Now, I'm sure you've all experienced this.
You wake up in the morning and you go, I just don't have energy for this particular day.
And one day becomes two days, becomes a week.
Then a week becomes two weeks, becomes a month.
And then you start getting into these habits whereby, while I was going through this,
I suddenly thought to myself.
But hey, Stuart, how do you get that motivation every single morning?
and I started to reflect on myself, what are the activities that I do?
What are the things that really gets me up in the morning to go forward?
And I thought, hey, this will be a great way to share it with you
on how to actually get that motivation every single day.
Now, there's five little parts to this that I would like to actually share with you.
And really, as we go through each one of these different paths or these sections, you must reflect, are you doing it?
Can I do this?
Because I know you can.
So the very first one is you've actually got to find your, what we like to call our intrinsic motivators.
These are things that are within you.
These are things that really, they just keep you going.
and they can actually be quite hard to identify what they are.
So I want to just share with you a couple of things where you can actually stop identifying these motivators.
And the first one is what is your passion and purpose in life?
And it is so important to break that down.
What are you passionate about?
What is your purpose in whatever your profession is or what if you do on a day-to-day basis?
Because when you start aligning your passion, what you really, you just want to do this every single day to a certain activity in a specific day, man, it just like you get the energy, you get motivation because you want to do it.
You see, there's an underlying reason.
It's not that somebody saying you have to do it.
It's you want to do it.
Why?
Because you're passionate about it.
So sit down, have a look at all.
the areas in your life that you're passionate about.
And see how you can align those to achieving those daily activities to achieve your goal.
The second is then driving it with the values of what you believe in.
You see, when you've got that purpose and that passion, understanding your values,
which is really my value could be family.
It could be freedom.
If you're taking those particular values
and you're starting to attach that to the activities
that you're going to be doing every single day,
is that in alignment to my values?
Because if it is,
you will automatically start to see a level of self-motivation
starting to grow every single morning.
And when you're actually creating all of these,
whether it's your passion, your purpose and your values,
which really is a self-discovery,
there's one key element to this.
And this, it almost sounds so obvious,
but you need to have a goal.
Really, you need to have that goal
that you're going to be working towards
because this is a huge part of it.
You've got that passion, purpose,
you're lining it to your values and you're saying,
this is great, but those particular activities
ultimately are they moving to your goal?
Have you actually taken the time to sit down and say, hey, you know what?
This is the goal that I want to do in my life.
This is what I want to achieve, whether it's personally or whether it's professionally,
this is what I want to achieve.
Have you actually done that?
Because if you haven't, well, it's a great time for you to start right now,
is to sit down and self-discover those smart goals so that you can go forward.
So the first is you need to find those motivators.
It's purpose.
It is your passion.
It is those values that you believe in.
But ultimately, they're going to put you on alignment to the goals that you've actually put up and make sure that you actually get them.
The second is something that I got to experience many, many years ago.
And I started to resist it at one stage.
And unfortunately, as soon as I started to.
resist this, I felt my motivation levels used to just almost diminish. Now, what is it that I'm
talking about? It's what I refer to as a growth mindset. It's a mindset that you want to grow as an
individual. You want to learn a new skill. You want to get more knowledge into your actual system.
So cultivating that growth mindset really gives you that whole, that desire to go on.
In fact, something amazing starts to happen when you've got a growth mindset.
In fact, it starts giving energy through to your subconscious,
to your brain to the near cortex.
And ultimately, it actually starts to give the self-motivation.
I now set myself a goal every single day to learn one thing new.
Now, here's the crazy thing.
It doesn't have to always be related to the business that I'm in.
It could be something as simple as learning to bake a cake or learning how to break an egg
with having a shell land in the oil when I want to make a fried egg.
It could be something as simple as that.
So have that growth mindset when you're going forward.
Now, when we start looking at the growth mindset, there are a couple of little pointers
to give you some guidance here.
And the first one is making sure that if you had set up,
yourself a growth mindset to develop your skills and knowledge to a level of mastery.
Don't set yourself this timeline that you want to do it in a week. Do it in a timeline that is
realistic to what your capabilities are. And when you start doing that, you'll find each and every
day, start learning little bits. Have that growth mind to move forward towards that every single
day to achieve it. And what actually happens is the educational factor that you put into your
body, it gives it straight back to you. It's almost like eating. It gives you the energy to go out
and run to actually wake up and walk around. So giving that fuel for your brain actually gives you a great
way to give you that little bit of mindset.
