Well, the Oregon Ducks look to remain perfect at Camp Randall.
The Buckeyes, they get to play at Wrigley.
Penn State's going to try and keep pace with everybody else.
They have Purdue.
Let's talk.

Spencer, we'll start with you.
You guys are on a roll.
You're on the downhill part of the schedule.
Just a couple more games left.
Should lock up that Big Ten championship game spot.
And, of course, bigger and better things as well
with the Natty well within your range.
All your goals are right there.
Yeah, they are, and the good thing is that November
has never seen any chaos ensue in college football,
and the number one team always wins every game that they should,
and nothing bad ever happens, so I'm completely calm.
Well, that's good. That's good.
Yeah, nothing will happen.
Well, let's talk about, let's go around the room a little bit here.
Zach, locked on UCLA.
The Bruins are, what, the third or fourth hottest team in the Big Ten right now,
winning three in a row.
Yeah, they're doing good.
I remember one guy saying the best case scenario, 3-9.
I mean, 2-10.
I mean, 3-9.
I can't make up my mind.
That's the best case scenario.
I think he's to my left.
Yeah. Is that to my left. Yeah.
Is that to your left?
I think to your left technically is the Big Ten squad sign.
I always use the panel.
Whatever way I'm pointing with all these people that are on here.
Yeah.
Roman, how about you?
Locked on Huskies.
Now I got it.
Had your first whiteout experience this week?
Yeah, we don't need to talk about that game.
That's fine.
I'm looking forward to the blackout on Friday when Zach's Bruins come to town.
That's where all my focus is at this point in time.
It's senior day.
One of the really fun things that I'm looking forward to this week is,
as Craig, you so so kindly mentioned
last week uh and and i'm just gonna throw you under the bus here not not mention anybody else
because zach saco is not here but um at that all the the fifth and sixth year seniors that have
gone through not just one not just two but three coaching changes at washington gonna be celebrating
some of those guys on friday i think that's going to be really cool. So that's something I'm really looking forward to this weekend.
Roman, I saw a great tweet the other day that said three years ago on this platform,
Oregon and Washington fans were really arguing who's a better coach
between Jimmy Lake and Mario Cristobal.
And I just thought about that.
Like, yeah, we've leveled up.
We've leveled up since then.
Mario is, of course, better than Jimmy Lake.
But, I mean, I think both are in a different –
Jimmy Lake's calling an NFL defense right now, man.
Say what you will.
That's not him.
Oh, my gosh.
That's right.
Who is he with?
Atlanta.
The only person who'll give him a job, Raheem Morris.
I mean, they're not –
not going to do anything special there.
By the way, Zach, I'd just like to point out that if UCLA loses their final three games,
that I will have been one game off with my preseason record prediction.
Just one.
Are you waffling up to four and eight now?
After the best case scenario was three and nine?
I'm just saying, a preseason record prediction being off by one game
is essentially getting it right.
Yeah, those are plus or minus one when you put those out.
Sure.
I mean, look, as Josh Pate says, my predictions are never wrong.
Officials, players, and coaches just screw them up.
That's right.
Or we go with margin of error, right?
I mean, we've heard that a lot.
Yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly.
And I think one game within the margin of errors is OK.
I legitimately cannot explain a couple of things.
I was scoring 40 points. UCLA is winning football games.
What's happening in this conference, Craig?
That's exactly you took the words out of my mouth. It's absolutely insane.
And since we haven't heard from Trent yet, who's here with us.
Well, first of all, can we can we discuss Trent's frame here?
What do we got going on here?
He's being held hostage in a warehouse by the villains in Breaking Bad.
Yeah, it's a rough go here.
When we're doing the squad, it's tough.
It's tough for me to make it work.
We got five-year-old basketball going on at this time.
So I'm sitting out in the car here giving you guys a little bit of a hit
after a very frustrating one at the Rose Bowl.
The continued woes for Iowa in the Rose Bowl.
They go back years and years.
Well before you guys were even born, there is a lot of ineptitude at the Rose Bowl.
Regular season, postseason, it doesn't matter.
