Starting point is 00:00:00 Up next, the Naked Ghost on Jim Harold's Campfire. Sit back, relax, and warm yourself by Jim Harold's Campfire. Next up on the Campfire is Jeff from Texas. And, you know, it's pretty cool. You look at his background here, you'll see he's got some jellyfish too, which is pretty awesome. Well, well, maybe they'll become pen pals, you know, my jellyfish, you're in jellyfish. But thank you for joining us. And you have a story.
Starting point is 00:00:36 I mean, I think a lot of us have had a situation where we've checked into a hotel room and we've had to say, hey, you know, there's a problem here. I've got to move to another room. But yours has a little bit of a twist. Tell us what happened and welcome to the show. Jim, thank you so much. So this is great to talk to you about this today because this is almost a week exactly to when this happened. And I thought it would be good to talk about it. Well, it's still. fresh in my mind because I realized I was starting to explain things away that, oh, it must have been this or must have been that. I think it's a way to self-comfort because this, I'm finally feeling more relaxed about it now, but it was giving me chills the entire past week. The line of business that I'm in has me traveling pretty often. and I had a situation where I had to go somewhere that's about three hours away from my house.
Starting point is 00:01:40 I decided to drive and I went straight to the place where I was going to be working that day. It was a very chaotic day and ended up not getting to the hotel around 7.30.8. When I got there, there was a bit of a line. And when I was finally checked in, the woman was, could not have been more friendly or nice and typical check-in process went right up to the room, got everything unpacked, and sadly discovered that the plumbing was not working in the bathroom. So I walked downstairs, and the lobby was absolutely empty. I couldn't find the person who checked me in, and I finally found her.
Starting point is 00:02:27 I said, hey, explain this situation. She said, I'm so sorry. Pack up your stuff. come back down, I'll get you checked into a new room. I was exhausted at this point and annoyed, but she was being so friendly and so nice. I'm like, what are the choices do I have? It went up, got all my stuff, brought it back down. And in the span of a minute and a half, there must have been maybe four or five people all of a sudden checking in.
Starting point is 00:02:53 And so I was just exhausted and I sat off to the side. In the middle of all this chaos, she started waving, I have it right here. she started waving the key. Huh. She had already changed the room over for me. Jim, the second she handed me the key in the middle of all this chaos, it felt like somebody was giving me something cold and clammy. Huh.
Starting point is 00:03:16 And I said, this is, this is crazy. You're tired. You're exhausted. Just looking at the number gave me this really weird feeling. I didn't pay any, any mind to it. I said, you're exhausted. You're not, you know, fully functioning. went to the elevator.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Jim, the second I got off the elevator, this room was about maybe 10, 15 feet from the door. I felt this impending sense of doom. Oh. I approached the door and I realized that it was a design for somebody to be, it was an accessible room, so it had two different peep holes. There's one like a standard height
Starting point is 00:03:55 and then there was one for lower for somebody who's in a wheelchair. I didn't know why they gave me this room. I walked in, Jim, I stood in place for about 45, 60 seconds holding my bag. I felt so uncomfortable in this room. I felt this feeling of just terror and super, I felt super uncomfortable. I said, why is this happening to me? And I was debating, do I have the energy to go back down to the lobby, wait in another line and then try to change? And I stood there kind of weighing my options.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Right. I said, why am I feeling this is absolutely crazy? And I said, this is so silly. So I said, I'm just going to stay here. It's only for a couple of nights. So I unpacked everything. And I had this very strange feeling every time I would go into the bathroom. It was this very large bathroom with this larger entrance.
Starting point is 00:04:57 And something didn't feel right. that's the only way I can describe it. And so I was absolutely exhausted, called my wife, gave her a check-in about how the day had gone, and I said, I'm so tired, I'm just going to go to bed. I've never in my life had a problem falling asleep, ever. I could not fall asleep. So I went on my cell phone, and then I finally turned off all the lights and I started to drift off. And I had this sensation that somebody was rattling me awake by like grabbing my shoulder. It was that moment right when you're about to slip off into sleep and I felt this jostling. I kind of startled up and I heard, I didn't hear a voice, but it was as clear as a belt that he died in the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Oh, oh. And I remember, I remember feeling why did this thought occur into my head. And I heard this, this voice again saying he died in the bathroom. He's dead. This terrified me. But I started doing all of the explaining. Like, this is absolutely insane. This is crazy.
Starting point is 00:06:21 And so I'm like, let me just, I'll just go back just. I'm having some kind of a weird dream or something. From that point until about, I'd say maybe 5.45, 6 in the morning, I would go through cycles where I would just be about to sleep. And the only way I can describe it, the top blanket in this bed was like that waffle kind of material. Right. And it, I had kind of covered my shoulders.
Starting point is 00:06:51 it felt like this bony finger was pressing into my shoulder. The way that if you want to wake somebody, I think there's a nice way you can wake somebody up like, hey, tell you might, or you can kind of like angrily jostle somebody. Right, right. Jim, that's what I felt was happening. But this one, this was like a cycle the entire night.
Starting point is 00:07:16 And I remember at one point, I remember I didn't move from that position of the best. I said, maybe this will stop. Everything was logical at that point. Maybe this will stop if I moved to the other side of the bed. So I, at one point in the night, moved to the other side of the bed. Same thing happened, except on the opposite shoulder, the one that was closest to the edge of the bed. I would get to that point where I was just about just, I'm like, oh, this is finally going to happen.
Starting point is 00:07:45 I'm finally going to sleep. And I would get this angry, this bony finger sensation against my shoulder. And I remember at one point saying, I was debating of going to the lobby to sleep. I've never had that idea in my life to go to sleep in a hotel lobby. Anywhere felt like it was going to be better than where I was. I was thinking to myself, maybe I'll go and sleep on the couch in this room. And so this went on and on. And at one point, I had shut the blackout screen on the window.
Starting point is 00:08:21 And the only light that was in the room was from the smoke detector that was blinking every 30 seconds or so. And at one point, this noise started to happen that sounded like this. It was like, and I remember I explained it away in my head that it was the, oh, that's the smoke detector that must be doing some kind of a test. Yeah. It was like I was in some weird reality where I was explaining these crazy things away. And all of a sudden, I kept, I started having these horrific images running through my, my head of disasters and just terrible events. And at that point, I got up and I packed up all my stuff. And I, the, I said, I remember saying out loud, I said, I will never come back to this hotel for the rest of my life.
Starting point is 00:09:24 I can't blame you. The second that I got outside of the room, it was like a heavy trench coat had been pulled off of my back. I felt completely almost like it was free, like I had escaped something. And I walked, there was this amazing breakfast buffet happening. I was super hungry. I walked right past all of that. the second I got outside, the, it was like, it was this muggy morning. It was super hot, but it was like the most fresh air that I've ever smelled in my life.