So the second one is start cultivating that growth mindset.
Set yourself that goal, hey, you know what?
I just want to learn something new every single day.
Now, the third is something that we can either get into a good or a bad behavior.
And we're actually referring this to habits.
You need to start looking at the habits.
your daily habits that you do every single day.
Because your daily habits could be negative habits.
In fact, they could be habits that's actually reducing your motivation every single day.
So habits like getting up in the morning and going straight into social media and then spending two, three hours, just swiping through social media.
And then starting to say, well, hey, let me go and watch.
something on the television or watch something on my computer.
See, these type of habits, if you start doing them every single day, ultimately what's
going to happen is this going to start to lower your motivation to do those activities
to get close to your goal unless your goal is social media and watching movies, which
I doubt it.
So you need to make sure that you start to drive these powerful habits every single day that
move you closer.
Now, don't start large.
Start small with these particular habits.
Identify the good habits and see how you can replace them with small positive habits.
Small habits that's going to get you going forward.
Habits like, you know what, I'm going to wake up in the morning and I'll do some exercise.
Maybe I'll wake up in the morning and I'll have an affirmation, something positive to drive me.
Maybe I'll wake up in the morning and give some gratitude to the
people around me. You see, there's small habits that you can do to replace those negatives of
habits every single day. And I always, when I'm working with clients in building habits,
it's easier to build these habits in the morning. Start it in the morning and let it build
throughout the day. So don't start looking at your evening habits and wanting to start there.
And the reason for it is you've done a full day of work.
You are fatigued.
To continue with those particular habits is going to become a challenge.
So start in the mornings when you're fresh and start those new habits and slowly start building them throughout the day.
In fact, what we do is when we start early in the morning from the minute you wake up, right through until you get to the office, right through to you go to that first tea break or maybe even lunch.
we start creating these habits.
And ultimately what we also do is we start stacking our habits.
What you will find is one habit will lead to the next habits.
So for instance, you might want to do exercises.
Now going out and just running might be a great way for you to actually start building up that motivation.
But how do you get the motivation to go out running every single day, especially when it's cold?
Well, it could start out in the morning that you actually just put on your running shoes.
You see, by putting on your running shoes, you suddenly feel, hey, I'm getting into that motion.
Then it's a matter of saying, well, I just need to go through to the actual driveway or go through to the actual road.
So that will be my next habit.
It's just a simple habit of walking.
Now, in that way, you could actually say, well, every single morning, I need to take out the rubbish.
So I've got my walking shoes on.
I pick up the rubbish and I go out to the outside dustbin, put it into the actual dustbin,
and that's now starting to create that new habit.
It's a good habit.
It's moving closer to, well, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning the house, but moving you closer
to getting to running.
So you can see by stacking certain habits, they actually help you to get into this actual
routine and growth.
So the third one is building this momentum of these daily habits and start in the morning.
It is so, so important to actually go through.
there. Now the fourth one is actually a daily practice which starts to ignite that inner spark.
And I alluded a little bit to it in creating habits. And one of the habits that I like to work
with clients is positive affirmations. It's also giving gratitude. You see, positive affirmations
is a powerful way for you to start your day and get that subconscious mind to believe in those
particular words.
And there's a process that we go by when we're actually working with affirmations.
It's not just saying it once.
It's actually repeating it over and over again.
And remember, it must be shortened to the point, but it's got to have that feeling inside of you.
So every morning, create.
those positive affirmations. In fact, when you're starting it out, you can even write it on a piece of paper and put it on the bathroom mirror.
So when you're going into the bathroom in the morning, you see it, you read it, and then you read it again, and then you read it again.
Then you have it in your head and your mindset and you repeat it over and over again.
And what you'll find, that'll start to just give you that drive.
And there's certain affirmations that are so inspiring by just reading them once,
It makes you want to actually read them again and again and again.
The second is the gratitude.
This is something where, and it breaks down to something very, very straightforward and simple.
It's the pleases and it's the thank you.
It's those two very simple categories.
If you start to put that gratitude in, here's the most amazing thing that actually happens.
People start giving it back to you.
Please, could I have the sugar and somebody gives you the sugar and that's a positive.
Thank you for giving me the sugar and they give you a smile. They give you a recognition.
