The Big Ten has a big week one highlighted by the win for Ohio State over Texas.
What does that mean in the battle for conference supremacy with the SEC?
We look ahead to week two and talk all things on the Big Ten Squad.
You're talking ball with the Big Ten Squad, sponsored by game time.
From USC to Ohio State, from Michigan to Oregon, from Nebraska to Washington,
it's the local experts of the Locked-on Podcast Network,
bringing you scoops, breakdowns, and the most comprehensive preview of the upcoming
Big Ten weekend. No hurt feelings and thin skin allowed. Squad up, you're part of the Big Ten
Squad. Happy Thursday, everybody. Welcome to this week's Locked on Big Ten Squad. I'm Spencer McLaughlin,
your host, Neutral Arbiter of all things, college football, of course, Zach Zika, locked on
Nittany Lions, Ryan Herings, locked on Badgers, Jacob Goans, locked on Hoosiers, hey, they beat Old
Dominion, nice job. Jay Stevens, locked on Buckeyes with the win of the weekend college football.
Mark Colkin, locked on USC, Roman Thomashoff of Locked on Hussees, Trent Condon, locked on
Hawkeyes, let's hop right into it, guys. Jay, we got to start with you. Ohio State beats Texas.
Nobody was, okay, Goans gets credit. Going Goans, full credit. Goens thought Ohio State we win. The rest
of us were on Texas, including you, by the way. So the magical formula for Ohio State to win a big
game is just have Jay Stevens pick against the Buckeyes. It's got to be a tradition at this point, right?
I think so. I think we have to keep this thing rolling, even if Oregon and Ohio State play in the playoff or a Big Ten championship, I still might pick against them because the last time I did that, Spencer, we all know what happened. Was it 34-0? Was that the lead at one point?
I hate this squad more than life itself sometimes. Jay, you're absolutely right. Yes, it was.
Wow, yeah, Roman, were you playing in that game?
No, sorry, you're at the Sun Bowl. Yeah, all right. All right, go ahead, Jay. Go ahead, Jay.
I will say one prediction I had for that game was kind of what actually happened that I didn't think heartline in saying we'll be able to get into a rhythm.
But it wasn't saying's fault.
Saying while his numbers weren't sexy, he did what he needed to do.
He took care of the ball.
He had commanded the offense.
If there weren't the drops that they had, he would have had a pretty good stat line for a guy starting his first game up against a really good defense.
The offense was really poor.
It was the second lowest total yardage for a right.
Ryan Day offense since the loss to Missouri and the Cotton Bowl in 2023, and that's a whole
different scenario. But that's off to Ryan Day. Matt Patricia was a wizard in that game. He
confused not only Archmanning, but Sarkeesian all day long. Well, at least one Belichick tree coach
was able to be competent on week one of college football. Zach Seiko locked on Nittany
Lions. No problems against Nevada, I take it, for a team that some, some have said should be
the favorites in the Big Ten this year. Yeah, no problems at all. Penn State allowed its first and only
touchdown when the reserves. The third, fourth string defense was in under 30 seconds left to go
in the game. So backdoor cover by Nevada. But the passing game looks so much better. It was nice
getting wide receivers involved, not just a little bit, but a lot. They had Kyron Hudson go for six
catches, 89 yards, and a touchdown. Trevor Pena had seven catches, 74 yards. I get it. It's against Nevada.
But it's just the look and feel of the passing game at this point in time, regardless of
opponent, that there is an initiative to get the wide receivers involved.
So I like where the passing game is heading at this point.
By the way, Trent, wide receivers are players on the outside of an offense that catch
passes from the quarterback pretty consistently.
I just wanted to make sure we're all on the same page there.
A guy knows a thing or two about receivers.
Mark Colkin locked on USC.
They got involved on Saturday.
did they not mark yeah they did what they were supposed to um look it's hard to get excited about
beating a team called missouri state but when you put up 73 points you can i guess smile
say they did their job we'll see what happens this week i i hate these types of out-of-conference
games i give props to to ohio state texas playing that type of game i give props to alabama and
Florida State playing that game, Clemson, LSU.