Starting point is 00:10:07 I had a second night at this hotel, and they had called me, said, hey, we're sorry. We wanted to get you into another room, but that's the only room that's available. I said, that's fun. I said, I'm driving home tonight. And so later that night, I hadn't slept. I drove the three hours. And it was the most liberating drive, I think I've ever had. Wow.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Because I was getting away from whatever, whatever that was. So almost seems like you encountered actual evil of some type. That's what it's a, it was so clear that something had happened. in this bathroom, something terrible. And I remember at one point there was, and it was, it's a brand new hotel. There was a tile in the bathroom that was loose, which I thought was very, very odd. I've never had something speak to me so clearly or have, have a thought placed in my mind that filled me up with so much terror.
Starting point is 00:11:11 When I got home, I sat out on my porch for like an hour, just breathing in my survival. roundings, slept like a baby that night. It was absolutely terrifying. Well, the good thing is, the good thing is, is that whatever it was doesn't appear to have followed you, which is, which is a good thing. But I'm assuming, let's say the hotel called you up and said, Jeff, we know you're coming to town. And we know you had a bad experience. And we are going to give you a free night in that room. No, no, no cost whatsoever. In fact, we're going to throw in a free breakfast buffet. What would you, what would, what would you, what would you answer?
Starting point is 00:11:54 I wouldn't my, uh, for a million dollars, I would not, I, I would not be physically capable of going back into that, uh, into that room. Whatever I kind of thought. I kind of thought that would be your answer. Well, who knows what was? You have no idea who or what it was. No, no, no. It just, it was the, this feeling that someone was very, very.
Starting point is 00:12:18 angry that I was there that would not let me sleep. I've never had that situation where over and over and over an entire night, I was completely interrupted at the exact moment where I was about to drift off into sleep. It was this exhausting experience that I've never, never had before. It was, it was terrifying. Jeff, thank you for joining us on the campfire, sharing this scary story. Stay spooky. But he's been back lately in a big way with some great campfire stories, and I'm sure tonight will be no exception. Travis from California joins us again. And he has a couple more stories about that spooky park he was telling us about. And wow, if there is fascinating as the last ones, I can't wait. Travis, welcome back to the show.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Tell us these stories. Welcome back. Well, thank you very much. That's nice to be back. I got to be completely truthful. I almost canceled because I thought, you know, if I was one of your listeners, I would be like, well, if all these things are happening, Why does he keep going back to that park?
Starting point is 00:16:17 One thing that I really, really need to make clear. I'm going to that park since November of 2023. It's now roughly going to be October of 26. And in all that time, the only thing that this happened to me is the two that I told you before and then this one. So what I said, it's not poltergeist on the park people. You know what I'm saying? It's not happening all the time. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Yeah. So anyway, there we go. So once again, meeting my buddies. They get off work about maybe 10.30. I'm like, cool. It was May, it was May of 2024. And at the park, it's dark. And I'm sitting there at the picnic table. And I wish you guys could see a picture. There's one path. It goes right in front of the picnic table. You can't get by me unless you either walk right or walk left. Right is you're going deeper into the park. Left is you're leaving the park. So I'm sitting there and I have my phone and I'm looking at the sky and all that. And so I'm sit there and I'm on my nook and Kindle and I hear crunching like leaves crunching and I can hear somebody coming down the path and I'm like well that's really weird my friends aren't supposed to be here until 1030 and my buddy Greg the way that you uh that I sit at the table I can see cars pulling up
Starting point is 00:17:32 and I'm looking up and I'm like no cars pulled up I'm like hmm so anyway I can hear crunching and I see this gentleman walking uh down the path and uh it wasn't really moonlight But it was enough where you could see somebody. So this gentleman walks by me, and I'm like, okay, and he walks deeper into the forest on the path. The only problem was this gentleman was, oh, how shall I say, severely, severely clothing impaired. Oh. And I'm like, oh, I'm like, okay dokey. Well, that was interesting.
Starting point is 00:18:10 And so actually, I kind of started getting mad. He walked. He didn't even acknowledge me. Didn't look over nothing. So my buddies get to the park and I said, hey man, I said, look, I said, this is the deal. I said, I'm not approved by any stretch of the imagination. I said, but if this kind of nonsense is going to go on down to this park,
Starting point is 00:18:25 I said, I'm not coming down here. And they go, I told him, they go, yeah, they said, oh, you saw the naked ghost. And I said, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. And I said, is this? I said, what do you? My buddies are really nice. but if a mothership alien landed in the park and they saw it, they'd go, huh, then they wouldn't tell you, you would have to ask them.
Starting point is 00:18:49 They'd go, oh, yeah, that happened. You get one of those kind of, you know, those kind of people that you have to ask them. And I said, no, no, no. And they said, what's really weird that you happen to see him because he's usually seen way, way on the other side. And I said, dude, I said, you know what? I said, I'm not falling for this anymore. where I said, is this some kind of like a hazing, weird thing? He goes, they said, no, dude.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Yeah. And I just like, you know, whatever, and I'm thinking about it. And they kind of made a joke. And they said, whoever the guy was must have been really hot. And Jim, I don't know where this came from. I immediately said this without even thinking. I said, no, I said, no, he wasn't. I said he died of hypothermia.
Starting point is 00:19:35 and I'm like, where did that come from? And they kind of looked at me, I said, when you die of hypothermia, you take your clothes off because you get hot. When you're freezing to death, you get, yeah. And I'm like, where did that come from? And I just said, he died of hypothermia. And I'm like, I have no idea where that came from in any way, shape, or form. And so anyway, they leave, and I'm back at the park, you know, look at the sky and I, some more. things were not making sense. Remember when I heard the crunching? Yes. Okay, first of all, I looked at the path. It was pure dirt. There's no leaves. There were no leaves on that path. And I thought, okay, if there's no leaves, then why did I hear the crunching of leaves? Right. So I thought, wait a minute. So I got my phone and I got my flashlight. And I'm looking other than my buddies.
Starting point is 00:20:35 a foot cramp, no prints in any way, shape, or form. And the guy walked, yeah, the guy walked past me. So there would be a whole path of footprints that would have been left intact. So I'm shining my flashlight, nothing. No footprints of any kind whatsoever. Zero, nothing. So I did, I did do some research, and unfortunately, it's very sketchy, the info and the history of that park, there had been, of course, it's been around for two centuries,
Starting point is 00:21:12 you know, maybe even longer, there have been people that have homeless people that have died. There had been, you know, and unfortunately, in our society, you know, if somebody's homeless, whether they're murdered or they die on their own, they, the officers really don't put too much effort into finding what happened. You get what I'm saying? Right. So, yeah, so I don't know. That's what I was told that this individual clothing impaired man has been seen. And they just were really confused because he's always really seen way over there.
Starting point is 00:21:47 I'm like, oh, my lucky night, I guess. I don't know. So that's it. And I can't. Yeah, it is what it is. Well, I mean, it is. And the thing is that really, when you said that about it being naked, I thought immediately of hypothermia.
Starting point is 00:22:05 You know. Exactly. You know, because, yeah. And they're making a joke and going, oh, he must have been really hot. And like I said, Jim, it literally, my mouth and voice said, no, he didn't. He died of hypothermia. I was not even consciously thinking of even replying.
