Starting point is 00:00:00 The Mariners have acquired Randy a Rosarana from the Tampa Bay Rays. We'll break the trade down coming up here on the Lockdown Marrars podcast. Colby, hit it. Starting point is 00:00:32 This is signing is all us and Colby Patnaud for the Lockdowne Marys podcast, part of the Lockedon. on podcast network, your team, every day. All right, don't mind the background. Don't mind the bad lighting. I'm Bob Barkering the mic right now. It's a whole mess tonight, but for a very good reason, because we have a major,
Starting point is 00:00:49 major trade to talk about. The Seattle Mariners have acquired All-Star Outfielder, Randy a Roserana from the Tampa Bay raise for prospects Aiden Smith, Brody Hopkins. Friend of the show, by the way, Brody Hopkins,
Starting point is 00:01:04 wishing him for the best of luck. and player to be named later. Before we break it all down, this emergency episode of the Lockdown Marys podcast is brought to you by booking.com, booking. Yeah. That's right, Colby.
Starting point is 00:01:21 The right stay can make you a fan of any city, even your rivals. Check out booking.com for your stay today. And if you want to hear from me and Colby even more and help support the show, check out our Patreon. The link is in the description. You can sign up for free.
Starting point is 00:01:35 seven day try. All right. So it's about seven months later than we thought it would have been. But finally, Randy a Rosarena is a Seattle mayor. Colby, what do you think? Yeah, it's exciting and it's hilarious because, you know, this winter we had heard that the mariners were really interested in Randy Roserana, but then we also heard from people who would know that the Mariners' interest in Randy Rose Arena never really was there. Like they just didn't care that much about Randy. He wasn't a target of theirs this winter. And, you know, now he's here.
Starting point is 00:02:12 And that's also a couple days ago, we saw a report that, oh, the Mariners, they don't actually even want any of the raised right-handed bats. They're interested in the left-handed bats only. And now two days later, they acquire a right-handed bat, a guy who they may or may not have liked this winter. And it just goes to show this time of year, nobody really knows anything until it's official. And this deal is official. It has been announced by the Mariners. Uh, so, uh, it's officially official. And the Mariners acquire not one, not two, but three chances with Randy or Rosarena.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Yes. Three playoff chases. They will have Randy Roserina, uh, if they so choose. Uh, obviously there's, you know, Arb and they can train them again, blah, blah, blah, blah, and all that. But Randy or Roserana is a Seattle mariner. The Mariners, I don't want to say they have their Robin to to Julio's Batman, but they do have a guy. That's the idea. Right. They do have a guy who does have some star power. He has personality.
Starting point is 00:03:09 He's pretty well liked across the league as far as we know. I believe him and Julio are actually pretty close, like off the field. Randy Rosarena, by the way, a career 289, 333, 511 hitter at Team Mobile Park. Now granted, that's only 48 plate appearances. But whatever. It seems relevant, right? with all the discourse about Randy that this guy has had success at T-Mobile Park.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Well, just general with with hitters, right? Like, anytime they had a hitter, you know, just you never know. You never, I literally tweeted this. Like, again, we got very excited about Horry Polanco and Mitch Garber and all these guys that were coming off really good seasons
Starting point is 00:03:46 and ad track record, especially Polanco, who was consistently a really good hitter and had rarely ever experienced like this up and down, up and down type of thing that some of the other hitters that the Maris have brought in. And yet we've seen, what's happened with. So yeah, you have to always add that caveat. You don't know how these guys are
Starting point is 00:04:04 going to adapt to playing in T-Mobile Park for most of their game, especially a guy like Randy who's going from, you know, Tropicana Field and indoor stadium to, you know, the confines of T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington. So, yeah, you know, and obviously he got off to a rough start this year, right? Right. Which caveat to that is like the one thing we're doing right now is we're breaking down numbers because he got off to a really rough start, but since June 1, he's hitting 290, 402, 517. Yep.