I love that type of stuff.
I get no joy other than, hey, U.S.C. 1 playing Missouri State.
That's all I got to say about.
Yeah, Herrings, would you rather talk about your Badgers or how Wisconsin is one and
a conference that picked up a marquee win over Texas and didn't have some of the
struggles that the SEC had in some certain spots?
Let's talk badgers, baby.
Let's go.
Okay.
that's a decision. I didn't force him into it, guys. I didn't force them.
Why would you want to do that?
I don't know. You gave him the choice.
You're right.
Unlike Mark, I am going to get excited.
I'll say this. I'll say this.
The Badgers, if you look at it among teams that played actual FBS opponents,
sorry, Indiana. Among teams that played actual FBS opponents.
Old Dominion is an FBS opponent by definition.
Montana.
It was Montana State.
the better one.
Wisconsin is actually first in the country in yards allowed.
They allowed 117 yards.
They shut Miami of Ohio out.
It was a fun game.
It was good.
I mean, you don't take a lot out of it other than the defense looked and proved.
I will say this.
There was that one point in the game.
It was three nothing.
A lot of punts.
Nobody was scoring.
And my buddy leaned over after an interception and said, I think we're Iowa now.
You wish.
You wish.
What's Iowa are away?
Our Iowa are away to 7-8 wins.
Let's go.
For the guy down there that thought the Badger would win one game this.
this year, the Big 10.
Yep, he still do.
That's crazy.
This defense looks good.
They shut them out, 117 yards allowed.
We're going to Iowa our way to eight wins this year, baby.
By the way, Ryan, when you say shut them out, who is, who is M in that sentence?
It doesn't matter.
Oh, okay.
You pitch the shut out.
You pitch the shut out.
Yeah, yeah.
I think it was Western, Western Michigan?
Miami of Ohio.
We played Western Michigan last year, and they gave us more trouble, actually.
Right.
Yeah, that's right. That wasn't great either. Roman, week one report for the Huskies.
Do you think that in their present form, they would go toe to toe with a team in the middle of the SEC?
In the middle of the SEC, yeah, absolutely. Where I, Washington 3821, I had a lot of texts, including from you, Spencer, saying, what happened?
I'm just looking at the scoreboard. Washington posted over 500 yards of offense. I've seen a lot of people complain about the rushing defense.
outside of the first quarter, Washington gave up 14 yards on the ground in this game.
Colorado State scored on an illegal formation that was not called,
and apparently Brian Walter said the refs leaned over to him after that.
I just said, sorry, so you know, you can take that for what it is.
But no, Washington looked really solid.
Jonah Coleman, Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week for 170 yards, two touchdowns.
He looked absolutely tremendous.
That trio of him, DeMond Williams, and Denzel Boston is going to be one of the best of the country,
may be the best in the Big Ten. Just that trio. I'm so excited what they bring to the table,
and they really are going to carry Washington to an extra win this season at some point.
Goens, we know that Kurt Signetti certainly doesn't want the SEC smoke. He just wants
an SEC scheduling philosophy, but has he adopted that philosophy that the SEC just, you know,
doesn't actually do, but that's a different conversation perhaps? Is that because he knows in the
back, in his heart of hearts, that Old Dominion is capable of coming out and running this
revolutionary play. I believe it's called the Reed option. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's it. That's
it. That was literally all it was. They had a 75-yard touchdown run with the quarterback and a 78-yard
touchdown run with the quarterback. And that was it. That's the only thing that Old Dominion did.
But yeah, Kurtzignan needed to figure out how to stop that before he could talk trash about the
SEC. Look, Old Dominion is not bad, but they're not good either. And if you take away two massive runs
and you look at the game as a whole, Indiana dominated it.
They just got stopped inside the five twice on offense.
Fernando Mendoza was fine.
He was average.
Receivers didn't get involved, but Indiana ran the rock like crazy.
So I'm not worried.
Don't worry.
We ramp up the competition this week.
The Owls of Kennesaw State come to town.
We're going to be fine.
It's okay.
Indiana is still a good football team.
Yeah, that's another tough one there.
Kennesaw State.
Woo!