Starting point is 00:22:20 So I have no idea where that came out from. So that would be a tough thing. That would be a tough thing to verify. But like you said, you know, probably homeless people in the park. I mean, is very plausible to think over the course of history. history of that park. Somebody's died of hypothermia because it's a horrible thing. And it is counterintuitive, but it is true. When people have severe
Starting point is 00:22:41 hypothermia, they start feeling hot and they start taking off their clothes. Yeah, but and then on the flip side, when you have hypothermia, you get cold. When you have a heat stroke, you start shivering and getting cold, so everything's like backwards. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. Yeah. But anyway, that's all I can tell you. All I can tell you is this gentleman, uh, walk by me, clothing impaired. Why I heard the leaves
Starting point is 00:23:07 crunching when there were no leaves, no leaves at all. The path was completely, uh, dirt, checked, no footprints, zero, nada. And never saw him again in any way, shape, or form. So there you go. I do like the phrase clothing impaired. Clothing impaired. I also thought of that for your, yeah, I'm trying to, uh, be, uh, you're trying to be, uh, very genteel about a very, very genteel. Yeah, you're more, you're more feminine, uh, simean, uh, simeal. in an audience that are like, you know, clothing impaired. Also, I thought of that old Ray Stevenson when I was a little kid. You'll probably remember it.
Starting point is 00:23:42 The streak, yeah. Yeah. But I mean, in all series, go ahead. Go ahead. Well, like I said, he walked by me, and he did not acknowledge me in any way, shape, or form. It was like I wasn't even there. He walked. He was as solid as you and I.
Starting point is 00:23:56 His legs walked. His arms were kind of moving, you know, side to side like ours do. look straight ahead. He didn't look. You know, he had kind of blonde, I'd say about maybe late 40s. And all I can say is I know what I saw. And they just said, well, he's usually seen way over there. So I guess that was my lucky night. I don't know what was going on with that.
Starting point is 00:24:17 Well, Travis, thank you for joining us. Thanks for sharing the story of The Naked Ghost. And hopefully, I've never. And hopefully we will hear from you again. other things maybe that have happened over the years or may he still yet have it. Travis, thanks as always. Stay spooky. Stay spooky. Thank you so much. Thank you, bud.
Starting point is 00:24:42 He's been listening for several years and now it's a family as fair. His family listens. It is so cool. I'm talking about Andy from Indiana. We're so glad to have him. And, you know, when you're hearing something strange walking around in your house, it gets your attention and it sticks with you. And it's stuck with Andy, and he's going to tell us all about it.
Starting point is 00:25:03 Andy, welcome to the show. Thanks for listening all these years. I love that it's a family situation with you and your daughter. Tell us what happened, though, with this strange experience. So, yeah, this was kind of the first house. A friend of mine moved into we were young. Definitely was not in the best part of the neighborhood. But, you know, we were excited to live there.
Starting point is 00:25:29 and I was working some, you know, some oddball shifts at work and had wound up on third shift. And it was kind of interesting. And you know how maybe if you'd work shift work before, you get home. And I was lucky enough to be one of those people that we'd get home and pretty much go straight to bed. And the timing on this was really odd. I don't remember exactly any particular, the month that it happened. It would have been around 1998. And we had had no real experiences before that.
Starting point is 00:26:06 It wasn't like we had just moved in or anything. And one morning I'm coming home and go upstairs, do my normal thing, and go to bed. And about the time I'm getting settling in, it settled in. I kind of hear some footsteps downstairs in the kitchen, you know, and just kind of stomping around down there. Not real heavy. But I being on third shift and coming up. at home, it was, you know, 7, 38 o'clock in the morning, I thought, well, maybe it's my roommate, maybe he came home. So I just kind of hollered for him and there was no response. So I went down there
Starting point is 00:26:37 and, you know, the doors are all closed, no sign of anybody being there. And I didn't think too much of it other than it was odd and went back upstairs and went to bed. Next morning, almost the exact same time, same routine, get in bed within a few minutes. I hear the footsteps again going through the kitchen. And there was a door that goes, it was a very old home. I mean, early 1900s, maybe even late 1800s. So there's a lot of room downstairs. And then there was just one door that opened up to the steps that would lead you up into the, you know, upstairs into the bedrooms. Right. So the second day, I kind of hear the walking through the house. house a little bit more, and I hear that door open up. And I'm thinking, okay, surely, this has got to be
Starting point is 00:27:27 my roommate mess with me. So I kind of like jump out, you know, and I'm looking downstairs, and there's no side of anything. Now, I walk around and, okay, so at this point, I kind of figured it, and I had been into paranormal things, and admittedly, you know, it wasn't the first thing, oddball thing to ever happened to me in my life. So it wasn't necessarily scary, but, you know, it was definitely getting my attention at that point. Right. And so go back to bed the next morning. I get home pretty much the same time.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Go to bed and same steps through the house, door opens. And I hear the steps go up, actually up into the second floor of the house. And, you know, well, when you walk up to steps, it basically walked right into my. roommate's room, and then you had to open the door to my bedroom. So, you know, I kind of hear him walking around my bedroom, and then I hear a creek like somebody had sat into the bed. And I thought, I mean, I jumped up this point, slung the door. I mean, I'm slinging the door open at this point, you know, I got nothing. And of course, you know, by this time, I've asked my roommate, like, you know, leaving him notes, you know, but this was before cell phones and things. So, you know,
Starting point is 00:28:49 I'm leaving a note, like, man, if, you know, if you think, you know, if you think, this is funny it's not funny anymore you know come on so uh but yeah he's you know he said hey i don't know anything about i've been at work all day so you know and he left pretty early in the morning to go to his job and you know we're talking maybe eight eight 30 so of course he's right in the beginning of his work so it wouldn't have made sense anyway but the last day um fourth day was definitely the most odd and um it got it it got really dark pretty quick um Same noise, you know, I come home, go to bed. I don't fall asleep or anything.
Starting point is 00:29:27 And at this point, I'm like, okay, maybe I can see. So I'm anticipating it, you know, I mean, I'm ready for it. And the odd thing, and this, I have no rhyme or reason for this whatsoever, walk in my bedroom door that morning. And there was just this huge gust of wind. And it almost sounded like birds, like if a bunch of birds take off. Right. And that'll kind of tie in here in a second.
Starting point is 00:29:54 But not a noise I'd ever heard before. Definitely not a noise I'd ever heard in the house. And no windows are open, nothing. You know, no real explanation. So I sit down and I'm waiting at this point. There's no like going to bed type thing. I'm just, though, this is going to happen. I'm convinced.
Starting point is 00:30:11 So sure enough, footsteps, up the door, upstairs. And I'm thinking, you know, when I hear it walk right in front of my door, I'm just going to grab the doorknob and open it. And just as it's walking by and I think I'm going to grab this doorknob, all of a sudden my doorknob just rattles. Oh, man. Yeah. I was just like, you know, I mean, all of a sudden I'm jumping back.
