And Mark, we have to start with you, my friend, because you presented this topic idea that on three has put out a couple of graphics

over the last week or so. It is the off season, right? Slow news days and whatever. but they put out a quarterback ranking, then they put out a quarterback receiving ranking, and you're saying that they just don't add up. Tell me why you're frustrated right now, my friend. I've got the graphics.

I'm going to put them on the screen for our YouTube viewers, but tell me why you're so upset with all of this. Yeah, like you said, this is definitely off-season, you know, bread filler until, you know, the main course starts up here in a few weeks. But you look at this quarterback list, and I would agree with pretty much the way this aligns up. You got Dante Moore, Julian Sayan, Jade Maobit, number three. And, you know, not to show disrespect to the rest of the group here,

but if Jade Maiava is considered the third best quarterback, why would you then give him one of USC's best wide receivers and drop them to the honorable mention list when you put out this list? It just doesn't seem to coexist with each other, right? It doesn't make sense. again, you're looking at Julian Sane, who jumps from number two all the way to number one when you give him Jeremiah Smith. So is it if we're having the conversation, is it the chicken or the egg? You know, which comes first?

Does the wide receiver make the quarterback? Does the quarterback make the wide receiver? What thought went into this, you know, off-season theory of the best quarterback and the best wide receiver do it? Well, I personally, sorry, Jacob, do you mind if I chime in here? I feel like it's a little bit subjective, right? Because we can look at Jeremiah Smith. I think that part's unfair. I don't think that part needs to be deserved this, Mark, I think your point of

Jade Maya of the USC part being as low as they are. Yeah, that's totally fine. I think that that does add up. The one that stood out to me, and I know Jacob would get a kick out of this, why I wanted to make sure we got this in here is like Josh Hoover and Nick Marsh rocketing up this list. You didn't let me finish, Roman. And I was ready to continue because I agree with you.

These guys, I'm not even sure they would recognize each other for passing each other in the hall. I mean, have they even thrown a pass to each other yet? Doesn't matter. They're the best in the country. I'm convinced you. Dun matter. It doesn't matter.

Craig Sheiman of Blacktown Big Ten has shown up as well. We have eight people in the squad. That's crazy. Craig, we're talking. And anybody please chime in on where your team is because a lot of us are represented, not all of us here, but that's okay. How on three. And to be fair, these graphics and lists were put out by two separate people on three.

I do want to make that clear. So that has a little something to do with all this. But Craig, you can come into defense on why Josh Hoover and Nick Marsh are the best wide receiver quarterback duo in the Big Ten, right? Come on now. Oh, absolutely. Listen, Kurt Signetti. And by the way, I want to say hi to Trent Condon, who stayed in longer than the opening

T's this week. That's awesome to have you. It's Iowa Week. That's why. Josh Hoover, apparently, according to Kurt Signetti, is further along at this point of his development than both Fernando Mendoza and Curtis Rourke. So we got the quarterback side. Nick Marsh was a five-star at Michigan State that nobody threw him the ball over there. Now he's got a system in play that's going to help him out.

And he's got Charlie Becker who made all those great back shoulder catches of the Big Ten championship and throughout the playoffs. They got a nice one-two punch there. Yeah, I put them pretty high on the list. Absolutely. Thank you. We've got knowledge and IQ and everything going for us in the Big Ten squad. Zach Seiko, you were trying to chime in there. Go ahead, my friend, the host of Lockdown, Nittney Lions.

Yeah, I didn't want to talk over your guys' little fanfare there. We appreciate that. But it's interesting, Jacob, because not to air out your dirty laundry, but you got done telling me maybe a couple weeks ago, maybe it was a month ago when we were talking about the quarterback wide receiver duo, And that it was Charlie Becker and Charlie Becker was going to be the lead guy and the number one guy. And now it's, hey, Nick Marsh is one of the best receivers in the conference and goes along with Josh Hoover. So which is it?

