Welcome to the Elevated Results podcast. Thank you again for co-elevating with me. Let's talk about
finding work-life balance. That is something that people strive for their whole career, is how do you
integrate balance? How do you excel in your career, get awesome results, but also enjoy the other
aspects of life and have balance. It's something that I learned the hard way, which many entrepreneurs
do in real estate. By the time I was 25, I completely burned myself out. First thing I used to do
when I woke up in the morning was look at my phone. I was constantly in the grind mode of being
at the need of everybody else. I never knew what it was like to be present. I never knew what it was like
to take care of myself first before everyone else. And I heard a quote once and it really resonated
with me. When you first wake up in the morning and the first thing you do is you open up your phone,
you check your emails, you check your text messages. It's like you're inviting 100 people into your
bedroom first thing in the morning before you've been brushed your teeth before you've
even washed your face you would never do that so why are you doing that with your phone
why are you allowing everyone else to bombard you before you even had a moment to be present and
grounded with yourself so the first thing is is often we learn the hard way we're human beings
we can learn from what other people do or we learn the hard way ourselves and I remember when I
hit my burnout was when I was 25 years old and all I had did for the first several years in my
career was work. That was what drove me and I love the real estate industry. I loved my clients,
but it burned me out. I was miserable. I wasn't happy. I was unfulfilled. Like Tony Robbins always says,
success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure. I wasn't happy. So what is life if you're
making all this money? You're successful, but you're not enjoying the present moment. You're not able to
have balance in your life. And that's where I went down that journey of really trying to integrate,
figuring out a way to have balance between work and my own life so that when I showed up at work
I was able to have more action I was able to show up and execute better because I was reset I was
rested I was charged the other aspects of my life were balanced and I'd be lying if I said I
completely have it figured out because it is all about balance and sometimes we go through
different phases in our life when one area is doing really good and then the other area is
suffering like when your career you're crushing it often your relationships get pushed away
or often your self-care.
So it's really about integrating a ritual and a routine
that's going to be balanced for you.
So there's some simple steps
that we're going to talk about today
about finding balance in your work and your personal life,
really being able to maintain that balance.
So the first one is your phone.
Set some boundaries when it comes to your phone,
working hours.
So as entrepreneurs is working for yourself,
you're self-employed, your results are a reflection
of the actions you put in.
But that does not mean,
that you have to be available 24-7. No other businesses available 24-7. Why should you be? And that was
something that I again learned the hard way is as a realtor lawyers don't work past five o'clock.
Banks don't work past five o'clock. So why am I working till 11 p.m. every night? Why am I answering
calls at 6 a.m.? It's not right. You need to set boundaries. So the first thing I did was I started
setting a rule and it was only 9 to 9. I don't answer my phone before 9 a.m. and I don't answer it past 9 p.m.
unless obviously I'm negotiating a deal or it's an emergency,
but I set those parameters that before 9 a.m., that's my time.
After 9 p.m., that's time for me to unplug and recharge.
If it's an emergency, of course, you're going to deal with it.
But then that took away that annoying feeling,
because sometimes when you're always on and people are always able to get a hold of you,
you almost start to feel overstimulated sometimes.
And that's not doing your client to service.
That's doing a disservice.
You want to show up as the best version of you.
So that's one thing that you can start integrating in your business.
is set a boundary. Don't answer the phone unless it's an emergency after a certain time.
Set working hours. And within those working hours, be more effective with your time. Be more on
and you can show up for your clients even better. So that's the first one. One simple step.
Set a boundary of working hours. Don't answer your phone. The second one is the ritual in the
morning. So take that time every morning to really focus on yourself first. Get grounded.
Become the version of you that you want to be throughout the rest of the day because if you set
the pace of the day, you're going to own your day. But if you don't, your day is going to own you.
So it's the first thing. Wake up, have some kind of a ritual. Everybody has a different ritual.
Some people like to drink coffee. Other people like to work out. Figure out what your ritual is.
What gets you in that peak state? What makes you the best version of you? And make sure you
set that time aside. Now that's a huge piece. Schedule in yourself and your self-care,
your workouts, just like you schedule in anyone else. Just like you schedule in your work
appointments, schedule yourself in. Take that time. So what did I do in my calendar? Right away,
I started scheduling my workouts. And if clients are like, well, that's the only time I can go look.
I would say soar I'm in another appointment. And obviously, again, if it's an emergency,
sometimes you pivot. But for the most part, it really just set that boundary and it made me
consistent that I'm important, that this is important. This is a scheduled meeting. This time is
what I'm going to focus on to be fueled to go show up and be in a better state for the rest of
my day, which is going to allow you to get better results throughout your business. So schedule
yourself in. Take your calendar right now. Go schedule in your workouts for the next seven days,
for the next 30 days. Go schedule them. Schedule in your morning rituals. Put it in there like anyone
else because you deserve that time just like anybody else does. So schedule yourself in.