It's been a very frustrating year.
This was a year with expectations.
And this was a year for Iowa to break through.
You look at the schedule the next couple years, it becomes incredibly difficult.
They use their NIL money to bring back a bunch of fifth and sixth-year guys,
and it's been a disaster.
Six and four with this schedule, it's an embarrassment.
It was an embarrassing coaching performance out of the whole staff
on Friday night against UCLA.
You got run all over.
You got out-physicaled by UCLA.
This is trending towards the end of times for Kirk Behrens.
It's trending towards the end of times for Iowa football as we know it.
This was as bad as it can get, losing in that fashion to UCLA.
Yeah, you got run over by a UCLA team.
Hold on, hold on.
Well, that's – hold on.
Trent, when you said this was a frustrating one, I thought you were venting about the five year old basketball game.
You said that in that order.
And I thought you were using the squad as an opportunity to be like, gosh, the five year olds just can't get it together.
Kids are traveling all over the place.
It's absolute lunacy.
Spencer, can I interject for one second here i want to give
all our listeners across the network a peek behind the curtain of the last time
trent graced us with his presence on this show when he hopped on for a couple minutes
at five-year-old basketball there's a really loud whistle that we all heard before we got started
and trent was like was that me like where's where's that coming from
Is that me?
Like, where is that coming from?
Like, no, it was my roommate.
He's testing on his ref whistle right now.
Utah's still complaining.
That was good.
Can I point out the irony?
That was good.
I was just surprised at the quality of that joke,
because I am that UCLA has won three games in a row.
I want to follow up on what Spencer said about Iowa, because last year they scored like four points a game and won 10 games.
This year they scored 40 and we're upset with Kirk Barrett's want to throw
them out.
I think they're more entertaining to watch,
even though their formula is throw for 103 yards, run for 200,
play a little D and win.
Do you talk about UCLA or Iowa?
Yeah, it's the same. I it's and it can work it can
work but you got to get all the breaks i mean you have to thread the needle perfectly i was able to
do that last year against a joke of a schedule and they're doing those 40 points a game at home
they're doing them against sorry roman washington wisconsin we're not talking about elite level
squads by any means you're taking on middling teams.
You're doing it at home.
That is not a conversation.
Again, this was supposed to be the year.
The offense has made improvements, and this is all you can muster.
This is why it's so difficult.
And even with the improvements offensively, you take one small step back defensively,
you're getting what you're getting right now, a very average team,
a decent team at home and below
average certainly on the road all right well fair enough uh i know spencer before i think you're
only i can't keep track of who's staying and who's going but look hit me up with the wisconsin game
you're going into camp randall here on uh on saturday night nbc big 10 um what are your
thoughts on that game and Wisconsin?
Yeah, I'm curious to see if Oregon can get out of Oregon's own way.
They committed 12 penalties last week against Maryland,
six of which led to Terrapin first downs.
And if you parsed it out, probably led to 10 points for Maryland
that they wouldn't have otherwise put on the scoreboard.
So if they can clean that up, they can win by even more than 21 points,
which is what they won by against Maryland last week.
But fortunately for the Ducks, that's where they are at right now,
is 12 penalties, sloppy offensive play, missing a starting guard,
and their star wide receiver in Tez Johnson win by 21 points.
Yeah.
It's a good time in Eugene right now.
They have high class problems for the moment.
Yeah, getting it dialed in.
They're good to go.
Still number one.
Who else is leaving me next segment?
I got to get a prediction coming in.
I can't keep track of you.
Is it Trent?
Okay.
Trent, you're on a bye.
I'm out of here, too.
You're not going to lose as well.
All right.
My prediction is pain.
Okay.
Well, you got a week to rest and take care with
the bye we'll continue as we look ahead into this weekend right here as the squad continues

We're down to Zach and Roma.
Thank you very much.
West Coast version of the Big Ten as we move into the weekend.
All right, guys.
You know, it's fitting you guys play each other here this weekend.
We've got Friday night under the lights.
Let's break it down a little bit here.
It's like the old Pac-12 after dark, if you will, Big Ten style.
