Starting point is 00:00:00 The SEC and the Big Ten want to create their own college football playoff without the Big 12. Maybe we'll possibly talk about that today on the Big 12 Squad. You're talking ball with the Big 12 Squad. From Oklahoma State to Utah, from Kansas State to BYU, from Houston to Texas Tech, it's the local experts of the Locked On Podcast Network bringing you scoops, breakdowns,
Starting point is 00:00:25 and the most comprehensive preview of the upcoming Big 12 weekend. Buckle up. It's the Big 12 Squad, and we have a seat for you. Know her feelings and thin skin aloud. Squad up. You're part of the Big 12 Squad. Duke is still in the intro. Welcome to the Big 12 Squad.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Drake Toll of Locked On Big 12. Cody Stovall talks all things Oklahoma State. Nick Maravitz talks all things. Minimally, actually. About the Cyclones a lot, though, on Locked On Cyclones. Derek Johnson, all things Kansas. Jay Hawks. Mountaineer Paul is kind of there.
Starting point is 00:01:00 A little OK. The Wi-Fi is better. Mountaineer Paul talks, obviously, West Virginia. Cam Stewart got a haircut. Richie Bradshaw shaved his beard. big reveal time air bud we got air bud baby dog that plays basketball it's jt wistersell in a northern arizona lumberjacks jersey pale as i've ever seen a human being in my life he's wearing wearing drake the red nose big 12 hosts please call me oh sorry for having a tan my bad oops oops he's wearing a headband and headphones that are from like
Starting point is 00:01:35 like you know i watched the snl 50 recently but i watched saturday night before that and all the production people had just headphones are like this like when we sent him into the moon you know all the people back home had those kind of headsets on, and JT's rocking it today. We will talk minimally. Drew Brees' kid. Moon people and Drew Brees' infant son. They made those really popular.
Starting point is 00:01:55 From the Super Bowl, this squad show is brought to you by. The big game. The big game. The big game 44. Speaking of the big game, Super Bowl halftime show. That was brought up briefly, and I don't remember why it was brought up. That was JT. Was that you? It was trying to test. The big game 44. Speaking of the big game, Super Bowl halftime show. That was brought up briefly, and I don't remember why it was brought up. That was JT.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Was that you? Yeah, Coach Carter. We were just making a joke. I can't believe it got brought up on air, but sure. No, well, Samuel L. Jackson. We're discussing how underrated Coach Carter is as a movie, not as a basketball coach. I think he's probably properly rated as a basketball coach. Coach Carter.
Starting point is 00:02:26 What's what's the Disney one about Nolan Richardson was on the team, that random Texas team. He was not on that team. He played there before, but he was not on the 66 team. That is an underrated. That's the, like,
Starting point is 00:02:39 I think that's the second. That one's BS. Jojo white did not step out of bounds. Kansas. Every movie takes some liberties, Derek. Okay. I'm also a Jojo White defender. Listen, man.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Great movie. Good game. I was there. I saw the game. He was clearly in bounds. If we're talking in and out of bounds in basketball fiction, the commercial is like, hey, coach, I touched it. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:03:04 That's my favorite basketball movie is that i touched it it's a championship game attic that's a really really good bet uh ross dellinger tweets within the big 10 and sec momentum builds for an expanded playoff with multiple automatic qualifiers per league now expanded playoff sure go to 16 24 at this point i don't really care but the sec and the big 10 want to make up pretty much all of it. And apparently, last summer, according to Delliger and Yahoo, they were like, you know what? This sucks.
Starting point is 00:03:33 We're just going to do our own thing and have our own playoff unless you meet our demands, which in essence means, because these are the two biggest, if they combine, they've now monopolized college football, they're the biggest entities. If these two conferences decide, either bow to us or we do our own playoff, I don't think there is one singular person powerful enough, certainly not the NCAA, to stop them. You're absolutely right, unfortunately, as much as it sucks.