Starting point is 00:04:36 So pretty much two months now, he's been an all-star quality hitter. He really flipped the switch on June 14th. And since then, he's running a 180 WRC plus. It's 301, 403-575 slash line. Which, yeah, that's
Starting point is 00:04:52 automatically the Mariners best hitter by far. Right. And again, even with his struggles in the first half, if you look at his totality of his season, he would still be the best hitter on the Mariners. Like, even with no qualifier, just his as a whole. That says more about the Mariners' offense than it does. Because overall on the season, he's just a 110 WRC plus bat.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Right. Which is good. It's good. Yeah. Compared to what, you know, the rest of the Mariners lineup looks like, that's a Hall of Famer. Right. He had some swing and miss issues early. Those have been, you know, more or less corrected. He's not never going to strike out. He will strike out on occasion, but for the most part, he's going to put the ball in play. He's going to hit the ball hard.
Starting point is 00:05:34 There's some athleticism here, too. He can steal some bags. He's a pretty good base runner. So yeah, the idea here is pretty simple. This is the Batman to Julio's, or the Robin to Julio's Batman. Like, this is the sidekick, right?
Starting point is 00:05:51 Obviously, Rosarana is not the perfect player. There's defensive issues there. He's never really quite like we're still kind of waiting for a true breakout season from Randy or Rosarana and he's 29 years old so like it's probably not going to happen to the point where like we're probably not ever going to see playoff Randy that you know bubble Randy whatever you want to call him we're probably never going to see that over the course of an entire season in his career this is still a very good hiter this is the guy who in a good lineup would hit probably
Starting point is 00:06:18 four or five maybe two depending on where you're at in the Mariners lineup he's probably going to hit three unless there are more moves to be made which will get to later. But yes, Randy or Rosarana is a Seattle Mariner. That's great. At the end of the day, this is exactly the type of player you need. Do you need more like it? Sure. But for a first step, for a, you know, the first splash, really. A Roserana is a great bit for the clubhouse. As far as we know, he seems to like hitting in the ballpark. He doesn't seem to bother him. Again, small sample size. He's on fire right now, which is something we talked about. You don't want to go acquire somebody and then try and fix him. You want somebody who's hitting now. Randy or
Starting point is 00:06:56 Rosarina does that. Again, it appears that this is a really good fit with Julio. So there shouldn't be any issues there. Yeah. So while there are some concerns, the defense, you know, the, I mean, you don't want to say like the production is a concern because he's been like 120 every year. It's just like he's not a stop that we thought he might be. But he's still a very good player who's still in his athletic prime. And you get him again, I cannot stress this enough. Not for one, not for two, but for three. three playoff races. And that is, it's a really good deal. And again, focus on what you got.
Starting point is 00:07:31 The Mariners didn't get them for free. And I've seen some people out there saying the Mariners fleece the raise. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. And we still don't know what the player to be named later is. That could be huge. It could be nothing. It could be huge.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I mean, we don't. One of the last times they had a player to be named later, that turned out to be Connor Phillips. It was a significant prospect of the time. Sure. Didn't end up hurting them that bad. But yeah. No.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Like it's, it is what it is. We have to wait and see who the player to be named later is. but at the end of the day, what the mayor did the Seattle mayors get better today with this trade? The answer is yes. And not only did they get better for 2024, they got better in theory. It's all theory.
Starting point is 00:08:09 But they got better in 2025 and 2026 as well. Well, that's the key to this, right? Because even if this season does still go sideways, you have him for another run and another run after that. Like you had to at least come, come away from this deadline with one.
Starting point is 00:08:26 controllable bat beyond this season. You had to. Had to. So you've got one. And now there's the possibility here for more. We'll get to that later on in the show. But next I want to talk about what the Mariners are giving up. Let's get into that a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:08:42 One quick side note. Sure. Before we go, just because it's fun. Mariners are trying to chase down a playoff spot here. They have their best shot to win the division in 20 years. If they can get there, Randy or Rosarana has the third highest slugging percentage. in playoff history.