I mean, do you think they would beat the Mono?
Monarchs of Old Dominion? I mean, who? By the way, the Monarchs, no relation to Monarch money, one of our sponsors here at the Lockdown Network.
But Trent, Sihawk game this week. We'll talk about that matchup later on today's show.
But week one of the Mark Grinowski era was what, in your view?
Hideous. It was absolutely deplorable. It was awful. And after six years of this adaptitude, no way it was finally fixed.
If Carson Beck was not the quarterback of Miami right now, it would be Mark Grinowski.
In fact, Mark Karnowski was wanted by Miami.
Iowa, I'll bid them.
And here we are with 44 yards of passing the same garbage once again.
It is absolute crap.
And for the fifth year in a row, Iowa has been sold a bill of goods of awfulness
at the quarterback position.
The good news, Hawkeye still find ways to win.
Sorry, getting herrings up there, Goens.
Both you guys will ugly our way to victories against both you.
Look at the combination of those two last names.
We have we have Hoans in the top.
right corner of the locked on big 10 squad hoans up there that are just Iowa haters 44 passing yards
there was a run against Indiana that was almost twice as long as as that nice virtual fist pump there
guys I think we're going to look ahead to week two talk about what we saw in the SEC some more as well

This episode also brought to you by our friends at Mazda.
Mazda's moving the game forward brought to you by those who believe it's not just about playing the game.
redefining it because these moments do more than when they push what's possible they
remind us to go that extra yard shift into that extra gear and keep moving the game forward i am
begrudgingly going to shout out ohio state quarterback julian saying in this spot because he didn't
have the best numbers but he got a huge win in his first career start didn't make a mistake
had a big touchdown pass and sometimes to move your team forward that's all you have to do
Julian Sayan did that, he could be prone to have even bigger games going forward this season.
When you follow what moves you, the unexpected is only the beginning.
And just like there's more to every highlight, there's more to a Mazda vehicle.
Mazda move and be moved.
The Big Ten had a great week one.
We do not count Northwestern and UCLA.
We're all going to vote to just kick them out of the conference at this point for ruining what would have been an 18 and O week.
We could have been perfect.
We could have been perfect.
Wildcats and the Bruins goodness.
That was not particularly good.
But this continuing conversation with the Big Ten having won the last two national championships,
the SEC not having even been a part of those two national championship games,
Ryan Herring's a locked on badgers.
I start with you.
You're incredibly familiar with the national title discussion, of course,
as the host of Locked on Badgers.
So what do you make of where these conferences are at right now?
Ohio State, the big win.
Not a ton of other marquee matchups.
necessarily for the Big Ten, but I felt like with Ohio States, when they, they did more than
just hold serve. Oh, absolutely. And then you look at Alabama, right, Florida State, that game,
where Alabama, quite frankly, that score wasn't indicative of that game. I felt like Florida
State really kind of walked them up and down the field, which, by the way, Wisconsin plays Alabama
this year. I'm suddenly feeling a little better about that. That's maybe not stop. I see you smiling,
Spencer. I was not going to go about there and beautiful. I don't know what I did. I look. Nothing's
possible at this point nothing nothing seems impossible no it just feels like a little more the
same the big 10 has gotten better they continue to be the conference that the cc is trying to catch up to
at this point and anything else is just a fallacy perpetuated by legacy legacy voices that haven't
come to terms with the current uh landscape of college football i thought it was a great opening
weekend big 10 did great by the way shout out to northwestern for finishing negative five in the
turnover margin i know you know yeah that wasn't good wow but yeah more
More the same for the Big Ten, and quite frankly, more the same for the SEC.
Goins, your thoughts.
Look, I think the two teams that looked the best for the Southeastern conference were LSU taking down Clemson,
but Tennessee against Syracuse, like two SEC teams against two ACC teams.
Every other team in the SEC was eh, right?
I mean, there wasn't a whole lot going on in that conference.
Auburn was a good win.
I'll give you that.
Yeah, Auburn on the road at Baylor on that Friday.
That was a solid win.
