he is talking about the youths.
Plenty to get to this week in Big 12.
If you hit subscribe, we all get to keep our jobs.
First order of business, sports podcast here.
Don't want to get too heavy, too deep.
Thoughts and prayers with Jake, the entire community,
with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
after the tragedy on Sunday.
The Pasco President Nelson,
it's been a huge topic this week.
A fine for Colorado, for anti-religious speech
against BYU from the buffs.
Heavy week, and so our thoughts go out to your entire community
and hope you're doing well.
holding up that's the good news but yeah thank you for all that it's been a crazy crazy heavy week as you guys might i'll imagine but i'm not going to lie a little bit floored to the big 12 it levied a fine i expected the reprimand but the actual monetary damages like them hitting them in the pocketbook that's a new thing and i think it's i think it may change the dynamic when it comes to some of these chance we've heard issued against bi yu in the future yeah definitely i think you you immediately see the big 12 is going to take a lot more seriously so good at the conference steps up and says look we are
looking out for BYU.
It's what the Cougars joined a conference for
is to have this level of infrastructure at the very top.
Past that, J.T. Westerill, 30 seconds.
Why are you telling you it's the best program
in the Big 12 again?
You're so funny, man.
Look, I think we were all really overreacted
to what happened against our good friend, Chris Lovell's,
Texas Tech, Red Raiders.
I think Texas Tech is the best.
Overreacting of 3410?
Overreact as in completely acted like they suck,
like some people were doing last week,
aka Parker Ainsworth being one of them,
whose team went on the road,
and barely squeaked out a win against a team that the team he plays this week.
Absolutely steamrolled.
So we'll see how good they are this week.
But Utah, look, they're talents in the trenches.
They still got some things to prove if they are one of the upper echelon teams in this conference.
But I do feel like they were snub from the AP top 25.
And I feel like they're top 14 in the big 12.
There is more hair on the top of JT's head than there have been wins from Utah against Houston in the entire history of the program.
Yes, we had a down year.
Can I just say we had a down year last year and we still had a better year than Houston did.
Pick a year.
Last year, we literally won more games than you.
We won more games on you last year.
You didn't beat us.
Yes, you beat on the road, backup quarterback.
You never beat.
You've never been used.
Four games.
It's weird.
I was told by Utah fans that freshman quarterbacks are terrible.
I was told that the freshman quarterbacks are never good.
But there's a school 40 miles away.
It seems to be winning with a centaur.
They find good.
What's good.
Wow, wow, wow, wow.
That's good.
That's good.
Yeah, Big 12 freshman of the week.
Like, it's, like, it, it.
Hey, Will,
Will Hammond is a redshirt freshman.
Yeah.
Will Hammond's amazing at football.
Is he in year two at Texas Tech?
Yeah.
He's in year two of college football.
Is that, so now what do you do?
Do you play Will Hammond?
No.
I mean, not yet.
I mean, I think he will play.
I think he will play some, but I think they were already doing that, like red zone stuff.
I envision them using him like they used Arch Manning last year in Austin,
kind of red zone used legs.
Yeah, that worked well. It did last year for, you know, when you have Quinn Ewers and all that stuff.
So I don't know how this is going to play out. But, I mean, he will play some anyway, but it just shows you, I think you got more than one guy that can go get it done.
Yeah, Jake, where were you headed there?
Well, so J.T. will give credit to Will Hammond, but not to Bear Bachmire.
No, bear at a good moment, but I don't, okay, first of all, you don't know.
Hammond's a good game, we'll say that, just like bears had good a game.
But we're talking about good quarterbacks, like how many quarterbacks in the country are good?
I see Bear do it against a team that I think is going to be a decent college football team.
I'm sorry, Borba.
I don't think Colorado is going to be great this year.
J.T.
Here's the deal.
BYU has got a great pantheon of great quarterbacks.
Jim McMahon, Steve Young, Tidetmer, some of the greats of all time.
Bear Bachmeier is the first quarterback in BYU football history to start his career 4 and O
and have 10 plus touchdowns and zero turnovers.