Let's start with you, Zach.
Your thoughts on this game on Friday night.
I guess the big thing is UCLA has been one of the better run defenses in the country which is surprising after
all they lost last year washington likes to throw it a little bit more tell me if i'm wrong roman
but they'll throw it a little bit more than say iowa will and ironically this might be one of
the toughest games remaining for ucla right i'm not sure what what USC poses, right? Whether they're doing recruiting violations,
where Mark's doing, who knows what they're going to do.
Fresno State, who knows?
Washington, with their probably last true chance at a sixth win,
and this is a game UCLA would love to have
to get to that easier path to six wins for a bowl.
Road game, Friday night, they're feeling good,
but a team that throws the ball could spell a little bit more trouble
for the Bruins than the last three games have.
I, Zach, I think hit the nail on the head there where, you know, I talked about some of the off field stuff that's going on there,
where it's going to be a blackout at senior night, all that other stuff is going on.
But, yeah, absolutely. Where, you know, I'm now Spencer's gone.
I'm glad we don't have to talk about Oregon as much.
But I start to mention them because that's who Washington's only other game on the schedule is after UCLA.
And, you know, I'm not going to get into that game because I don't have to think about it for another couple of weeks, which is great.
But when I when I look at it, yeah, you're absolutely right, Zach.
This is going to be a really great shot for Washington to become bowl eligible, which is so important for the future of this program.
Jed Fish talked on Monday and we talked about it over on Lockdown Huskies. really great shot for Washington to become bowl eligible, which is so important for the future of this program.
Jed fish talked on Monday and we talked about it over on lockdown Huskies.
One of the first things he said was, Hey, I've got a, you know, really,
really high chance.
He put it at 90% that Jonah Coleman returns to 2025 and everything,
everything with the messaging this year has been, we're building,
we're building, we're building.
And with the full transfer portal with the full off season,
some of the guys that are coming in from the high school class,
it really does feel like 2025 can be a much, much more kind year for the Huskies.
And maybe they'll get on Craig's good side, which would also be wonderful.
But with all of that to say, a huge part of that is getting those 15 extra practices for a bowl game, if it is the LA Bowl, whatever it might be.
That is so important.
And just, it would mean so much to, I know,
these older guys, but these young guys as well.
I think that's a good point.
Roman, I do think the Huskies are a good football team,
but they are two different teams.
Road team, not so good.
Home team, pretty formidable.
Can you put your finger on it, what it is?
I know it was the kicking game.
I remember the Rutgers game just kept missing kicks, but can you put your finger on what,
why they struggle on the road? It's, it's been a little bit of everything. I think that's the
frustrating part where I can all take it all the way back to a neutral site game against Washington
state. It was shoot yourself in the foot with 16 penalties in that game. And Craig, you mentioned
the kicking game at Rutgers. And then you go to Iowa, you get out physical, you go to Indiana, you have a couple of costly turnovers in the wrong
spot. And then Penn state is Penn state. They're just a good football team this year. And they ran
right through it. So it's been a little bit of everything, but it it's, it's one of the things
that, you know, at the beginning of the season, I felt, you know, somewhere in the eight and four
ballpark was a realistic expectation for this team because of all the talent.
But at different points this year,
it's looked like exactly what it is,
which is just hard to think about
coming off of a 14 and one season
where you were in the national championship.
And that's a football team that has 21 new starters,
the majority of whom weren't even there for spring practice.
A lot of those guys were not there.
So the only time they had together
was through the summer and into the fall.
And then the first couple of games at home where you get comfortable,
you do all that sort of stuff.
And you have to go to some of these other environments.
And it just hasn't looked the same.
Zach, I think the thing that I took out of the win over Iowa
that I thought was kind of cool, actually, after all the struggles,
you got a head coach, Deshaun Foster, former,
former running back, uh, your running back,
I believe got his first hundred yard rushing game of the season.
And then you shut down a great running back in Caleb Johnson with Iowa.
