We'll also talk a little bit about.
about the starting pitching market leading up to this month's trade deadline.
Talk a little bit about if the Mariners could add a starting pitcher from the outside before the end of the month.
But before we get into all of that, we have a roster move.
Well, part of one to quickly mention.
The Mariners, according to MLB trade rumors.com, are adding left-hand reliever Joe Jock to the roster.
acquired jock from los angeles a few weeks ago we don't know what the corresponding move is yet
i would assume though that it's going to be one burgos who uh was all right in his major league
debut last night but uh that's just the way it goes uh we'll see if burgos is also the corresponding
move uh as far as the 40-man roster goes because the uh the mayors do have have to make a move
in that regard as well to get jock in the fold.
But there's some other options as well,
like Las Castanio, Taylor Saucato,
maybe one of the position players like Rylan Thomas
or some odd Taylor.
So we'll see what they do there.
But quite a few lovers that they could pull
and you're not going to really lose any sleepover.
Anyway, let's get into this game here.
last night
well yesterday on the show
I should say
we talked about how on Monday
the marins were able to get both the pitching
and the offense going all at once
and it was beautiful
last night
they couldn't get the pitching or the offense
to work for them
and so they lost six to three
the offense missed out on multiple
opportunities to claw their way
back into this game after
the royals put up five on emerson hancock on 15 hard hit balls over the course of six
innings uh it was nice that hancock was at least able to give them six innings and burgos was
able to give them two so the bullpins in a pretty good shape bizardo uh had to throw the
the other inning so uh mayor's bullpen in pretty good in a pretty good spot for the next
couple days uh so that's kind of the one silver lining from this game but uh yeah the offense
It's just not good enough.
Double plays killed them last night, killed their momentum.
Cowellie had a four strikeout night.
Yeah, you're just not going to win many games when things are going like that.
So, yeah, general thoughts coming out of the game, Colby.
Yeah, you needed a lot better from the top of your order.
One through four was just an absolute disaster.
like the one hit they actually got didn't even matter because polo was picked off because
he's got no juice in his legs whatsoever uh so he gets picked off and then of course randy
immediately hits the home run and boy how nice would have been to have that extra run last night
uh so yeah the top of the order just was was a disaster i mean just abject failure uh from
you know the three guys that are you know all-star quality position players
Um, they all just failed.
Every single one of them failed.
Um, and then, yeah, you know, the bottom of the order, give them some credit.
They were able to generate traffic.
They, uh, you know, they scored a couple of runs.
They scratched out a couple of runs.
Uh, and, uh, it, it kept them in that game.
But yeah, I mean, basically, if you're one through four hitters, have one hit
between all four of them, uh, it doesn't matter what the bottom of the order does,
because the bottom of the order just isn't going to impact,
the baseball as well as, you know, obviously Julio and Cal and supposedly polo can.
So it's a bummer, but, you know, it is what it is.
Sometimes games go like that.
But, yeah, the offense, it's very simple to see what happened last night.
You didn't get good enough starting pitching.
And your three best hitters were your three worst hitters last night.
You know, that happens.
But it is a bummer when it happened.
happens all in the same game. And obviously Seattle, right now, not in amazing position.
So whenever you have one of these games, it stings a little more. It's not as easy to write off as if you were Detroit or, you know, Houston or New York or whoever.
Like, it's kind of like, you're a little concerned about a snowball effect. So hopefully they come out tonight.
They score early. Get a couple hits from the top of the order.
and they get better starting pitching.
So, yeah, last night's game, it was lost because you're one through four guys
where you're four worst hitters.
And that continues.
It's a problem.
If not, it's just one of those games.
Yeah.
The one big positive here, Randy Orozarena, like you mentioned, he hit another home run
after heading two on Monday.
He has 11 now on the year.
And in total on the season, he's now slashing two.
248, 360, 427 with a 132 WRC plus.
He's now up to 2.2 F4, which is 0.2 better than his entire mark last year.
So Randy's been really good, especially since June 8th.
Since June 8th, he's slashing 321, 414, and he's slug in 571.
That's kind of the big thing there.
Four homers, nine doubles over that span, which is now just a little under.
a month long.
Again, like I mentioned, he's now up to a 427 slug on the season as a whole.
Obviously, he was sub 400 last year.
That's not where Randy needs to be.
What Randy is right now is where he needs to be.
We're seeing as close to Tampa Bay, Randy a Rose Arena, as we've seen in a while from this guy.
