KGCI: Real Estate on Air - Mastering the Four H's of Human Connection to Build Client Trust
Episode Date: October 20, 2026Summary:Host Knolly Williams breaks down the four core stages of human connection—Humor, Heart, Helping, and Hope—to help real estate agents build authentic, long-lasting client relations...hips. Williams explains how agents can purposefully apply these principles across daily conversations, listing presentations, and social media content to increase trust and influence. By adopting detached compassion and focusing on client needs rather than personal accolades, agents learn how to transition from transaction-focused interactions to relationship-driven business growth.

But this is the four ways that human beings have, that God has created for human beings to,
to connect with each other.
So number one is humor.
Number two is heart.
Number three is helping.
And number four is hope.
So humor, heart, helping, and hope.
Those are the four Hs of human connection.
Welcome to the Success with Listings podcast.
where we help you get success in the real estate game, the easy way.
Now you can get off the roller coaster of Feast and Famine
and out of the rat race of competing with every other agent in town.
Hi, I'm Nollie Williams.
I took over a thousand listings during my first 10 years from the real estate game.
And in this podcast, I show you how to have success with listings.
Let's go.
And so with that, what I want to do is I want to share with you something that I learned
from my mentor, it's called the four Hs of human connection.
The four Hs of human connection.
And, you know, I'm going to say that probably intuitively,
a lot of you know this already,
but you may not have,
you may just not have focused in on it as I hadn't when I was taught it the first time.
So with that, let me, I'm going to share my screen because I want to,
well, here's what I'm going to do.
I'm going to have you write these down.
first. These are what we call the four Hs of human connection. So the first H is humor.
Do you to close that? And by the way, they're not going to be in any particular order.
But this is the four ways that human beings have, that God has created for human beings to
connect with each other. So number one is humor. Number two is heart. Number three, it's
helping. And number four is hope. So humor, heart, helping, and hope. Those are the four
Hs of human connection. And I'm going to share this with you. And I'm just going to quickly go
through this because what you'll notice is that as you're, and I want you to start doing this,
you do this already, but my invitation to you is to start doing this purpose.
Okay, so the first way that we that we connect with people is through humor.
So humor really has a way of connecting to people like nothing else can.
Be sure to share some appropriate personal stories that are funny.
So if you're if you're given a talk or your talk, you're meeting with someone or you're, you know,
and by the way, if you're, if you're not naturally funny, then maybe don't do this.
You don't have to use every age in every conversation.
But when you have a, you know, whether it be a live event or just a meeting with someone,
this is how you're going to connect with them.
By the way, if you think about it, if you go to a church like I was in church yesterday,
and the pastor usually will use all four of these, won't he, right, on a sermon, he'll use a little bit of humor.
Maybe she'll use a little bit of heart, get you kind of, you know,
warm and fuzzy, then they'll talk about helping and then give you hope, right? Passers,
do this every week. So humor is the first one. Second one is hard. So when we connect with people
at an emotional level, the connection is deep and virtually unbreakable. Be open, honest,
and vulnerable, be real and share from your heart. So I noticed that Jason Pock Grant does this
quite often. He leads quite probably intuitively from his heart.
You know, however, one of my coaches taught me, Artemis, he taught me, you know, you've got to
care, but not that much. You've got to care. Now, you have to care, but not that much.
another one of my coaches Robert Morris the way he calls it he calls it detached compassion
so we have compassion we care about the person but we're detached from the outcome okay we allow
them to have their journey so the heart is another way that we connect with people um helping
is a third way that we connect so when we connect with people by helping them that connect
that connection or at least the help associated with it can last for a lifetime so
So keep in mind that it's not about you.
You are here for your students, those of us that are teaching and training and coaching.
And it's all about them and what they need.
And this is what my coach taught me, Zanali, this is not all about you, bro.
You know, nobody cares that you did these numbers except that they can do it.
Okay.
How can you help them?
You know, when I was in my previous industry, when I was in the music business, I didn't help, I helped age, I helped artists, you know, fulfill their dream of recording.
and getting it out there and promoted and all that kind of stuff.
But I really didn't help them learn the business.
And the reason I didn't is because I felt like,
well, if I teach my artist everything I know,
then they won't need me.
And I'll be replaceable.
So I really, in that career,
I spent my whole career not really helping to the degree that I could have
just because I was in,
I was not in abundance thinking. I was in the in the in the fear of lack that that's how my mind
worked. When I got into real estate I after I lost everything I said you know I'm never going to
live that way again. I'm not going to let pride uh you know or fear hold me back from teaching
everything the whole playbook okay and so that's why a lot of the training that I do comes from a
space of helping people, helping you get over that next hurdle or helping you, you know,
get out of the rut or the limited belief. And then finally, hope. So when we provide someone
with hope, we make a direct connection with them because we align ourselves, aligning ourselves
with their goals and desires. Okay. So that's when you find out, okay, what, what are you,
like when Simon talks to that owner of that building, it's like, what are you trying to do?
do. What are you looking to accomplish? What is your goal here? What, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, and I'm the guy that, you know, what, I'm the one being to accomplish. And then saying, you know, based on everything that you've told me, we've got a program for that. And I know, how come I've never heard about it? Because I'm the guy that, you know, I'm the one bringing you hope. Okay. All right.