Starting point is 00:03:57 I don't think there's anything worse than auto bids, like this many auto bids, right? Four for a conference. You're telling me last year's alabama gets to get in just because they have scc i can't stress how much i hate this as someone who loves football what you have to go on and prove it on the field like that's how many we're talking about coach carter right like he would preach like you have to go and earn it on the hardwood instead it's just like oh hey we're just in this conference so we just get to make it this is this would be
Starting point is 00:04:22 the worst thing that's ever happened to college football, in my opinion. Worst thing ever. JT, you got it right out there. This is about as meaningful as Greg Sankey saying that they could get rid of the NCAA, right? It was Greg Sankey at one point in time saying that the NCAA didn't need to be a governing body and that college football could easily, or for all college sports, go out and get a third-party governing body. And it's not
Starting point is 00:04:45 happened yet i think this is posturing more than anything the downside of it is the posturing is going to benefit espn and fox because they're propping this this big 10 and sec thing up as well so i don't know the the thing we need to pay attention to is to avoid any of these conversations somebody from the acc or the big 12 has to kick the door in at the cool kid party for a national title. That's the only way this changes. If it doesn't change, then the SEC and Big 10 keep winning it. I don't see how it doesn't go this way.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Do you think that would change it, though, or do you think that would just piss them off even more and they'd just be like, we don't, you know. Right, yeah. Yeah, they'll say, oh, Big 12, they got a three-month warm-up. You know, they got a three-month free season. like they yeah they'll say oh big 12 they got a they got a three month warm-up you know they got a three month freeze exactly that's what they'll say it will never it will never change the goalposts thank you tcu what happened after tcu got blown out no one totally forgot about the michigan game that's for sure yeah exactly it never gets
Starting point is 00:05:41 just like next year we already know that they're going to be trying to make a case for an eight, a team like SMU, and they're going to bring up, well, what happened to SMU in the playoff? And it's like, what happened to Tennessee in the show. That's right. That's the question. Was he silent or silenced? And he was silent. Simcox has been very silent. We're working to confirm that. We're looking to confirm that. Maravets, though, silenced. They don't want him talking.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Mountaineer Paul currently silenced and possibly frozen as well. The man does not want to hear mountaineer paul take take this thing over if you look really closely in the photo above nick's shoulder you can see the illuminati logo in there i'm not gonna tell you where it's on this kansas i think this is kansas losing actually right here you had a lot to choose from did somebody say something about dew breeze that's why wait till the end of the second segment when mountaineer paul hears what i said about him
Starting point is 00:06:57 when that comes across he did not say anything disparaging about Mountain Dew, Paul. Paul is the star of this show, man. He always is. Paul, if you could get unlimited Mountain Dew for the rest of your life or back-to-back West Virginia National Football Championships, what would you choose? I'll answer that in a few minutes.
Starting point is 00:07:18 He'll get there. Don't be selfish. Oh, he's thinking about it. I want to lean into the bit, right? Who wouldn't want to lean into the bit right now? What would Pat McAfee say? What would Pat McAfee say? Well, he'd probably rip my sleeves off, make Parker mad,
Starting point is 00:07:37 probably get emails from Parker over it. You know what? We could probably get sponsored by Mountain Dew. So that would work for me as long as it's sponsored by Dew Paul's basically saying both I want both yeah at the end of the day I'm going to figure out a way to manipulate that
Starting point is 00:07:53 Paul officially just announced himself as a candidate for politician just now that's exactly how we do it in West Virginia it's all about dew intake by the way Mark Rainsworth wins the state championship over the weekend, teaching and coaching, and just is too big for the Big 12 squad.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Do you want to see him? You know how we could get him on the show, though. Oh, no. You got an in? I'm not sure if we could actually get Parker on the show. New guy Nick and his Iowa State Cyclones made it to a bowl game. I have to say, good job, Nick. Every time.
Starting point is 00:08:29 Every time. You made it to a bowl game. Not like you went to the Big 12 title. Yeah, it's all about the Pop-Tarts. Do we think Parker's a better teacher or coach? Hmm. Hmm. I haven't heard this from him on this show.
