Elevate your life. Elevate your business. Welcome to the elevated results podcast.
Excuses, excuses. You can talk yourself out with something, but you can also talk yourself into something.
This morning when I woke up, I felt like trash. I felt like garbage. We had my daughter's first
birthday party over the weekend and we had a whole bunch of family down. There was a bunch of kids.
My daughter ended up getting sick and I ended up getting sick and I don't normally get sick.
but I woke up and I felt like complete trash.
My throat hurt.
I was tired.
I was lethargic.
I wanted to stay laying in bed and feel sorry for myself, but I decided, no, I have a recipe
to get myself in a state where I'm going to be the best version of possible today.
And that doesn't mean it's the best version of me in my entire life, but it's the best
version that I can be today because all you can do is what you can do.
All you can do is show up is the best version of you and make decisions that are going
to put you in that situation. So this morning, I ran down to the beach. My chest was hurting,
but I ran down the mountain, got to the beach. I was surrounded in nature. I was completely present
in the moment with the lake, the rocks, the beach, the sun shining. My dogs are running, and I
just felt completely free for a moment. And I felt the inspirations that started flowing through my mind,
and I started to notice my mindset shift by just making these little changes. Instead of laying in
bed, I got up and ran down to the beach. It wasn't the hardest work I'd ever done, but it still
got me into a state. And that's where it's our decision and it is our responsibility to show up
as the best versions of ourselves, to be in state. And we don't always have to be on all the time
because it's impossible to do that. But even I think back to when I'd be really either hungover
or not feeling well, not in a peak state, and I'd have to go meet a client in the real estate
business or I'd have to do a coaching call. Well, I had to stand and deliver. You can't show up to your
showing completely being a loser and sick and hung over. Even if you have a really sore throat,
you probably talk your way through it. And I know the pandemic changed people's mindset around
it, but my mentality growing up was you push through it. You don't make excuses. You push through it.
Because the only person you're lying to is yourself. If you make an excuse, you're lying to
yourself. When I was little, there was a few years where I didn't like going to school. I absolutely
hated it. I don't know what was going on in my own life, but I didn't like going to school. So I'd
always call in sick. I'd always tell my mom I was sick. Even though I felt fine, I'd rather just watch
cartoons and eat pancakes at my grandmas and sit on the coach all day. There was something really
restful about it and I loved it at that time. So I would do it over and over again until finally
my dad's like, okay, you're not sick. You need to get your butt up and you need to go to school.
and he pushed me to do the things that at the time I didn't want to do because it was,
I was more comfortable not going to school than going to school. He pushed me to be uncomfortable.
And that's how it is. That's our responsibility is it's not always going to be easy,
but it's making those hard decisions that are going to put you in the situation that you need to be in.
And eventually when you do it over and over again, you start creating a muscle or almost like a callous to it,
that it doesn't hurt so much doing those uncomfortable things, that it becomes second nature to you.
that you do the things you don't want to do. You do the things that are uncomfortable.
Because if you keep choosing to do things that are comfortable and easy in the moment,
your life's going to get hard. Your business is going to have obstacles. So it's all about
finding that mental toughness within yourself to push yourself. Tony Robbins, every single
morning has a cold plunge. That's something he says, I never want to do it, but I do it because
it really shows me first thing in the morning. I can do the things I don't want to do. I can push
myself mentally through the things that I don't want to do. And that's what I did this morning.