None of those other quarterbacks have done this.
Have they played a good team?
I think ECU is pretty darn good, dude.
Oh, okay.
Wow, that didn't pick that, Borba?
God bless.
Damn.
Yeah, I mean,
Paul Lado should have won that game.
I mean, the metrics say it, the everything says it, right.
But the defense can't tackle, which is a problem.
Their quarterback, he looks like he's, like, constantly deciding, like, what he's going to do.
Like, does he want to throw the ball or does he not?
And it feels like he's always ready to run before he even looks around.
And, yeah, I think they let BYU back into that game.
And it's an unpopular take, but they really did.
Warby, to your point, I will.
say on paper Colorado is the most talented team you i was played and you're right the the
stats why did they go away from the running game i was there watching that game in person and i
i'm the floored that colorado went away from the run game b yu was struggling mightily to contain
anything color color yeah hey jake is your shirt is your shirt color aqua
uh kind of blueish i don't know yeah i like on miller jake to your credit your point had eight carries
three of them came on one drive
where he ran for a touchdown
and then they only gave him
five more carries the rest of the game
it made no sense
Colorado clearly has a problem
they have a leadership problem
they have a play calling problem
they have a quarterback problem
and they have a tackling problem
so a lot of problems to go around
well it's it's good that
Dion Sanders just except for the Arkansas job
that he is
headed to Fayetteville
don't you take my gungee job from him
that would be my truth
with you
Bobby Petrino is sitting right there
with his neck brace ready to go.
I mean, Borba, what are your topics?
If Dion leaves, how beautiful the mountains are?
Another cold day in Boulder?
Like, what?
Lots of tweeds and lots of drinks.
We'll just do our top 100 favorite Dion Sanders moments every day.
Yeah.
Should they leave Shador Sanders number retired?
Hmm.
There you.
That'd be something.
That would be a conversation.
Cody, where do we sit?
Is Rhett Lashley or Colin Klein?
That's the new one.
Matt Wells, hopefully.
I mean, it's always going to revert back to Zach Robinson,
but we are hearing that G.J. Kinney is somebody that we are seriously pushing for.
Another name that it's seemingly pretty popular right now,
which I think I 100% agree with is Alex Golesh.
It's going to be interesting to see what other jobs pop open, right?
I think if Baylor pops open, G.J. could become problematic.
If Florida pops open, that could be an instance where Alex Golesh is more predisposition
to end up there.
But Gulles does have connections to Oklahoma State.
He did work as a GA Instawater for a couple seasons.
He's clearly a program builder, G.J. Kinney, regionally, he's already made statements about
wanting to stay in his area of expertise.
And Oklahoma State does accomplish that.
But if anything doesn't work out, it's always going to revert back to Zach Robinson,
and I'm fine with that.
You said if Florida opens up, I feel like it's when Florida opens up at this point.
Oh, yeah.
don't get many dsd either where you hire someone then they leave but
cody question you said you guys were going to get someone like huge name like what
are are those like huge names outside of j kentney i mean i in the college football world i
would say so zach robinson would definitely classify as a huge name especially i just remember
you saying it was going to like blow our socks off hey am i the only one that
john gruden still in the mix out there and still water oh no john somebody said no to somebody and
I would imagine Gruden told us no.
Probably, yes.
Does it, can he have, though, a pretty big buyout?
No, it's like 3.4 mil.
Okay, I thought that was hard.
Which is big for the current situation.
Texas State, that's pretty penny right there.
Cody, I'm telling you right now, if they get G.J. Kinney, you're going to see it,
it's going to be a trade.
Mike Gundy goes to Texas State, G.
J.J. Kinney ends up in store.
Oh, you really think he would?
You really think he would.
Guys, Mike Gundy definitely wants a coach again, and his brother, Kale Gundy said,
wherever Mike goes, I'm going with him.
Mike Gundy and San Marcos needs to be on television.
I think Mike Gundy's pride will not allow him to go down.
But I mentioned Arkansas somewhat jokingly.