Starting point is 00:08:45 I'll say coach. I'll say coach. I'll say coach. Was it Quiz Bowl? What did they win? Technically, coaching is just teaching. Science Bowl. What does he teach? Or coaching.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Is it five-hour energy? Or coaching. Great question. I think it's basketball, right? I don't know. You're the basketball guy. You're JT. I guess, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:03 No. The question is, who's the best basketball basketball coach JT to a starting position. Hey, hey, I will say really, really quick. I want to say I never got to say this because, y'all, I did that sprained ankle video. Y'all took a shot at me. I don't know how college athletes do it because we criticize them each week. All y'all were talking about my basketball ability and I was ready to come through the screen. I I need you to know that know that was the first most embarrassing story I've heard on this show about an injury,
Starting point is 00:09:29 and then Spencer McLaughlin somehow just... And then I got that out of Spencer and paid y'all back. Spencer was just in the absolute... I mean, he found a way to make it really serious and top you by and large. Coming up, are we closing the gap at all against the SEC and the Big Ten to the point where the Big 12 can have a seat at this table?
Starting point is 00:09:45 This is a very typical Big 12 squad. Today's show is brought to you by Roy. Attention, Big 12 fans. The future of college sports is here, and it's transparent. Before the Roy app, NIL negotiations often happened under the table. Fans didn't have a clear way to directly support the athlete they love. Now, with Roy, you're going to be a part of the change and support all Big 12 athletes in the most transparent way possible.
Starting point is 00:10:11 Roy, the NIL app, allows you to choose the player you want to support, decide how much to contribute, receive exclusive content from the athletes, and if the player transfers, you get your money back. This is risk-free. The Roy app is giving fans control. No more uncertainty. Now you can provide transparent, impactful support and help shape the team and future of college sports.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Download the Roy app today from the app store and start backing Big 12 athletes. They deserve money, transparency, trust, a real impact with Roy. This is the future of college sports. Join now by downloading Roy and supporting your favorite players with Roy. A, this was a quote from JT Westersell, but the sec and big 10 making their own playoff is the worst thing to ever happen to college football. I just jotting them down. D U I Mike Gundy, Mike Leach, putting that guy in the closet that one time, that was a bad one. That was a bad one. Talking about the game it's cam
Starting point is 00:11:05 newton money bag uh did something happen at penn state oh happy valley oh my god brian kelly had the one uh you can't do the brian kelly deal either that happened there uh that was all those players should be executed i was totally for that no for that. No, Kelly did the executed thing, but then something very close to that, to an actual human being happened. Where did Cam go? I don't know. Cody Stovall also left.
Starting point is 00:11:33 I think they were appalled. Are we done talking about major scandals? You went after Oklahoma State. Oh, no. Oh, we could go for Baylor. Have we moved past the major scandal talk? We missed the low. Hey, Kim Mulkey told me I can slap anybody who is uncomfortable by that scandal.
Starting point is 00:11:48 She did say that. I cheered for that. On a microphone. I don't know what part of history I'm on, but I did cheer when that happened. You were in the building. Are we somehow here closing the gap between the SEC, the Big Ten, the Big 12? After the way we saw the SEC perform in bowl season and the Big 12 did very well.
