'm getting the story
right, the gist of it was they walked on the
shop, it looked like the 1960s,
they walked back out, it
looked like the modern day. Have you heard that
one? Yes, I have, yes.
Yeah, I think you are
are right there. They went into a shop.
Right, right.
So, I mean, who's to say
that there aren't these little nooks and crannings that we can pass through,
and maybe we do see the past for a short amount of time,
I wouldn't rule it out, and it sounds like that's exactly what happened to you,
exactly what happened to you.
Steffen, I really enjoyed that story.
Now the question is, did you go back to the base again?
Or was that enough for you?
Did that put you guys off?
That did put us off.
It's funny.
Obviously, when you're doing a lot of ghost hunting, you're going to have weird things
happen to you.
You're sort of asking for it.
Yes, we're on the go, but we weren't asking for that, if you know what I mean.
Well, what they say, be careful what you wish for.
It may very well come true.
And thank you and thank Jessica for being part of the program and stay spooky.
Thanks, Jim.
Next up on the campfire is David from North Carolina.
Now, he's a relatively new listener, been listening about a year more so.
He said he asked, well, I don't want to say the name.
I might set off devices across the world.
But the Amazon Lady in the Tube, as we call her,
begins with the A word,
David said, hey, give me some good ghost story podcast.
And we came up.
So thank you.
You know what your name is.
Thank you very much.
And David's got a haunted house story.
I love it.
Perfect, perfect, perfect for the fall time.
David, welcome to the show.
and tell us about this haunted house.
Thank you very much, Jim.
This took place about 30 years ago when I was living in Baltimore.
It was a turn-of-the-century house, about 1904, three levels, including the basement.
And I was with my future wife to be.
And how this all started was we had...
rescued a dog and about a month after him living with us, we were out one evening and came back
and found him kind of cowering in the living room. Now, before we went out, I had bought a couple of
glass bottles in a bag and they were divided by a piece of cardboard, which I threw away.
Now, when we came home, not only were the kitchen lights on, but all of the track lighting in the
kitchen had been turned to the right and was zooming in on the countertop.
On top of the countertop, this is the funny part, Jim, this piece of cardboard that I threw
away was in a trash container with a lock on it. When we came back, a piece of cardboard had
been positioned almost like a striking snake on the countertop and the lights were shining down on
it. Oh, wow. That was something I'd never experienced. I've experienced a few things in my life
along these lines, but nothing like that. As I say, my future wife, she said, we've got to go.
I'm going to go to my sister's house for the night. All this was going on. I was just dumbfounded
because I had no logical explanation at all for it. And so we scooped up the dog and off we went and
came back the next day.
Well, things
were quiet
for a couple of weeks
and on the
weekends
my daughters would come and stay
and they were both under 10 at the time
and they came over and made them a bedroom
upstairs and
this is the part that I suppose
I really, after
30 years, still cannot explain
I set them up with a nice bedroom
and I had put a lock on the door from the outside
because the dog was going through a chewing stage
and I'd already got in there and done some damage.
Right.
So I had this habit every night of just checking the lock.
Well, I put my hand on the door handle
and my hand moved because it was being twisted from the inside.
Oh.
And I must admit, Jim,
my first instinct was to get downstairs as quick as possible.
And I started to walk away in and I thought, no, no, no, no, I've got to find out what this is.
So I undid the lock, turned the door handle without resistance, walked in, and of course there was nothing to be seen in there.
Wow.
So at this point, we knew that we were dealing with something.
And I was just hoping that it wasn't going to manifest for my young children.
but unfortunately it did.
Typically on a Friday night,
as they were getting ready to come over
for a long weekend each weekend,
it started off with, again, it's hard to explain,
but we would come into the house after work
and there will be a white powder
sprinkled on some of the furniture and on the floor,
and it was tarpom powder.
again, no explanation as to how I knew I had a bottle of talcum powder, but no idea how it got sprinkled on the chairs, you know.
So my daughters were a little uncomfortable.
They said, something doesn't seem right in the house.
We're a little scared to go upstairs by ourselves.