I pushed myself. And it wasn't a huge task, but it was one little shift that changed the pace of
my whole day. So what are you choosing to do? Which mindset are you letting rule your life and your
business? Are you choosing to do the easy things because it's comfortable? Or are you choosing to do
the hard things that are uncomfortable that are going to push you to building that callous,
to becoming more comfortable doing the uncomfortable things? David,
Goggins is a huge inspiration when it comes to running anything physical. You Can't
Hurt Me. His book, You Can't Hurt Me was one of my favorite books. And it's a very masculine,
hard book, but mad did David Gaggans inspire me. He uses a different mentality on how to overcome those
hard things that he chooses to do. But he wanted to be a Navy SEAL. And he was overweight,
and he started looking at himself, and he started using that pain to be what pushed him. He
started using that pain as power to overcome that obstacle of being overweight and not being
able to pursue his dream and goals, which was to become a Navy SEAL. But he'd use these different
tools to overcome it. It's all up here, guys. It's all your mindset. 80% of success at anything
is your mindset. So he started believing that he could do it. He started believing that he could
push himself through it. He started taking the actions to show himself that he was uncomfortable
where he was. He wasn't settling for being overweight and allowing that to completely crumble
any chance he had at his dream of being a Navy SEAL. He started taking the actions. He started doing the
things that were uncomfortable. He started going for runs. He started doing those things. And now you look at
some of the things that he's been able to accomplish because he's built up that callous. He's run death races,
ultra-marathons. Some of the things that man has done are truly an inspiration. And it's some of those
mindset tools that he's used and that he shares throughout that book, you can hurt me, that I've
leveraged in my own life when I was doing my runs, when I was doing all these physically hard things
that I wanted to give up on because it was uncomfortable, when my toenails were falling off when I was
running, I thought of Goggins. I harness the inner Goggins. And so that's where you can actually
utilize someone else's identity. If you don't know how to do it, think what would David Goggins do?
And that's what I do when I'm trying to push myself physically. Sometimes I think what would David
Goggins do or Tony Robbins when it comes to mindset what would Tony do what would Tony do and before
you know what it's what would Toneil do because I'm starting to integrate those things into my life
and that's what you can do you can start to pull different pieces from different mentors different
teachers and when it really comes down to the spiritual rituals this is why business is a spiritual
game because when you look and you break down the ingredients of what each of these people are using
they're really bringing in some form of spirituality and when I say
spirituality. It could be a connection to God. It could be a connection to grace, angels,
the universe, whatever it is that you connect to your intuition. But it's really harnessing a
source outside of yourself. It's getting out of your body in your today-to-day body,
and it's tapping into your mindset. It's bringing everything into alignment so that you are
in alignment, that you're on, you're in connection, that you are standing and deliver. You're in a
peak state and you show up. You show up. And that's what today,
how this whole topic inspired me to do a podcast on this.
Like I said, I woke up, listen to my voice.
I sound like shit.
I don't sound great.
And I was like, oh, I better not do a podcast today.
Even though this is a day that I schedule every week to do a podcast,
I started using the excuses.
Oh, my voice sounds bad.
Oh, I don't look great.
Oh, I probably shouldn't do a podcast today.
Well, that's every reason to do it.
To stop using excuses.
Because if you talk yourself out of something,
you can talk yourself into it.
And that's why I thought today,
I'm going to show up. I'm going to push myself through it because that's what we have to do in life.
That's what we have to do in business. We can't just sit there and whine all the time. You have to get
up off your butt and go take the actions. And before you know it, when you start moving your
physiology and you start actually taking the actions, you'll start to feel better. And that's why
this morning when I went for that run down to the beach, I noticed a huge significant shift because my
physiology changed. That's the quickest way to change your state is to move your body, to move your
physiology because that's where motion equals emotion. If I'm sitting on the couch or if you're sitting
on the couch and you feel shitty, you feel shittier. It gets worse. But when you actually get up,
you go for a walk, you do something, you start to feel better. And that's where you do have to tap
into your body. I really do believe you have to allow your body to be your guide because sometimes
you know I really just need to rest right now so that I can recover. But it's where you're trusting your
body and your mindset versus letting those excuses be what's guiding your life and guiding your
business because in business we have to do those actions we have to go to the showings we have to show up
for our clients we have to do the things behind the scenes that not everybody sees even when we don't feel
good we don't get just to do it when we feel good we have to do it all the time it's a consistency
and that's what sets us apart from everybody else if you want to be average fall into the trap of what
everybody else does around you. But if you want to be different and you want to really show the world
and show yourself what you're made of, I know that deep down if you're listening to this, you know that
you have everything within you and you have that piece within you. Now it's time to bring it out.