Starting point is 00:12:06 And not only that, we're getting a lot of their players in the transfer portal. You don't see too many Big 12 guys that are moving up. A lot of them are staying put, and we're getting four and five-star guys who didn't pan out their two years to Alabama because that program's tumultuous. We now get to reap the benefit of having that athlete.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Or in case of a Cam Scadaboo, we get the best of the best in D2 or the lower level of D1 because they want to compete in a major conference and don't have a spot in the SEC. I think the Big 12 is catching up from an on-the-field standpoint to where we can actually have a seat at the table
Starting point is 00:12:37 in these conversations. I've been on that train. Yes, that is a big part of closing the gap here. Obviously, we take the best two players from the SWAC and make them great Big 12 athletes um but you look at like these teams that have been succeeding um I'll use Ritchie's Arizona State as an example the Big 12 champs the college football playoff running back takes a step up in the portal quarterback according to the national media takes a step down going from the big 10 to the big 12
Starting point is 00:13:05 although we know how those two schools fare on the football field and this this is where it becomes like it was it's always going to be a great imbalance man and it's always going to be tilted towards the sec just ask shane beamer and he'll go off for five or six minutes in a row about how great the players are in the sec and there there's just not enough spots to go around. That's where I'm like, I've said it about Baylor several times, that's where your program should be living. If everyone's going to say you're this third-rate conference anyway and you can find time for these four and five stars to get on the field
Starting point is 00:13:41 and Alabama and Georgia can't, then let's go. Let's do this thing. I think Cam makes a lot of great points, but I don't think it is. I think it's the same as, I don't think, I don't, I think it's the same as, I think it's the same as it's been. I think that these teams in an expanded playoff, we've always had years where there was a couple of years ago, Utah, if they got, I mean, they played Ohio state close, right? There's these teams are, have been for a while capable of competing with the top dogs. But I think because of the drastic difference in resources,
Starting point is 00:14:09 in the drastic difference in now we're going to get these auto bids and things of that sort, I think the gap is increasing. That does not mean that a team like an ASU can't go in and upset one of the top dogs. You would say that. You would. Well, I will say, if you start to get auto bids for other conferences, then yes, the gap will not be closed. If we're, if we're playing that game, JT, then yes,
Starting point is 00:14:28 physically we cannot close the gap. Yes. I'm just saying this. I think it's been like what ASU did. I think big 12 teams and ACC teams. We saw that with Clemson. I think those teams have been capable of beating the top brands for years, but I don't think like this past year, just because of some of the changes,
Starting point is 00:14:44 I still think those changes overall benefit the sec and the big 10 more and that's why i'm worried about the gap increasing i disagree i think the big 12 has been below the other like the sec we're starting to see the level of the playing field right across everywhere means big 12 is going to come up my question now is if the big 12 and the acc are at that level is this why the big 10 and the sec are starting to push for hey we are better we are this because it's going to take time for that transfer portal to take effect where we're actually at that level and the sec and the big 10 are like hey while we're at the top now we are best we are we got to separate ourselves now before the big 12 catches up and i think crucially like we are still in early days of of the portal
Starting point is 00:15:26 in general what's it been three four years now that's what i mean we're still correct we're still early in that we're still trying to see if the the deon sanders replace your whole team thing really works out right um like that could that could be in three years where it's like shoot man you know alabama's and georgia's and texas's of the world are like we can't keep letting these four or five stars leave after their freshman year. We can't do that. They're going and finding success, not only in the Big 12, but someone like the Big 10 as well.
Starting point is 00:15:52 But we are still early kind of in that process and seeing if that works, if the Big 12 and the ACC can feast off the trimming of the fat. I mean, this is a little bit of a quarterback question, though, because when you look at the SEC, I think this was kind of a down year from the quarterback position for them. Should be next year again. Yeah. Yeah. So if it keeps going that way, then maybe this does become a conversation, right? Maybe you get back to a point where the big 12 had, right. When it was the years of Graham Harrell and Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy. Right. And if you can have that quarterback level of
Starting point is 00:16:22 play, that can be the game changer and the SEC is down, then yes, I'm open to that. But what happens if this is just a little cycle for the SEC? And then they do get back to getting, you know, your two of the world, your quarterbacks that are winning Heismans, in addition to having, you know, all these four or five stars on the offensive and defensive line. We did win the Heisman this year, you know, we, and we'll have the best quarterbacks in the country.