Both. Look, I think Charlie Becker will be the guy at the start because he's the one that's been in the system. Obviously, it's a new quarterback. And Nick Marsh is a new receiver as well. But Charlie Becker is the known commodity, right? That will be the comfort blanket for Josh Hoover to get started. But about halfway through the year, Nick Marce. is going to remind everybody why he's Nick Marsh and how Craig said he was underused at Michigan

State. And I think he will be one of the best wide receivers in all of college football. But I put this graphic back up here on the top 10 quarterbacks again from on three and Isaiah Ho of Locked on Wolverines. There's Bryce Underwood. Do you think that he's under six other guys in the Big Ten like Rocco Beck, the newcomer at Penn State? Are you taking the Bryce Underwood slander right here? I mean, right now, I mean, he has, what has he proven, right? Like, I think when you come and look at him and say, who on the list has the highest ceiling, I mean, it's Bryce Underwood, but it's completely unrealized, right? Like, he's got the physical tools that pretty much no other quarterback in college football at this point has. He's, but the problem is, is can he actually get to that point? Because right now, yeah, like those six are above him. And, you know, that's kind of been the big. topic of conversation on Locked on Wolverines is can he rise from season one to season two? A lot of Michigan fans are kind of looking at him like Dante Moore year one and then saying like even though we had a better year last year than Dante Moore didn't year one at UCLA.

And then they're saying like, okay, well, like we want to give up. We want another true freshman. We want to go and do something else, which is myopic at best. And I think it's just going to be a matter of how does Jason Beck and Coy Detmer Jr. handle him. They've got him a bunch of receivers, guys that aren't going to drop the ball. I'm really sorry, Zach, about Samaj in advance. But nonetheless, I mean, I think that there's a lot that could go right, but I think he's accurately at seven at this point. Zach Anderson, Yoxheimer, have locked on UCLA. It's good to see you as well. And look, UCLA's

represented on a graphic in the offseason. That's pretty cool. Neckos right there. I mean, yeah, he's ninth out of, you know, 18. But he's still on there. there. And I think you have to at least be excited for that right out there in Los Angeles. I mean, ninth out of 18 teams and quarterbacks. I'm not sure that gets me too excited. That was top 10 quarterbacks across the country. Like, remember, a long list, a long time of the list. Niko was near the top of the national list heading out of high school and a college, highly hyped out of Tennessee going to UCLA. But kind of like what Isaiah just said about Bryce Underwood, very different story for Nico, though. Tools and talent may be there, but he's got.

to truly realize it at UCLA. Obviously, very dysfunctional structure at UCLA in his first year comes to a more, a lot better situation in year two at UCLA with Bob Chesney, different offense. One that suits him, I think, a little bit better to his actual skill set. We'll see if he's the ninth best quarterback, though, by the time the season ends. I think his stock rises, not to top two, but something better than nine. Is that a new, Mike? Yeah.

It sounds, oh, crispy. You should do audio books, man. Wow, wow, what a compliment. from one Zach to the other. I didn't know we had that going on today on the squad. Trent, we're going to get to you momentarily. Of course,

we're talking Iowa's win total, but Roman of Locked on Huskies. There's DeMond Williams. There he is again near the top of the list. And you know me. I'm one that always buys into Washington and they always burn me. So is DeMond Williams a top four quarterback in the Big Tim with some of those other heavy hitters on there?

Always. Let's take a step back there, my friend. What do you? No, don't come at me. No, no. I wasn't. You were the one who came at me first here.

Hold on. No, I actually really like this. I think this is really fun because it doesn't feel it was realized enough that DeMod Williams was second in the Big Ten in total yards last year, only behind Jade Maiava. So I think that this is one of those numbers in terms of like the ranking itself, that this is the right spot where this four or five, six of Demand Williams, got Josh Hoover in there, Rocco Beck. It's a really fun tier two. And I'd throw Bryce Underwood in that same one as well, where demand is, I feel like just

going to be in such a different, just viewed so differently this year because of the transfer portal stuff, because of all this, that people just kind of have forgotten, hey, no, this is a really talented quarterback who is completing close to 70% of his passes and was so efficient and run so well, ran for over 600 yards last year. So all of that, I think is very, very important. The question now is, can he do that as the lead guy? where last year was you have John Coleman, you have Denzel Boston. Now that those guys are out the door, what does that look like?