Yeah, it's always funny to me that people talk about like, oh, Randy or Rose Arena, as we've seen in a while from this guy.
about like, oh, Randy's been kind of disappointing since coming to Seattle.
And it's like, I mean, dude's like a career 125 WRC plus in Seattle, which is basically what his career is.
Like, but yeah, I mean, lately he's been locked in.
And I think the big difference is that he's actually punishing the fastball.
Like he was having issues with the fastball in April and May.
And now, you know, over the last little bit less than a month, he's hitting the fastball.
You put a fastball in the zone, he'll hit it.
And, you know, Randy's going to have some really bad at bats.
That's part of his game, you know, just like truly dreadful at-bats, non-competitive at-bats.
And he's going to, you know, he'll chase at really weird times, but he's got a keen eye.
We know he has the power.
The stolen bases are, you know, he's probably going to be 20-20th at the end of the year,
just like he is every year.
He's probably going to be a 20% above league average hitter just like he is pretty much every year.
And he actually grades out okay defensively this year, believe it or not, particularly in the outs above.
average category. So yeah, Randy's been a really good player and quietly been,
obviously he's not going to make it, but he's quietly been like an all-star. Like he's on pace to
be about a three, three and a half one player. It's a fringe all-star. And so Randy,
you know, again, a lot of it's been carried by the last three weeks, but he's been very good
in Seattle. And it's nice to see him heat up here and particularly at Team Mobile Park,
because one of the big draws of Randy Rosarena is that he's always hit pretty well.
at T-Mobile. And so for him to start to do that, awesome. You need some more power from
somebody not named Cal Raleigh in this lineup. Julio's still pounding the ball straight into the
ground every single time. So somebody needs to step up and it's not going to be polo. Who knows
when Julio's going to start elevating. So Randy needs to be that guy. And for the last couple
days, he has been. And really for the last couple weeks, he has been. All right. We're going to talk
more about Emerson Hancock tonight. Talk about if maybe it's time to call up Logan Evans,
all that stuff in just a moment.

And as always, before we get into our second segment of the day,
I'll give you a quick update on what we got going on with Feeding America.
Oh, my, you guys really came through at a huge way.
This was our biggest run we've had over the course of this fundraiser.
We are now, well, actually, you know what?
I'll save the grand total in a second.
Anonymous came through with $10.
Anonymous with $33.
Chowderheaded Yokel with $10.
Anonymous with $400.
Anonymous with $100.
Anonymous with $254.
Donovan Solano and Joyer with $10.
Notamist after last night.
Anonymous with $20.
Anonymous with $50.
Muddy Monkey printing with $500 and another anonymous donation for $200,
which brings us to a grand total of $8,741 raised.
Yeah, it's, I mean, it's awesome.
Like that was $1,000 in the day, pretty close to it.
Over, over.
Oh, well, yeah.
So that in one day this late until our giveaway or our giveaway, our fundraiser.
You guys don't get anything but good vibes from donating.
Real fast before we describe this even further.
The Mariners optioned Emerson Hancock to make room for Joe.
And it is apparently pronounced Jakes.
That's according to the Mariners PR press release.
So.
Okay.
Joe Jakes then.
Yeah.
That's like, you know, Calvin Foucher.
You know, it was actually fochette.
It's like the opposite of that.
This is the opposite, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So anyways, we'll definitely be talking about that in a minute.
Yeah, just to get the spiel here, we're raising money for feeding America.
It's a great organization that aims to feed America.
One in five children in this country are food insecure.
They do not know where their next meal is coming from.
More than 50 million Americans do not know where their next meal is coming from.
and everything is just getting more and more expensive.
So Feeding America does a great job,
working with wholesalers directly with farms and whatnot,
to buy food at a very low cost so they can make nutritious meals for people
who desperately need them.
For every dollar raised, Feeding America is able to create at least 10 meals
from every single dollar that they raise.
It's an incredible value, really good bank for your buck.
So even a $10 donation is giving 100 meals to people who desperately,
desperately need them. So every dollar really does count with a with a group like Feeding America.
We're very happy to partner with them. If you guys haven't donated yet, please do. If you guys
have donated, you know, we're starting to see a couple of businesses pop in here and donate some
some funds. We had a donation today from a business. Ty. You read them, right? Yeah. Yeah. So
So, yeah, so maybe, you know, check in with your bosses,
checking with your place of employment, see if maybe they want to donate.
And also remember that Ty and I are donating 10 cents for every new subscriber that we get
this until, you know, this is over, which is in about 10 days, 10, 11 days.