And then same thing with your kids. If you're in the real estate industry, you work a lot of
evenings and weekends. That's hard. You know what? We work around other people's schedules.
But schedule your family in. Schedule those important things in. You have to
to make sure that you're able to still show up in the other aspects of your life.
And again, I learned that the hard way.
I learned that from older agents when I'd go to different conferences.
They'd always tell me that they were on their second or third marriage.
And the advice they would give me is focus on your family.
Don't always put work first because otherwise your family goes on the back burner and all
you do is work's not going to be there when you die, but your family is.
Your work's not going to remember you, but your friends and family are those memories are going to
be there. So it's schedule that in, schedule your family and make sure that those
commitments are there and then have a plan, have a plan in place. If you're like me,
my clients are my family, they are my friends. I want to make sure that I give them the best
service. So set up a process or a system that's going to allow you to do that.
That's going to allow your clients to be taken care of at the highest caliber,
even if you're not there sometimes. So that's the third piece is set up a team. Get a team,
get help, collaborate with other people.
Maybe you're in the real estate industry and you have a team.
That's great.
Now you know the power of being able to rely on someone else to help each other,
to collaborate, to create a schedule, to have some kind of balance in your life.
And if you don't have that or that's not something that aligns with your goals,
look at the different automations that you can utilize in your business
that are going to make you more effective with your time.
So that the time you do have, you can focus on work, you're more effective.
And then you can delegate some of those actions that you would,
would be doing every evening and weekend, you can outsource that to either someone else or automate
it. We live in the AI age, you guys. There's technology for everything. Start bringing it into your
business. And if you don't know how, outsource somebody that can help you to set up those systems and
those processes, because that's how you're going to be able to take your time back. That's how you're
going to be able to leverage and scale your business while still keeping that time for yourself,
to have that balance within your own life, to show up for the people that love you, to show up
your kids to do the things that fulfill you, that motivate you, that inspire you to be a better
version of yourself. And that's where it comes into passion. And then the next piece is you can
bring that into your business by shifting your mindset of that you have to go to work, that you get
to go to work. Start bringing the gratitude aspect into your business into everything you do.
Instead of feeling like you have to do something, you get to show up today. You get to wake up
today which a lot of other people don't get to do you get to wake up you get to go to work you get to
turn your passion into a profit you get to create something so start looking at it in a different lens
the hours you are there be grateful you have an opportunity and show up and then take the actions
and so when you start to do the things that fulfill you you can show up in a more fulfilled way
you show up more in alignment you show up as the best version of you and everybody energetically
wants to be around you. So if you're in the industry of people, which most people are in business,
is again, energy. Everything is energy. So if we show up and we're in a great energetic state,
we attract people. And my business partner and I always say we have the nicest clients. We're so
lucky. We have the nicest clients. And then sometimes we look at each other and we're like,
but we're nice. We attract that. So again, we are a reflection of that. So if you're not liking
the energy that's coming back to you, change your energy. Change it into your business. And
business and start to see how things shift and how things change. So there's some very simple steps
for you there on how you can start to integrate work-life balance and start to fulfill the other
areas of your life because again we only get one life. So you want to live your life to the fullest.
You want to go all out in your business because we are the creators of our life. We are the creators
of our business. So use this as an opportunity. Take this as a time that you get to take a step
back. Start being a little bit more aware of what you want to create. What is work-life balance look
and mean to you? Everybody's different. I know what I want in my life, so I wrote it out. I got clear on
what work-life balance looks like to me. What does that mean? What do I want? And then how am I going to do it?
Because again, the first piece is clarity. We always have to be clear on what is it that we want.
Even when you're setting a goal, clarity is number one. Get clear. What do you want to accomplish? What do you
want to bring to fruition. And then the second piece is again always the certainty, the knowing that
you're able to do it. So start cultivating that certainty within yourself. And then the strategy,
how are you going to do it? How are you going to take that vision you just wrote for your work
life balance? And how are you going to integrate it into your life into your business? What do you
need to outsource? Who do you need to bring in to start helping you to have that balance in your
life to show up at work and have a work life balance what in who do you need to bring into your
business figure out the how figure out the strategy and then take the actions so then you've already
got a clear plan of what you're going to do how you're going to start integrating work life balance
into your life and then take the action take one step all you have to do is take one step
and that could be integrating those simple steps that i just told you earlier setting boundaries with
your phone set work hours create a morning ritual ground yourself first
before you show up to work.
Collaborate, get a team,
or integrate different innovative technologies
to help you outsource,
to help you delegate the things that you don't wanna do
or that are time wasters.
So you can take that time back
and put it into the other areas of your life
to start living a fulfilled life.
Because again, this is how you elevate your life.
This is how you elevate your business.
Become the creator of it.
So go elevate your life, go elevate your business,
and elevate your results while maintaining a work life
balance.