Starting point is 00:30:38 I'm like, oh, my God. So then I grab it thinking, okay, something. Nothing. Nothing there. And, you know, so just a little bit of a warning. this, there is like a little bit dark, a bit of a dark twist here. So just kind of a fair warning to whoever might be listening. But, um, so I go to bed and, um, I wake up the next morning. And as I'm getting out of bed and I kind of sit my feet down on the ground, I look straight down,
Starting point is 00:31:08 you know, kind of where, in between where my feet are. And there is a dead bird. And the bird is actually like the wings are pulled out and the legs are pulled straight which makes no sense i'm from the country i've grown up lived in the country my whole life and i've seen you know you've seen a bird that is passed and they typically are kind of curled up you know i mean you never see one sprawled out with its wings and just and as strange as it could be i mean it was right in between my feet oh gosh yeah and and i there was no tie to that i have no understanding other than the fact that that I heard all that wild fluttering when I opened up the door. But, I mean, this wasn't the sound of one bird.
Starting point is 00:31:54 And the fact that I had slept for, you know, a few hours, sooner or later, if that bird was in the room, it probably would have woken me up, I would assume. I didn't have a ceiling. Yeah, I didn't have a ceiling fan or anything. It was just like that thing had been manipulated and sat right on the floor like, like, here you go. Like, I don't want to say a gift because that's awfully macabre, but you know what I mean. Right. Here's my final exhibition. Yeah. Yes. And that was it. I had already purchased a house and we were getting ready to move out. So within another month we moved out and there was no, no more, no more situations there.
Starting point is 00:32:38 And leading up to it, like I said, now I have an aunt that's, I would say, very, very sensitive. and the first time she ever came to that house, she walked about halfway up those steps, and she turned around and she said, I'll never go up there. And she said, I can't believe you're going to live here. Wow. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Yeah, so she's always been very sensitive. And I guess to some extent, I felt like I was. And it creeped me out, but I thought, you know, this is a house built in the early 1900s in a neighborhood that's most people don't want to live in. You know, maybe that's what's kind of weird about it. But yeah, that was it. I mean, the one oddball situation, and there was nothing afterwards.
Starting point is 00:33:20 We moved out, and, I mean, other things happened in other homes, but for that place, that was it. Yeah, but it was about as strange a situation, about as strange as it gets. Yeah, and the wrapping a bow on it with that bird, that was eerie. Odd, yes. So odd. Well, you know, again, we don't claim to solve the mysteries. We just put them out there for contemplation. and see if other people have had similar experiences.
Starting point is 00:33:46 Sounds like something was definitely going on in that house. Well, Andy, thank you so much for joining us. I appreciate you. Glad you've enjoyed the show all these years and your daughter. I appreciate it very much. And stay spooky. Stay spooky. Thank you, Jim.
Starting point is 00:34:04 You know, sometimes people say, oh, I don't know if I'm on the campfire. It's kind of scary. Who knows? Maybe Jim's a bad guy. Maybe he's mean. You know, those kind of things. or maybe I don't think people say that that much,
Starting point is 00:34:15 but they might think, oh, this is intimidating or something, which is kind of, it's just me. It's no big deal. And what I love is when we get repeat callers because it proves that, hey, it's not such a bad deal. And Desley is back on the campfire all the way from Australia, and I was just commenting to her, we might have people, you know, 50 miles down the road,
Starting point is 00:34:36 and they look like they've got fuzzy cam and things. And here's Desley. First of all, it's midnight. in Australia where she's at. It's 10 a.m. here, so kudos for that. She's come back again, proving it's not such a bad experience. And her video, her video is crystal clear, clear across the world, just amazing. And she has a great story for us.
Starting point is 00:34:56 She's going to tell us about staying in Sydney's most haunted location, and the strangest then ensued. So glad to have you back, Desley. Tell us what happened. Thank you for having me again. So before I get into the story, I just thought I'd give you a little bit of background about the place. So Q Station is in Manly in Sydney and it used to be a quarantine station. I think it opened around 1832 until about 1984. So people would be shipped there to be suspected of carrying any diseases.
Starting point is 00:35:31 And there were some awful things that went on there. They had to go through decontamination services like acid showers, which I can't imagine would have been nice. Some really brutal stuff happened there. And over the years, I think there's about 572 estimated people that have died there and they're all buried on site. So you can imagine why it has a reputation of being one of the most haunted places in Australia. So being me, I thought, what better place to take my family of five on a holiday. But I told my husband, but not my three children.
Starting point is 00:36:07 So the places hasn't really changed that much. sort of have it. There's little cottages, like little houses that are set up around a massive property. And it sort of gives you a bit of insight to how the families would have stayed there. So they're pretty creaky and pretty old and pretty creepy, really. So we walked in and my two girls who often share the room ran off down the hall to find the room that they wanted to sleep in. I was in next and I walked into the back bedroom and I just gave me the creeps from the moment I walked into it. And I thought, oh, look, I'm not sleeping in here. So I wandered down to the end of the hall, and I found the master bedroom.
Starting point is 00:36:45 And I thought, oh, good, this is where we'll be for the night. But that meant my poor son had to be in the back bedroom, mother of the year, over here. So when it was time to get him to go down to bed, he didn't want to go. He was just saying he didn't like the room. It was freaking him out. So we reassured him that everything would be fine. Eventually, we got him to sleep. And then we went off to sleep ourselves.
Starting point is 00:37:07 and I just kept looking at the doorway of our room, just getting freaked out, like feeling like something that was going to walk in there, but I eventually went to sleep too. And then not long after I'd gone to sleep, I hear pitter pat down the hall and my son's come in because he was scared. So we're getting me and he hops into the bed with us, but he leaves the door open. Again, I'm just thinking, oh, I don't like this.
Starting point is 00:37:30 I feel like something's going to come down the hall. And then eventually I go to sleep. Now, I've had a lot of dreams. I remember my dreams quite often, but this dream, it just, everything was exactly the same as the room. So the layout, my son next to me, my husband next to me, what we're wearing, it just felt very, very real. Right.
Starting point is 00:37:51 And all of a sudden, I feel something grab my leg and drag me across the bed towards the door. And I'm aware that I'm asleep and I'm trying to wake up and I'm screaming out. and I'm screaming out and screaming out and I can't move. And eventually my husband grabs me and shakes me and wakes me up and checks, like, asks me what's the matter. And I've actually, the weird thing is I've actually turned in the bed when I've woken up.
Starting point is 00:38:18 I'm on the angle. So it was really, really scary. So then the next day, nothing happened. We went on as normal, but everyone had gone out at one stage. And I remember from hearing things on podcasts that if, you just say something like you're not there to threaten anyone and you're just visiting that nothing will happen. So I thought, you know, we'll give it a try. So I just said, you know, we're just visiting. We're not here to harm you or, you know, we won't be here for long.