So we're in the home stretch here, guys.
You know, the fact how quickly we got, you know, to what, 8,000 or whatever it is,
maybe we can't get to 10.
That'd be really awesome.
Nice, nice clean round number.
So again, please consider donating if you haven't already or if you already have.
You can donate twice.
That'd be cool.
Share the link with your friends, your families, maybe talk to your employer, see if they'll match your donation or whatnot.
You know, throw it out there on your social media, whatever you can do to help to get it out there.
And remember, you can donate one meal just by clicking the subscribe button on this YouTube channel.
And I think with the new subscribers that we've added, we are already over the $8,000 mark.
now once we donate that.
Yeah, sorry.
Once we donate that in a lump sum at the end of our fundraiser.
So thank you to everybody who's donated.
Thank you to everybody who's considering it.
Thank you to everybody who's talking to their boss or their employer or whatever.
Anybody who's subscribed.
Anybody who's helped in any way.
Thank you very much.
And yeah, yesterday was a lot of fun to see all the donations rolling.
Yeah.
So I added it all up.
We got $1,587 in donations between yesterday's episode and today.
so new bar to clear folks that's what we're saying we do that 10 days in a row and end up over 20,000
I mean maybe look last time we did this the reason that we got to 15,000 was like in the last week
we got a $3,000 donation and a $2,000 donation five thousand dollars yeah so you know just putting it
out there wink wink nudge nudge etc okay so uh the baroners ruined segment two by uh sending
emerson hancock down uh for for joe jakes apparently that that's how you pronounce
apparently that's how you you pronounce that so uh yeah i guess i mean that answers the question
there on the side of the screen if you're watching on youtube emerson hancock or logan evans it's
going to be Logan Evans once Hancock's turn through the rotation comes around, I presume.
Yeah, at least for one start.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
See, the bearers, the bearers were on this segment.
I don't know where to go from here.
We were going to talk all about, you know, is it time to, to, you know, try something different in the rotation?
Clearly the bears think so.
So, yeah, I guess what do you think about the move?
Yeah, it's a bit surprising.
one thing that I will say is that we've talked about this over the last few
is you're in the middle of this big stretch of games without days off
and you only have one day off between well,
oh, two weeks ago in the All-Star break.
So the possibility is if you need an extra bullpen arm,
you could always, you know, send down Hancock,
call up an extra reliever, have a nine-man bullpen
to get you through some of this tough stretch.
And then you could just use Logan Evans
and call him up for the bullpen arm and have him make a spot start and then just kind of recycle it and send Evans back down, call up another reliever.
And then when that spot in the rotation comes up again, which it's only going to come up, I think with the off day on Monday.
Like I think this spot comes up Sunday.
So Logan Evans will have to make a start on Sunday.
Yeah.
Also, I just realized, so their 40 band was at 39 players.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They didn't have to make a 40 man move.
Okay.
So that's my mistake from earlier in the show.
Well, I mean, MLB Trade Rumors said it was full of 40.
And I'll tell you this, if you guys ever doing a podcast, try not to count like in the middle of a middle second.
You really throw you off.
But yeah, so I think there's, I think the number five spot, unfortunately, still going to come up twice before the All Star Break.
Even with the one off day, just it's the way it's positioned is I think both Sundays will have to be started by a number five starter.
But yeah, so you could still have Hancock, you know, make that last start before the All-Star break.
But you could get the extra bullpen arm essentially for, you know, the last two or the last 10 days, you can have an extra bullpen arm.
And only skip Hancock technically once by going to Logan Evans.
So we did talk about this as a possibility.
You know, the bullpen I thought was in pretty decent shape after the,
the last two nights.
They were kind of able to reset, except for poor Bizarro,
dude can't get to Tayhoff to save his life.
Can he not pitch for two days?
Like, is that possible to give him two days off in a row?
I guess not.
I'm going to,
I'm going to look up his game log.
I want to see exactly what it's been.
It's frequent.
But yeah,
so it's an interesting move.
I think this is just about like, hey, look,
we're playing a lot of games in a lot of days.
The rotation did not do its job in terms of
giving us innings on the road trip.
We're tired.
We need an extra arm.
Let's just make this move.
It's temporary.
You know,
it also could be a little bit about giving Hancock just a breather.
Like, hey,
you're going to sit.
You're not going to make a start in Tacoma.
If you do,
maybe you only go like two innings.
But we're going to essentially give you 10 days off.
And then we'll bring you back.