But you know, if you're Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State plays Arkansas in a couple seasons,
that's got to be somewhat of an appealing option.
So he's probably sales pitching himself to Arkansas.
He'd be smart to do so.
I want him to go to TV, man.
He belongs on the desk.
I mean,
Gunning on the Big 12 squad.
When he pulls that out,
whatever network he's on is going to be like,
maybe not.
No,
I think he'd be great,
man.
Him and Fox are going to get along just fine.
What was the T-shirt he wore?
Like,
I think that network.
Gotta love Fox.
Patch is bouncing.
I've got a question between G.J.
Kinney and Jeff Trailer.
Why are we not talking about Jeff Trailer?
That's coming up.
Locked on Big 12 Dos A Grande squad.
Today's show is brought to you by Fandall.
Fandall is exactly where I go this weekend to pick the money line of whoever is playing against Utah and probably win many, many, many monies.
And we'll go into my pocket and I'll be so excited and happy.
Fandall is actually where you can go and win a whole lot of college football and have a whole lot in free play in your back pocket.
For just $5, you throw $5 down if your bet hits.
If your $5 bet hits from there, that's exactly right.
you get $300 in bonus bets to use across the app however you want to.
So here's what you do.
You download the Fandul app.
You throw $5 on whatever game you want to, including Utah versus B.YE.
And when the biweek wins, you win to all of that and more at Fandul.com.
It's at fanduel.com and do it today, fanduel.com.
Today's show is also brought to you by Square.
I go down to Island Dacquiry here in Wilmington, Ireland, Georgia, and I enjoy a Daccarry.
And it's run on Square, your entire neighborhood actually.
is run on Square.
We know that there's just those places that are pillars for you in your neighborhood.
With this episode being brought you by Square,
I bring up Island Daccarry.
That's right down the road.
And when I go there,
I boop and do the little phone thing to your face and you click on the Square thing
and it pays for the whole shebang.
And so Square is what keeps your neighborhood feeling like home.
Right now, go to square.com forward slash go forward slash locked on college to learn more.
But before you do, go support your favorite neighborhood spot.
You'll be happy you did Square.
See you in the neighborhood with Square.
Utah you think Utah
JT you think Utah can win the by week
I'd say so
they actually comes at a good time they need to get some guys healthy
and prove on some things so I feel like yes
I am fascinated the next time that they play
because I know we're sitting here talking about various teams
but and we're representative lists
with it comes to the Sun Devils on this lovely show
Arizona State man is their league right now
is it not they're 2 and 0
I know next guys have something to say about
it, but like that Utah and Arizona State game, that's a big one. That is a big one.
Chris, it's their league in the sense that they won it last, but do you feel like they've been
the most impressive team? Because I have been more impressed by Tech and Iowa State.
I would say, okay, and that's a fair, that's an eye test conversation. But here's what I would
say. Arizona State has the longest such streak in the country, and they've won eight conference
games in a row, okay, dating back to last year. Nobody in the country has any longer streak.
and I just until, I mean, it can look ugly all we want it to,
but they've got a pro at quarterback, they've got a pro at receiver,
they figure out ways to win close games.
I mean, I don't know, man.
I mean, that's pretty salty because they did not play their best
the other night against TCU and still figured out a way to get it done.
And I think you can make the argument they're tied in could be a pro-level dude as well.
Absolutely.
I think TCU is strong and I think that was an impressive performance for sure.
Yeah.
I do think that Arizona State won a lot of one score games last year.
and they lost their best player.
It stands the reason that just on percentages,
they're going to lose a couple of one-score games this year without him.
And I understand that I personally don't think anyone in the conference going to defeat it.
I don't think the Big 12 championship goes undefeated this year.
But I also feel like that two-lost team could be a three-lost team
without a whole lot of change, let alone losing their best player.
That doesn't feel like that big a stretch.
You mentioned the close game thing.
In the Big 12, I think that that's something that we just need to become welcoming of,
because it's going to happen repeatedly.
I don't think we're going to see a lot of blowouts all that often in this conference.
