And now, let's dive in to today's devotional. Well, it's Friday.
Starting point is 00:00:37 All good things must come to an end. This is our last day of our podcast as we go through Psalm 128, a life on target. It begins with your personal fear of God. It then goes home to your family. It should be manifested in the church, but now it's time to go public
Starting point is 00:00:52 because verse 5 says the second half of it, and may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. Indeed, may you see your, children's children, peace be upon Israel. You just see what he did? He went from the individual to the family, the family to the church, and now he's in the city and the nation, Jerusalem and Israel. He's gone throughout all of life. There's no aspect of life that doesn't intersect with one of these categories. All of life is tied to Psalm 128. He comes now to the city. Why? Because when you
Starting point is 00:01:23 get the benediction in Zion, the church, it's now time to go public. Everybody else is coming out the closet. You might as well come out to. It's time. It's time. for people to know where you stand. It's time for you not to be a secret agent Christian, spiritual CIO representative or covert operative. People need to know you'll stand for Jesus Christ. When you're in Zion, when you're at church, okay, that's like a huddle in the football game,
Starting point is 00:01:45 but 100,000 people, 100,000 amount of people don't pay $100 a ticket to watch 11 grown men bend over. They want to see what difference the huddle makes. They want to know having huddled, can you now score? They want to know what you're going to do about 11 other men daring you to go public with your private, conversation. They want to know what you're going to do about the mother men on the other side of the ball daring you to go public with what you privately discuss. What happens when you break huddle?
Starting point is 00:02:11 Well, it's time for Christians to break huddle so that the city and the nation gets to see what salt and light looks like when it invades the territory. It's time for a public Christianity that demonstrates itself that in every area of life, Jesus Christ, is being represented. If you're a doctor, you're not just a doctor. You're God's representative in the medical fields or the medical field sees what God looks like when God helps hurting people. If you're a lawyer, you're not just a lawyer. You're God's representative in the Bar of associations or the Bar Association sees what God looks like when God tries a case. If you're a teacher, you're not just a teacher. You're God's representative in education, so education sees what God
Starting point is 00:02:52 looks like when God teaches a lesson. If you are a business person, you're not just a business person, you're God's representative in business. So the business world sees what God. looks like when God cuts a deal. In other words, you are to represent God through your good work so that people know the quality of your work is tied to your commitment to your Lord, which actually opens up an opportunity for evangelism. Because when they get awestruck by your excellence and your commitment, you can tell them the driving force behind it and make your witness for Jesus Christ. So that the city, the environment is improved, the prosperity, the improvement of your community is tied to the well-being of God's people. How can we have all these
Starting point is 00:03:36 churches on all these corners with all these members and all these buildings and all these programs that still have all this mess? There's a dead monkey on the line somewhere. And that dead monkey is we don't have enough Christians who've gone public. We don't have enough Christians who have said, I want to end the marketplace. Let me ask you a question. If on your job you are accused of being a full-time follower of Christ, would there be enough evidence to convicts? you or would you be found innocent of all charges? Because there's not enough visible Christianity operating from your life. It ought not to be a secret that you have a savior. It ought not to be a secret that you are committed to God and His Word. Now, even in our perfection, God has given
Starting point is 00:04:20 us a call to repent that we can get back on track with him so that we see the well-being of the city and then he says, and peace. That Hebrew word is Shalom. Shalom doesn't, doesn't mean. feeling calm, Shalom is a Hebrew word that means total well-being. It means having a life well-ordered. That's what Shalom means. To have a structured life. He says so that there will be structured well-being in the nation. Doesn't take a genius to see that our nation is falling apart. Doesn't take a nation, a genius to see that there's little well-being. Individuals lives are unraveling, families are unraveling at warp speed, churches are being more and more ineffective, and the culture is in chaos. You ought to be a kingdom man or woman. You are to raise kingdom children. You are to be
Starting point is 00:05:10 in a kingdom-driven church, and you ought to have a kingdom community impact. That is the community. That's why all my books have kingdom in it. Kingdom man, kingdom woman, raising kingdom kids, kingdom stewardship, kingdom prayer, kingdom authority, you know, everything is kingdomized. Why? Because God is after his kingdom. in television and movies, they show you previews of coming attractions. Previews are always the hot clips of the upcoming show. It's always the fight scene, love scene, a chase scene. Why? They string them all together because they want you to tune into the whole show.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Now, the show may be terrible, but you wouldn't know that from the clips, because the clips are always hot. Well, one day there's a big show coming to town. God is the producer, the Holy Spirit, is the director. Jesus is the superstar, and it will be a worldwide production. It's called the Kingdom of God. meantime, he's left you and me here as previews of coming attractions. You see, we're supposed to be the hot clips of the upcoming show so that when people see our clips, they say the movie must
Starting point is 00:06:09 be hot. And when they offer to buy a ticket to the whole show, that's when we can tell them, you don't have to buy a ticket. The price has already been paid. God bless you as you live a life on Target as you meditate on Psalm 128 as his kingdom representative in the culture. Thanks for tuning in today.