And then you'll have the All-Star break off.
And you can kind of get a mid-season reset there as well.
Or maybe they're just not happy with this.
performance because to be frank hancock's been bad the last couple times out so yeah hancock last night
just the one strike out he walked three guys he gave up seven hits he had 15 hard hit balls uh and the
velo was down and that's kind of the big thing uh he was averaging 93 and a half miles per hour on the on the
two seam and then uh was averaging i think 94 on the four sam uh the two seam was down by a full tick
last night and Hancock if he's not throwing 95 96 97 like we have seen at times this year
not competitive he needs the VLO right because as we talked about he doesn't have the off speed
pitch to counteract that and the change up is only valuable if you can get fastball value
and not only were was the VLO down last night the spin rates were down a little although
nothing to be super concerned about but the the vertical break was down uh
yesterday. So induced vertical break was down yesterday. So the stuff just wasn't as good,
quite frankly. And again, for long stretches of that game, he was 92, 93. And yeah, it's just
very clear that that Hancock is, well, turning back into a pumpkin. He's a number five starter.
That's fine. That's who he is. But number five starters, even number five starters don't typically
implode as often as Hancock does because we talk about how great he is and all that
and yeah he had like he's made 13 starts this year I think 14 15 15 15 and about five of
them have been non-competitive the other 10 have been really solid some of them have been really
good for okay and so still one out of three one out of four so he so there was obviously
the bad start against the tigers
then pretty good until that Yankees start at home, where he gave up seven.
Yep.
And then pretty good, tell the Cubs.
Yeah, and then pretty good until the Cubs and then last night.
Yeah.
So basically 25% of the time, he doesn't even give you a shot to win the game.
That's not good.
And when the Velo's down and when the commands down, like, the thing with Hancock is that he's never even had like 55 command.
Like, he throws strikes for the most part.
but they're in the middle of the plate.
And the stuff's not good.
And that's how you give up 15 hard hit balls.
And if you're giving up hard hit balls and you're not keeping it on the ground,
you're in danger because that's where you give up home runs.
That's where you give up extra base hits.
So Hancock, you know, Ameris should be looking to upgrade from him.
I don't know if Evans is an upgrade or not.
I really don't.
I think they're very similar in terms of like what you can expect them to give you.
So I don't know if this Hancock thing is a one,
just a one start.
we needed the extra bullpen arm type of thing and might as well take advantage of it or is it like hey let's give him an extended break before his last start or the all-star break or is it evans is going to get two starts and then after the all-star break we'll bring hancock back in and we can carry the extra bolping guy for basically two weeks without any kind of issues so we'll see what it is but yeah it is interesting that hancock has been optioned down and after last night's start
Um, I, I think it's possible that it is not just a, oh, we just need an extra bullpen arm, uh, called up.
So we'll see which one it is, but I, I do think that the timing and all that is,
maybe just maybe this is the Mariners looking at Emerson Hancock being like, yeah, we, we might be
running out of, uh, some magic here. All right. Yeah. And I mean, look, the, the, the,
facts of the facts and i know you know we get classified as emerson hancock caters and blah blah blah blah but the the numbers
don't lie emerson hancock among uh starting pitchers with at least 70 innings pitch this year it's
105 total pitchers he's dead last in f4 he is 98th in er a the phipp he is dead last in phipp
like he's been one of the worst pitchers in baseball this year
despite how many competitive starts he has put together
and you know salute to him for the contributions that he has made
and for stabilizing this rotation a bit
especially while the team was dealing with
all the all the injuries that it was
but statistically
this isn't tenable
it has an expiration date
Yeah, so is Logan Evans an upgrade?
I don't know.
I kind of feel like he has a chance to be more competitive than Hancock.
I guess the biggest thing here or the most concerning thing here that I'll say is that I don't feel or I feel about the same about them as I do Bryce Miller right now, this version of Bryce Miller dealing with dealing with.
So even if he does kind of factor back into the equation here,
I think the Barrens might need to look on the outside of the organization for help.
So we're going to dive into that in just a moment.

And you're listening to the Lockdown Mariners podcast.
So can the Mariners who obviously need to focus on upgrading the offense,
that's the biggest issue with this team just from a talent perspective.
again like I talked about a couple days ago I think the biggest issue with this team is that you can't rely on the starting rotation turn to turn to turn through it and we'll dive into that a little bit more here in a second but obviously they need to focus on offense of the deadline that's where they need to pour most of their resources in but could they upgrade in the rotation yeah what's that going to cost so for them to actually get a true upgrade because I even have
have doubts that Andrew Heaney, for example, is a true upgrade because Andrew Heaney and two of his last
three starts has given up seven runs apiece. So Heaney's kind of pitching like a number five
starter. And again, like we talked about number five starters, they're going to have really good
starts. They're going to have blowup starts like we've seen from Emerson to Hancock.