So, you know, being the dad, you take care of their needs and try to make sure that they feel good.
well the next step was we were sitting in the living room around the table playing a card game
or just entertaining ourselves and you'd hear the boom boom boom boom boom of running up and down
the wooden steps and I of course said don't worry babe it's the dog it's just and of course they
would say well dad he's sitting right next to us how can it be the dog so I was caught out there
that went on, I would say, Jim, of the four weekends a month that they would be over, this would happen probably three of them.
And I was just completely lost for an explanation.
It wasn't a scary feeling by any means.
It was more of a, I wonder what this is.
Right.
And eventually, you know, the running on the stairs, I kind of turned it into a joke with them and said it's,
Casper the friendly ghost and that kind of thing.
And I was trying to let them know that whatever it is, while we may not see it,
there's an explanation that they don't need to be scared about.
But it didn't go.
And finally, Jim, at the end of the day after about, probably about three months of this,
I just put two and two together and thought, it's probably a child.
It's probably a child that is making themselves known when Mike
kids come over.
And one day I literally just stood at the bottom of the stairs and said, I understand you're here.
You're not causing us any harm, but I would really, really like it if you stopped because
you are going to scare my children.
And that's not a good thing to have going on.
And believe it or not, Jim, after about another two weeks, it just came to an end.
Wow.
And the only, you know, I did some history.
the house and there was this urban legend that this was a this was a road in a valley in
in baltimore city half the road had been washed away in hurricane agnes in 74 so it was one of the
houses that remained and there was a rumor in the neighborhood that al capone lived down that road
when he was in baltimore in the 20s which was just a fun story but i did find after the fact i found
that one of the stairs had an opening.
And I just came across it one day.
I was cleaning the stairs and I felt something move.
And I opened the lid and there was probably
a hundred, 75 to 100 loose coins in there,
most of which were from turn of the century in 1920s.
And I thought, well, the little boy must have left his money here
and that's why he was playing up.
But, yeah, that was it.
In a nutshell, it was one of those things that, you know, I've had some experiences,
both as a kid and as an adult, but nothing along these lines where I've actually
physically felt something with the turning of the door handle.
That was a whole different dimension for me.
Wow.
Wow.
Yeah.
And that was it.
And I thought to myself, you know, as I've got older, I thought, well, maybe it's because
I was going for a change of life.
Maybe I was hallucinating.
But I had to rule that out because somebody else saw this and somebody else witnessed what had happened.
So I've never really come to a conclusion about it.
Yeah.
Well, you know, and I don't know if you've heard me mention this on the shows, but we did a show a number of years ago.
I think it was right around 2020, 2019, 2020 with a British writer.
I think she was quite elderly at the time.
I believe she's passed since.
Rose Barrington, who is involved with the SPR, the Society of Psychical Research, and she wrote a book called JOT.
Just one of those things.
Let me see if I can find the exact title.
JOTT, you can jot it down.
JOT when things disappear and come back or relocate and why it really happens.
And it talks about, and if you look up Jot by Mary Rose Barrington on Amazon, you'll find it right away.
I'm guessing we've sold quite a few of those books for her estate because I mention it when these stories come up that maybe there is a paranormal explanation when things turn up in unusual places like that piece of cardboard.
And then basically the track lights acting as kind of a spotlight for it.
Like, don't miss this.
This is important.
You need to see this.
And then all the other things.
And the other thing you said I thought was really interesting.
one of the things was the fact that you just kind of asked it to go away and it kind of did.
And we've heard that too before. I mean, I think there, I think that like these spirits and
things there's a continuum. You know, you've got maybe the more sinister spirits and those kind
of things and then maybe the more benign, innocuous ones. And I kind of think some of them are just
having fun or they're just replaying things that happened in their life or wherever the case may be.
And those might be the ones that are kind of like, you know, the neighborhood kids,
They don't really mean any harm, but they're stepping on your lawn.
You said, hey, don't do that.
And then they stopped doing it.
Then you got the really mean kids, you know, and they don't listen so well.
That might be the more sinister kind of energies, you know.
Yes.
But it sounds like your haunting was somewhat benign.
It was just kind of freaky and kind of weird.
It was.
And it was just so unexplainable at the time.
You know, I was trying to look for some logic in it.