Starting point is 00:16:43 We have one of the best quarterbacks. Boyer Robertson. Yes. You do the best quarterbacks in the country. We have one of the best quarterbacks. Sawyer Robertson, yes. You do have great quarterbacks, but how many people outside of the Big 12 know who Rocco Becht is? Not many. There's a lot of really good quarterbacks in the Big 12, but the national perspective does not respect the Rocco Becht. Which is dumb because wasn't there that Rocco Becht report
Starting point is 00:17:04 that he turned down even though he never entered the transfer portal like others from the SEC, right? Right. He's played three quarterbacks better than Carson Beck, but yet everyone knows that ugly. Yeah. Is he the top eight quarterback in the Big 12? Is he even in the top half of quarterbacks for us?
Starting point is 00:17:21 Guys, the Allen Bowman would start in the SEC, all right? Calm down. Hey, our cast-offs start in the SEC until they tear their ACLs. Derek, to that quarterback point. That's worth noting. Real quick, to that quarterback point, Derek, obviously the SEC is going to have more recruiting power. They always will, just literally because of the patch.
Starting point is 00:17:41 But look at like a Joe Burrow, right? Starts at Ohio State, ends up in the sec. That transfer is when yours. Yeah. I just off the top of the dome, you know, guys, two, three string disrespected. Like if Rocco Beck went to the sec, what would happen? Obviously he's a starter in the big 12, but you get my point here coming into last season. If we did not take last season out, go before. If we did a ranking for the country and it was who will be better,
Starting point is 00:18:05 Jackson Arnold or Rocco Beck, I feel like everyone would have said Jackson Arnold's better. Just the name. The name alone. I bet they still would. You know what, guys? I bet they still would. JT and Nick kind of slid me into this one.
Starting point is 00:18:15 I think part of this is going to have to come down to perception. Are we catching them on the field? We're likely because of the transfer portal and what Arizona State just did against Texas. But on paper, right, Jake, Drake, you did an episode about how the rankings get skewed when you transfer out of the SEC or out of the Big 12. If you leave the Big 12, you inherently get better. If you come into the Big 12, you're inherently viewed as more negatively.
Starting point is 00:18:40 And those dollar bills and that perception on paper is what ESPN and Fox care about. They're going to keep pushing this thing until somebody knocks the door down. And those dollar bills and that perception on paper is what ESPN and Fox care about. They're going to keep pushing this thing until somebody knocks the door down. That's why a lot of us were anticipating Arizona State in that comeback, because we need something like that to have some credence to this conversation, because the manipulation of the grading, that's not going to change until the Big 12 changes it. Coming up, there was an SEC head. Yes. Mountaineer. Yes, he's not going to change until the Big 12 changes it. Coming up, there was an SEC head... Yes! Yes, he's talking basketball
Starting point is 00:19:09 movies! I think you can look at basketball as a good example. Look how much of the gap the SEC has closed with the Big 12, formerly the better conference, right? I think similarly, we can do the same kind of thing because the playing field is a little bit better due to nil and rev share because if you can be
Starting point is 00:19:30 full rev share and still compete in the nil game like a la texas tech right now they're going to have nil money and full rev share likely teams like that that are able to do that at that level we're going to have a great shot real quick point on that is like west virginia paid a guy not to go to old miss literally paid him not to go on a visit to old miss you know what i mean this year that was one of the best cornerbacks in the portal they got the conference the the american conference defensive player of the year by paying him not to go somewhere so you know it's it's possible you just have to empty your. I want to mention, I'm not sure if you caught this. He said Allah, which is French.
Starting point is 00:20:08 Like, Mountaineer Paul just dropped some French on your asses on this show. Three-letter words. Do. You know what I mean? Three-letter words. And there it is. That's a parade. A great addition to the topic.
Starting point is 00:20:19 It's got to be simple. Coming up, the SEC, their coaches are even complaining about this, and their commissioner as well, that they're being overlooked or seen as the underdog and that's very stupid this is the big 12 squad um greg sankey has mentioned he now likes the role of being the underdog oh two championships we haven't won or been in and we were the underdogs and we embrace that and then shane beamer comes out and says man you know it just means more here we have more draft picks than anybody else and national championships than anybody else. And nobody I've coached in a bunch of leagues. No one does like the SEC.