Starting point is 00:38:49 And then the next night, my son just magically was quite happy to go into the back room and go to bed. And we had no other issues. Look, it might be a coincidence, but everything was very quite settled after that. So yeah, that's my store. There you have it. There you have it. And you're a braver person than I am. I don't know if I would go seeking out, maybe visiting, but staying. I'm not sure if I would want to stay in a most haunted location. I might be, hey, I'll go visit and things. But in terms of staying, I don't know, I don't know if I would do that. I don't know if I would do that. But Desley, it's always a pleasure. Thank you. You deserve extra points or something for staying up late
Starting point is 00:39:32 midnight, my goodness. You said you were a little bit tired and I thought, oh, you're very fresh-faced. You look like you just woke up in the morning, so we would have never have known it. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. And thanks for telling your story again on the campfire and stay spooky. Thank you so much. Nice to see you again. Next up on the program is Sue and she's been listening for a relatively short time. But Thanks to her friend Terry up in Nova Scotia, she found out about the show. So Terry, thank you and stay spooky. And with stories like this, my goodness, how could you not stay spooky?
Starting point is 00:40:10 This is a wild one, Sue, one of those ultimate head scratchers. Tell us what happened and welcome to the show. Thanks, Jim. Yes, I don't have very many strange things that have happened to me, but this is the first and definitely the weirdest. So I was in grade three and the class was split into grade three and grade four. So grade three on one side, grade four and the others. Sometimes we had lessons together, but mostly we had lessons separate.
Starting point is 00:40:38 So on this particular day, our grade three class was quietly doing creative writing and the grade fours were doing math. So the teacher would read the question out, say number one, and then she'd have a student say the answer out loud, which would be like 42 or 100. to three. And so as they were doing this, the numbers just popped into my head. And so I started saying them a split second before the class would on the other side. And I don't know where it came from. And I was saying it quiet, but some of the students around me heard. And they were saying, you know, how did you know what that number was? I just like, I don't know. So I have to know.
Starting point is 00:41:22 it doesn't make any sense at all because, you know, maybe if the teacher had been saying the equation, but even if she was saying the equation, I wouldn't have been able to come up with the answer because I'm really bad at math. So either way, but, you know, it's a very strange thing that happened. And I always, every once in a while think about it and wondering if there's other people that have called into your show that have numbers things that happen to them. So I'm trying to remember, you were, were you in the upper, grade or the lower grade? I was in the grade three grade. I was doing the creative writing. So they were up in the upper grade. They were in the upper grade. So that's right. Not only you said you weren't particularly good at math, they were working on more sophisticated things and you were
Starting point is 00:42:09 working on anyway. You were just seeming to be receiving these from the universe. Did it occur to you that maybe you were reading somebody's mind? Well, you know, I guess it's possible. And if that was the case, which I've never been able to do since then, I would have had to read every single student that I was saying the answer out loud. So. Wow. Well, I mean, either way, whether you were like downloading it from the consciousness
Starting point is 00:42:46 of the universe or you were reading the mind of somebody else, you know, again, more sophisticated material. Math wasn't exactly your favorite subject. And you're reading these off like Einstein. Yeah. And the equation, the teacher wasn't even giving the equation. She was just saying question number one, question number two. Oh, wow. That makes it even more interesting. Yeah. Yeah. There was just no way that I could have known. And yet the numbers were popping into my So very, very strange. I do believe we have this ability to connect with other people, to connect with the universe. You know, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:43:27 I'm sure you've had it when you've had those eureka moments where you figured something out. You don't know how you figured it out. It just kind of came to it. And maybe this was one of those. It is a weird world. You said you had a little 30-second thing you wanted to tack on to the end of this. So go right ahead.
Starting point is 00:43:42 Yeah. So it's in the same kind of realm as numbers. So for the past like 20 years, I keep seeing the number 333. Mm-hmm. I'll see it on the clock during the day, during the night. I'm not a night person, so it means I wake up. I look at the clock 33. I did hear something very brief about it on coast to coast.
Starting point is 00:44:03 And I think maybe someone on Camp Fire mentioned it in regards to Robert the doll. Ooh. I don't remember the details. Yeah. I don't either. You got me there. But I will say this. We did years ago. This must be maybe 15 years ago. Marie D. Jones wrote a book about 11-11, I believe, the 11-11-11 phenomenon. Seeing 11-11. I'll look it up real quick. Yeah. Do you do, do-do-do. I'm just, folks, bear with me. I'm just looking this up real quick to see if I'm remembering correctly. Marie D. Jones, who had been on the show many times. Yeah, the, here it is 1111, the time prompt phenomenon, the meaning between mysterious sign, sequences, and synchronicities.
Starting point is 00:44:53 And my guess was pretty good. It was back in 2009. So this is a thing that people see certain numbers, certain numbers. So you're not alone. You're not alone. Sue, it is a mysterious universe that we live in, a strange universe. A lot of stuff are going on. We get these little glimpses. and thank you for sharing your glimpses with us. Stay Spooky. Thanks so much, Jim. Well, I love to hear from Repeat Callers, and Colleen from Pennsylvania is here.
Starting point is 00:45:24 Once again, we're so glad to have her back. We were discussing she's been on maybe four or five times. We're so glad to have her back on the show. And she has a very poignant, a very poignant story for us today. And we appreciate it. Colleen, welcome back and tell us your story. Thank you. love being on your show. It is my absolute favorite. Okay, so my story starts. Let me just give you the
Starting point is 00:45:47 people in the story. It is my nephew who I raised as my son. At the time he was 32 years old, he was suffering from cancer. He had leukemia. And at this time, he was allowed out of the hospital for a week or two to visit with family. Prior to that, he was hospitalized for seven months straight. I think they let him out just to obviously spend some time with family. And then, then he had to return. But while he was out, he had a hard time breathing. So his girlfriend rushed him to the hospital and called me. And of course, I got there. They got there. They immediately admitted him due to the fact he has cancer and he was unable to breathe properly. So eventually they stabilized him and I was allowed to go in the room with him and his girlfriend had left. So one
Starting point is 00:46:39 of our favorite things was he's a huge Eagles fan. I'm a huge cowboy fan and the game just happened to be on that night. So I sat for about an hour and we watched the game and our conversation was as normal as you and I are conversing right now with the exception he was deaf, but I was able to converse with him. I do no sign language. So we had a great time. And then the nurse came in and said, you know, that I had to leave because he is not well and he needed to rest. So I left and on the way home, we were texting back and forth. And the last text, he sent a picture to me and let me know, in his opinion, how much the cowboys stunk.
Starting point is 00:47:20 And he hated the cowboys, even though the cowboys won the game. I continue to text them. Yeah, I continue to text him like, you know, stay strong. I'll be back tomorrow, get some rest. And he wasn't replying at all. So I was hopeful that he had fallen asleep. So when I got there the next day, he already. his organs had started to fail.