But the Big Ten did what it had to do, took care of business.
and the smaller games and will continue to show that it's the best conference top to bottom
in college football. And I think the middle of the pack and the big 10 is going to be so much
fun down the stretch this year. And you saw that early in week one. Trent, what do you make of
the SEC landscape or are you just focused on Sihawk this week? No, I get a kick out of all the
angst we've heard from Alabama. We don't have as much money. I'm poor. Look at me. You've been
cheating for decade after decade. And now everybody,
else can actually spend money. And look how the other half lives. Those elephant tears. I'm
absolutely loving from Alabama. I thought it was crocodile tears. No, they're elephant. You know,
Big Al. Oh, I see. I see. I was. Come on. I knew what you meant. Okay. Okay. Good. I'm,
I'm glad. Jay, the SEC is, of course, no problem for Ohio State. But apparently no one is.
Five straight wins against top 10 opponents for Ryan Day. And yet somehow, what are we,
get four straight losses to Michigan, three straight losses.
You didn't have to bring that up.
You could have kept that.
No, I didn't have to.
You didn't have to bring up a certain score earlier today.
It doesn't feel very nice, does it, Gerald?
So anyway, uh, Ryan Day is on a bit of a heater right now, right?
He is.
He is.
He has put his team in a situation with the money that he can spend to be one of the best
rosters and have one of the best coaching staffs in the country.
Let's not gloss over the fact that Spencer, I mean, Spencer,
Trent brought up the money and the money is real.
I think the middle of the Big Ten is going to be better because they can start spending money that they are spending in the South for decades.
And so you will get that middle of the pack.
They'll be better.
And if we do get a Big Ten SEC challenge, I think the people in the South will start to get really upset because those teams in the middle of the conference that the South Eastern Conference used to beat, all of a sudden, the Big Ten will start winning some of those games.
I think we saw that in bowl season last year.
I think we've seen that in other postseason environments.
like the college football playoff for instance by the way mark don't worry this isn't a shot at
USC but down in the city of los angeles i just want to have a a quick word of advice for any sports
team franchise at any level don't set up a fake business to pay your superstar to avoid the
luxury tax this is not this is not the way to do it la clippers i mean goodness gracious mark
Like, what's going on down there in that city?
I'm a Lakers guy, so you don't want to.
Look, how many of you, I have two questions.
And Jay, this is not to disrespect Ohio State's win,
but have that game been played in Texas, what's the outcome?
I think it's the same.
Probably the same because of the defense.
I'm not looking to debate this.
And again, it wasn't a knock.
Where I really want to go with this, did anybody watch ESPN Game Day?
Yes.
Okay.
Did you start to notice the narrative shifting already to how we should be giving credit to the teams that play these tough out-of-conference games?
And how all of a sudden, you know, 10 and 2 versus 9 and 3 based on, you know, strength of schedule.
This is what I've been talking about.
This is why I don't like these Kennesaw State, Old Dominion, Georgia Southerns, Southwest, Southwest, Missouri State.
dropping the Southwest to become just Missouri State.
These games do nothing for our programs
other than you're writing a check
to support a lower level program
for the entire year.
That's their athletic department's payroll.
So this is why all of a sudden
now the narrative with the SEC is,
well, look, you know,
we're playing non-conference games
and we're willing to go to Columbus, Ohio,
and put our record on the line.
This is what's going on now.
So all of a sudden, we're spending the money
and as, as Trent said, you know, Alabama's crying, you know, elephant tears.
This is how convoluted everything is right now.
We can make fun of the SEC.
I love making fun of the SEC.
But we got to start scheduling up again.
So for everybody, you know, the James Signetti is saying, you know,
we're going to schedule on the SEC type of out-acompson schedule.
Kurt, Kurt, Kurt, Kurtz, who is James Signetti?
It's very well because all of the same.
of the SEC's playing nine conference games.
He's the younger, better brother of Kurt.
Watch out.
Whoa.
Maybe you'll go high schedule.
One power four out of conference game as well, so now you're up to 10.
Look, let's just, let's not say, hey, we're better than the SEC right now.
It's all going to come crashing back down as soon as everything starts getting balanced out.
That's all I'm saying.