And it's amazing. Those little, little nuances starts to motivate you because when you are surrounded by the positive people, you're going to find that you start to become positive and the motivation starts to climb.
So the fourth one is to actually practice what we refer to as the inner spark.
This is what you've got control over and there's something that you can go forward with.
Remember, you want to create it as a habit in the morning.
And in fact, the gratitude, it's going to continue throughout the actual day.
So have that as your fourth one.
Now, the last one.
And the last one is something where really you need to find inspiration that is around you.
Now, let me quick clarify.
motivation and inspiration.
You see, inspiration is something that drives you to move forward on a continual basis,
where motivation just gets you to do the action.
So ultimately, we're looking to get the motivation for you to do the action
so that you can continue with that inspiration to moving forward.
Now, one thing that you can start to do, and this is the fifth way,
is you're looking for that inspiration that's around you in everyday life.
And you can actually find it, believe it or not, in nature.
Nature is one of the easiest ways.
You know, I every morning we open up our bedroom curtains and we see the birds.
They're eating.
They're chirping.
They're enjoying the morning.
And just by listening and watching those birds, it actually inspires me to say,
hey, if you can actually get up in the morning and actually fly across the suburb, land in a tree,
go through to a bird feeder, have a great meal, and then fly on.
That's amazing because that bird did have that in the back of his head.
You know what?
I could stay where I am.
It's cold.
Let me just stay in the nest.
I know I'm going to be hungry, but I'll just stay here for the rest.
No, they don't.
They have that immediate motivation and that drive.
Why? They got the purpose to go through and find that food.
So you can actually find it in nature.
You can hear it in nature.
You can see it in nature.
You can smell it in nature.
And it's amazing.
But just having that in the morning can give you that motivation.
You can also find inspiration in others.
And this can happen through things like listening to podcasts.
Or maybe you actually have an inspirational person in your family, in your office, or something like that.
that every day they've just got that, you know, those words of wisdom that really goes, man,
that really, I can feel that.
I want to be like that.
And you feel inspired to be like them to follow on those particular paths so that you can lead your own life in moving forward.
And that really, most of the time, we have blinkers on and we don't see the inspirational people.
We only hear the negative people.
But if you look closely, you will find those inspirational people are there.
So go out and have a look at them.
And then the last part of that is part of finding this inspiration every single day is for you to start developing your own resources.
And this is what I've done.
I actually get the inspiration.
I go through and I get a particular topic.
And I want to talk about it.
I want to share about it.
And let me tell you something.
When I actually have that topic and I go, hey, you know what, I know that this is going to inspire people.
It's going to give them something of benefit.
It motivates me.
So create your own resources and you share it with people because why the people will come back to you and say, hey, that was fantastic.
Can I have some more?
And that can actually motivate you to create more, to get closer to those.
particular goals. So that's what I wanted to share with you today so that each and every one of you
can actually go through on this journey of getting that motivation every single morning. So it
starts out by finding those motivational factors, your passion, your purpose, your values,
and obviously the goals. You need to make sure that you've discovered that. Have that growth
mindset because it's that growth mindset that's going to give you that internal energy. In fact,
It's the fuel for your brain that you need to go forward from.
The third one is creating those daily habits.
And you want to get into that habit and make it a momentum throughout the day.
And a key thing here, keep them to the morning when you're starting out to create those new habits.
Don't try and hit them at the end of the afternoon.
Start in the morning and start working through that.
And then the fourth one is you're going to find that inner spark.
And you can do that with, it could do with meditation.
In fact, you can do with self affirmations and giving those gratitude to people.
It's such a powerful way.
You'll see how it actually comes back.
And then finally, search for it every single day.
Get into that habit of searching for it, looking for it, whether it's in nature,
whether it's the people around you, podcast.
Maybe there's an inspirational video.
Maybe it's a book that you're actually reading that gives you that inspiration.
Maybe it's friends.
Maybe it's family.
Maybe it's work colleagues.
I like to inspire people.
And that motivates me every single day.
And if I can motivate somebody to get up, take that step forward,
and then give them some form of inspiration,
that fuel that will keep them going for the rest of the day,
the week, the month and the year,
then I know I've done what I'm passionate about.
And that is how to get those motivations ticked all.
Remember, small sparks can ignite big achievements.
Implement these tips and watch your motivation transform into daily fire.
