I'm Mike Bro, and this is the Daily Drive podcast
Starting point is 00:00:35 where we hang for a few minutes Monday through Friday, just diving into God's Word. And, man, I am so grateful for all the special guests that sit in from time to time. Loved hearing from Christine last week, one of my favorites, as well as Carlos and John and Steve and Joby and others who have been with us. But it's really great to be back with you all
Starting point is 00:00:55 as we continue our journey through a book in the New Testament of the Bible called John. Now, John is the author's name, but the book is all about Jesus. And it's been an awesome truck so far. And we left off in Chapter 9, so let's just pick up there. And just to recap, Jesus has just healed a guy who was born blind, as in never been able to see. Can you imagine seeing colors and shapes and clouds and hills
Starting point is 00:01:19 and people's faces for the very first time? Well, Jesus gives him that gift. He gives sight to his sightless eyes. However, not everyone is in all. Not everyone is happy about this man's first in a lifetime experience. Verse 13, it says this. Some people take the man who had been blind to the Pharisees. Because it was on the Sabbath.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Oh man, Jesus did it again. It was on the Sabbath that Jesus had made the mud and healed him. The Pharisees asked the man all about it. So he told them, well, he put mud over my eyes, and when I washed it away, I could see. And some of the Pharisees said, We are so happy for you. We can't imagine the joy you must be experiencing. What's it like to see for the very first time?
Starting point is 00:02:05 What's been your favorite thing about it? This is so awesome. That Jesus, he is the best. Well, you know these guys by now. That's not what they say. This is what they really say. They say, this man, Jesus, is not from God. Why?
Starting point is 00:02:20 For he is working on the Sabbath. Others said, But how could an ordinary sinner do such miraculous, signs. So there was a deep division of opinion among them. Verse 17. Then the Pharisees again questioned, interrogated, the man, who had been blind and demanded. What's your opinion about this man who healed you? The man replied, I think he must be a prophet. The Jewish leader still refused to believe the man had been blind. It can now see. So they called in his parents. We're going to get to the bottom of this. This has to be a scam. And they asked them, is this your son? And was he
Starting point is 00:02:55 born blind? If so, how can he now see? Verse 20. His parents replied, We know this is our son, and that he was born blind, but we don't know how he can see or who healed him. Ask him. He's old enough to speak for himself. Then John says this in verse 22. His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who had announced that anyone saying Jesus was the Messiah would be expelled from the synagogue. And that's why they said, he's old enough, ask him. Can you imagine being so intimidated by leaders? They would rob you of the joy over your son receiving his sight. Verse 24. So for the second time, they called in the man who had been blind and told him,
Starting point is 00:03:41 you know what God should get the glory for this, because we know this man, Jesus, who was God, by the way, is a sinner. And I love the man's response, verse 25. I don't know whether he is a sinner, but I know this. I was blind, and now I can see. You know, so many of us have a story of healing and restoration because of Jesus. And I do believe that we should examine and study all the evidence that substantiates the claims of Jesus. But, gang, we don't have to be an apologetics expert with everyone we meet. Sometimes it's just best to say, I can't answer all of your questions. I can't really tell you how Jesus did it.
Starting point is 00:04:21 But I do know this. I was blind. And now I see. I do know this. I was addicted. And now I'm free. I do know this. I was depressed.
Starting point is 00:04:32 And now I know joy. I do know I was filled with fear. I mean, I have peace. I know I was insecure. But now I know I'm priceless to God. I always want to point people to the one who does supernatural inside-out kind of miracles. And I never want to be so bound up by my religious appearance. opinions and my self-righteousness that I am blind to the goodness of God, where I can't give
Starting point is 00:04:55 him credit when he does something amazing in someone's life. So today, let's give credit where credit is due. Is someone ask about the hope and healing that is coming to your life? The answer is simple. Jesus, not real sure how he pulled it off, but I do know this. At once was blind, but now I see. Amazing grace. How sweet the sound. See you back to the way. tomorrow. Thanks for tuning in today.
