KGCI: Real Estate on Air - How Personal Branding Creates Clients Without Cold Calling or Chasing
Episode Date: March 27, 2026Summary:This episode explores how personal branding serves as a silent system for generating leads without the need for cold calling or aggressive chasing. The host clarifies that branding is... not just about logos or headshots, but rather the "experience" and trust a person builds with an audience before they ever meet. Agents will learn why consistency over time is the only way to make branding compound, ultimately allowing their online presence to handle the "salesy" parts of a transaction before a client even picks up the phone

Welcome to the Real Estate Survival Guide, the show that teaches realtors how to create a thriving real estate business.
What is up, guys? Welcome back to the Real Estate Survival Guide podcast.
Hope you guys are doing well. Hope, as we are a couple weeks into 2026, your year is off to a great start and your business is off to a great start this year.
Excited to jump into it with you guys today. And if you listen to last week, last week,
week's episode, we talked all about why most realtors fail their goals by February. And this episode
is a direct continuation of that conversation. Last week, we talked about how goals fail when they
rely on motivation instead of systems. And today, I want to talk about one of the most misunderstood
systems in real estate. And that is your personal branding. I let a call with the Carbon Collective
a couple of weeks ago about this. And I, I'll have a call.
firmly believe that your personal branding needs to be one of the biggest things in your business.
Because when personal branding is done the right way, it quietly creates clients automatically
without chasing them, without pressure, and without feeling salesy. You know, I had somebody
reach out to me today as I'm recording this and they basically were ready to take their next step
in their business by partnering with me at EXP Realty. Well, why? They, they messaged me and
and talked about the wolf pack.
Well, why?
Because I talk about it all the time.
It's in my branding.
If you watch my YouTube videos,
you see the icon trophy
and the wolf behind me.
It is all branding.
And this person wanted to align with that.
And when most realtors hear the word personal brand,
they immediately think about logos,
colors, headshots,
or trying to look a certain way.
That's not necessarily what I'm talking about today.
Personal branding is not how you look.
Personal branding is how people,
experience you before they ever meet you, right? It is what they believe about you before they
ever talk to you. And that belief is what determines whether they trust you, reach out to you,
and eventually choose to work with you. So let's talk about this real quick in two ways, right?
You know, I kind of have two sides of my business with the client side, people buying and selling,
but also the agent attraction piece where people like this agent today come to me because
they know, like, and trust me online from my presence. I shared with you guys a few weeks ago
how a buyer who has actually made offers already and will probably be in a house over the next
couple months came to me and said, oh, we should trust John, the real estate guru. Well, why do they
say that? That's all branding. That comes from my branding online that I didn't know this necessarily,
but I come across like apparently the guru. What I wanted to do was make sure I come across as
educated and informative and wanting to help.
And so when you do this, personal branding brings you business.
With the Asian attraction piece, I wear the wolf pack gear.
I'm so excited about it.
I have the wolf hat, the wolf shirt, the wolf, whatever.
I joke with people that I have wolf underwear.
I'm just kidding, though.
Like, that stuff shows that I'm so passionate about a brand.
No, I'm not going to force it down your throat.
No, I'm not going to beg you to come and join us.
No, I'm not going to cold call you.
No, I'm not going to be in your inbox asking about, you know, my lord and savior
EXP as people joke about. I'm not, but the personal branding with me and the wolf stuff is attractive
to people and that's why they come to me. So I want you to make an important connection.
Okay. Last week, I said that revenue is a lagging indicator of what we are doing in our business
and how, you know, when you post on social media, you're not going to see the effects of that
for months, sometimes years.
Personal branding works the exact same way.
You do not post something or have a wolf in your background or whatever it is.
I don't care if your team's named after an elephant.
It doesn't matter to me.
But if you have branding in there, people make a connection to you.
You know, I think about Dutch, who's under me here at EXP and he came probably six months ago.
Well, Dutch got a really cool license plate for his car.
He actually has a SUV that looks like one of those police crew.
cruisers. So I've been with him a few places and been like, who's this cop pulling up behind me?
But it's just Dutch and his wolf front plate. Well, guess what? He has had clients ask about it.
Okay. He does the branding and it builds trust over time. Most realtors quit personal branding
too early because they are looking for instant results instead of long-term momentum. And we've
talked about that. We talked about that last week. Personal branding, just like social media,
only works if you what guys if you give it time if you allow it to compound okay people do not wake up
and want to be sold they wake up wanting clarity when they are thinking about buying or selling
or changing brokerages or whatever they don't want you to pitch or sell them they want to look
and find you through social media online in person all those things and feel comfortable with you
they want to build that no like and trust when you consistently show up online sharing your
perspective, your experiences, and your honesty, people begin to feel like they know you.
And then we've talked about this right by the time they contact you. The salesy, quote unquote,
salesy part of the conversation has already been done. You don't have to sell them. Your honesty
and your realness on social media has already won them over for you. I had someone last week,
I believe I shared this with you guys, call me, or I guess it was a Facebook message.
And a few realtors had reached out from a post she made.
I was one of them.
She called me and, you know, we got scheduled time to get on the phone Saturday, whatever it was.
She said she interviewed six or eight realtors or whatever.
And she was going to work with me.
She knew that from the start.
And I said, how?
And she said, I just love your social media and your personal branding there and how real and authentic you are.
Right.
So real and authentic.
The reason that most realtors think personal branding doesn't work is because they treat it like a
campaign. Okay, I'm going to do this for 30 days, 90 days, whatever. I want you to treat it like a
system. I don't want you to just post consistently for a few weeks and then quit when you don't
see immediately results. I want you to keep working at it. I want your personal branding to
keep working for you. We've talked about this. I've had people reach out from years ago.
I don't hear from them for not, it's not days, it's not weeks, it's months and years. And that
personal branding on social media reels them in.
And that's what personal branding creates when it's done consistently over time.
If you want personal branding to work for you and create clients, you know, when you're
sleeping, when you're at a meeting, and that's the cool part about social media, here's what
actually matters.
I want you to be consistent.
Consistency matters more than perfection and, oh, my goodness, the most creative post.
Clarity and what your target audience is and your avatar.
Go watch the video on YouTube about this.
That matters more than perfection.
And connection, serving people in a genuine way, matters more than performance.
You do not need to go viral.
I've never gone viral in my life.
The biggest thing I ever posted was probably at 3,000 views.
But it is the consistency that works.
You don't need to go viral.
You need to be visible.
And you need to stay visible.
in front of people long enough for trust to build.
Now, next week we're going to take this conversation one step deeper.
But if personal branding is the system,
storytelling is the mechanism that makes it work.
And we will be talking about that next week
and how stories build trust faster than just posts
and how storytelling turns awareness into action.
So if you want people to feel connected to you
instead of just informed by you,
that episode will.
matter. As always, I really appreciate you guys for listening to the podcast and also watching the
YouTube channels. And I really want to help you. If you, you know, maybe you haven't watched
the YouTube channel, but you really should this week and kind of we talked a few weeks ago
about how we're going to have themes. Our video on Monday was talking about how personal
branding can create clients automatically and why realtors fail to build a personal brand.
Right. And then on Friday on the YouTube channel, we will talk about how consistency beats every single algorithm, every single one.