So I feel like you kind of have like if you are going to trade for a starting pitcher,
you need to trade for someone better than that.
So how, what kind of resources are you willing to spend on starting pitching?
First of all, I think Heaney is better than Hancock.
I don't care about the last couple starts.
I have an entire career of Emerson, Hancock, that tells me that dude's not good.
I mean, but Heaney is significantly regress.
And his one calling card, the strikeouts, that's significantly regress.
He's not striking anyone out right now.
I'd still rather have Andrew Heaney than Emerson Hancock.
Because you know what?
Emerson Hancock's never struck dudes out.
I mean, they're striking out.
They're striking out guys about the same right now this year.
Emerson Hancock's not good.
Like flat out, I have a decade.
Andrew Haney might not be good.
I have a half a decade of Hancock right now that tells me this guy's not good.
So Haney, I'd rather have, but regardless of the name, what kind of, you know, resources
are you willing to give up?
pretty sizable like not top 100 dudes um but like you know would i give up like a couple of like
really enticing lottery tickets and would i give up like a tie pete and like a teddy mcraw those type
of guys sure would i give up a a tyler locklear somebody wants to buy into the changes he's made
sure um you know now if we want to talk about multiple years of a guy like freddie ralta
which the brewers keep on winning.
So that seems less and less likely.
Then we could have a different conversation.
But like I don't know if I want to pay the freight to get like a Zach Allen,
who's like the number one rental starting pitcher.
Who's not even having that great a year?
He's been bad.
Yeah.
So but obviously the track record there is substantial.
Sure.
Yeah.
You know, maybe an Eric Betty type.
Maybe a although the Cardinals keep on.
winning. Merrill Kelly might be a guy who would be interesting, but I want to use my best assets
to get the bats and then kind of figure out the number five, but you can get a pretty solid number
five starter at the deadline without it costing you a ton. Like, for example, how about the guy you just
faced last night? Michael Lorenzen is better than Emerson Hancock. Is he going to cost a ton? No. No, he's not.
but would he give you some, you know, some floor at that spot?
The real problem with Hancock is that the floor is the worst pitcher in Major League Baseball.
You need to do better than that.
And again, could Logan Evans be better than Lorenzen?
I don't know.
You could be, but it might not be.
So it's just one of those things.
To me, I'm willing to move for a number five starter.
I'm willing to move, you know, someone in that like 15 to 3.
30 range somewhere there for multiple years of a starter.
You know, I'd be willing to move up more.
I'd be willing to move more, but obviously the quality of the start would
matter.
Like a couple of years of a number five starter doesn't really give me anything.
A couple years of a number three starter.
Okay, now I'm interested because I'm probably trading Castillo this winter anyways and
all that.
So that's the aspect of this that I kind of that I wanted to bring up because
all the guys that you just mentioned,
from Fetty to
Kelly to Hini, etc.
All those guys are rentals.
Yes.
But this winter, you're probably going to trade
Luis Castillo.
So
is there a way that I can kind of get out ahead
of getting the Castillo
replacement? Maybe you get the Castillo
replacement in the deal in which you trade
Castillo like we talked about this past off season.
Right. But
could you maybe get out ahead of that
get the Castillo replacement right now it's the Miller replacement but next year it's the Castillo
replacement so you're not looking at potentially Logan Evans or emerson Hancock entering this
rotation full time in 2026 right so again you need to spend your best resources that you spend
at this deadline on bats I truly believe that but
If the opportunity is out there to get a club-controlled starter,
and maybe it's only for 2026 that they're club-controlled,
but someone that is controlled beyond 2025,
I'd seriously consider that,
because that's something that's going to be on your shopping list,
most likely this winter.
And again, there are some teams that have those guys
who are definitely going to be sellers.
And, you know, like, I don't think you're going to be shopping.
shopping in the Louis Severino range,
even though the,
the A's really want to get out of that contract,
and Severino apparently doesn't want to be there.
Who would have thought that would go sour that fast?
Well, so I'm going to throw out an idea here,
and this is dependent on...
Let's say it at the same time.
This is dependent on these reports
being true.
