I'm Mike Bro, and grateful to be on this journey together with you. And just super honored that you'd make these few minutes part of your day.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Hey, we've been hanging in a few verses from Psalm 37 for the last couple of days. And we'll most likely see them again because the key to learning is repetition, right? The key to learning is repetition. The key to learning, so, okay, so here we go. Psalm 37. trust in the Lord and do good dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart commit your way to the Lord trust also in him and he will do it rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him it just a reminder of our foundational
Starting point is 00:01:18 principle about finding God's will for our lives that God's will is much more about who we are than what we do or where we go now he does want to lead us to the right place But he wants to make sure that we are the right kind of people in those places and as we voluntarily put ourselves on the potter's wheel He begins to mold and shape us to be more like Jesus I love Ephesians 210 that says for we are God's masterpiece He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago I mean he has good things planned But God wants you and me to be the kind of person that he can point to and say look at him
Starting point is 00:01:58 Look at her. He's making his primary delight, not in what he can earn, not in what she could accomplish, not in what kind of reputation they can build, not in how many points they can pour in, how many possessions they can amass, not in what degrees they might hang on the wall, not in what promotion they might gain, not in what pleasure they can experience, but they are finding their delight and simply knowing me and gratefully do in life moment by moment together. Now, we've talked a lot about daily surrender, how that holds the key to fulfillment in life, but how do you surrender to God? I mean, what does it mean to continually trust in him and do life with him throughout the day? I think it means all along the way we are open-handedly just surrendering
Starting point is 00:02:43 our day to him, saying, God, I'm trusting you in this moment. Lead me in this moment today. It might sound like, God, you know, I've got this meeting coming up at 3 o'clock, and I've got make a proposal that I've been working really hard on. I just want you to know I surrender it to you and I know you're going to walk through that door with me and whatever your plan is for it, whatever you want to do through it, I'm just giving it to you. Then in the middle of the meeting, you're saying in your mind, you're saying, God, just help me not to get defensive right now as they pick apart my proposal. Help me listen. Help me process the feedback. Then after the meeting, you're walking down the hall. Thanks, God. I don't know exactly how it went in there,
Starting point is 00:03:19 but you know what? I'll learn some things. And whatever happens with it, I don't. I don't. just totally give it to you. Or perhaps you're in the shower and you say, God, you know, I got this date coming up at 7 o'clock and I just want to tell you right now, I'm just committing it to you. And as I wash up the outside, would you clean up the inside so I can just bring
Starting point is 00:03:37 the best person I can to this tonight? And God, whatever's in your heart for this relationship, that's what I want, is I want my desires to be your desires for me. So I'm just going to listen really well and trust you. Or you might say, God, I'm driving home to my family. I'm two minutes away from the driveway. and it has been a long day.
Starting point is 00:03:56 But, God, I'm surrendering these moments to you tonight, sweep away any hint of selfishness. I'm just asking you to give me the energy, give me the creativity, give me the joy to be the kind of dad and husband that my family needs me to be tonight. Or maybe you say, God, I'm sitting here in between a bunch of guys at the ballpark
Starting point is 00:04:13 and they're all passing beers around. Man, you know how hard I've worked at this? I've been sober for 18 days, and I just really need your strength right now in this moment. Or maybe you say, I'm going in for this open heart surgery thing, God. I want you to know that whatever happens in there, my life, my future, my eternity is in your hands. And I'm just going to rest in the peace that comes from knowing you. Or maybe you say, God, it's time for me to do the Daily Drive podcast.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And I have to talk to a bunch of people, and I am scared to death. And in these moments, Lord, I have nothing to say except what you want me to say. I have no wisdom apart from your wisdom. I have no strength, no energy apart from what you cause to flow through me. My words, my thoughts, my ego, my motives, my life are all in your hands in this moment. Just moment by moment doing life with God. So today, let's practice those verbs of Psalm 37 and trust, dwell, cultivate, delight, commit, rest, wait, and surrender. Those will be the most important verbs on your to-do list today. See you back