Yeah.
And I had...
Go ahead.
I'm sorry.
Oh, so, no.
I had actually become friends with...
an older lady who was based in Baltimore who was a medium and she had a medium circle that
she hosted. And she invited me to come along and I went to that for probably three to four
months and it gave me a little more confidence in being able to try to mitigate these
types of things and to be able to step in and say, can you stop now? Right.
It's going on a little bit too much. And that was, that's a great thing. That's helped me.
me through the years because this wasn't the first experience, but it was the one at this house
that was the most impactful.
Excellent.
Well, I hope you come back and tell the other ones.
Thank you for joining us today.
Oh, you're welcome, Jim.
And stay spooky.
Stay spooky, my friend.
Thank you very much.
A UFO story.
This one's been sitting for quite a while.
We kind of got delayed on it.
All my fault.
Ryan has been extremely patient, and we thought we were redo it and actually bring you some actual
footage of what Ryan and.
And I think his friend saw.
So, Ryan, welcome to the show.
Set it up for us.
And then we've got some glimpsa show.
Tell us what happened.
Sure.
So about, it'll be two years in February, I believe.
It was a Saturday night slash Sunday early morning.
And it was like 2.30 a.m.
And I woke up out of bed just feeling really strange, really weird.
And we live in a two-story home.
And so I was on the second floor, and I went to go get a drink of water,
and we have this huge bay window looking out on our stairs.
So I was walking out and still in.
the stairs and I saw something and I went and woke up my wife and my son and showed it to them
and my wife recorded it. So let's do number one. Let's take a look. Let's take a look. This is
UAP number one and that mouse is me. That's not part of the recording. All right, here we go. Set
it up for us, Ryan. Tell us what we're seeing. So we're seeing this light and I noticed that
the different colors going on and off, yellow, purples, greens, and then all of a sudden it just
kind of separates into two and blacks out.
That's amazing.
It just clicks out.
And we're like, where the heck did it go?
So I ran downstairs.
I grabbed a pair of binoculars and video two is what I saw.
and this is basically 30 seconds later, it popped up several miles away back farther on the mountain range where I'm at.
And I'm looking at it with the binoculars and trying to record it.
And it was doing the color separations.
You can kind of see the purples.
It's not the best video.
The purple and the whites and the yellows.
and it and it just stays there for a while doing the same thing it was doing by me.
Huh.
And I tried my best to record it.
And yeah, we were all out on our French porch just looking at this thing.
And it was just absolutely just mind-boggling where it at.
And that location, I did some research, and it's actually right by a Nike missile base
It's closed now, but that the army set up there for in the Los Angeles area to during World War II just in case we get attacked.
And, you know, it stays there for like two minutes, just doing its thing, and soon it will just disappear.
I tried to show just the, like a house so I can measure the distance of where it went.
And let's see.
Come on, Ryan, go back to the left.
There we go.
I was holding the binoculars and the recording at the same time.
That's tough.
That's tough, yeah.
And it's going to restart now.
You want to go to the third video and show?
Yes, let's go to the third video.
So it disappeared.
And once again, about 30 seconds later, it appeared even farther, farther out in a different position.
Then it repeats itself, yeah.
Yeah, then it repeats itself.
What I saw, and I don't know why it didn't get recorded, but what I saw was it go out and then I saw like a street go up into the sky.
Huh. So what do you think it is? Do you think it's alien? Do you think it's Chinese drones, American military experiments? What do you think?
Well, I did some background research. I checked to see if there was any groups out there, like the CE5 contact group, because they,
like to do some summoning around this area and they weren't out there that evening especially at
3 a.m. in the morning you know and I also contacted the airport because I lived by the Burbank
airport and they said nothing was going on with military wise because they would have to contact
the airport to let them know that they would be in their
flying space. So, you know, I try to do the best I can with eliminating what possibly it could be,
but I'm really close to Catalina Island. And there's believed to be a base there on the west side of
the island in Catalina, where they have seen multiple sightings and also the Nimitz videos.
the Tick-Tac was one of them was over there.
The other one was in San Diego.
But one of the videos was actually recorded really close by there.