Starting point is 00:47:42 So when your organs start to fail, obviously your brain does not function properly. And he was in and out of consciousness. He was not making sense. He really didn't know who was who. But he had sat up and he said to me, I see pop. Pops in the hall. He's waving to me. Now pop to him would be my dad, his grandfather, because Damien, like I said,
Starting point is 00:48:07 what had been my nephew. His mom was my sister. She had passed away from a drug addiction years earlier. And he's telling me, he sees my dad in the hall and my dad's waving to him. Now, we know that there's this myth that when it's your time to go, someone comes for you in your family that loves you to make the transition easier to the next place. I'm a true believer in that. And then as he was holding on to me, he was hugging me. He started to talk to his mom. Again, my sister had passed away from a drug addiction. So there's two people that have gone that he was either waving to in the hall or conversating with. So of course, because I have these little things where I could sense people that have passed, I asked my nephew, what is my dad wearing? And he explained
Starting point is 00:49:01 my dad had jeans on and his cowboy boots and this yellow short sleeve shirt. And he said, the yellow shirt, you know, the yellow shirt he wears all the time a yellow shirt. Okay, all right. So within a 12-hour period, my nephew did pass away. And that is horrible. But on the other case, when we're talking about the myth of people coming for you. So I get home. Jim and when my dad became sick he was hospitalized and he was in like a rehab care center they were taking care of him and I had to go buy my dad all new clothes and Jim I bought my dad this yellow short-sleeved shirt and he wore it all the time in rehab and my nephew never saw my father in that yellow short-sleeve shirt because my nephew already had cancer and was hospitalized.
Starting point is 00:50:05 So they never saw each other with that shirt. And Jim, where was the yellow short-sleeve shirt in my closet? When I got home to the hospital, there sat the yellow short-sleeve shirt because I brought my dad's clothes home after he had passed hanging up in my closet. Now, please tell me how my nephew knew my dad had that yellow short-sleeve shirt on when you never saw my dad with that short sleeve shirt. Never. They never had any interaction. Because he came to, he came to take him. He came to be there with him. Exactly. Exactly. So at that moment, those things that you think, well, maybe those stories, those myths, I 100% believe that is true now. 100%. Yeah. I believe a lot of things are called myths are true. Yes. I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:50:52 Now, I know that was a short story, but I thought that was so poignant. No, it's a great story. will say someone comes for you, that proved it. How would my nephew? How would he know that? It's impossible. And it's really very much kind of a cycle, a beautiful cycle of love. Thank you. I mean, kudos to you for stepping up and taking care of your nephew, who essentially
Starting point is 00:51:14 became your son. I think that is so awesome when family takes care of family in a tragic situation. But also to know that your sister came to him, your father came to him. You know, you were with him, you know, pretty much up to the end. I mean, a very sad situation. Very sad situation, but in many ways a happy situation because it shows that we go on and we will all be reunited. How awesome. How awesome. Colleen, as always, thank you for sharing us.
Starting point is 00:51:45 I think these kind of stories help people who are dealing with tragedy in their lives. We all deal with these things. And knowing this, I think, make sense. us feel much better. So thank you for sharing that on the Campfire. Thank you. Next up on the Campfire is Drew. He's been listening for a couple of years. We're so glad to have him with us. And we've been getting more UFO stories lately, which I like. And please share yours over at Jimherald.com slash Campfire. Drew, welcome to the show. This sounds like a pretty
Starting point is 00:52:16 neat one. Tell us what happened. Thank you for having me. This was around 2002, sorry, I was about nine years old And I was in a little league baseball team And at the end of the season My coach took us all out for a ice cream It was me, the whole team Some of our family members Like my mom and my sister were there
Starting point is 00:52:40 And we all Got ice cream, everything was totally fine and normal And above this sign, above the sign for the ice cream shop We all noticed it And it made no sense sound, no wind, no anything. It was a black triangle that was just hovering maybe 10 feet above this sign. And it could have been there longer than like 10 seconds, but it felt like eternity.
Starting point is 00:53:09 I mean, it's just on each tip of this triangle, it had different colored lights. It was like a one was a red light, one was blue, and then one was green. and we all saw it. And that was the thing that kind of hits home a little bit harder for me, too, is the fact that it wasn't just me that saw it. It was the whole team. And my mom and my childhood best friend who was on the team with me, I can't even still, I brought this story up to him just a little while ago.
Starting point is 00:53:45 And he said, oh, yeah, no, I told you remember the triangle hanging above the size. and it was there and then as quickly as it was there, it just disappeared. I mean, it looked kind of like when the Millennium Falcon goes into hyperspace there. Yeah. Gone. Huh. And that was kind of it. I mean, my coach made kind of a joke just to try to ease everybody up, making a reference to, like, Pokemon, if you're familiar with that at all.
Starting point is 00:54:17 Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure. I mean, saying, like, oh, that was Team Rocket blasting off, you know. But I don't, it just, I don't know, to this day, it's, it's, it's, it's probably the one moment of my life where I can say it genuinely changed my life. Seeing, seeing something like that up close and personal. Yeah. Wow. Really is, really is something. So you, do you have any, or did anybody at the time?
Starting point is 00:54:45 I mean, other than the Pokemon comment, anybody, have a special. speculation was. Do you have a speculation what it was? No, not really. Nobody really wanted to talk too much about it at the time. And I think my coach, making that joke to lighten up the mood was a big indication of like, let's try to move past this, whatever it may be. Let's get back to the celebrating. Yeah, yeah, let's get back to it. It was a good season.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Let's keep enjoying our ice cream. But ever since, like, yeah, I've looked into, apparently black triangle, Bose are fairly popular. So that was very interesting to learn. I know, because this also took place in southern New Hampshire, that region. And I've since kind of seen a theory that UFOs tend to like nuclear power plants. Yep. And there's, I don't know if it's still up and running, but in Hampton, New Hampshire, about, I don't know 40 minutes from where this took place, there have been a few UFO sightings around that nuclear power.
Starting point is 00:55:49 power plant. There was one in, also in Derry, New Hampshire, that it was seen above a lake. I think it's a rainbow lake. And of course, about an hour north was the Betty and Bondi Hill abduction. You know, so like this area kind of has a bit of a history that I had no idea until I had seen it. Yeah, pretty wild. Well, Drew, thank you so much. Thank you so much for sharing your story, I really appreciate it. And again, it is a mystery. I don't know what's going on, but there's something going on. There's definitely something going on. And I think it brings more credence when, you know, just people in their everyday lives. He said, hey, I wasn't out looking for UFOs, but there they were. Well, Drew, thank you so much for being part of the campfire. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:56:38 Thank you so much for having me. Now, Jared has been listening to the show for a while, and he said he didn't go looking for this stuff. It kind of came in and found him. He's going to tell us some incidents that have happened to him. Very unusual indeed. Jared, welcome to the show. Thank you for joining us. Tell us what happened. So I'll come back to like what happened during the day. But the evening, I was laying in my king-sized bed with my wife. And I was sound asleep. And I got the profound sensation that there was something walking on the bed in between us. Yikes. And I thought, is it the dog?