I mean, that was, it was a running back centric game plan and it worked and it
got the win. I thought that was a cool sub story. Yeah, it it's pretty cool it's the first home win for deshaun foster all those games have come on the
road funny enough uh roman you guys have to keep this up ucla's played in five straight sellouts
on the road so even though yeah yeah they're not afraid of a cool atmosphere when it comes to the
run game all i've been hoping for for the ucla run games that they get to like 125 yards and
that's beyond what they've done the entire season.
And if they kept Iowa too close to that number, it'd be a good game.
Well, the Bruins blew right past that number offensively.
They kept Iowa and Caleb Johnson well below that.
Whatever quarterback Iowa seemed to go down the depth chart after, I think, the injury
to Sullivan and how poorly he performed before that UCLA proved they are still a physical defense and that those numbers yards per carry,
the rushing rushing yards per game. Those are serious things.
I'm not sure they'll play a big time factor necessarily in this game.
If Washington wants to throw the ball 50 times,
that might lead them more to victory in this game. But Hey,
if both these programs go to a bowl game,
that's huge for first year coaches enrollment. Another maybe you should buy an oregon duck pillow rip it on the air when you do
that crossover with spencer just rip it open or mail it to him with the stuffing pulled out right
that would be something that he can open on the air i i like both these ideas i think this is
fantastic kind of like you know the the old godfather horse's head sort of thing i i think
you're you're on the right track there maybe Maybe a duck, you know, like a stuffed puddles or whatever.
There are a lot of different ways we can go there.
But, Zach, I really like where you're going with this,
where the matchup, now that you talk a little bit more about it,
one matchup that I'm really intrigued to see is that UCLA rushing offense
versus Washington's rushing defense,
where they really struggled against Caleb Johnson.
They struggled against Penn State this past week.
Indiana ran right through them, where that's been the issue where, you know, a couple of
it is because they lost a bunch of guys last year or a couple of guys retired, a couple
went to the draft.
And then throughout the course of the season, Washington's best defensive tackle, Javon
Parker, suffered a torn Achilles against Rutgers.
And then since that point, the Huskies haven't necessarily had a stellar run defense outside
of, I want to say the Michigan game game where they look really good and did a great
job against Cleo Mullings, especially, but the more I look at it,
the more I say, all right,
how are you going to find a way to stop the run Washington is a great
defensive coordinator and Steve Belichick,
but it seems like the personnel isn't quite there yet. And when, you know,
I talked a little bit earlier about the transfer portal,
all that sort of stuff. That's the position.
I think they need to hit the hardest this off season.
So that's a matchup I'm gonna be watching really closely on friday i want to get both of your
thoughts on your quarterback situation zach we'll start with you ethan garber's struggled early they
got hurt and then since he came back from the injury he's been he's been pretty good uh what's
your assessment of the quarterback position at ucla yeah it was pretty good until he turned it
over three times against iowa right pick drive the field, ugly pick when they should have ran the ball,
and then fumbles the ball out of the end zone.
So it was pretty ugly in the first half.
And despite all that, UCLA found a way to win.
And I think what Eric Biennemi has found as the offensive coordinator,
I think that's more the big switch there than it is Garbers,
because Garbers is who he is.
If you call the right plays, you protect him, he can do better than most, but then there might be an ugly game
like you had against Iowa.
There's no denying that.
But I've been in the Garber's camp for the majority of the season,
and I think he's just, until the Iowa game, limited the mistakes
and just been a much better play calling, much better design of swinging
and hitting on the run game.
And then last game, when you have a running game
that's getting 200 yards that takes the pressure off his shoulders and if he makes a mistake
just know they can do something else so he's done a little bit better but the clear better
quarterback i think is uh up in seattle for this weekend's game well let's talk about roman because
i um i'm not typically a big fan of two quarterback systems or change of pace guys but i actually am with you
guys and i actually think they should do it a little more to change the percentages a little
bit what do you think so first of all shout out to ethan garbers former husky every quarterback
that will play in this game has been in purple and gold at one point so i'd love to see but i
craig i like where you're going with this where where, you know, Jed Fish backed Will Rogers as a starter. He said that's not anything that's changing.