So I think it's some kind of base underwater, maybe of multidimensional beings or possibly, you know, a species that's been here longer than us.
that has lived under the ocean.
Some people say it could be Atlantis,
and the people are still alive from them,
and that it's them.
I mean, it could be all kinds of different things.
Well, I mean, we were just talking about it on our other show,
the paranormal report, one of our other shows,
the one I do with Dar,
and there was just a story out talking about potential,
I think David Grush was talking about it
on Joe Rogan, potential underwater bases.
And if you see that old movie, The Abyss, that kind of that was, that's kind of a correlation to maybe what's really going on, that there's some kind of mysterious beings deep underwater.
And I've said it many times it said we know less about the Earth's oceans and we do about space.
So what if they're not coming from up there, but they're coming from down there or maybe they're going both ways.
maybe they're out there and down there.
Yeah.
There's a lot of speculation.
And no less than a congressperson, Congressman Tim Burchett, has said that there are things in the water that go much, much faster than the American military is capable of matching.
So either it's very disturbing, either a foreign adversary has something like that or there's something from somewhere else that has something like that with this transmedium capability.
It can fly in the sky.
It can go underneath water.
U.S.Os, U.S.Os.
U.S.os, yeah, exactly.
So, I mean, obviously you've had interest in this a long time.
You told that story about your grandpa years ago.
Yeah.
How has this or has this in any way change your viewpoint of the UFO question?
And I also told the story about, I forgot the gentleman's name that the night vision.
He was on coast to coast.
Yes.
I remember that. Yes. Yes.
Yeah, and that was my first experience seeing these in action.
You know, it just, I really believe with all the disclosure that's coming out from our governing body that we're close to just a big reveal that they're going to talk about, hey, we're in contact with these beings.
And we have been for a long time, and they want to help us.
And I think, you know, a lot of it has talked about they want to prevent nuclear war.
And I think they could help us to be saviors of our planet.
So I don't know entirely.
I hope you're right.
I may not be quite as optimistic as you, but I hope you're right.
I really hope you're right and that they're here.
One thing I've often felt that if they are here and they haven't destroyed us yet,
they may not be that bad because if they're here by that definition,
they're probably their technology is many, many, many, many thousands of years better than ours.
So the fact that we're not destroyed yet, you know, is a good sign.
Ryan, thank you.
Thank you for sharing the videos.
And thank you for your patience.
This has been going on for several months now.
and we finally settled.
Well, you had the idea.
Let's just re-record it and it worked out for the best.
It was good to get your narration to those videos as well.
Thank you for being on the campfire.
I appreciate it.
Thank you, Jim.
And I just want to do a shout out that I love your Plus Club.
I've had it ever since you first got it.
Wow, thank you.
And I love it.
I love the shows that you do on there.
And I love our little get-togethers that,
that we have. It is absolutely worth the money. So I encourage anybody if they want to learn
even more, have even greater access to join the Plus Club. It's worth it.
Spoken wise words by Ryan from California. Thank you, Ryan. And check it out,
jimharrel.com slash plus. Ryan's right. It's a good time. And I was figuring out the other day
and somebody, one of our listeners, was going to run the numbers. But I,
They said even then a week or two ago, you could literally start and have the shows on 24-7 and still be going without any repeats through Halloween.
There's a lot there.
I think we're around 27, 2,800 episodes, if not more.
So it's a lot.
Ryan, thank you for sharing your stories and your video on the campfire and for all of your support.
Thank you.
What's your karaoke song?
Classic rock, K-pop, Norwegian disco pop.
medieval trap, post-apocalyptic poca, or just acapella. Whatever you sing, it's up to you, just like
it's up to you to ask your doctor about Wagovi. It's so interesting, you know, these houses,
you buy these houses, and sometimes you end up getting a little more than you bargain for,
and that's the story that Fran is going to tell us about, and we're so glad to have her with us today.
Fran, welcome to the show and tell us what happened.
Okay, so in 2005, I purchased the home for my son and myself, and my son was 11 at the time, and the home was, and it was built in 1930, so it had been there for a while.
We moved in happily, and one day I was cleaning, and I went to the top of the stairs.