Starting point is 00:08:58 Minimum of 100 played appearances, Randy Roserana slugging 4 or 690 in the playoffs, the two guys ahead of him. Again, all the caveats apply here, but the two guys ahead of him, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig. This guy performs in the playoffs. So it's all theoretical.
Starting point is 00:09:18 His performance, all of it is theoretical. But what we know today is a really exciting time for the Mariners. It's a really exciting night. for the Mariners Day for the Mariners. And at the very least, right? I don't know if he's going to be in the lineup tonight, I'm guessing by the time you guys are listening
Starting point is 00:09:34 slash watching this, it'll be tonight. But he's going to be in the lineup this weekend. And he should help a ton. Yeah, the rays were in Toronto this afternoon or this morning. So I would assume that he flew all the way back to Tampa with them. So I'm not sure what the logistics will be with that. But I think at the latest Saturday. we'll see how my hair is uniform.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Right. And again, I just one more thing to stress here. We know that Randy plays like with high energy. Like he is a high energy guy. This clubhouse based on how they've looked for the last 10 days, they could really use that Joel. So hopefully this is something that energizes other players in the clubhouse as well. And that is something that you factor in when you acquire. Well, and damn it,
Starting point is 00:10:20 they needed someone to tell them we still believe. Yes. So, and this is that. This is that. Now, you got to do more. Again, we'll get into that a little bit later. But now let's get into what the Marys gave up in this deal a little bit more in just a moment. You can catch the Mariners in the White Sox this weekend
Starting point is 00:12:30 and Randy a Rose Arena's Mariner's debut on the Marrers Hometown Broadcast with Sirius XM via the SXM app. All you have to view to find that is search the word Mariners. All right, so let's get into what the Marrars are giving up in the steel now. It's Aidan Smith. It's Brody Hopkins.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Two 2023 draft picks of the Marrars. A couple of guys that we know the Mariners front office really like. A couple of guys that you and I, Colby, really like. Brody Hopkins, of course, has been on this show. Again, wishing him nothing but the best of luck in his next chapter in his career. And there's also a player to be enabler involved in this deal. And that could be significant. That might not be.
Starting point is 00:13:12 We have no idea. We shouldn't even speculate on it because we don't know if that tilt, that, you know, tilts the thing one way or the other anyways. But at the very least, this trade is incomplete. So we don't have the full picture. So this could look a lot worse for the mirrors. It could look. about the same for the mares, who knows? We'll see.
Starting point is 00:13:30 But Aidan Smith, Brody Hopkins, what do you think about that return for Randy? For two and a half years of Randi? Yeah. This is like the hard part is that like you, just in our line of business, obviously we want to win, right? And I'm like, I'm not famous for anything,
Starting point is 00:13:48 but I'm famous for saying like, I don't care about the Modesto Nuts. I don't care about the Arkansas travelers and ultimately I care about the Seattle Marys. And that still all holds true. but Aiden Smith is like one of my guys. I was one of the highest people on Aden Smith. I know when they drafted him.
Starting point is 00:14:02 I've been high. He was going to be number eight in my re-ranked. I already started to plot it out. He was going to be number eight. You think about the seven guys who were in front of him, all star upside. That's what I thought about Aidan Smith. Brody Hopkins was going to jump up into, I think, 13 or 14. Like I was prepared to make Brody Hopkins the second best pitching prospect in the
Starting point is 00:14:19 mayor system in my ranks. Like he has taken a big stride this year. There's still huge reliever risk with Brody Hopkins. he still sometimes struggles to throw strikes. But the stuff is off the charts. The athleticism is off the charts. This is exactly the type of pitcher you want to target. It feels like a floor almost, a map rash.