Even from a lowly Oklahoma State, you're probably going to beat us,
but you're probably not going to blow the absolute doors off of us more often than not.
And it's just because the strength of this conference to some degree.
I love Mountaineer Paul, man, but really quick,
I just don't know if West Virginia is going to stay in a lot of games this year.
I just, I don't know.
I don't know.
And it's funny, you're talking about Arizona State and one-score games.
I don't know if they'll win a bunch more.
They've won two of them in a row in the league.
So they keep it going.
Everybody promised me that this year, the teams that won those one score games would flip.
You know, JT, you've used that about BYU.
I have somebody one score games last year.
What does BYU do against Colorado?
Yes, I want them to play a good team.
And then I will concede I was wrong about that.
I'm just going to say that.
Colorado is the team that flipped, Drake.
They lose to BYU.
Colorado is the team that flipped this year.
So I want to get back at some point to the G.J. Kinney and Jeff Trailer thing.
because we've just forgotten Jeff Trailer into the void here.
Parker, though, is this the week that Houston, the eyes of Texas will be upon you,
that they knock off Texas Tech and become a legitimate power?
Look, let's be honest.
If Houston beats Tech, I think there'll be a lot more eyes on the game than,
on Houston than just the eyes of Texas.
But I will say, and I've sat on the show before and you'll laugh to me,
and then we beat TCU and Kansas State last year.
I don't know you tell us that they're whatever last year, but they did, right?
Houston and Willie Fritz are going to win games.
They're not supposed to every year.
That's just what Willie Fritz does.
It's what it's done everywhere.
It's been.
Chris and I just spoke recently about, like, they're coming off of a bye week.
They've been told their stuff doesn't stink for a little bit.
They're in Lubbock, right?
Like, it's in Houston night game, like all that kind of stuff.
It just feels like it could.
They might just have 24,000 people there, huh?
Well, there are a lot of Lubbock alumni, I guess.
There might be 24,000 tech fans there.
I'm not even joking about that.
There's a large tech of alumni in the Houston area.
And it might not be this weekend,
but there will be wins Houston gets this year
just because Fritz doesn't let them lose that.
There's going to be some game.
They're not supposed to win.
They're going to beat the spread or whatever.
And come back and win that game.
I would like it to beat this weekend.
I'd like it to beat tech, obviously.
There's a little bit more feel good in that one.
But I don't think it's that crazy.
Everyone's acting like it's outlandish to think it'll happen.
And then they derailed Kansas States
entire existence last year.
I have a real question.
It's going to sound like I'm being facetious.
I promise I'm not.
But legitimately, is Houston more of a threat on the road than they are to some degree
at home just because of the environment?
The Dave Miranda Baylor syndrome.
That's a great point, actually.
I don't know if I go that far.
I do think Houston, though, and again, I think it's this interesting spot where everything,
maybe not JT, but as I'm looking at everyone else, your alumni have people in an alumni
center in Houston.
It's too big a city not to have it, especially the Baylars, the Tex, the TCUs, the Texas-based schools.
It's just such a big city that this is the only game those fans get to go watch of their team in their backyard, right?
It's a unique situation that, like, look, let's be honest, doesn't exist in Stillwater, doesn't exist in Ames.
It's just, you don't have a bunch of Colorado alumni living in Ames, Iowa.
That's just not a thing.
Borba, are you good, man?
I'm just listening.
I was wondering, is this how you do all your podcasts?
Just chilling.
I love it.
I mean, I need to pick that up.
I just set up and dialed in, just thinking about like, man, I wish we could unretire
those jerseys and get those guys.
Don't lie.
What are these who are going to shut up half the time, especially when I'm talking about that TCU win?
23.
TCU win?
I talked about it today with one of the former players.
I was like, what a time.
What a time that was.
Remember when we all thought Belichick and them were going to do the safe thing,
and they were going to knock off PCU?
Oh, my gosh.
I don't think any of us thought that, but you know, with a national conversation.
No, I walked into that.
That was well played.
You would.
I agree with that.
That was well played by you there.