I think the Big Ten has got a pretty solid that sort of trajectory.
I don't disagree.
Everybody should be playing.
I've said it a thousand times.
on my show, every single power four team should play at least one power four non-conference team
and nine conference games. Done. And I want to make sure, I agree with that. I, Mark, I say it on
my show. I said it all summer. I hate that Indiana plays Old Dominion, Kennesaw State, and Indiana
state three games in a row to start the year. That sucks. Nobody likes that. Nobody, that's not
entertaining. Like, I'm totally with you all that. And I get the five, I get the five. And I did not
expect them to jump into the top 25 but the coaches poll dropped them two spots they had 116 votes
going into their first game they have 40 after the game make it make sense i yeah i don't i don't know
how to make that makes sense i don't know that i don't know that you necessarily can't i'm not i'm not
against having some buy games out there because i understand the reality of the the finances in college
But imagine if Indiana opened with Old Dominion and then this week was just playing like Louisville.
Indiana Louisville this week.
It would be great.
I love it.
Just anything like that that could add some interest and entry.
We'll wrap the second segment with Roman, who I swear got put at the end by accident.
That was, I did.
It wasn't like that in the first segment and then it happened when Seiko left.
I don't know, I don't know how Stream Yard does all of this.
But country roads take us home for the SEC conversation right now through week one.
Oh, I do enjoy continuing to bag on the SEC.
The one thing I really like this conversation that you guys have continued to bring up with playing more powerful, you know, non-conference schools.
And, you know, with Washington being able to continue the rivalry with the Apple Cup of Washington State.
I love that.
And I'm somewhat torn because, you know, like you guys can RIP PAC 12 always and forever.
But I look at this and I say like for, you know, Spencer,
I feel like with your neutral arbitrage ship,
maybe you don't have this opinion right now.
But with Oregon, Oregon State,
is this the kind of game that should count in this department as well?
Where, yeah, it's like a lower level right now
in terms of the talent with, you know, funds and all this other stuff.
But in terms of, you know, as we continue to move forward
in this new world of college football,
copper three alignment and all these other things,
are these games that should not only be protected, you know, for rivalry's sake
and everything else like that.
Oklahoma, Oklahoma State is another one I think of in this,
in the same ballpark.
But are these ones that should just also be valued to a certain extent by schedules and everything else?
Because these are games that still should greatly matter in the world of college football.
I just won't throw that out there.
I agree.
Here's a stat.
And I'll wrap it with this.
And then we'll talk about week two.
Kansas and Missouri play this week for the first time since 2011.
These schools are driving distance from one another and have a historic rivalry.
The last time it was played was 14 years ago.
before 2012 when it wasn't played and hasn't been played since the last time those two programs
didn't play each other was 1918 pre great depression that was the last year they didn't play
I don't want to see those sorts of games go away so Roman I am I am with you there we're going to
look ahead to week to bounce around get everybody's thoughts on the matchup how the big 10 can
continue a strong start to the season. That's coming up next on the Lockdown Big Ten Squad.
First, this episode brought to you by DoorDash. It's almost the weekend. Time to look back
and crown this week's MVP on who delivered, powered by DoorDash. Just like you can win every
Saturday with DoorDash streaks, saving more every time you order. These players delivered
when it mattered most. Let's break it down. You know what? Just for my guy, Roman, I'll start
with Jonah Coleman, was running like a man possessed. In a game that was more uncomfortable than Husky
fans would have liked. Jonah Coleman started to take that game over in a big, big way.
DeMond Williams made some plays too, but man, Jonah Coleman was running like something was trying
to get out of him on that particular day. And you know what? Let's shout out the Wisconsin
defense while we're out of. Yeah, they were playing Miami of Ohio, but what should you do
against the Red Hawks? You should pitch a shutout. Miami of Ohio was on the butt end of that
because Wisconsin's defense showed up big time. So just like those teams showed up with key players,
delivers your Saturdays. With DoorDash

will be upon us shortly
perhaps by the time you're listening to or watching
this show. Ryan
Herring's locked on Badgers. Let's start with you.