I had a credenza up there, and it had a vase of flowers on it, and I moved the vase, and the whole deck of the vase.
was already broken off, but somebody had put it back perfectly together, so I could have gotten
cut on it. And I didn't, you know, so I, when that happened, I thought, oh, my son must have broke
this and was afraid to tell me, and he put it back together. So he came home from school, and I said,
honey, why did you break the vase at the top of the steps? And he goes, Mom, I don't even know what
you're talking about. So I took him to the top of the steps, and I showed him, and he said, I didn't
do that. So I, you know, I believed him, but I did say to him, you know what, if it happens again,
And it's only a vase.
Tell me, you know, I would rather replace and get cut.
So, okay, a couple weeks went by.
So I was carrying a basket of clothes back up to steps.
And when I got to the top of the steps, I stepped on something that slid out from under my foot.
It was a ball.
So when he came home, I said, honey, you can't leave your ball in that little hallway up there.
I said, I wasn't looking where I was going.
And I said, I could have tripped on it or whatever.
And he goes, Mom, I don't have a ball.
He goes, did you forget?
I'm into cars.
I don't play baseball.
And I said, well, there was a ball at the top of the steps.
And he goes, and I don't know where it came from.
And I said, okay, all right, so I'm starting to think, okay, well, what are we getting into here?
He's not telling me the truth now.
So about a couple of months later, I came home from work, and I went into his bedroom,
and I looked on his dresser, and his smoke alarm was laying on the dresser.
And I thought, well, this isn't good.
So he came home, and I said, why did you take your smoke alarm down, Justin?
And he goes, mom, did you forget, you have nine foot ceilings?
You don't have a ladder, and I'm not exactly nine feet tall.
And I said, oh, yeah.
I said, but even if it would have fell, it would have fell straight down in front of the door, not three feet over to the dresser.
Right.
He goes, I don't know what you're talking about, mom.
I don't know.
Just put it back up.
I don't know.
Okay, so I'm starting to think.
Okay, this is three times he's telling me he doesn't know what's going on.
all right. I never caught him lying to me before. Why would he start now? So he wasn't home one weekend.
And I was in bed. I woke up about two o'clock and thought to myself, I would really like to go down and get a glass of water.
So I went downstairs, rounded the bend into the dining room. And all my wine glasses were laying on the floor.
They were on like just thrown, like, you know. And I thought I was imagining because it was two o'clock in the morning.
And I thought, no, let me stand here for a minute and really look at it.
at it and I did and I thought but I also had on that shelf where the wine glasses were was this
18 inch blown glass flower that had it looked like a day lily and if you know anything about day
lilies they don't roll they're kind of square off right and I thought that didn't roll off
how did the wine glasses get on the floor and Justin's not even home so I two o'clock in the morning
I picked them up, put them back on the shelf, and I got my water, and I went upstairs, and I thought,
okay, forget about it, blow it off, right?
So, about a month later, I'm on my way down the steps to go to the, I was going in, I wanted to go
down to the basement.
So I was in the kitchen, I flicked on the kitchen light, flipped on the basement light,
and the kitchen light went off.
So I turned, and I thought, don't tell me I'm going to have electrical problems now.
So I went over to flick the light back on.
it was on the off position in the kitchen.
So something shut that light off.
So I went about my business, got what I had to get,
and I didn't pay any attention.
But now I'm thinking, you know,
I'm thinking of myself,
I'm going to get an interior camera.
I want to see what's going on when I'm not home.
So I put up the interior camera,
and it was running for a couple months,
and I didn't see anything,
but one night I was at work,
and I get a notification on my phone
that there's something going on.
There's movement in the house.
So I look at the phone and I see in the corner of the picture on the phone is this white mist that swooshed from the bottom of the screen all the way up to the top in a swirl.
And I thought to myself, okay, well, okay, so now I've got this thing that I have to go home to.
And, you know, I was like contemplating should I go home or shouldn't I?
but I thought you've got nowhere else to go.
You've got to go face it.
So I did catch that on camera.
And, you know, I have, I've shown that the many people that agree with me.
You know, that's not normal, what they saw.
Okay.
So about six months later, I decided to take a vacation and I went away and I was gone for a week.