Starting point is 00:57:21 And I'm like, wait, the dog's not in here. And it was not a dream. Like, this was very real. And I could sense that something was stepping between me and my wife. But it was very small. And we'd sleep with like all the blinds completely closed, the lights off. So our room is pitch black. But the part that I can't really explain is that like I could,
Starting point is 00:57:43 kind of like, I leaned up like with my body, out of my body, I don't know, where I could sort of like see the size of the footprints. And they were maybe like two inches long. Like I could see the imprints in my awareness. So something was definitely walking back and forth. So I thought, I don't know what's going on. I don't want to interact with this. So I rolled over to the outside of the bed and then I felt something distinctly
Starting point is 00:58:19 yank on my sheet twice like hard it wasn't a ruffle it was like twice so I again I thought I don't know what that is and I rolled over the other way and again from the outside of the bed
Starting point is 00:58:33 it yanked twice huh and right so I told my mother-in-law about this and she said and right after that I instantly kind of was like nope, I'm not interacting and went right back to sleep. But it was as real as real can be. It didn't, it was not a dream.
Starting point is 00:58:50 And then I told my mother-in-law about it. And she said, well, didn't you go to Gettysburg earlier in the day? And my daughter and I had gone to Gettysburg and spent a lot of time walking around the battlefield and things like that. So she's like, you brought something back with you. Now, what I, we brought back, I have no idea. Like, the fact that it was so small. was just so odd to me.
Starting point is 00:59:16 Right. I can just imagine it as being like maybe 18 inches tall, two feet tall. I don't know. But it was a profound awareness that whatever it was had very small feet walking back and forth on the bed. That's really something. And we have had stories before about people specifically going to Gettysburg and specifically coming back with something we had one person. I think we even based the artwork of the show for it where the ghost road. back with them in the car and they saw it in the car in like the back seat which was
Starting point is 00:59:47 freaky but you said you said there were a couple of their incidents too right yeah and so then about two weeks later my wife was upstairs in our bathroom and she was doing makeup or whatever or you know face care and i was outside taking out the recycling my other daughter was in the shower. So everybody was off like doing their own thing. And as I step back into the house, I hear my wife say, Jared, where are you with the tone of like my wife like I'm in trouble? And I was like, I just came in from outside. Like, what are you talking about? She's like, you need to come upstairs right now. So I came upstairs and she said, I was tweezing my eyebrows in the mirror. And she's like, I saw this out of the corner of my eye come flying into the bathroom, bounced off the wall and landed.
Starting point is 01:00:41 And it was like the eraser when you replace an eraser when a pencil's worn down. And you put it on the little prism. And she was like, you didn't throw this in the bathroom? And I was like, no, it's outside. And our other daughter was in the shower. And she's like, this just came launching into our room and bounced off the wall and landed. So it freaked her out enough that she said, don't leave the room while I shower. So I waited for her to shower.
Starting point is 01:01:07 It genuinely freaked her out. And then a week later. I was home. One of my daughters was in her bathroom in the shower. And I said goodbye. And she yelled from the shower by. I was heading to work. And then I said goodbye to my other one. And I hear a voice say, I'm downstairs. And in hindsight, it didn't sound like my youngest daughter's voice, but it was a distinct female voice of like teenage age. So I thought, huh, she's downstairs. So I went downstairs to the kitchen, packing up my lunch and look in the dining room. She's not there. I look in the living room. not there. And then I go outside and her car's gone. So I called her and I said, where are you?
Starting point is 01:01:46 She's like, I'm at work. And I was like, what? Like I just heard you say I'm downstairs. So all three of those things happen within like four weeks at our house. And I've never had anything like that happened before. And so I don't know. I don't know if it's related to Gettysburg or what happened. So you didn't do anything afterwards though to make it stop like you didn't do a cleansing or some people do, you know, different kind of rituals and incantations. You just let it play out and it just kind of dissipate it out. But it's interesting that it happens right after. And again, we have people who have gone to Gettysburg, who have specifically come back
Starting point is 01:02:25 and had weird stuff happen. So you're not alone. You're not alone. No. But I am open to my mother-in-law is very matter-of-fact about this kind of thing. And she's like, you just need to ask him like, hey, why are you here? What do you need? I don't know if I can help.
Starting point is 01:02:41 help you? Yeah. Right. Yeah. So I've lived in this house 24 years and never had anything like that happened before. Well, hopefully they got the hint and got out. Jared, thank you so much for joining us. I love these stories where you don't go looking for the supernatural.
Starting point is 01:03:00 It comes and finds you. Thank you for sharing your story. Stay spooky. Stay spooky. Thank you. Well, she's been listening for about 10 years and she's here to. tell her story. And it's interesting. It's a head scratcher. It's a particularly specific kind of head scratcher that we've talked about many times over the years. I find him fascinating.
Starting point is 01:03:24 Quinn, welcome to the show and tell us what happened. Thanks for listening all these years. Yeah, absolutely. So this happened to me earlier this summer. And for a background context, essentially, I had a friend of mine give me a gift as sort of a belated birthday slash graduation gift and included kind of at the bottom of this gift bag was a kind of funny looking little doll. And when I asked her about it, she said that she picked it up at a thrift store and she picked it up because it just looked kind of cursed. And she was like, I thought of you and yeah, I wanted to give you a cursed object. Now that's with friends like that. No, I'm just kidding. When I even have it here today. Oh, it even looks a little creepy, a little creepy.
Starting point is 01:04:08 It's a little strange. And so my friend said, that she'd been holding on to it for about a month, and some weird things were happening ever since she got the doll. So she said to me, I'm pretty sure that this might actually be haunted. Would you like me to try and smudge it before you bring it home, or would you like to keep the ghost with the doll? And as someone who's generally more skeptic, I was kind of like, you know, I'll just take it as it is and see what happens
Starting point is 01:04:35 because I didn't expect anything to actually happen. So then about two weeks later, I am coming home from work and I was very intentional that Friday coming home from work to put my keys on the hook near the door, which is something that I have a really bad habit of not doing. And so I managed it this week and then proceeded to go about my weekend. It was actually the first weekend that I'd had in a really long time where I hadn't had anything to do. So I basically was just in my house from Friday to Monday morning. And long story short, it gets to be about Sunday afternoon at around 12 or so, and my husband was doing some laundry or getting some stuff done in our bedroom. And he comes out and he tells me, you know, hey, I just actually found this pair of jeans that I had not seen for maybe about two years. And I thought that they were just gone or lost or like maybe I donated them or something. But when I went to put them on to try them on, there was a pair of keys in the back pocket. And I don't know what these are for. So he hands me this pair of keys.
Starting point is 01:05:38 And I'm looking at them and I remember thinking to myself, whoa, these look just like my office keys for this job that I just started a few months ago. And on my couch, I'm sitting on my couch reading a book or something. And I even remember looking over at the door where my lanyard with all of my keys was still hanging and it had been hanging all weekend. Right. And so when I'm trying to logic this out, in my mind, I'm thinking, okay, well, there's no way that these could be my keys. keys because my keys are hanging up there and they have been all weekend and we haven't gone anywhere at all this weekend. So, you know, I'm trying to parse this out. And my current job is in the same town as essentially, I used to work for my mother-in-law and she had a building that she owned.