How does that vantage
Wisconsin defense. Number one in the country, as you pointed out. Wisconsin is number one,
at least through one week. How do they follow that up this week? And who do they follow it up with?
Well, they play Middle Tennessee State, so I think that's how they followed up this week.
Who just dropped the game to Austin P at 34 to 14, the first win over the-
They lost to the governors?
The first time the governors had beaten a D-1 program since 1987.
Oh, banger of a game.
Shout out the UAC.
I think how the badgers continue that momentum is they scheduled wisely.
Their momentum is going to continue.
I will say really quick because the lockdown Purdue is not here.
Our guy's not here.
Ryan Brown leads the Big Ten in passing yardage with 310.
And for a Purdue team that's been super down, they play, I think, I don't know,
they play somebody terrible this week.
Southern Illinois.
Thank you.
They're going to be 2 and O with Ryan Brown, who, by the way, really quick,
I'll end on this.
he's one of my zombie badgers so players that i interview that i think are going to come to
the badgers but don't eventually make it go on to my zombie badgers roster he's been on the
long come badgers show ryan brown shout out to zombie badgers so it's great to see him succeed
uh boiler up that program needs some happiness so probably going to go to it up
mind the zombie badger ryan brown listen to that praise for purdue how about it going's
it's not enough that we hired a peru guy now we got to talk about it's not even here
Oh, we got to speak success into existence for those.
Romance going on there, Ryan.
I heard something in your voice.
It's the first name bond, you know, guys named Ryan.
They stick together.
They do.
Roman, Washington, this week.
Give us a 60-second outlook.
Yeah, the vaunted UC Davis.
Aggies are coming to town.
Oh, don't sleep.
Don't sleep.
Hey, top 10 in the FCS, number seven right now, right?
But I actually, I'm really interested in this matchup.
I think their quarterback, Caden Pinnick.
is really, really talented.
And it's something that Washington fans have been, like I said a little earlier,
really unhappy with the defensive line play.
Even though I don't think when you go back,
you look at the advanced numbers,
it's anything to be mad about.
Washington had 17 pressures, 15 hurries,
and just two sacks against brainfowler, Nicolosi.
I almost said Caden Pinnock again for Colorado State last week.
But that's something where you go back and look at the numbers.
He had an average of 2.19 seconds to throw.
And against Caden Pinnock, who is a really mobile guy,
I'm intrigued to see what this is going to look like if they try to keep them in the pocket,
anything like that, because like I said earlier, we know what this offense is going to do.
It's full just superstar talents.
It's this defense that I want to see step up and just fill run lanes a little bit better
because if they can come out strong and just really overpower UC Davis like they're supposed to,
I think people are going to feel a lot better with a buy week and then Washington State on the other side of that.
Caden, Panic is the guy's name?
I thought it was Pennick.
So Pennick.
So Pennick.
It sounded a lot like penics, and I just was laughing at the irony of Washington is going to be out there.
Like, yeah, Pennick, no, no, no, not go against that guy.
Trent, over under 70 passing yards from Mark Grinowski this week.
Well, our friends at Fandu will have it at 136 and a half.
Under!
Under!
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my gosh.
Under of the week.
Coming up this week for everybody out there.
I will say that he goes over your total, though.
We'll get there in that one.
look iwas won six straight in ames iowa has not lost in at iowa state since 2011
matt campbell for all the accolades that he's gotten has never beat the hawkeyes in his own
building so iowa has a lot plus kirk bairts is going for the all-time big ten wins record
coming up this weekend plenty of motivation on the iowa side the problem iowa state actually
looks really good i don't have a good feeling about this game uh the way that the cyclones have looked
this first two weeks of the season i think iowa goes in there and does lose for the first time since
2011. I got a 2317 crappy cyclones. Did you guys hear Trent's just bottomed out mentality of
like, we'll get over 70 passing yards, I think. We'll get there. We'll get there. We'll get
there, but 135 under please. Jay Stevens, I presume a simpler matchup, but maybe a better
quarterback than Arch Manning on tap this week. I don't know. Who you got?
Oh, Grambling State, it's going to be a cakewalk.