But I have been laughing all week, Drake, as you flip-flop on Devin Damp here week after week,
before the season, you said he sucked.
Then last week on my show or two weeks ago, you said he was good.
Then you do a graphic in which you call him ass the following week.
Where do you land on him?
I don't know, man.
Some weeks he's good.
Some weeks he's not.
Drake knows that he would be behind Hossaney.
It's okay, J.P.
He'll out a little bit.
We all see it.
Listen, there's a great moment, Cameron Stewart brought it up where, oh, I don't even know.
Oh, was it, who was the color, who was the color guy for the Oklahoma State Baylor game?
Old, like, Bama quarterback, not McCarron, or it was one, it was like one of those guys.
Maceroy?
Maybe it was Macleroy.
Was it really?
No, it was not McElroy.
You're right.
It was not McElroy.
I was just going off of Bama quarterback.
Sorry.
Some former bigger name quarterback.
I was like, oh, no, Georgia, not from the guy.
Aaron Murray.
Murray.
It was Aaron Murray.
And the play-by-play guy was like, man, so what do you think about Zane Flores?
Like, what are some of the saving graces here?
And Murray was like, I, uh, uh, he's just good.
He's got really nice hair.
He's like, he's got a sick name.
You know, you know, he's getting these Zanes walking around the world.
Him and Isaac Wilson should go toe to toe in a QB camp and just those poor kids.
In Zane's defense, he put up at least a somewhat admirable ball game.
It's the first time we've looked at a performance and said,
we have a little bit of hope.
Yeah, I like that.
Coming out.
J.T., how's Jackson Benny?
Oh, Jackson Bay.
We're still waiting on an update, man, but he because they, we talk by week.
We don't, we have a hard enough time getting here from Witt, but we know he is about
injuries, right?
But hopefully he's back soon.
I mean, three picks all right this year, going both ways.
That's a problem for them.
And we're down some safeties and some other guys, massive loss if he's out.
Yeah, Iowa State also banged up.
Man, something about Utah.
And I know that we'll continue to use this like, oh, no, we're all, we're hurt because this is now three,
four years of this. But look, it's legitimate. Like, injuries have been a serious issue. What is in the
water? What is the strength and conditioning staff doing? Like, I, there are some programs that are so
prone to this that genuinely you ask the questions are, is there malpractice in how, in how Utah is
conducting, whether it's offseason, strength, conditioning. There's a question there. Chris Level
says no. I think they play a very physical style. And it's punishing, right? And it takes its toll on
their own guy. Some of this is just luck, bad luck. But,
This many years in a row?
Well, what you're saying too is...
Well, injuries happen to everyone, I would say.
I'd be willing to bet you, though, that unlike the PAC 12, this is a more physical style
of football week in and week out in this particular league, and I think there's something
to be said about that.
I totally agree with that.
And the one thing I'll say about Benny, that is strange is like some people like, oh,
he was playing both ways.
He hadn't even played like 20 snaps both ways.
This is when he was in, he was targeted a lot.
I don't think he was wearing down because of the dual threat playability.
But, I mean, injuries happen to everyone.
It's the turf at Morgantown, man.
JT.
wasn't Utah going full contact
for like a spring game
for like quarterbacks
and everyone like a year ago
or two years ago?
At least a year or two ago,
yeah,
there was not during the spring game
but during some practice
because they got a quarterback
for it last year was bad.
At some point,
you got to turn the volume down a little bit.
That's self-inflicted on some of that, yeah.
I'm sure it's a finable offense
to disagree with level,
but I think that there is some validity
to the strength and conditioning thing
because Oklahoma State,
we don't practice heavy.
We don't go to the ground, but our strength and conditioning coach is world-renowned for being able to get people 45, 55 pounds heavier and all that fun stuff.
But there has been a lot of injuries in Stillwater, and we don't do any full contact stuff, and it's been piling up over years.
And you're starting to hear some things that it's because he's all about mass, and he's less about dexterity and flexibility and lateral side-to-side stuff.
He's a weight room, dude.
He's an old school.