Starting point is 00:20:50 The same guy that lost to Illinois, the middle of the pack, the head coach, bottom of the pack in the Big Ten. And I just don't understand how their national narrative with ESPN can be. It just means more with the best conference in America. And then it's like they pull this bait and switch deal where now they're the victim. Now America hates them. That's like the crap out of us. At the same time, at the same time,
Starting point is 00:21:13 they're trying to negotiate guaranteed spots in the college football world. Exactly. Oh, yeah. Where was that for the Mountain West then? There are some underdogs. Like, what are we talking about? It's ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Greg Sankey's i don't want to hear i he's literally trying to ruin the sport it goes back to what i was talking about earlier i don't want everything every time they talk they're just talking about trying to separate trying to prop themselves up that it's just like i said it's constant narrative moving it's like politics it really is and it's really it's really unfortunate what's happening they need to have a royal rumble with all of the commissioners and brett yormark would come out the winner do we think he would he does have wrestling experience yes i feel like if we did it from a wrestling background head coaches mike gundy but specifically with three or four beers we let him in a pair of keys who hasn't
Starting point is 00:22:01 who hasn't i don't think he's ever said anything that I've not agreed with. I genuinely think he's never said anything that I haven't agreed with. Everyone's names are on their name tag. His is just Locked On West Virginia. He does it for the brand. He does it for the brand. Locked On West
Starting point is 00:22:19 Virginia. Do God. What do you do? You do a do in segment two. What do you do in segment two what do you do in segment three that's dr p i usually i usually have one of each person you do you drink the mountain dew before you get to segment three the whole thing i crack it that's the whole that's the whole thing crack it do in segment two let's crack it it's segment three let's crack a dr p so do you just like crack a p segment you know that movie signs where he just has like the waters everywhere and it ends up saving them from the aliens sorry for the spoiler alert do you just
Starting point is 00:22:54 have like that with mountain dew you just have a bunch of cracked mountain dews that haven't been drank around drank around your house there are a lot of cracked mountain dews around my house that don't get drunk yes and you know it's like my dad used to hate me for it uh but now that i buy them nobody can yell at me my dad hated me my dad can i tell a funny story about my dad one time it's gonna be better than my dad my dad had a country accent that really big country accent from west virginia and so i pawned his sawzall one time when i was young and stupid and so what is that a sawzall it's uh it's speaking french again it's a tool that you that has a blade that vibrates you can cut you can cut wood with so anyway anyway, my dad, being the hick that he is,
Starting point is 00:23:46 and my friends were upstairs, we were playing video games. He said, Pow! Where the is my salto? And just the way he said that, the accent. Your dad sounds like Harbin. Yeah, he didn't say
Starting point is 00:23:59 Paul. He said, Pow! Hey, Pow! I love this show. Come here, Pow. Hey, pal. I love this show. Come here, pal. He called me Root my entire life. And I didn't ask until I was 18 years old. And I said, dad, why do you call me Root all the time? He'll say, come here, Root.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Get over here, Root. And I said, why do you call me that? He said, because you're dumber than a tree, Root, son. Oh, my gosh. Dude, your dad is big. I want to hang out with your dad. Your dad sounds like a legend, bro. He had no idea how right he would be when he said it would be better than Spencer's story.
Starting point is 00:24:33 It was even better than I imagined. My dad had a prosthetic. He passed. But he had a prosthetic arm. He got electrocuted 7,600 times. Yeah. He was dumb as hell, man. at 7,600 votes. Yeah. I want a whole Big 12 squad
Starting point is 00:24:47 just of stories of Mountaineer Paul's dad. I want Drake to get his Hollywood connects in on this. What incarnation? A sitcom about Mountaineer Paul and his dad. What is happening? It's a portrait
Starting point is 00:25:04 of Mountaineer Paul's child. Is it a political ad? We're just buying the paper. That's an embodiment. Bang Newton ad. Bang Newton. That's what that's like. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:20 Paul, where'd you put my salvo? Did you just have that on standby, or did you look it up? I immediately pulled that up. He was pouring his heart out to us. Little man, get in here. And you just went and grabbed it. We didn't need picnic to where I'm from, because that's got fruit in it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:38 What's that up? You got a little tobacco. Yes, in here. Hey, Spencer. Hey. Spencer McLaughlin joining the show. This one, we are bears. Where's Fringe University at?