When I was listening to one of Pedro's podcast just the other day when I was walking, he was talking
about chickens and eagles. And he was talking about how people are built different. And if you're listening
to this and you're looking at bettering your life, your business,
your career, every aspect of your life, if you're just looking to grow in some way and want more
for yourself, which I know that you do if you're listening to this and you're actually doing
growth and mindset work and you're doing self-development, you're focusing on growing your business
and your mind and your life and elevating in every aspect that you want more for yourself.
And that just means you're capable of it.
And what was Bejros was talking about in his podcast about the Eagles and the Chickens
is that often people that are built different feel like loners.
that maybe you feel alone and you're different than everyone else that you're hanging around with,
that everyone you went to school with or everyone, even in your family or people you're hanging around
with in business and in life, you always felt a little bit different. You kind of were an outcast.
You didn't fit in. And you're always trying to find a way to fit in with everyone else around you
and to dim your light so that you could just blend in. When you were born to stand out,
you were born to let your inner light shine and radiate and attract others. You were born to lead.
that's what he's using the analogy of chickens versus the eagles.
Eagles are the most beautiful birds and they soar alone.
They soar up above while all the chickens are in the dirt.
And that's where there's nothing wrong with chickens we need and love chickens.
But it's about what do you want for yourself?
Who are you?
Are you an eagle or are you a chicken?
And if you're an eagle, just know that you're built different.
Just know that you are meant to soar.
You're meant to do those things and you're not meant to be like everyone else.
you're meant to be like yourself.
You're meant to follow those inklings that the universe or your intuition is guiding you to do
in your business, in your life.
Just the other night we were having a conversation.
And it really is true to me that when I feel intuitively guided to something at everything in my life,
I feel a different sense than if my mind wants me to do it.
If I'm thinking with a logic mind, it's different than if I'm feeling that alignment
through an intuitive guidance, allowing my intuition to be my gut.
guide. And every time I've allowed my intuition to be my guide, things have been a lot easier for me.
They were so hard. I still to be consistent and take the action, but I got the result.
Where if I led with my logical mind and I wasn't in alignment, it was like I was just spinning
in circles. I was doing the work, but I wasn't getting the results because I didn't believe
that I was going to get the results, but I didn't believe it because it's not what my intuition
wanted. It's not what my intuition was guiding me to do. So it's finding the difference of if you
think you want something because it looks like, oh, that car looks nice, that would be great,
or are you intuitively connected to it? Is there an emotion behind it that's guiding you?
And when I look at some of the most pivotal moments in my life, at some of the most
successful breakthroughs I've had in my business, it was by leveraging spirituality. It was
by tapping into a source outside of myself. It was allowing my intuition to be my guide.
When I started in real estate, I remember being a really young girl and I had no idea what I
wanted to do in school. I didn't have an idea. And I remember we were in gym class and I was in grade
10 or 11 and everybody was talking about what they wanted to do when they graduated high school. I had no
idea. And everyone was talking like, oh, you'd be good at this, you'd be good at that. And they went
around the whole gym class and everyone was saying what they thought someone's career would be based on
what their strengths were. And everyone got to me and nobody said anything. The teacher looked at me and
was like maybe you'd be a good personal shopper. That's what he said to me. And I will never forget that
because I thought, fuck you. I'm capable of more than anything. And I know I can do anything I set my mind to.
But I still had no idea what I wanted to do, but I knew whatever I did, I was going to be successful
at it. And I wasn't just going to be a chicken on the ground. I was going to be an eagle and I was going to
sore. But I didn't know what that was yet. And then as years went by, I felt intuitively guided
to real estate. I wanted to help people. I grew up with my dad in the construction industry. He owns a
construction company with my uncle. So I always was in the industry. I helped my dad build houses when I was a little
girl. It was take your kid to work day and I poured footings. Yep, that's what I got to do in grade 9. I poured
footings with my dad. It was probably one of the hardest laborist days I've ever had, but it was rewarding.
And I realized I didn't want to build houses. I'd rather sell them. So that's when I got into real
state, but I felt intuitively guided to it. I used to search through all the newspaper ads before
they would put all the listings in the newspaper. I would look through them all the time ever since
I was a little girl. I'd always go to the house section. And then I was obsessed with HGTV and I'd
always watch the agents and think, I can do better than that. If they're doing it, I can do it. And I just
got obsessed with it. And then I sought out somebody who knew the industry much better than I, a friend's
mom, owned a Remax brokerage in our community. So I reached out to her and I said, okay,
Can I come work with you for this summer?