It's going to be a game that I only care about halftime
because I care about Grambling State's marching band.
They're not going to be much of a test,
but Ohio State is going to have to be more explosive on offense.
That's one thing Ryan Day is preaching this week for the team to grow.
Offensively, it's still weird that saying played as well as he did
in the offense only at 200 yards of offense.
It's still wild to say that they won that game against Texas
when the offense really couldn't do anything.
I just think that they could just kind of roll in there and score 50 points as they should,
but they got to get the ground game going to.
I am a critical grader, and so even if they blow them out,
I'm trying to make sure they hit some stat marks in this game to see the necessary growth
from last week to this week.
Did anybody see the video meme comparing Archmanning to Uncle Rico?
Yeah.
Napoleon, I'm at my...
just the sidearm flick it was it was so good uh anyway uh mark the return again of clay
helton to los angeles i mean should he get a round of applause should he get booed like what what
are you feeling here about your old head coach that's actually been a topic of conversation going on
on the message boards, how should Clay Helton be treated when he shows up? I think that the right
thing to do is just, you know, give him a little polite golf clap. I think what would be hysterical
is it was just dead silence. And I'll see a tumble we'd come out of the tunnel right before
play. But this is one of those games where I don't know if USC is going to improve on their
scoring average in this game. I do think they'll drop tap a C note on Clay and send out
him on his way with a paycheck. Look, Jade Miova, in fact, USC's entire first string offense,
they played the first half of him. That was it. He was 15 for 18, 295 yards to produce 310
and took a whole game to get there. But I'm sorry, Ryan Brown. It's true. It's facts.
USC just needs to continue to build on beating teams are supposed to beat. And then next week,
it'll be the battle of Jaden Maiazza versus Ryan Brown and West Lafayette.
Yeah, hey, Nick Arvin's been adamant.
The Purdue is pulling the upset of USC next week.
You better be prepared.
Goins, you said earlier that Fernando Mendoza was average in his first start,
which is just shocking to me as somebody who all offseason said, he's fine.
You can win games with him, but he's just kind of an average guy.
So I was stunned. Shock and awe in my office when I saw that that all unfold.
I imagine that's where the progress begins for Indiana.
Yeah, I mean, other than like I said earlier, giving up the two big running plays to the quarterback last week on a read option,
which Dexter Williams for Kennesaw State can run it around a little bit.
And just to let people know, the owls almost walked in here with a P4 win.
They almost beat Wake Forest last week, and not that Wake Forest is any good, but a missed PAT and a missed field goal.
kept Kennesaw State out of the wind column.
So not that they're good, but they're not bad.
But yes, the development of Fernando Mendoza,
the timing with the receivers and getting the offensive line
exactly where they need to be,
that's what I expect Indiana to do a ton on Saturday.
You ran the ball in game one, time to throw the ball in game two.
Can anyone tell me Kennesaw State's mascot and name at least one other school
that shares that mascot name?
Owls. Tell me the owls.
Oh, Trent got it first.
Trent was on, Trent was on top of it.
He knew where I was going with that.
we can't pass but we can do trivia
didn't spencer say
owls like two minutes ago also
I actually said it but that's okay
oh you said it oh there is a
oh there is a third out I can name a third owl
does anybody else have it
oh there's a fourth I didn't think
about FAU
who's the fourth
rice
rice in the American
conference are also the
Owls.
Yeah, funny the trivia comes up on this show because
Locked on Ducks people know, I'm a big trivia guy, and
apparently they are as well. So, I love ending with trivia
to end today. That's like the best way ever
to end today's show. I should start making that a weekly
thing, where I give you guys a Big Ten trivia segment.
Ryan Herring, Locked on Badgers, Roman Tomashoff,
locked on Huskies, Trent Condon, locked on not passing
Hawkeyes. I should say, still not passing Hawkeyes.
Jay Stevens, locked on Buckeyes, Mark Colkin,
locked on USC, Jacob Goans, locked on Hoosiers.
I'm Spencer McLaughlin from a lockdown all over the place.
Appreciate everyone listening.
I will see you next time.
Until then, hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day.
I didn't screw it up.