And I think if we see him just play at that same levels we did last year, I think this is a completely fair ranking. Well, enough of the, you know, good quarterbacks and teams at the top of Thompson. It's time to talk about Iowa, baby. It's time to talk about the hot guys. But again, I blame this on Spencer McLaughlin not being here today and be hosting and everybody being so excited to talk about the Iowa Hot Guys because they are next up on our win total conversation. We do it every summer. We're working our way through and we have hit the Iowa Hot Guys who according to our friends and Fandu'll say the win total is seven and a half. And normally we make the host of that respective show and that respective school wait until the end. But I'm going to let Trent Condon go first because I'm sure he has some things to say. I'm sure he has his way of describing why the hot guys are going to go over and then we all get to react to that over the next 15 minutes. So,

so Trent, the floor is yours, my friend. Tell us what you think will happen with Iowa's seven and a half win total with Fandle. You know, the jokes will certainly be out there seven and a half. Okay, yeah, I was going to go seven and five again this season. It's going to be more of the same. Well, in fact, you have to look back 11 years the last time that Iowa did not win eight or more games in the course of a season outside of 2020 when they went six and two that year and would have got over that number as well if Michigan wouldn't have a wimped out of the final game of the season and and claim that they weren't able to play. But that aside, Iowa consistently, year after year after year, they're going to win eight or more games. Yet there is something

lingering here under the surface. This is the least amount of seniors that Kirk Farrants has had an incredibly long time. Just 10 seniors on the roster that are scholarship players on this team. It is very on Iowa life. In the transfer portal, they didn't go out there and got veterans. Instead, what they did is go to the FBS ranks, excuse me, FCS ranks, and they grabbed a bunch of guys that have multiple years of eligibility. So it's a different kind of build. And in a way, it almost feels like they're building towards 2027, coupled with that incredibly difficult opening slate on the road at Michigan to open up Big Ten play. You're back home for Ohio State. Then on a short week, you've got to go out to Washington. West Coast has been a

house of horrors for Iowa football as a whole, going back to the Hayden Fridays and in the 27 years of Kirk Farrant's on top of it. So normally I would say this is easy. This is, yes, you hit the over. You're going to cash as you've done the last 11 years. They've hit over their win total. This is the one time, though. I am incredibly nervous about it.

I think it's going to come down to the end and very well could come down to that final game against Nebraska. Wow. How about that? So are you going to go with the confidence pick and say they get it done? Are you going to go with your nerves and say, nah, it's not happening this year. What's the pick? Let's go around the horn.

they'll see if anybody can convince you or the other. Okay, I love it. I love how we've set this up. All right, Zach Sanko, we'll just go in order. You've seen the schedule. I'll put it back up in just a moment for our friends on YouTube as well. Not a bad start, right? NIU, Iowa State.

That's at home and then northern Iowa. So if things go well, Iowa starts 3 and O. And then there's that stretch that Trent mentioned at Michigan, home for Ohio State, and at Washington. Me personally, I don't see them winning any of those three games, but I think everything else is rather manageable for Iowa. So your thoughts, seven and a half for the Hawkeyes. Well, with the Iowa Hawkeyes podcast host telling me that he is nervous about a seven and a half line,

then that means I'm probably going to take the under there. And when you couple that with the fact that, again, these are reasonable points to bring up that, okay, Kirk Farrants is still a really good coach. So he's going to be able to have this group prepared for a long grueling season. And it's going to feel so much longer when you have that stretch of at Michigan, Ohio State, on the West Coast, at Washington, right out of the gate, right after your non-conference schedule. And I think about that when you don't have the senior class that you would like, when you don't have the veteran group that you would like when you're trying to break in a new

starting quarterback there, this kind of has the feel of a six and six team. And it's because you're going to lose those first three tough big 10 conference games. And then the ones that are toss-ups are probably at at Minnesota Wisconsin's better. Do we think are we given Northwestern a chance to be scrappy again, right? And that's on the road. So those those games that are already 50-50 to begin with aren't favorable, whether they're at Kinnick or in a better spot coming right out of that slate. I will take the under and say six and six. Okay. Craig Sheiman of locked on Big Ten, you cover every school in this conference. Tell us your thoughts on the Iowa hot guys against seven and a half. win total projection with Fandau right now.

Well, there's a lot of things you can count on with Iowa without even looking at any names, stats or anything. So with Jeremy Hicklinsky and Hank Brown at quarterback battling it out, one guy can't throw, one guy can't run. They got no quarterbacks. But at Iowa, that's not a problem. Lesser teams would have trouble with that. Moulton's going to run for 1,000 yards.