I'm going to put a bunch of weight on you kind of guy
and maybe less about the dexterity portion
and I think that could be viable to that argument.
Are they wearing the bras in the still water, Cody?
What's that?
Are they wearing the bras?
Or were we just going straight weight?
No, no, no.
We like to let it hang free in Oklahoma, man.
The boys from Oklahoma.
How do you drive down on dirt road after so many beers?
You got to let it free flow.
San Marcus not only welcomes that.
they encourage it. They're going to love Mike Gundy and San Marcos. It's going to be a riot. Coming up,

If G.J. Kinney did not beat Baylor in that game,
Is he on the top of everyone's list
as the next hot name and coaching candidates?
And it's funny because Joey McGuire knows
both of the guys you're asking about.
He's like very, very close
and talks to Jeff Traylor and G.J. Kinney a lot all the time.
And I think these are both guys
that are both ready for a power for opportunity.
And I think Oklahoma State would do well with either guy.
Kenny may be only known around Texas circles,
but he's an up-and-comer man.
I mean, he's, here's what's interesting about hiring a Jeff Trailer or a G.J. Kenny, though, in this sport these days.
Do you have a general manager?
Are you willing to have 20 to 30 people that report to you and you let somebody else call the plays because you're overseeing this giant organization?
It's a bit of a different job than it was three or four years ago.
Can Coach Kenny or Coach Trailer, are they ready for all that?
I mean, and maybe they are, but I just think that, like, the jump is different now than it used to be and just, I'll put my staff together.
We'll run this offense and away we go.
You're playing a different kind of game right now with personnel departments and all kinds of things that was never a thing before.
You've got to have somebody that negotiates these deals with rev chair and there's just a lot, a lot going on here.
So the lawyer was in the same boat, was he not, when he got hired at tech?
Say it again?
wasn't Joey McGuire in the same boat when he got hired at tech well no because he hired a general he brought a general manager from him with him and they were kind of at the I mean and you know Drake knows this James Blanchard they were kind of came up with this system before it even really started which some people thought they were crazy like wait your your coaches don't even make the offers to recruits no we have a personnel department that's going to do that we have a you know we have a general manager and all those things so it has changed since he's been here
But even then, how different is it now than it was even for Joey McQuire three or four years ago?
Well, Cody Campbell's involvement.
Touch on that, Chris.
It's like, when did that start?
Like, estimate.
Year and a half, two years ago?
Right.
And that changes.
And these folks are involved at all these programs.
You know, Cody's just a bit more out there with it and transparent.
But these people are, they are in some ways.
they are general managers or owners of the program because they hold the purse strings.
Oh, you want this donation for this deal? Well, then this is what I want. And luckily, at tech,
they're aligned and there's not a bunch of ego and all that stuff because at some places,
I don't think, like Arkansas, for example, I don't think they could really get everybody on
the same page as it relates to football and it didn't really work.
Yeah, basketball at Arkansas is proven that their donors will pay big bucks.
correct they could be the next texas tech i think texas tech is ahead of the curve in comparison
football-wise to arkansas no doubt no doubt it's just tough to do in the cc i feel like because there's
a lot of other things going on the cc i think it's easier and they're sure everyone in the cc has
money i'm not saying they'll win like like texas tex doing i'm saying i think they'll build
the similar model of going all out yeah yeah i will because even well even their even their athletic
directors set up in front of a bunch of people hunter your chick uh like a week and a half ago and he said
And he was like, we are built to win a national championship in basketball and in baseball.
We are not built to win a national championship in football.
And I think everybody was like, whoa, how dare you say that?
But I think people in the room are like, yeah, I get it.
And they're not.
It's tricky to tell your fans that, but they're not built to win the SEC, much less the national championship in football.
Then he also said they're going to invest more money in football so they can be.
And Sam Pittman's like, what about me?
Yeah.
