In this week's episodes, we will be hearing from our special guest.
Christine Kane. And now let's dive in to today's devotional.
Hey, Lake Point Church, my name is Christine Kane, and I am so excited to be joining you this week on the Daily Drive with Lake Point Church podcast.
You know, here we are. It's Wednesday. I hope you've been tracking with me all week. We're in Joshua
Chapter 5, and we're looking at what it is to step up and into the purpose and promise of God for your life.
Now right here in this text, the children of Israel are right on the verge of finally stepping into the fulfillment of a 430 year promise in their life.
God had promised them the promised land.
430 years they are in bondage and slavery and captivity in Egypt.
And then they miraculously, the Lord rescued them out of Egypt, 40 years in the wilderness.
And then we come into here we are the edge of the promised land.
We're actually on the promised land, but haven't yet gone into Take the City of Jericho.
So this is exciting.
And on Monday, we talked about the fact that every time God takes you into the next phase of your purpose, every time, there's a cutting away that happens.
You've got to lay aside weights and sins here for the children of Israel.
They needed to have their own circumcision.
You've got to pay your own price.
Every generation's got to do that.
Yesterday, we talked about the fact that, well, okay, then there's a time of healing.
There's a time as God prepares you for the thing that he has.
prepared for you. Mostly, we want to fast track that. But God takes us through a process. There are no
overnight successes. You've got to heal so that you do not seep that toxicity over everyone else.
And today, we're going to pick up in verse 10. It says, when the people of Israel were encamped in Gilgau,
they kept the Passover on the 14th day of the month in the evening on the plains of Jericho.
Okay. So we're going, they kept the Passover. Christine, what's significant?
could that possibly have for my Wednesday, as I'm trying to rearrange my whole day, get to work, get the kids off to school.
I mean, what does them keeping the Passover back then have to do for me today?
Well, today we know the Passover is symbolic of Jesus and the price that he paid for us on the cross.
I want you to know that just before they went in to possess the fullness of the promise,
they stopped to fill themselves with Jesus.
I want you to know when we're talking about the promises of God this week,
when we're talking about the purpose of God.
I want you to know it's actually all about Jesus.
It's all for Jesus.
It's all because of Jesus.
He is the prize.
It's in Him that every promise is.
This whole deal is about Jesus.
Why do we keep running our race?
Why do we want to finish our course?
Because we want to be faithful to the call of God.
We want to be faithful to Jesus.
We want to take the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ
into a lost and a broken world.
Here at Lake Point Church,
as we have campuses,
and we're planting churches and we're committed to taking the gospel into the four corners of the globe.
I want you to know it's not about the name Lake Point Church.
It's about the name Jesus.
This whole thing is about Jesus is we have a world that needs to know Jesus.
We have a world that needs to know about the love of Jesus, the grace of Jesus, the mercy of Jesus, the goodness of Jesus.
Why are you and I staying faithful in our marriages, raising our children as young people?
Why are we living full on for God in college or in school?
Why are we doing this?
Because Jesus is worthy.
Because our world needs to know about Jesus
because you and I are called to be salt and light
in the midst of a lost and a broken world
because you and I have been commissioned with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ
to go into all of the world and make disciples.
Listen, our world has lost its mind.
And it needs the mind of Christ.
It needs Jesus.
It needs believers that actually believe
that Jesus is who He says He is,
that he can do what he says that he can do,
that we don't need to live in despair or hopelessness or darkness
because the light of Christ has penetrated this darkness.
So there is hope for a hopeless world.
There is love for a world that is full of hate and that is divisive and arguing.
So that's why we're doing this.
This is why you've logged onto this podcast today.
This is why they kept the Passover because this whole deal.
It's about Jesus.
When we talk about our call, it's about Jesus.
When we talk about the promise of God,
it's about Jesus. When we talk about being in the Word of God, it's about Jesus. When we talk about
obeying God, it's about Jesus because he is worthy. And the scripture tells us, John says, you know what,
it is to our Father's great glory that we want. We bear much fruit. So why am I on here this week?
Pumping you up and firing you up every single day. You go, this is a lot. This Australian accent is a lot on a
Wednesday morning. But he is so worthy. And can I just tell you, we want to bear fruit until the day we die
because it is to our father's great glory that we bear what?
Much fruit.
Not a little bit of fruit, but much fruit.
It brings glory to God when you and I are living lives on mission that bear much fruit for the
glory of God.
We want to be a people in this day and this hour that show that he is worthy of our all.
And so why we are doing this, it's about Jesus.
It's about becoming more like Jesus.
It's about living life intentionally for Jesus.
and it's about producing fruit for the glory of Jesus.
You know, we're told in Matthew that we're to let our light so shine before men
that what, they may see our good works and do what, glorify our Father in heaven.
It brings God glory when you live on purpose for Jesus, when you produce fruit for Jesus
and when you do good works in the name of Jesus on this earth.
Let's be a people that continue to fill ourselves with Jesus.
That's why you're listening to this podcast.
That's why we listen to worship.
that's why we're committed to being part of a healthy,
life-giving church like Lake Point.
That's why we serve in church.
That's why we serve the poor and the marginalized in our community.
It's not about good works or good deeds.
It's about bringing glory to our great God in this world.
So we stop every day.
We take time to fill ourselves with Jesus,
and then we pour ourselves out on behalf of Jesus
in a lost and a broken world.
You don't want to miss tomorrow.