We know that. Bonham will probably be the next first round tight end to come out of Iowa. they'll have no wide receivers worst wide receivers in the country that's normal they'll have a bunch of guys on defense that you never heard of and they'll hold everybody to 10 points a game and to throw in a bonus their punter is from some city or country we've probably never heard of give me the over give me eight wins wow it does wow Craig is high on the hot guy so high he gave you the eight wins at eight and four Isaiah I'm going to let you go here because there was a little jab in there

from from Trent earlier about the Michigan Wolverine. So don't let that impact your decision on Iowa seven and a half win total, okay? I am not that good of a person, Jacob. I came in with the full intention of giving them the over, but I am spiteful and I am hateful. Trent, you are getting the under. I'm not sure you're going to beat Northern Iowa at this. Whoa, wow.

It's really sad how the program has fallen that quickly. In like five minutes. That's insane. I mean, like that. Well, they have more passing touchdowns and interceptions this year.

Absolutely not. They might not have a passing touchdown. And that has nothing to do with me. I'm being influenced by Trent Soliloquy there because he apparently wanted to see a bunch of sick kids play. Like, who wants to see sick kids play your team?

Come on. They would have been there, by the way, if they would have got blown out by Iowa and Ohio State to end 2020. But that's a conversation, maybe for a different squad show. you know, national champions, three straight big 10 champions, you know, whatever. Nonetheless, I am looking at the schedule.

And I think that I was kind of at that point where I was kind of borderline because I always feel like the team that should win Iowa, Iowa State tends to lose for some dumb reason. I do have the losses from Michigan, Ohio State, Washington. I think Minnesota is going to be really tough. I don't think enough people are giving Minnesota credit for being one of the, the most experienced teams in college football and having Drake Lindsay at quarterback. And on top of that, Iowa is actually, according to Bill Connolly's returning production, the least experienced team in all of the big 10. So I think that's going to play against them a little bit because they're just facing a lot

more teams that I just think are going to be able to have their kind of moment in the sun. So I will go under by a game because Trent gave me the stray. I was going to go over by that half game. So congratulations, Trent. You played yourself. Cut thrown in the Big Ten. I love it. We wouldn't want it any other way on the Big Ten squad.

So you're going to be on the outside looking in here on the hot guy. your thoughts seven and a half yeah so i'm looking at the schedule trint and you know i i say i put a bullet in your forehead i'm just going to keep kicking the horseback down imagine this going from going three-o on and on september 19 your three-and-o and having to wait all the way until Halloween to get your potential next win oh i mean that's stretch where you're at Michigan, you're home to the Buckeyes, you're at Washington. Here comes your favorite

bye week, which is going to extend the misery longer. And then you're at Floyd the pig, right? Isn't that the trophy from Minnesota? Floyd of Rosedale, yes. I do have to put this in here because I'm feeling a little bit of gopher love. Remember, Phil Fleck, the only game he's ever won in his career against the Hawkeyes came in the Cooper DeGine game, the fair catch game that was called a fair catch. He returned it for a touchdown. That is the only time he has ever beaten Kirk Farrant's. And Kirk Farrant's, there are certain coaches he does not like the whole everything that goes with Fleck is one.

He likes to rub his nose in it. They had a night game up there a couple of years back where they're up 30. He was still calling timeouts at the end. He said, uh, I figure we leave the timeouts and take the pig with us. Kirk Farrant said that of all people. You can tell he's got a little something there. So be careful if you're trying to put that one in the gop for win column. But outside of that, those first three, you guys are right.

It doesn't call it. Iowa scored 30. Doesn't everybody feel that way about Fleck, though? I just feel like he's just got that reputation. Like, it doesn't matter, maybe. He has a way of getting under your skin. I mean, I remember his comments after they came back and beat USC. And he was like, dude, just take the win.

Cut up, go away. Like I said, I looked at that schedule, and it's a long time to have to wait for another win. A long time. And Wisconsin. Another. Another rivalry game, right? Sort of. And Ryan's not even here to defend himself.

That's crazy. I'm taking the under. Seven is your ceiling. And seven is the ceiling for Iowa. But you don't have another Joe Moore, you know, Office of Line Award down the road. Because you guys are,

unless it's Washington. Wow. Well, we'll get to Roman in a minute. Zach Anderson, Yoxheimer have locked on UCLA. You're another opponent not on the schedule of the Iowa Hawkeye. Since Mark went under, you have to go over, right? That's just how the USC, or UCLA rivalry works, right?