And when I came back, I always take the late plane back.
So I actually got to my house about 2 o'clock in the morning.
and I looked up at my living room window and there was a light flashing.
Now, no one had been there for a week because my son went to stay with his father.
And I thought, what is that?
So I walk up the steps and I open up the front door gingerly.
I pushed the door, but I didn't go in.
My TV was on and it was blasting.
The sound was up all the way at 2 o'clock in the morning and the light from whatever was on was flickering.
So I didn't know whether to go in.
I had to go in.
What was I going to do?
I had to shut that TV down, you know?
So I went in and I lowered the TV and I looked all around the house, put every light on,
and I didn't see anything.
And I thought, okay, this is getting to be too much.
Okay.
So I kind of like, you know, dismiss that.
I'm thinking to myself, but I did call the cable company.
The cable man came and he said to me, because I told him what happened.
I said, I came back from vacation and the TV was on blasting at two in the morning.
Cable man comes and he says to me, lady, I got a brand new box for you.
And he goes, if that happens again, you got a ghost.
And I said, I know.
I know.
So anyway, about, I'm going to say about a year later, I went to bed one night and I couldn't sleep.
And so I decided to go down on the sofa.
And I thought, I'll just, I'll lay here for a couple hours.
I fell asleep.
And I probably been there a couple hours.
And all of a sudden, something slapped my hand so hard.
That was stinging.
And when I opened.
my eyes at that split second, I saw a small child standing in front of me, and I went, and the
minute I did that, he disappeared. He had a newsboy hat on hair over his ears, about five or six
years old. So I got up so fast to go to work and got dressed that when I walked into the office,
my boss said to me, he didn't know anything. He said to me, what's wrong with you today? You look
like you saw a ghost. I said, I did. I did. So I explained to him what happened. And, you know,
they look at you like you're crazy. But that's okay. You can look at me like I'm crazy. My hand was
probably still stinging. That's how hard I got hit. Yeah. You know what you saw. You know what
you saw. I know what I saw. And felt. I have a friend. I felt that sting. That was, that stung for a
Wow. So I have a friend that's a medium. She calls herself an angel whisperer. Her name's Mottie. And I had to talk to
somebody about it that could understand. And I told her all the things that happened. And when I told her that
I got slapped and she said to her, I don't know who this, who this person is. And she said, oh,
it's a little boy from your neighborhood. He drowned. And I said, she said, you definitely have a
ghost. She said, what I need you to do when you feel his presence or when you think about it,
put a candle and a glass of water together on the table and tell him to go to the light.
He doesn't know he's dead.
Well, I'm really freaked out by this time, right?
So I thought to myself, well, I'm going to listen to her and I'm going to do this and see what happens.
So I did it and everything subsided forever.
But then I still couldn't get it out of my head.
I thought, you know, I've got to talk to somebody.
So there was a neighbor across the street.
Her name was Margaret.
And I went over to her.
Margaret lived in the neighbor.
her life, 60 or 70 years.
I mean, she was really old.
And I said, Margaret, I'm going to tell you a story,
and you're probably going to think I lost my mind,
but I'm going to take my chances anyway.
So I proceeded to tell her all the things that happened,
and when I told her what my friend said
about a little boy that drowned,
and I said, do you know of any children in this neighborhood
that drowned?
And before I got the word drowned out of my mouth,
she went, oh, yes, it was a little boy
that lived next door to where you live.
And she said, all the children in the neighborhood that particular day were playing.
And she said, I don't know if you know this, but there is a creek behind my house.
And I said, oh, I didn't know that.
She said, all the children built this raft.
The two boys got on the raft.
The raft started to fall apart.
One boy grabbed onto a tree and the other boy couldn't grab on to anything.
And she said, that was the little boy that lived next door to where you live.
that was their only son.
Oh, wow.
Well, I think I met him.
And she said, you probably did.
Wow.
And that's my story.
That's a great campfire story, Fran.
That's a great campfire story.
So, and I wasn't clear, are you still at that house or is that house a thing in the past?
No, I sold that house in 2019.
I lived there 14 years.
And I knew that the entity that was there was, everything was very juvenile, what they were doing.