I don't want to start my career in Lloyd Minster in real estate.
I don't want to live in Lloyd.
I want to go to Calgary, but I really like to learn the industry.
So I went in and had a meeting with them.
And they said, we don't need an assistant, but if you decide you want to be a realtor here,
you can work with us.
And everything just kind of fell into alignment, even though it's not really what I wanted.
It intuitively made sense.
And it connected where it actually felt right.
And so that year I told my family that I was going to make $300,000 in the first year in real estate.
I was 21 years old.
Everyone laughed at me.
I just remember feeling so certain, and I felt intuitively guided that I was going to be a
successful realtor.
Even though I didn't know how or what I was doing, I just knew it.
And that's where the universe brought it all into alignment.
That's where my mentor showed up.
That's where then the oil field was picking up in Lloydminster, where people were moving.
That's where then my business just blew up because I was focused.
I was consistent.
I put everything I had into that business.
My time, I focused my energy.
and before I knew it, it wasn't, I didn't quite make 300 grand my first year.
And I went six months without a single paycheck.
Six months was zero dollars.
And I used to janitor and I hate janitoring, but I did it so I could pay my car payment
and pay my office bill and have the flexibility to run my real estate business and grow up
because that was my number one focus.
And I was consistent with it.
I showed up every day.
I was the first one in the office, the last one in the office.
I said no to a lot of different fun things.
It was just me and my work and my goal.
but I was intuitively guided.
And then I think that first year, I made about $212,000 within my first year of real estate,
which is crazy to me.
I said 300K, I didn't quite make it, but as a 21-year-old girl, I felt like I made it.
I crushed it.
I hit my goal because I was intuitively guided.
And I'm not sharing that to be like, oh, I did this, even though it's pretty cool.
I'm sharing it because it's, I felt so connected to it emotionally and intuitively that that's
when I became successful at it because I was guided by a higher power, a source outside of myself.
It wasn't just me. There was guidance beyond that. I took the actions, but there was guidance around me,
putting things into alignment, and really allowing me to take action to get the result because I was in
alignment. And the next time is when I wanted to be a Tony Robbins results coach. I wanted it so bad,
and I know I've shared this story not that long ago. I wanted it so, so, so bad that I was forcing it.
and it wasn't happening, but I felt that same intuitive connection. And at this time, this is when I
became obsessed with mindset and the coaching industry, and I had taken many, many trainings, and Tony Robbins
was my mentor. So I knew the power of visualization. I knew the power of focusing on the end goal that
you want and the result and putting your visualization into action. Every morning I would do my
visualization process in my morning rituals. I would see myself being a Tony Robbins coach. I would feel
it every single morning. And that was years and years and years of doing the same.
same thing over and over, I felt intuitively guided to that. And then when I was about to give up,
breakthrough, I became a Tony Robbins results coach. And that was a huge accomplishment for me,
because again, I trusted my intuition and I took actions on it and the universe prevailed. The universe
co-created with me to make it happen. And then when we fast forward to living this crazy
real estate vision, well, the same thing. The universe is prevailing. It's unfolding. Now every morning I
wake up, I visualize being in New York's Times bestselling author and seeing my first book that's
going to be published soon, connected in chaos, being in New York's time bestseller. Every morning I
visualize it, I feel connected to it. I can't tell you why I wanted to do it outside of the reason
I was intuitively guided and I had that same feeling that I did when I wanted to be a realtor,
when I wanted to be a Tony Robbins coach. It's the same feeling for me with my book. I'm just allowing
the universe to connect with me through my intuition and I'm taking the actions.
And I'm really excited for you guys to see the result is it unfolds because I know it's going
to happen. I don't know when, but I know it is. And I trust that and I'm surrendering to it.