Starting point is 00:14:38 So like Hopkins, that's a miss. Like you are going to, you are going to, you know, struggle to give up a guy like Hopkins if you're not getting multiple years of a guy like a Rosarena. And then obviously you had Aiden Smith. Like this is a guy, Aidan Smith could be an all-star. he could be Randy or Rosarena with better defense. Like he could be Randy Roseruner at the plate and like a solid center fielder. Like there is legitimate All-Star upside with Aiden Smith and legitimate All-Star upside with Brody Hawkins.
Starting point is 00:15:08 Here's the deal. Smith is three years away from the big league's minimum, at minimum. And Hopkins path to being a starter is still clouded. There are still roadblocks in front of him. He's a little bit of an older prospect. He's not 19, 20, 21 years old. So his path to the big leagues as a reliever pretty wide open probably could pitch out of the bullpen at the end of this year if you really wanted to push him. But the rays are definitely going to give him a shot to start.
Starting point is 00:15:35 They need pitching help in that system. And the raise pretty good at developing it. So there's a very high probability that you're going to look at this deal in three years and be like, man, how much fun would Brody Hawkins be to have in this lineup? Man, how much fun would it be to have Aidan Smith, you know, in this lineup? But at the end of the day, neither of these guys are like. to help you this year. They're definitely not going to help you this year. And they're probably we're going to be unlikely to help you next year. And this is the type of move that teams who are trying to win something meaningful make. They trade future assets, knowing that this could look bad
Starting point is 00:16:08 later on. It could look bad in a year. It could look bad in two years. But you're doing it for immediate impact right now. And that's what Randy or Rosa, Raina gives you. So if you're a raise fan who stumbled upon this podcast and we've seen that happen before, right? They come here. You should be pretty happy. Now, I know Randy Rosarina is a fan favorite and all that. Like, and obviously the, it sucks to trade a guy that, you know, you invest a lot of time and energy and, uh, we were there last year with Paul Seawald, right? Uh, so we understand that, but you should be pretty, I'd be pretty jacked about Aidan Smith and, uh, and Brody. They are super athletic. They have insane upside. Uh, you might have to be a little bit patient with them. Uh, it might take a couple
Starting point is 00:16:49 years for them to really mature and reach their ceilings and all that stuff. But this is a legitimate return for the race. And it is a package for the Mariners that they should happily, I don't mean, I don't mean it's easy for them to do this, but they should happily trade away a package like this to get a type of player that they got. Because that's what you do. That is how you act when you are competing for a pennant. You're competing for something to hang in the rafters. This is how you act. This is how you should act. So I'm going to miss Brody. I'm going to miss Aiden. I, love Aden Smith. He was like my guy.
Starting point is 00:17:24 As soon as I read that name on the tweet, I thought of you immediately. It's just like I love Aden Smith. I would, I absolutely have zero issues with the price they paid to get this guy. Obviously again, the player to be named later, if it's Harry Ford,
Starting point is 00:17:38 it's not going to be, but if it is like, okay, obviously that changes things a little bit. But at the end of the day, the Mariners got better and they used their farm system to do it. They use guys who couldn't help them now to get a guy who could help them now.
Starting point is 00:17:50 And that is the whole point. And not just now. Next year, the year after, potentially. Yeah. This is a deal that was absolutely necessary for this team. Again, because even if this season goes sideways, right? Even if they add more and just for whatever reason they can't get it going here, at the very least, you have them beyond this year.
Starting point is 00:18:17 get two more shots with them. You had to come away from this deadline with someone controlled beyond this year. So this is a massive win for them just in that regard. We can talk all about the things that we wanted from this deadline, but this is something the mayor is needed from this deadline, no matter what, no matter what the context of this particular season was. Right.
Starting point is 00:18:41 And like, again, keep this in mind, guys. trades are supposed to be win-win. That's the whole point of making them, right? So let's say the Mariners get two and a half really good years of Randy. They make the playoffs a couple times. And a Rosarana gives them, you know, seven, eight war or whatever over the next two and a half years, six war, whatever. And then Aidan Smith goes on and he has like a, he averages four wins a year for Tampa for four or five years. Like, yeah, that's not going to look good at the end of the day.