The mayor's ownership is willing to expand payroll.
Sunny Gray.
And this would also require them to,
expand payroll beyond just being able to facilitate a trade for a bat, right?
Okay.
Sandy Alcantra.
I was thinking more Jeffrey Springs, but.
Sure.
Yeah.
Alcontra.
That's a good idea.
You know, I'm a big fan of Alcantra.
And it's Alcantara.
We need to remember that.
Is it?
Yes.
I'm on.
There's an ad.
Their own broadcast sells Al Contra, though.
It's spelled Ocantara, and I'm pretty sure that's what the pronunciation guide on baseball
reference says it is.
All right. Joe Jakes, Sandy Alcantara.
Look it up. I mean, maybe I'm wrong about it.
You thought it was Joe Jock.
Yeah. So, yeah.
You know, you thought it was Foucher when it's Foshae.
Fosha. Yeah, yeah.
We're learning how to pronounce baseball players on this episode of the Lockdown
Marys podcast.
Yeah. Al-Contara on a baseball reference.
Al-Cantara.
Yeah, he's pitching better as of late.
And yeah, he's he's kind of what Luis Castillo was.
Doesn't miss as many bats as Castillo.
But he's going to go, he's going to give you innings.
He's going to get a lot of ground balls.
Like that's kind of what he does.
And he does have the stuff to miss more bats.
It's just he never really has.
So why would you expect it at this point?
But yeah, he would be fun.
Like I would really enjoy that.
I'm a big fan of him when he was healthy.
And it looks like he's starting to get healthier as the season progresses.
So it's definitely got to watch.
I doubt the problem with him, like you said, is like, is like, okay, well, they're willing to expand payroll, but how much?
And if I expand the payroll for a pitcher, it is like, are they going to expand it more for the hitter I need?
Probably not.
So it's kind of one of those.
And the other thing with him, too, is like, he's been bad this year.
If you're acquiring him, you think you have the fix because the stuff is still good.
Yeah.
But you need to get, but you need to get him back.
on track. You need him to actually produce. And maybe that just naturally comes the more removed he is
from his injury that he suffered. But yeah, I mean, he's making, you know, it's going to be a pro-rated
$17.5 million this year. It's going to be $17.3 million next year. And there's a club option,
$2027 for $21 million, the $2 million buyout. So that's a hefty chunk of change,
especially for a pitcher who again has been bad this year
but you're really banking on the tools
and you're really banking on your your pitching development system here
to shine through and get this guy going again
because when he is going he's a Cy Young candidate
yeah yeah honestly I like my Jeffrey Springs idea
sure and that would give the mirrors a different look that they just don't have in their rotation right now with a lefty
not only that it's also a guy who's not fastball heavy like the rest of their rotation he's uh you know change up breaking ball type of guy uh so yeah it's it's a guy like that and i don't know is are the aes almost at oakland
are they willing to trade him in division yeah probably the aes aren't going anywhere this year and springs really cost them nothing in terms of
prospect capital.
So they're going to get more return on their investment than they gave up.
And could the Mariners get him for less than, you know, Harry Ford, Las Montes, like those
type of guys?
I think probably, yeah.
So we'll see.
But there are definitely guys out there again.
Don't think that like, oh, there's just nobody out there that's better than Emerson Hancock.
Yes, there is.
And it's not so much being better than Hancock at his best.
it's about finding a guy who is much less likely to implode on a night-to-night basis like
Emerson Hancock is.
So again, I'm with you.
Focus should be on the bats.
But they should be having conversations on arms.
And if they find a deal that works for them, they should pounce on it.
Yeah.
Yeah, Springs this year, you know, he hasn't been great.
But there was one star where he gave up six.
That was still a blue jays.
One star where he gave up five, that's it in terms of blowups.
but it's been a lot of three earn runs, two run runs.
There's one four earn run game.
There's more stability there over the course of his 16 starts than with Hancock.
You remember like, obviously health has been an issue here, but remember like not like not pandemic Marco, but like just before like 2019 Marco Gonzalez.
Springs is very similar to that type of guy.
We're just like, yep, he's a he's a number four, number five.
Lefty knows how to pitch, understands who he is, doesn't try to do anything special,
and just going to give you innings, and boom, and he stayed healthy this year,
and that's a big thing, but there are injuries in his past, so a bit of a red flag there.
But we'll see what they decide to do, but they could really use like a 2019 Margo in the back of this rotation right now.
And they don't have that in the org, unfortunately.
All right, well, that is going to do it for our show.