I mean, it's not like I was really listening to Mark, but I do know Iowa was some of the most annoying fan bases that have been in the Rose Bowl that have invaded Pasadena in recent years. They were the most obnoxious. And one of the few that UCLA did beat and shut up. I would say, you don't wake up for Iowa season until October 24th. You're going to sleep. You're like, okay, they're three in a row.

Oh, they're expected to lose three in a row, as Mark said. Go, Dubai. and then that game against Minnesota comes to town. And points are made that, yes, Fleck can be annoying. If we were talking Minnesota, we'd probably pick Minnesota to lose that game. If we're just getting the ire of because of PJ Fleck, I think, though, that Iowa loses that game to Minnesota, and it drops them below that 7.5 threshold. I have the max going 7 and 5.

I was wavering back and forth, like some of our fellow co-host or other hosts of shows on this squad show today. But, I mean, I think Iowa loses that game, and that takes them out of the 8 and 4 season running when they lose to Minnesota. Nebraska game, I think that's the one that gets Matt Rule goodbye, but that's a whole other conversation. Oh, wow, a little prediction. I like it. Prediction outside of the win total. I like that from Zach Anderson, Yawks, well, Roman, everybody's just given Washington a 100% guaranteed win, no doubt about it, no worries about the hot guys when they come to Seattle on October night. I read that as a Friday game. Is that correct? That is a Friday night game.

Wow. And I want to start this. Oh, well, I want to start this with a question that I'm going to pose Trent's way. Trent, what is Kirk Ferrence's record in the Pacific Time Zone? I believe he beat USC in a Holiday Bowl and that is it like 1 and 8, something like that. Yeah, I thought it was like 2 and 9 or something like that. It's not good. That's all I really need for that game personally.

And I think that Washington's defense is going to be one of the best of the nation this year. And that versus Iowa's offense is his own thing. However, the more I look at the schedule, the more I do, as much as I want to just continue to pile on with the offense stuff, I look at the back half of the schedule. And Minnesota, I do agree with Trent. I do think that that could wind up being a win there. Wisconsin having to come to Kinnick is something where I'm kind of, I feel good about that if I'm Iowa. And then it's northwestern Purdue, Illinois, at Illinois to Nebraska to end the year. give me over.

I kind of like it. I feel like there's enough there and there's enough, again, at home for Iowa to be able to figure this out. The Big Ten West is back at the end of the season. Last half the year is the old Big Ten West coming back. I want to post this. I've gotten a lot of run and traction out of this. Of those first three games, your guys has thought, what is Iowa's best opportunity for a victory? At Michigan, home for Ohio State, then the short week on a Friday night against Washington.

of those three, what would be your guys's thoughts? What is Iowa's most likely win of those three? You always win at home. You hope the sick kids up at the hospital can put a little whammy on them. Just looking for that upset. I'm stupid enough. I'm going to go against history and I'm going to say on the road at Washington. I don't feel good about it.

But the first road game of the year being at the big house I don't love. And then Ohio State's talent is just too much. So yeah, give me the Washington game just for like. a got-a-habit moment. I'll say the Washington game is what I would be most confident in, but I don't feel confident in any of them. I say ditto for the same reasons. If you can make me pick one of those three, I guess, sorry, Roman, it would be Washington. No, I'm in that same boat and I don't like it. If Kurt Farrants is smart, he punts on the game plans for Michigan and Ohio State and saves all of the best plays for Washington to go all in. All three of them.

That was going to be my question. All of our brains were working. We just couldn't get there fast enough. And anyways, Trent, your last defense, a couple of overs in here. That's more than I thought, to be honest with you. So take us home, man, seven and a half, you're worried about it. But how does Iowa get there if they do it? So in order for it to happen, you know, quarterback play really doesn't matter.

We've seen Iowa with awful quarterback play win double-digit game. So regardless of it's Hank Brown or if it's Jeremy Hecklinsky, they'll do enough there. The wide receivers are going to be improved. Tony Diaz is a name. I think you guys should get to know he's going to be a guy that's going to be impactful along with Reese Vandersi, who's been banged up his first couple of years. Run game will be good. The biggest question for me is not quarterback.

It is defensive tackle. And if Iowa can figure that out at defensive tackle, the defense will be solid once again. They'll play at an elite level. They'll hold teams to low scoring and they'll find a way to get over it. So if it happens, I think that's the answer. Defensive tackle gets figured out. And of those first three games, again, no shade, Isaiah. the most likely victory is on the world against the Wolverines.