Starting point is 00:19:10 But the impact of a Rosarena now is why you give up. some of that future upside, some of that potential with a guy like Hopkins and a guy like Smith. So the mayors didn't fleece anybody here. That's not what happened. This isn't, you know, an easy trade to make. The valuation makes a lot of sense for Seattle. But I'll tell you this, like the Mariners did not want to trade Aden Smith. They did not want to trade Brody Hopkins. That is just the price you pay for a player like a Rosarena.
Starting point is 00:19:40 All right. So now let's get into what's next. because the Marys can't be done. They can't afford to be done. This offense needs significant help. Randy's a good start, but they absolutely need more. So let's get into what that could be in just a moment.
Starting point is 00:19:58 But first, a reminder, this episode of the Lockdown Marries podcast is brought to you by Tax Network USA and Stitch Fix. Starting point is 00:22:10 Offer does not include kids fixes. and you're listening to the locked on mariner's podcast once again you can catch the mariners and the white socks this weekend and of course randy a rose arana's mariner's debut on the merriors hometown broadcast with serious xm via the sxm app all you have to do to find that is search the word mariners now it would be really cool randy or rosarana wasn't the only one making his mariners debut this weekend so let's get into that because again probably the uh the marries they need a lot of offensive I don't know if you've heard, but this offense pretty bad. Rainier Rosarena certainly helps. But in theory. Yeah, in theory. In theory. Yeah, we're not doing chills anymore.
Starting point is 00:22:56 That's retired. We're not assuming things. Look, I'm jacked. Don't get me wrong. I'm jacked. But I'm not content yet here. The Mariners still need to do more. So what else do you think they could do?
Starting point is 00:23:09 What is this deal in particular signify to you about what they could do? the rest of the way here over the next four days. I think this deal is a pretty good representation of what somebody like a jazz chisholm could cost. Two and a half years, not a superstar, but a pretty good player having a good year, but not a great year.
Starting point is 00:23:32 This is almost the package that I thought they would trade for jazz chisholm. Right. And so could they do that again? Could they go and give up this trade package again for, and kind of go get a co-headliner to the deadline. Yes, of course they can. But it doesn't have to stop there. The Mariners gave up zero of their top five prospects in this deal.
Starting point is 00:23:56 Yes. They gave up zero of the players that we have heard the White Sox have interest in. So what I cannot do is I cannot sit here and rule out the possibility that the Mariners still make another splash and go get Luis Robert. That is still very much in the realm of possibility. Now, do I think it's likely
Starting point is 00:24:22 that they're going to go get Luis Robert and Randy or Rosen are at the same deadline? Yes, I do. And I'll tell you why. Because Jerry's cooking. Let's go. Let's go. And why not, right?
Starting point is 00:24:33 We as Meritor fans should demand that they be trying to do that. Absolutely. Now look, again, let's hypothetical, let's say they don't go that path, right? and they just go and they get like a jazz chisholm. And then they go and they get like,
Starting point is 00:24:46 I mean, I don't know, like a Josh Rojas type, right? And they call that a deadline. Yeah. Is getting like two like kind of co-headliners instead of the one star bat? Is that good? Yes. Like that is still a good deadline. If they add jazz chisholm and they go get kind of a bench bat or roll bat,
Starting point is 00:25:05 maybe it's Andy Avanias who we talked about. Maybe it's another. They still need at least two more bats. Like let's make that clear. Right. Or they need at least one and a half at the very least. Like they need like and maybe like it's possible. So like maybe like the second bat or the half bat is like a platoon partner for Luke Rayleigh or Josh Royale.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Right. So yeah, they still need help with this offense certainly. But again, I can't sit here and tell you that like this completely eliminates them from the Luis Robert sleepstakes. because it doesn't. Not based on what this cost. It doesn't eliminate them from that sweepstakes. It doesn't eliminate them from the jazz chisom sweepstakes. It doesn't eliminate them from anybody.