And so when we bring hope to our clients and to our students, that we connect with them.
And throughout all of the eons of life on planet Earth, the HOMO sapiens race, this is the way that we connect with them through the four ages.
We either use humor.
We use the heart.
We help them somehow.
or we provide them hope.
That's the four Hs of human connection.
My coach shared that with me
and now I share it with you.
So let's talk a little bit about that
and then we'll go on to our Q&A.
Any AHA's thoughts, comments?
What's up, Jose Villar, in the building?
Yeah, good to see you, brother.
We're doing, knowledge.
You're going to love our new format, man,
one hour, bro, one hour, because I know, I know you, you're a busy man.
So, yeah, four inches of human connection.
What, what do you think?
I just out a quick comment.
Yeah, go ahead, Simon.
To that saying, people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.
So that goes to the heart.
Amen.
Yeah.
Amen.
And it's interesting that we, we, Simon, we intuitively do this anyway, right?
We don't even need to know the four Hs, really, because that's kind of what we do.
But if you want to be more purposeful about it, you're like, how can I really help this person?
And if you start weaving more of the H's into your emails or your communications or your talks,
the more H's you can get in there, the better.
And people are like, man, I don't know why I love this guy, but I just do.
That's funny.
Yeah, I definitely think it could work on social media, on videos.
Yeah.
However it can, even if you aim for one of the H each video, you just recite.
going down.
Yep.
I like that.
That could be your content calendar, right?
I'll say.
So, hey, the first week, I'm going to do hope.
Then the second week I'm going to do humor.
Then the third week.
And then you just rotate them out.
And then you could even have a folder where you have all sort of content that you're
ready to post that fits in these four categories.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, I like that idea, actually.
That's because I don't know about you, Jose,
but I've got to have a system.
for my social media or I really won't do it.
Yeah.
Does that make sense?
Yeah, because it's not exciting to me to do social media, you know, to create content.
So, okay, good, good.
Appreciate that.
Who else?
I got one.
Yeah, you bet.
So first of all, these are all good.
They're all great.
I would actually add a fifth one.
Let's go.
And it comes from my former boss, Terry Dwyer, who is the CEO or C-I-O of Rilogy.
Um, he told me, Stephanie, you need to ask questions. Always ask questions. So I would say,
hunt or hound or you've got to really dig deeper because people, I don't know, just ask questions,
ask questions. I love that. I was trying to think of an H word that that meant that.
You know, that's interesting because this, the guy that taught me this, um, he was the CEO.
and I should have pre-framed it.
So this guy was the CEO of Tandy Corporation,
which was Radio Shack.
Michael Fleming, my coach, was the CEO of that company.
His budget annually was over a billion dollars.
That was his budget.
He was also the president and vice president of Payless Shoes.
You've heard of Payless Shoes?
He was one of the presidents of that company.
He was, and he had about a billion.
budget there too.
And he, anyway, very, very, very bright, very interesting guy.
And the way he became a coach was he had a heart attack.
You know, he was making millions of dollars as a CEO and, you know, of these companies,
different companies.
And he had a heart attack.
And the doctor said, you got to quit.
He was like, what am I going to do?
He's like, I don't know, but you can't do this.
Are you going to die?
Okay.
And so he became a coach and started teaching people like me all the things that made him a great CEO.
And so we learn a lot from our CEOs, don't we?
They're really brilliant people.
And so he became a coach and started charging a lot of money to people like me to learn the things that he had learned.
So really, really good.
Thank you, Stephanie, for that hunt.
That just shows that you're actually interested in them.
That really connects.
and you keep asking the deeper question, and why is that important to you?
Okay, and what would that do for you if you had that?
Because people say, hey, I want a million dollars.
Why do you want a million dollars?
Well, if I had a million dollars, I could do it.
And why is that important?
Well, because if I, you know, I could do it.
And what makes that important to you?
Well, you see, and then you get deeper into, man, this person, you know, they felt
unloved by their mother, and now they want to make their kids feel loved.
that's why you know okay now we have your why okay we get it i love it i love that
stepheny thanks thanks for making it an h too i'm gonna add it how many of y'all think we
should add that one hunt yeah it's so good yeah unless you think it falls under help or heart
it it you know honestly i i believe that everything falls under these four hs uh everything um but i
But I like isolating that one because it forces you to, instead of just being the giver,
you force yourself to become the receiver.
Because a lot of times I just like talking.
And I've got to listen more.
So I like it for that reason.