Starting point is 01:06:21 And so we had sets of keys and things to the building. So in my mind, my logic is, okay, maybe we use the same locksmith. And so that would explain why these keys are in your back pocket. So I tell them, you know, just throw them away. We don't need them. If we haven't used them for two years they don't matter. Well, come to find out. So the next morning I get up and I go to work and I'm standing right in front of my office door and I look down at my key ring and I go, oh, my keys are gone. They're definitely gone.
Starting point is 01:06:53 So I had to go back in my car, drive home and they were, in fact, my keys for my office. That is weird. That is really weird. Super strange And it's funny because I didn't tell my husband about the doll when I got it because he tends to be more frightened of the paranormal
Starting point is 01:07:13 than I am so I figured it would start more of a fight than it would be worth but after that I was like you know it's just kind of funny because about two weeks ago you know my friend that I visited she gave me this doll that she said was haunted and things started going missing
Starting point is 01:07:29 around the same time that she got it and now this happened And he was like, you got to have something done about the doll. So we did smudge it. But she kept the doll. You kept the doll. It did keep the doll. Interesting.
Starting point is 01:07:44 You know, there was a book years ago that we had on the paranormal podcast, I think it was, about J-O-T-T, just one of those things. The author was Mary Rose Barrington. We talked about numerous times on this show. And basically, the premise was about situations just like. that where things turn up in odd places for no reason and she felt there was kind of a paranormal explanation to it. J-O-T-T. So we've had a lot of those stories over the years. And I think there's a, I'm not 100% sure, but I think we have a guest coming up who's done a book on a similar topic that gets into that. So it's one of these weird things. I mean,
Starting point is 01:08:24 it seems like you're a pretty, quote, logical, unquote person. And do you have pretty much rolled out any logical explanation? Yeah, I mean, when it first happened, I joked that it was the doll more or less just because of the funny coincidence in timing. But I've definitely over the summer been thinking and trying to figure out exactly how this could have happened. And I just, all of the elements of it are just too funny and strange. None of it can be pieced together logically because I just didn't leave the house. The keys were hanging up the whole time. And I have no idea how they could have gotten into his pockets. I've even tried to ask him, like, you know, did you borrow my keys or, you know, whatever? And he swears, he's like, no, why would I do that?
Starting point is 01:09:09 He's got his own car, you know? So I have no clue. Well, Quinn, you know, I've come to this conclusion. The most logical thing sometimes is to discern that some things just aren't logical. And that's, and what it is, we don't know, but there's something. Quinn, thank you for being on the show. thanks for listening for 10 years and stay Spokey. Thanks, you too. She's been a loyal listener. She is here. She is Kirsten.
Starting point is 01:09:38 We're so glad to have her. And she's going to tell us all about the little people, the little people. Kirsten, welcome to the show. Can't wait to hear this story about the little people. Well, thank you for having me. I'm so excited to be here. So I guess I'll start off by saying I'm Native American. and our tribe is called Prairie Band Potawatomi, and they're out of Mayetta, Kansas. Now, we're from Texas,
Starting point is 01:10:06 so we would travel up to Kansas about once a year. And this particular year, it was me, my dad, my Misho, and my cousin, Dathan. And we had traveled up to Mayetta to do some powwows and just hang out. And we had already been warned that the little people were pretty active, you know, kind of stay out of, it's called Little People's Park, and it's right by where my Aunt Joy lives, and she lives on the reservation. So we had already been warned, but we're like, you know, we're just going to go see the Buffalo. Let me, let me ask you a question real quick. The little people. So for those may be not familiar, who are the little people you're referring to? So I had asked my dad, because I had really known a
Starting point is 01:10:56 exactly what they are. And he made it basically sound like long ago there was a Native American man that had like taken these little people in as like his, not slaves, but just he was their boss. And if they would get punished, he would send them out to the woods until they could do better. And eventually they just got tired of, of that and just eventually just stayed out there and now they just recat it. It's like a rebellion. That's pretty much, you know, Yes, and there's another name for him. I'm just, my dad's like, don't say it. It's bad ju-ju to say it.
Starting point is 01:11:32 So you want to Google it or I can. That's all right. That's okay. We don't any bad, bad vibes going. But go ahead, continue your story. I just wanted to, because some people may not be familiar with that tradition. Just want to get that in there. But go ahead with your story.
Starting point is 01:11:45 They're just little, little heathens that cause chaos on the reservation. So we had went up to look at the Buffalo, and they're held in by like an electric fence. And my dad, my Michelle's truck was a GM Sierra. So when you would put the car or the truck in the park, you would automatically unlock so you could get out of the truck. And we had gotten out of the truck and my dad was driving and he had left the driver's side door open. And we were all standing in front of the truck. And the truck was parked. It wasn't a hill, but it wasn't inclined. Okay. So if it was going to go anywhere, it was going to go backwards, not forwards. So we're all sitting there, you know, looking at.
Starting point is 01:12:26 at the Buffalo having a good time, and all of a sudden my dad just starts freaking out. And I look up and I turn around and the truck is rolling at us. Oh, Lord. And there's nobody in the truck, okay? So me and my cousin step out of the way and my Michelle has his hands on the truck, like trying to, I don't know what he was doing, trying to stop the truck. And my dad had ran and he had tripped. And he hit his knee on the door and he had to jump in and stop the truck like with his
Starting point is 01:12:54 hand on the brake. And I asked him, I said, was a truck, did it go out of park? Like, what? He's like, no, it was in park. It just was rolling, rolling uphill. About to smack us right into that electrical fence. Wow. It was crazy.
Starting point is 01:13:14 And, yeah. So do you think it was the little people doing that havoc? I do because, like I said, there was nobody in the truck. And if it was going to go, anywhere it went, would have went backwards. You know, if it was in, if my dad just happened and not put it in park or, you know, left it neutral or something, it would roll backwards, not forwards. So we went back to my Goya Joy's house and we told her and she's like, yeah, I warned you about those little people.
Starting point is 01:13:43 And it's interesting because different cultures have different traditions about little people. We talked to someone not too long ago in the Philippines. We've talked to people in Ireland. There seems to be something about these little menacing little people that are going about. And it seems like, ah, come on. That's old-time fairy tales. But then you have a story like this, that they may be with us today. They may be with us very much today.
Starting point is 01:14:14 Yeah. Very interesting. You know, it sounds unbelievable, but it happened. And it was crazy. I believe it happened. and I believe it happened. It's just what I said. The one thing that I conclude from this show,
Starting point is 01:14:27 I don't really have any answers, but the world is a heck of a lot stranger than we give it credit for. And there's unseen things, Kirsten, that we don't understand. And far be it for me to say, ah, it was just a, you know, no, it could have very well been the little people
Starting point is 01:14:44 creating all this havoc. And thank goodness your dad had the, you know, the wherewithal to go and stop that truck. Yeah. He got there with his hand right in the driver's side. But even at night, you know, they warn you don't go to people's part. So, you know, that's when they're most active. But for some reason, they were really active even during the day.
Starting point is 01:15:04 So at this particular time. So we learn our lesson. Don't mess with the little people. Kirsten, thank you so much for being on the show. I appreciate it. And stay spooky. Stay spooky, Jim. Thank you.