Starting point is 00:25:51 Like this trade in and of itself does not prevent the Mariners from doing more and continuing to shop at the top of the market. They can still do that. They still have the ammo. And they can still do that without completely gutting their farm system. Right. Because if they go trade Harry Ford and, you know, Las Montes and Tyler Locklear and Emerson Hancock and Jonathan Clossey for, you know,
Starting point is 00:26:18 Luis Robert, is their farm system worse than it was a week ago? Yeah, but that's the point. Is it a barren? Is there nothing left to work with? Absolutely not. It's still actually a pretty good system. So the Mariners can do what, like, whatever is out there for them to do that they want to do, they can still do.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Yeah. So this deal does not take. You just want an example of what the farm system could look like if you traded several high-end pieces from it. Look at our trade deadline plan from about a week ago. Where I traded like, you know, in my plan and look, that's not going to be a one-for-one thing. Whatever. But the point of the exercise is like, look, look how good your farm system still is, even after you trade like six top 15 guys. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:04 There's still so much talent in that farm system, even if you trade a significant chunk of them on the high end. And this front office at the very least has been really good at developing prospects and two assets. They did it with Brody Hopkins and Aden Smith in six months. Six months. Turn it into an all-star. Yeah. So, yeah, this team still has work to do, but they still have money left over. They still have ammunition to go and spend.
Starting point is 00:27:34 And oh, by the way, one other thing to note here, the Mariners just added payroll. Yeah. There is no money going back to see. There's no cash involved in this deal. The Mariners are adding payroll. Randy at Rose Arena is probably at this point making about $3 million for the rest of this year. You're going to have to pay them next year in arbitration. The Mariners added future payroll and current payroll with this deal.
Starting point is 00:27:55 They didn't try and like, hey, will you take, will you take Stanik so we can, you know, shave some money here or there? No. they added payroll. Are they willing to do it again? I don't know. Right. That's always the They better be. I'll say that. They better be. This is a good first step in John Stanton saying like, yeah, Jerry has resources. He has money. And he can point to us to be like, we took on money with the Rosarina deal. Good. Now go. John Stanton said in that article where he said that Jerry and Justin have resources, we expect to win the division. All right. Right. You got to do a hell of a lot more than this to win the division. that right it's a good first step yes like we should all acknowledge this is a great first step and again it puts the mirrors in a spot where they don't need to go get robert now but they do need somebody who is at least maybe he does differently but somebody who is at least like another randy rosarena
Starting point is 00:28:46 co-headliner thing like if you get a rosarena and belliger like that's good if you get a rosarena and jazz that's good you get rosarina and nico horner or ian half or whoever right like that That's good. You have at least a guy who can serve as a co-headliner for the deadline. Does that mean you shouldn't be trying to go get Robert? Absolutely not. Right, right. You should still be trying to do that.
Starting point is 00:29:08 And like we talked about on the show today, they've done a lot of groundwork with the White So White Sox have done a lot of groundwork on their prospects. I have no reason to believe that's for anyone other than Luis Robert. They're not doing that for a Tommy fan. They're not doing that for a Michael Kopeck. Right. The mayors don't have interests in. Garrett Crochet, or at least I can't imagine that they would have interest in that.
Starting point is 00:29:32 So it has to be Luis Robert Jr. Right. Right. Specifically from the White Sox, yeah. Exactly. So, yeah, they have the resources. They've shown that they're willing to spend money. Are they willing to spend more?
Starting point is 00:29:47 Better. You better. Yeah. But what I think the mayors have put themselves in here with this, today's deal is that like, now if they go get and it's like, it's just a Rosarena and Conforto, and Jonathan India, like whatever, right? Okay, that's fine. That's more than fine.