But when I talk about the power of letting the universe bring things into alignment,
I had no idea when I finished my book. And I do have to say my husband did push me a lot
because it took me about four years to write my book. I knew I was in
intuitively connected and guided that Hay House is going to publish my book. Hey House, Hey House is,
if you don't know, look them up, but they're Gabby Bernstein's publishers, they're Mel Robbins
publishers, they're just amazing. And I just felt intuitively guided to it. But I had no idea how,
because there's so many different avenues with traditional publishing and self-publishing. And I honestly
was like, I don't know what I'm going to do. And Kyle kept saying, you just expect your book's going to
sell itself. It's not going to sell itself. You're going to have to have a strategy. I'm like,
I don't know what the strategy is yet, but I know it's going to work. And I'm just trusting it.
It's going to come to me. I just don't know what it is yet. And then the book finished.
And I started Googling how I just went in Google and was like, hey house, how do I get my book
published? And Hey House is traditional publishing. So they're not going to publish your book unless
you have an agent. And it can take months. And you have to find an agent that's going to pitch your book
for it. So it can be a longer process. Not saying it's not possible. I just
know it's going to be a longer process. And I still wanted the control to self-publish.
So all of a sudden, an ad popped up, obviously, because of my algorithms, I had typed it in there.
And now there's a self-publishing division of Hay House. And so right away, I clicked a button,
and then before you know it, the process is there, the marketing strategy is there, everything's
there. I'm just waiting for it to fall into alignment for me to take the actions. But I'm just
waiting and I'm taking the actions and it's all falling into place. And that is why,
business is a spiritual game because we don't always have to know every single step we aren't always
going to be able to just trust the logics or the analytics when it comes to business and i know that there's a lot of
very analytical people and that's where everybody's different on what they do and what their drivers are
and what their strong suits are with a disc assessment if you've never taken a disc assessment
go take a disc assessment i know tony robbins has one on his website we're in the process of
putting one in ours but how that works is it's going to figure out what your drivers are what your
is who you are and what motivates you, what drives you. And you can also use this if you are
growing your business. You can have your employees or your contractors, whoever you're working with,
fill out a disc assessment. Then you can figure out how you're going to work together because
everybody has different strong suits and everybody has weaknesses. So you need to figure out,
first off, who you are and then who you need to bring into your business or into your life
and how you're going to be able to motivate and drive them because everybody's different.
Right. That's what I always say authenticity. We're all different. That's our power. But to work
together and to maximize our strong suits, we need to know what each of us brings to the table
and where each of us has our weaknesses because we're not all 100% strong in every aspect,
but it's about leveraging where we are strong. And it's about bringing in and resourcing,
outsourcing those areas where we're weaker and bringing those people into our businesses to help
us grow. And so when I look at the marketing aspect, I'm not the greatest at that. So I know that I need
to outsource that. I know that there's pieces that I need to bring into my business so that
I can take that next level.
But that is where most analytical business people
are people that are, again, with their disc assessments,
they're driven by numbers, analytics, everything like that,
they're always going to think with the logical mind.
And that's great.
We need to, when we're growing a business,
we have to look at the data.
There's no doubt about that.
We need to look at the data.
We need to know the numbers.
And we need to be able to project what's going to happen
to see how is our business going to be profitable.
We need to do that.
We need to see where the potential risks are, where the pitfalls are, so that we can at least have a plan how we're going to overcome those.
But I can almost guarantee you that even those super analytical business people that are all based on numbers, somewhere along the line, they had numbers and they were maybe looking at the business decision, but they still trusted their intuition.
They still trusted a source outside of themselves because you're never going to have 100% certainty.
Even when all the numbers line up, you're never going to have 100% certainty, but your gut won't lie to you.
Your intuition won't lie to you.
Your intuition will never steer you wrong.
And you hear people say that all the time.
Once you can decipher the difference between your ego and your intuition, you'll know.
And you're going to keep trusting that intuition.
And it's hard to figure it out.
It's hard to decipher the difference.
But once you figure out the difference, you know when your gut and your intuition,
when something is right and when something is wrong.
And then you just have to trust it.
So that's how business really is a spiritual game.
Numbers in all.
What does your gut tell you?
what does your intuition tell you?
And how can you start leaning into that more?
And how can you start harnessing the power of the universe or God or grace or that source
outside of yourself to start really growing and leveraging your results in your business?
And that, my friends, is how business is a spiritual game.