But I'm so high on everything Devon Williams does.
He is such a talented kid.
And it looks like we're going to see somewhere between 15 to 20 snaps
for him in this game, where that's what Jed kind of alluded to on Monday,
said it would be similar to other, you know, home games against Michigan,
against USC, where everything they've been doing with him is,
it's all very tactical this season.
It's all to prepare him to take the reins next year
and go out at full throttle.
So, Craig, I like where you're going with this
because the more we see of DeMond,
the better he's going to be in the future.
Where Jed was like, yeah, it was great that,
obviously it's not great that I go down 28
after the first half,
but it's great that we were able to get demand as many snaps as we did.
Played a career high 32 and he looked solid for the most part against a really good pass rush
that got to him in the fourth quarter behind an offensive line that's still piecing things
together. But the more we see from demand in every game this season, the just, he continues to build
and keep continues to be put out there in different situations and just is asked to do more and more and more.
It's only going to benefit him in the long run. So I think, you know,
especially that's one of the reasons getting bowl eligible is so critical
where I feel that if Washington is able to get to a bowl game,
we might go as far to see, you know,
something like split drives or split quarters or whatever it is.
We're going to find a way to see more demand Williams.
If Washington get that sixth win and it
starts by putting them in there to change the pace maybe throw a couple of passes and find ways to
keep ucla off balance in this game yeah i like it all right guys on your game let's get a final
prediction and score if you don't mind zach what how he's gonna be high scoring low scoring what
do you think well i've done this thing in my show locked on ucla i've invoked the bet against ucla
rules so every game i bet against them they're now 3-0 after choosing to beat Minnesota.
So I will do the same here.
UCLA fans, I'm still confident, but this is the toughest game remaining.
And that includes the USC game.
This is the toughest game remaining.
This is their first road night game of the year.
So that's something to take in consideration.
The atmosphere, no slight to the fans up in Seattle.
They've seen
it literally all year so that there's going to be no atmosphere they've been untested i think
washington wins this 24 21 and invoked the bet against ucla rule and it's been working
roman how do you see it going well i am the world's biggest jinx so i usually refrain from
making predictions of any kind.
But what I do love is I love giving bold predictions.
So, Craig, I'm going to piggyback off your Demond Williams take there.
And I'm going to say we see 18 snaps from Demond Williams.
I think we're going to see him score a touchdown running.
And I think he's going to throw a touchdown in this game.
And I'm just going to say for my prediction part of it that I agree with Zach.
That's where I'll go with that.
All right.
We will take a quick look at the remaining games with the guys here around the Big Ten
as the squad continues.

All right, back on Lockdown Big Ten, the squad version here, guys.
We talked about your game, UCLA-Washington Friday night.
Saturday, we got Ohio State's taking on Northwestern.
That shouldn't be a problem for the Buckeyes.
The coolest part of that game, it's at Wrigley Field, right?
And I think it's Northwestern's homecoming,
which is odd to have Ohio State.
Do they have a Go Cubs Go chant break out in the middle of that game?
They might.
They might do that.
That's a good idea.
And then, in fact, you know, Big Ten on Fox,
or the Big Noon kickoff at Fox,
they're going to the Big 12 this weekend because, I mean,
we've got Ohio State, Northwestern at noon.
At 2-3, we've got Michigan State and Illinois.
Both of those teams are kind of falling off a little bit.
And then I don't know who does the scheduling in the Big Ten office for Purdue,
but they had Ohio State last week.
Now they've got Penn State.
How big is that blowout going to be?
They better get the the
blowout material ready for the second half of that broadcast huh oh i mean after having to watch penn
state that is a team that is coming off that ohio state loss angry and they're gonna push in every
way and shape and form especially with the indiana ohio state matchup coming up pretty quickly here
to try to find a way to make it into the big 10 championship i predicted that they would be in the
big 10 championship before the season
started. I did say they'd play Ohio state. So, you know, we'll,
we'll see how that goes over the next couple of weeks,
but I was really impressed with that defense.
And Abdul Carter is just somebody who the more I watch him,
the more I like him. And I think he's gonna be a top 10 pick come this next
spring.