Starting point is 00:25:51 This one for some reason. And then this one because they're coming to. Oh, don't you do that, Drake. Don't you. You son of a biscuit-eating champion. How dare you? They're coming to Baylor. I'm a big ragweed fan. I'm wondering if they'll say the thing when're coming to Baylor. I'm a big Ragweed fan.
Starting point is 00:26:05 I'm wondering if they'll say the thing when they're at Baylor. I don't think you can say the thing. I don't. At Baylor. They're really good for you. The reason the Big 12 show is the best, there's a quote that Dickie V had one time where he was, or it used to be Jimmy V, where he said,
Starting point is 00:26:20 if you laugh, you cry, and you have deep thoughts, that's a heck of a day. I do all of that just in one sitting with all of you. I don't know if we do the deep thoughts. The best show in the world is cool because we know you're going to show up looking like Dorkosaurus Rex every week. What? Yet?
Starting point is 00:26:35 Well, you know. Keep it PG. It's a family show. I'm waiting for everybody in the higher ups to go, Big 12 Squad is so great. We're going to make it unrated and we're going to double it to an hour long show. Oh,
Starting point is 00:26:50 and the extra half hour is just Paul. Can we do Paul and Cody? I'll tell one more quick story about my dad. My, my, you know, my mom and dad sang in the choir at our church. And so my dad was famous for his arm, a prosthetic, would die in the funniest places. They went into a random speedway. And they were, T.D. Jakes is a real big pastor. They went to go sing for him.
Starting point is 00:27:23 And they were in a big hurry to get there. Well, they go into a speedway. And my dad going to get a coffee or something out of the refrigerator, his prosthetic arm literally died on the door. And what did he do? He just pulled it off and left it there. They get there. He left it there.
Starting point is 00:27:45 They get there. He left it there. They get there. He puts on his hook now. And they're fishing off the pier because I know this is like because they're on a vacation. So they're fishing off the pier. He actually hooks into a hammerhead shark. This is a true story. And it was like a small one, like three feet long. He reels this thing in and it was like a small one like three feet long he reels this thing in
Starting point is 00:28:05 and it swallowed the hook so he has to go into its belly and pull the hook out well he's got a hook on he can do that well of course everybody around him doesn't know that's the line it's a flesh color he won't do it it's a flesh colored hook So he goes in with that, notices people are watching, and with great comedic timing, lets that thing just stay in there and goes, wah! And, I mean, just this old lady was like, oh! So that was, like, all in a 24-hour span of two different arms because he'd always pop them off everywhere he went. Wow.
Starting point is 00:28:43 At no point could i ever predict the next thing that was going to come out we started choir pastor bang arms off you call it i would give anything for like a fried green tomatoes but just paul's dad's life just hopping all the way around man kathy bates bring back kathy ohates i'm just thinking about like paul walks into the uh the kitchen to go get a drink and his dad's prosthetic arm is just sitting there on the door doesn't phase him doesn't he's just like oh dad every day it smelled so bad you know because it's all he's on. He had to put a sock on over it so it wouldn't rub his arm raw. And where it was so scarred up, it had a face, and he named it Snuffly, and he was always talking to you with it.
Starting point is 00:29:35 He named it? Snuffly, yeah. I feel like there's a great story how he lost his arm, too. This has been an unbelievable story. That's going to be aed story next week, man. Unbelievable. Depending on the day, really. Back by popular demand. Mountain near Paul next week.
Starting point is 00:29:50 We will do it. Unabridged, hour-long dad stories. This has been an always well-readed Locked On. Thanks for making it your first listen every single day. Dos e Grandes, squad.
