And now let's dive in to today's devotional.
Hey, welcome to the podcast. I'm Mike Bro, an honor to spend a few minutes with you today.
Thanks for tuning in, and thanks for sharing it with your friends.
If you're new to the podcast, we're here Monday through Friday for about five or six minutes a day,
and we're week one of a three-week experience. We're for 21 days.
We're just getting to know God in a deeper way.
And for the last four episodes, we've been looking at an encounter that God has with this guy named Moses.
You can read about it in Exodus chapter 3. The second book of the Bible is a very, very cool story.
And I'm guessing there are more than a few of us that at one time thought.
After what I've done, after where I've been and who I've become, there is no way.
God would want anything to do with me, let alone use me in some significant way.
Have you been there?
Yep, me too.
So would Moses.
God meets this guy in the middle of his perceived uselessness and tells him,
I have seen the oppression of my people in Egypt, and I want you, yes, you, Moses.
to go to Pharaoh and lead my people out of Egypt.
Well, Moses comes back of the response that I've given to God way too many times.
Who am I to do what you're asking me to do?
I mean, this is a big ask for a strong and capable human being,
and I'm neither one of those things.
Don't you realize how screwed up I am?
Don't you realize a weak and inadequate I am?
You do know what I've done, right?
And God has responded to me in the same way he responds to Moses.
I know. I will be with you.
You know, I like those renovation shows, especially the ones where the house is an absolute gut job.
You know, someone goes in and demos the old house and then rebuilds it into something spectacular that they show off to their friends and the people that are viewing the show.
And some of you are like that.
They're the type you see like an old dresser or a bookcase on the side of the road or you walk through a junkyard or a flea market and you see the potential of something and you restore that.
turning it into an absolute masterpiece.
God is really good at that.
He is really, really great at restoration.
In fact, he found a bunch of us on the side of the road
wrecked and worn, broken and spent,
and saw our potential.
And he took what he had to work with,
which wasn't much, and made us brand new.
Ephesus 2.1 says,
For we are God's masterpiece.
He has created us anew in Christ Jesus
so we can do the good things he planned for us.
us long ago. God restores our perceived uselessness to a life of purpose and light and meaning.
He creates this masterpiece out of you and me and then puts us on display to show a watching
world just what he can do with anybody. And in spite of Moses' feelings of inadequacy, in spite of
his fear, in spite of his past, in spite of all the excuses he tries to all. He tries to
offer up as to why God got the wrong guy.
God goes to work at him, and he uses this reclamation project to deliver the people of Israel
from slavery.
It wasn't easy, and we get really, really hard later on as their leader.
But God did exactly what he promised he would do.
He would be with him.
So please know today that that same God is with you.
That same God pursues you, loves you, sees the potential in you, wants to shape you, mold you into this priceless masterpiece, put you on display and then use your life to make a profound difference in ways you never dreamed.
And I pray that during these 21 days of encountering God, you would simply want to be with the God who wants to be with you.
So maybe your prayer could be today.
restore me oh god remodel me make me new mold me into the person you want me to be and then whatever you
ask me to do today i will follow i hope you have a day full of unexpected adventure and goodness as you walk
with him see you back next time thanks for tuning in today for more biblical teaching and worship