Yeah. Penn state Purdue. It'd be, it'll be interesting. It'd be ugly.
It was that Ohio state Penn state, and then a couple of weeks, indiana so that's three of the toughest games in your last four weeks of
the season that's a brutal ending stretch for an already one and eight purdue team who most on the
show thought would get their first big 10 win that over ucla you know in terms of who would get the
race there faster just just saying ucla is doing just fine good job good job actually the most
interesting game on the board might be the Nebraska
USC game.
That's a four o'clock Eastern on Fox.
And it's interesting because both teams had high expectations.
Both teams are kind of stuck in a rut.
What do you guys think that Matt rule brought in Dana Holgerson in to be a
consultant.
And then three days later, he's the offensive coordinator.
What'd you guys think about that?
That I, I was, I remember saying that it was like oh all right this this is certainly something that's happened I I do want to say one thing though just in in terms of this game this is now
I I feel like I said this last week as well now two years in a row where Washington has forced
major changes at USC and Zach not only is the guy, but as somebody who grew up in L.A. myself,
I think it's absolutely fantastic that we get to see this after, you know,
getting Alex Grinch fired last year, now forcing a quarterback change.
I think that's really funny.
I honestly think Nebraska can find a way to win big in this game.
I was not very impressed with USC outside of Woody Marks, where I love Woody Marks.
I think Zachariah Branch is really talented.
But this USC team is not where it needs to be right now.
Yeah. Zach?
Well, I'd like to see Nebraska win.
And then if USC has to come to UCLA
and the loser is eliminated potentially from bowl eligibility
and it's at the Rose Bowl to keep USC from playing in a bowl,
barring the five and seven nonsense that we sometimes see
with all those extra bowl games, that would be dope. so if Nebraska takes care of business that'd be something I think it'll be
pretty close I think we've got four pretty even matchups this week they're not involving top
teams in the big 10 but this is one of them and the Cornhuskers can do it but you know if it's a
one score game you have to take USC because Nebraska one score game you just can't choose
them to win that's just my philosophy we got ruckers at maryland at least those two teams won't have
to travel all the way across the country a fairly regional game six o'clock eastern on fs1 and then
as we go uh we talked about when spencer was here the number one ducks taking on wisconsin and he
kind of alluded foreshadowed a little bit hey the number one team never gets knocked off in a game
in november he was tongue-in-cheek obviously Could this be in? I don't know that Wisconsin has enough
firepower, but Camp Randall is a tough place to play. Guys, close me out on your thoughts
on this game. Zach, what do you think? I think Spencer sounds like a script writer for the NFL.
I just hope it doesn't involve a block of a field goal to get the Chiefs to victory for Oregon in
this case, right? That equivalent in this game. It'd be interesting to see if Wisconsin can give them a game. I'm not sure that's entirely the
case considering Alabama blew out Wisconsin earlier. I think Oregon, if their heads are
focused, they'll dominate. But, you know, they have lapses for a quarter or many plays throughout
the game, which maybe that happens once or maybe they'll happen against Washington in a couple
weeks. We'll see how that goes. If they do, maybe it'll be fun in a late-night kickoff.
I just don't see that happening.
Roman, final thought.
Oh, well, I mean, I'm never going to say that I'm rooting for Oregon
to win a game.
Never.
I don't care.
That's never something that's going to happen.
But I will say, if all that energy, that positivity,
if they want to go in there, find a way to get a big win,
and then they're riding this high and say, oh oh washington whatever the record may be after friday night
oh that's that's who we got have to beat to be 12 and oh they get overconfident they find a way to
you know maybe maybe a couple things go wrong here and there i'm sure that over on the lockdown
duck channel they'll be like oh he's delusional because you know of course the washington guy
saying that sort of thing. I don't care.
I'd love to see something like that happen because there's nothing
that would bring me more joy in what has been an up and down season
for Washington than Oregon just finding a way to just let it slip
through their fingers, as Zach knows all too well,
as us Pac-12 guys do.
Yeah.
All right.