And Mike Gundy's saying, what about me?
that's that's getting the letter again he's writing the letter talking to uh coach patterson last week
about this gary patterson he was like look it it's no secret when when he got fired from tCU
he went from one full-time strength conditioning coach to sunny dykes has five you know it's like
what what what did i get that what is it but it's the new shiny toy when jeff trailer comes
to town when j kerry the which by the way trailer coached j kynny at gilmer high school
pretty awesome uh when when that guy comes to
town, they get the bells and the whistles. They're the cool new toy. But he didn't play at
Tulsa, right? That's important. You forget that G.J. Kinney is a golden hurricane legend. And
since the golden hurricane just got rid of Mike Gundy, I feel like this is only fitting.
Wow. Well, and if we're going on old old hats, trailer did coach at Arkansas as an assistant
for a while. And as far as like where this three, you know, three ring circus ends up.
I would also point out someone who just, I think I'm the most recent coaching hire in the room.
you're nice the um like kenny and trailer were both very high on houston's radar it just it's the matter
of time for they make the g the g6 to p4 move and i think people know and bringing them in they're
going to have to fill in the gaps on the personnel stuff because that's not a thing like
that's just an assumed cost when you bring this in because they haven't had to deal with that in
the same kind of way i also i asked mac brown last week who does his makeup which was a wild thing
to ask mac brown but he was looking real he was looking real glimmery and he somehow said
with that like a parable about how he does his own makeup because when he was hired at Texas,
he had 35 staffers and now they have 105 staffers.
Like it's an insane.
I mean, even some of these universities that are big now or big then,
sometimes they don't, like, yeah, if Kenny gets hired at Oklahoma State,
he's going to have access to more staff than he's ever had before,
more people than he could ever hire that he knows to hire in departments like what Texas Tech's
doing, where it may not be Joey McGuire shaking your dad's hand and giving you the offer.
it's going to come from a much more
infrastructure position in your football
program which I think is a good thing
I think trailer's up for a job every year
like Texas is weird isn't it like
he's like staying too long like
go now is he pulling a Matt Campbell
he wanted to go to A&M but they went
with Elko instead
right but I mean I did up for every job though Chris right
like in the state of Texas
and he was in the Texas tech job
and I think he essentially was like
Yeah, I don't want to.
He kind of was like that wasn't super interested in that one either.
And I think he prefers to be a UT or A&M, but those are difficult to get, as we know.
Yeah, so what it's worth, like even Eric Morris at North Texas is the name that you're hearing float quite a bit around in Stillwater.
Jeff Trailer has, I haven't heard him mentioned other than like national analyst, but inside Stillwater, I mean, I've heard even Colin Klein mentioned, but no Jeff Trailer.
So I don't know if he doesn't have any interest
Or maybe he's trying to build a Boise State kind of thing
Or like the Gonzago football
Where it's just like, why can't this be the G5 or G6 now representative?
And I can tell you that he has been frustrated at UTSA
in the last two to three years for what they don't have
But again, you know, you overstay it a bit
And it's like, okay, well, and I don't have any more leverage.
So yeah, who knows?
That's a really, Fritz has this.
Fritz is like he's now.
65, 67?
65.
65, he's one ever, but the deal
is, and the two lane thing took a while to build
up, but on, I mean,
he had multiple examples of building programs
up. Yeah. Trailer and Kenny
didn't have, though, to get to this,
you know, to, sorry, Houston, but
Houston.
And Lance Leipold went through
a very similar trajectory as Willie Fritz has.
Lance Leipold at lower
division football as an actual, like,
legendary name. Yeah. Like, like,
like legendary, legendary.
That was a bad loss last week really quick.
What happened with Kansas?
I just, I think if you're a competitor.
I was.
I think Cincinnati is got a chance to make things interesting, man.
I selfishly need Cincinnati to be good because I need homecoming to be a night game.
I don't care if we get absolutely massacred.
I just selfishly need it to be a night game.
Are they last year's Arizona State where we all think they suck and then they go on and make a run?
That would be crazy.
Well, something they lost to Nebraska.
That would really hurt if they end up being the good one.
Yeah, because they've moved.
And that's not going to be that good, J.T.
They're not going to be just good enough to be interesting, but not that good.
They're not winning this league.
Hey, love it.
This has been and always will be.