Starting point is 00:30:05 That is good. You got three quality bats that you needed to add. Yes. If you go get Robert and Loserick. Two of which are controlled beyond this year. Right. And if you go get like Robert and a Rosarena and like that's it, you just get those two bats, but you get those two bats,
Starting point is 00:30:18 then it's a home run because not only have you added club control beyond this year. You've added your outfield is set for next year, by the way, at that point. You still have assets in the farm to go and get. So like a road there, there's a path where the Marys could have what we would deem a successful deadline and Randy Rosa Ana be the best bad. He can't be the best bat by a mile. Like you have to,
Starting point is 00:30:42 again, you have to kind of go get somebody who's like almost his equal at the plate. Right, right. To really have a great deadline here. But this is a fantastic start. And again, it shouldn't prevent them. Either via payroll or by prospect capital or,
Starting point is 00:30:58 or by roster space or whatever. This move, the way it was done today, should not prevent them from going out and still continuing to add. There is no reason for Randy and Rosarena to be this deadline's Luis Castillo and then for the mayor to sit on their hands for the next five days and be like,
Starting point is 00:31:16 well, let's go get a Kirk Casale and a Jake Lamb. Yeah, exactly. So that's why I want to wrap up on here. We've spent all season talking about getting to this point and adding what is essentially the equivalent or the Louis Castillo of bats, right? The equivalent of that,
Starting point is 00:31:34 the hitting equivalent of Louis Castillo. And Randy Rosa Rana has the potential to be that. Again, not going to speak into absolutes here. We're retiring that. We're not going to assume. At least for hitters. Let's wait and see how they look at Team Mobile Park before we got to, you know.
Starting point is 00:31:52 But the other thing that I've said, along with that over the course of the season, is you can't follow that up with Kurt Casalee, Jake Lamb, those types of additions because that's what they did in 2022 and frankly,
Starting point is 00:32:08 they kept their ceiling and what they were able to do in the postseason because of that. I think, yeah, they did. I mean, especially when you look at it and you say, well, if they had found a way to beat the Astros and they had a real good chance
Starting point is 00:32:21 to win all three of those games, I really believe they win the World Series that year, but they didn't get the back. they needed to make that happen. And again, your offense is terrible. Yes. Randy Rosarena might get you from 30th to 27th or 26.
Starting point is 00:32:36 Right. Like you need significantly more help. You need impact, real impact. So you need, you need, yeah, like you need, you need somebody who's going to shake the baseball foundation. To me, that's Robert. Or you need a couple of guys who combined do that for you. So, you know, Randy Rosarana is a guy who kind of faded.
Starting point is 00:32:57 on our list for the last couple of weeks just because, you know, the rays were kind of, they were in it, but they weren't really. And, you know, and then there's all the reports. You just never know with them. They're weird. And then we, but then we were combining that with like, well, we heard the mayors didn't really love Randy this off season, but we did hear that they did like him a lot this off season as well.
Starting point is 00:33:15 And then there's a combined report of that of like the mayors are only interested in left handed bats right now. And they don't really like the raise righties. Right. All of it turns out to be BS, right? We don't know because things change on a day-to-day basis, especially at this time of year. So it is a great start. But as it was our motto in the offseason, it will be here at the deadline.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Get greedy. Get too much. Yes. Get so much that you're like, oh, man, we have to send that guy down to make room. Oh, okay. Oh, darn. Right. You still need a shortstop.
Starting point is 00:33:53 You still need a first baseman. You still need another outfieler. you still need a high leverage reliever. Can you get all of that done? Probably not. That's probably asking a little too much. You're going to have to pick and choose what you can get done. Can you get most of that done?
Starting point is 00:34:04 Yes, you can and you should. And that's the important part. You should get most of that done. And now you have four days to do it. But you're on the board, right? You're not going to be left without an option. And it's the exact type of player. And you jump to market because all that's happened so far has been, you know,
Starting point is 00:34:18 Hunter Harvey and AJ Puck tonight. You have essentially set the market. Right. You're on the board. Like you did with. Luis Castillo, by the way, two years ago. So we'll see what else is in store for the mirrors. Hopefully a lot more.