And I figured it was a child.
And when I saw the child and then it was confirmed by my friend that was the angel whisper and the neighbor, then I knew I was on the right track.
But I never really got scared because it was juvenile.
But when he hit me, that's kind of like when I thought.
When they start hitting you, that's or pushing you down the stairs or putting something so you'll fall down.
But maybe it was just like a mischievous, you know.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
That's what I thought.
But, you know, when I tell people that story, I always back.
it up with the video that my interior camera pulled up because I have that video.
And when they see the swoosh, they go, oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Well, Fran, thank you so much for sharing a great campfire story.
So glad you found the show and stay spooky.
Oh, you stay spooky.
You take care.
Bye-bye.
Adam is on the line from Texas.
We're so glad to have him on the show again.
And he has a story about his grandma.
And these things that happen, they're very, very interesting.
Adam, welcome back to the show and tell us what happened.
Yeah, thanks so much for having me, Jim.
Yeah, so basically, this took place.
My grandmother passed away two years ago, and I have the timeline.
I was listening back through voice notes from my mom earlier.
So around like two weeks before her anniversary this year, my mom's cousin thought she saw my grandmother in the store just around the corner, like the supermarket just around the corner from the house.
So she called my mom and she was saying like, oh my God, obviously it wasn't her, but I got such a shock when I saw this lady.
She was the image of Nanny Margie. Everybody called her Nanny Margie, even like the kids on the street and stuff like that.
So anyway, about, I think the following Tuesday was her anniversary, the following Tuesday,
they find her wallet.
Somebody, like, finds her wallet on the side of the road about a mile from her old house.
And she still had, like, all of her documents and stuff that had been in there.
She wasn't a hoarder, but she kept every, like, mask card and, you know, little, like, photographs
of everybody in there.
and even like her social security card was in there.
So the person was able to get her,
her old address brought it to the house,
the new owners of the house,
who know my family because they lived close by even before then.
They called my auntie and they said,
hey, I think we found your sister's wallet or something.
So my auntie goes over there, picks it up,
and it's our grandmother's wallet.
And she's just totally confused.
She's like, we cleaned out,
the house a year ago, a year after she died.
How was this wallet in pristine condition just on the side of the road?
Really, like, just super strange.
It hadn't been like sitting out overnight.
This is in Ireland, by the way, where it's like constantly drizzly, rainy.
There's no water damage.
No, nothing like that.
So, of course, my mom's talking to her cousins again.
They're all very close family, you know.
And her cousin tells her.
well, actually, my sister didn't want to tell you this because she didn't want to upset you,
but she thought that she saw Nanny Margie in the supermarket on a separate occasion just the other day.
Wow.
And then it turned out the daughter of my cousin, who was also my cousin, I guess, she also had this same experience.
And none of them had told each other because they all kind of thought they were, you know, losing it a little bit.
and so then anyway, all this stuff started to come out.
And anyway, my auntie came into some money, like shortly after this.
My sister gets into her car a couple of days later and she's, my sister minds kids for a living.
She is the driver, like in her friend group, all that stuff.
She gets in and she finds a 50-year-old note just sitting on her passenger seat.
and she calls everybody because she doesn't want to just take this money she's like somebody's
after losing 50 euros here right and nobody cops up to it so she's just given this 50 euro
magically and so she calls me because she's always out late minding kids and all that kind of
stuff but the time difference I'm always up when she gets home so she calls me and she's saying oh my
god nandi left this for me and lull and I'm going all right like
relax it's a coincidence you know it's a nice thought but like just enjoy the 50 euros and kind of
go with it like you know what i mean well i wasn't trying to take away from her experience but i'm always
that kind of a skeptic side so i was joking with her and i says to her like look if i find 50 euros
in my house here in texas then we'll know it's nanny you know so anyway a couple weeks later
and it's a Tuesday again.
All these things seem to happen
on the Tuesday for some reason.
And we had just bought
and moved into this house
and we were getting
the spare bedroom ready
for my parents were actually coming over.
And funny enough,
we've been calling it the granny room
because every time we go back home
we stay with one of the grandparents,
I've one left.
And it always feels lovely staying
in your granny's house.
So we wanted to try and emulate that.
So anyway, we've had all this stuff in storage for like six years that we hadn't like gifts from our wedding and stuff that we just had nowhere to put.
So I come home from work one day and my wife, Dulcei, has, she like just got the ball rolling and she had already like painted and all.
And she's like, I really need you to hang these shelves.
And I'm like, cranky, just came home from work.
I'm like, all right, fine.
So I go in there and I'm putting up these shelves and it's all like the two sheds.
shelves now are just full of like stuff from our wedding.
And there's these two little mugs,
little teacups and just says mister and misses on it.
That's it.
And so I'm putting all this stuff up,
you know, stressed out, sweating all that.
And I turn around,
they're looking a pile of rubbish.
And sitting on top of the box,
I have it here.
It wasn't a 50 euro note,
but it was a 20 euro note.
And like literally,
I,
one of the only times,
I actually got chills when I saw it.
I was like, hang on a minute.
What is that doing here?
So it turns out my nanny had bought us those cups, right?
Nanny Margie bought those cups for us six years ago.
And they stayed in the box.
And then that box went into a bigger box in storage.
So I was like, oh my God.
Again, I was thinking like, what a coincidence, right?
But then it was only afterwards.
I took a picture and I put it in the family.
WhatsApp group and I was kind of half
joking. I was like, oh, I guess it was Nanny because I just
found this. But
afterwards, my mom texts me,
she sends me a voice note and
she's like, you know, it's her birthday
today, don't you?
And I didn't because I'm brutal
with dates. Like, I've never been good with
dates, anniversary's birthdays, anything like that.
So it was my Nanny's birthday. I found the money.
But then I was sitting downstairs and I had the money
sitting beside me on the couch and I was
just thinking back over it.
I'm like, hold on.
My wife took these cups out of this little box.
And it was just cardboard.
And all that was in there was a tiny little clear plastic thing holding the cups in place in the cardboard box.
She opened it, took these cups out, put the cups on the bed for me to put on the shelf.
How did she not see the 20 euros that would have been sitting on top of these cups in the box?
yeah, that was it.
It was just like, okay, maybe that really was, you know,
a little birthday present from Nanny on her birthday, you know?
You know, I believe that kind of thing happens.
I really do.
And we've heard all kinds of things.
We've heard lottery tickets.
We've heard things put in our places.
There was someone, maybe a year ago, I can't remember.
What am I thinking of?
something about a message of such and such a place, there's the money. And they looked and it was in some
incredibly odd place. So I do believe, frankly, that our loved ones sometimes can get messages to us
and sometimes they can get physical things to us. And sometimes I think it's more for kind of like
the 20 euros. That's very nice, you know. But I think the value of it's not in the
20 euros the value is like wink wink nudge nudge i'm still around i'm still watching you yeah exactly
and like that was her thing like uh one side that side of the family was always kind of um
i'm not going to use the word poor but like always had more concerns about money but she was
always the one that would slip you you know if you were going out with the lads for the night she'd be
the one even though she didn't have it she'd make sure that you had a few quick going out like
that was kind of just her her way so uh yeah it was yeah it was um yeah it was um yeah it
It was, you know, with all the spooky, scary stories, this one was, I think a mix between a head scratcher, too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence, and all in all, just a lovely little heartwarming story.
And that's the thing is I believe it's like a continuum, right?
I think there's really some scary, spooky stuff out there, maybe some darker energies.
And then I think there's the warmer side, too.
It's just like our world every day.
You've got war pestilence and famine and horrible things.
And then you've got great art and great people and great food and, you know, all the good things about life.
And it all exists.
It's all there at the same time.
Adam, thank you so much for sharing your story and stay spooky.
Stay spooky, Jim.
Thanks.
Well, thank you for joining us on this Halloween edition of the Camp Fire.

Everybody's going to immediately switch not to Thanksgiving,
but to Christmas.
We just skip over Thanksgiving in the States now.
Halloween will be forgotten.

Don't do anything I wouldn't do.
And we appreciate you very much.
As always, stay safe and stay spooky.
Bye-bye.
Thank you.
